I'm assuming you meant "TV", right? Okey-dokey. First let's get down to the basics: LCD stands for “liquid crystal display” and technically, both LED and LCD TVs are liquid crystal displays. The basic technology is the same in that both television types have two layers of polarized glass through which the liquid crystals both block and pass light. So really, LED TVs are a subset of LCD TVs. LED, which stands for “light emitting diodes,” differs from general LCD TVs in that LCDs use fluorescent light while LEDs use those light emitting diodes. Also, the placement of the lights on an LED TV can differ. The fluorescent lights in an LCD TV are always behind the screen. On an LED TV, the light emitting diodes can be placed either behind the screen or around its edges. The difference in lights and in lighting placement has generally meant that LED TVs can be thinner than LCDs, although this is starting to change. It has also meant that LED TVs run with greater energy efficiency and can provide a clearer, better picture than the general LCD TVs. LED TVs provide a better picture for two basic reasons. -First, LED TVs work with a color wheel or distinct RGB-colored lights (red, green, blue) to produce more realistic and sharper colors. -Second, light emitting diodes can be dimmed. The dimming capability on the back lighting in an LED TV allows the picture to display with a truer black by darkening the lights and blocking more light from passing through the panel. Because all these LCD TVs are thin-screen, each has particular angle-viewing and anti-glare issues. The backlit TVs provide better, cleaner angle viewing than the edge-lit LED TV. However, the backlit LED TV will usually have better angle viewing than the standard LCD TV. ---------- Both LED and LCD TVs have good reputations for their playback and gaming quality. |
sholay2011: Really?!Lolz. ![]() No worries. |
sholay2011: Team OITNBUzo Aduba already won an Emmy in the guest star category at the Emmy Creative arts awards held on the 16th. ![]() ---------- "The Emmy Creative Arts Award" is not to be confused with the main event billed for the 25th, though. It's a sort of an opening act, a forerunner to the "66th Emmy Primetime Awards." Creative Arts Awards was created by NBC (the brainchild of Emmy Primetime Awards) to honor the very best of those that featured in what you may refer to as obscure or uninteresting role(s). |
khanivorous: That taxi brooklyn of a show is a disgrace from nbc...couldn't even stand a taxi driver doing a cop job..no way ^^ It's an absurd concept. No argument with you there. |
leonard509: whats cgi plsComputer Generated Imagery. |
Optimus Prime: "There are innumerable mysteries to the universe. But who we are, is not one of them. That answer lies inside us. I am Optimus Prime, and I send this message to my creators: leave Earth alone, for I’m coming... for you!" ----------- This quote is so friggin epic to me the first time I heard it that I simply had to memorize it. Sh-eeeeeet!! The accompanying background score made it even better by giving it an oratory and heart warming ambience. Awesome! ![]() ^^ Probably the only scene I loved in a movie that took CGI to a whole different plane. |
prof800: ...and so the countdown begins! The fever is truly in the air! Can't wait! ![]() #TeamTrueDetective #TeamMatthewMcConaughey #TeamOITNB TeamFargo |

cao: [It's an ABC show not NBC. Disney owns ABC & Marvel, hence why the MCU films & TV crossover works smoothly.Well, that's a friggin relief. NBC is my favorite go-to network for great police procedurals, namely: -Hannibal -Taxi Brooklyn -Awake -The Negotiator -Law & Order: SVU -The Blacklist -(Even Grimm) ^^^ Thus, I really would hate to see them start churning out silly shows like both of MTV and The CW are wont to. With the exception of CBS and maybe FOX, they are the best broadcasting network out there that carters for "Mature" audience. ABC on the other is crappola. Most of their shows are made for kids and old people. cao: Plus, you do know they will be doing Constantine, Heroes: Reborn and Emerald City in the upcoming 2014/2015 TV season on NBC, right? I suggest you run for cover...If "Constantine" TV series is going to be anything like the Keanu Reeves movie, then I expect it to be okay. I like the sound of "Heroes: Reborn." Maybe Peter Petrelli, the human sponge is coming back. Can't wait. Emerald City sounds like another police procedural with a supernatural twist... like "Grimm." So what? I love Police procedurals. |
Be more specific. |
egbaguy: what is vulgar about this; 'chelsea will fucking rape burnley to death'If you truly don't see anything wrong with that sentence, then you really do have a problem, mate. Rápe is an heinous crime against humanity and only insensitive, uneducated and amoral people can throw the word around carelessly in their comments without giving a 2nd thought to it's real world implications. Don't be a learner. |
egbaguy: there shud b a freedom of expression nahCorrect, but the section's R&R must be respected. You're banned or have your comments hidden when you go against it. The important rules are as follows: -Don't insult or bully anyone. -Don't attach vulgar words in your comments where it isn't allowed. -Learn to keep it civil. -Don't post adverts or links without proper authorization. -Don't post pornography. -Don't engage in deliberate derailment of topics by trolling, etc. When you observe all of the above, believe me, nobody, be it man or e-robot will be banning you any time soon. |
Anti-spam bot is an internet programme deliberately put in place by the a forum's admin to weed out uncouth comments and insults by imposing automatic e-ban to the perps. If you're incessantly getting an electronic kick in the arsé every time, then, it can logically be deduced that you're a serial offender that wouldn't or refused to conformed to the section's rule and regulations. There is no smoke without fire. |
Sounds boring. |
"The League" is super funny. Haven't seen a funnier show in a while since the days of "30 Rock." FX is really rocking the TV scene at the moment. -Fargo -American Horror Story: Coven -The Bridge (US) -The Strain -The Americans -Sons of Anarchy -The League WOW!!! |
pickabeau1: Series take time to build up into.. you grow into themI respectfully disagree with your take on "GOT." The HBO fantasy horror drama series was an instant hit right from the get-go. On the other hand, you may have a point on your view that some shows tend to take their little sweet time to really kick off. But typically, the lull doesn't last long and usually makes a significant improvement mid season or earlier. New FX show "The Strain" had that effect on me. At the beginning, I didn't take to it but after the 3rd episode finished airing, my initial assessment of the TV series underwent a complete metamorphosis. Right now, it's one of my best shows on TV. The same cannot be said of "AOS", however. I didn't like episode 1 to 12, so I just have to give up on it... and I did. ------------ I'm a DC guy myself and naturally don't care much for Marvel productions and comics, but in my defense I did like "The Avengers" and "Thor" and so can be objective when it's required. And for the record, I don't like "Smallville" and "Arrow" either, and both of 'em were DC Comics flagship TV shows. My opinion had nothing to do with where it originated from. It's not sentimental in nature, rather it's professional and practical. |

-The eclipse is creeping in. -All hell's about to break lose. -The 2 feds learnt the hard way that things are not always what they seem. Not everything is black and white. They should have listen to Eph. -The live in boyfriend of Eph ex-wife is a backstabbing insecure little bìtch. I hope those things eat him alive and may he die in utmost pain and regret for being a little bìtch. -The old fella obviously can't do it all alone seeing that he's very old. He nearly became a victim himself as those infested things ambushed him after he had successfully decapitated one of 'em. He needs all the help he can get. -The Latino guy learnt the hard way that when you get in bed with the devil, copping out is not allowed. Can't wait for episode 7. Things are about to get really interesting. |
Couldn't get past the pilot, then I jumped it to watch the 2nd episode, but couldn't get past it either. I started scanning through the episodes but to my utter dismay, the whole thing is riddled with CGIs and lame monologues. When I watch a show, I live for the quotes. Sadly there's no notable, intelligent quotes to be garnered here. Characters are not compelling enough and very hard to relate to. I especially hate the "Ward" character. Got the same problem with "Arrow" and "Smallville", BTW. |
The sad thing about Vampire/Werewolf shows is that ideas tend to run dry pretty quick and are inclined to be very limited and unoriginal as other people had already walked the path. The trick is to keep it simple and yet compelling. Don't go creating new and ridiculous unheard of characters in other to keep the show running. Shows like "Vampire Dairies" got ruined by the introduction of crazy ideas and ridiculous story lines when the smartest option was to continue with the original story line by giving it a unique twist to keep it interesting. It's already ridiculous enough that Vampires could operate in the day light without subjecting it to more ridicule with other fantastic ideas. It's sad to see "Teen Wolf" making the same mistakes, and I daresay, the show is bound to end up like "Vampire Dairies" if care is not taken. "True Blood" has been able to figured it out and kept the minimal new characters introduction to the absolute minimum while maintaining the original story lines, and developing/evolving the characters with each passing episodes and seasons. The "Teen Wolf" crew should take a cue from their "True Blood" counterparts, IMHO. |
Attempted to watch"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D" again last week, without bias this time, but couldn't. I really do hate CGI riddled shows, especially one with little to negligible character developments. I don't see this NBC show earning a sort of reputable recognition by winning any form of the prestigious Emmys Awards anytime soon. What's with NBC and ridiculous shows nowadays, anyway? First, it was "Grimm", and now this?? They should stick to their comfort zone which is "police procedural" and leave the kiddies stuff to The CW. |
mrdrizzy: HuhThere's a story behind this. Netflix originally intended for it to be a drama and submitted it as such accordingly, but later had a change of heart when they realized that chances of winning anything in that category is very slim indeed, especially as the competition is very stiff. The show would have competed against the likes of "Breaking Bad", "GOT", and "True Detective" for the best drama series, and besides they already have a true drama in the form of "House Of Cards" competing and flying the Netflix flag in that prestigious category. After reviewing their options, Netflix decided that the "OITNB" would be better suited as a comedy, since it contain considerable dosage of comedic elements. It's of dark humour in nature. Not a typical laugh fest, but more than qualified to be classified as a comedy. ----------------- HBO had the same dilemma with "True detective.". It was originally advertised as a mini series and intended to be submitted as one, but later mid season, as the show's popularity soared, the showrunners fancied their chances of actually staging a coup and promptly submitted it as a drama... and guessed what? It passed muster, by making it into the final nominees shortlist for best drama series! |
adaobi123: Has anyone watched fargo ?If you're into shows that are anthropological in nature, then you'll love Fargo. It's a fantastic miniseries with a lot of interesting characters. |
Done with "WWE Summer Slam 2014 PPV". Currently downloading an FX comedy "The League." |
WWE Summer Slam 2014. Quite a PPV. |
sushieater: Yeah, the other actresses there were good also but saying that its Way outta Tatiana's league? I don't think so. The chick played like a dozen characters On OB perfectly. Tatiana is amazing and the fact that she wasn't nominated (again) only goes to show how incredibly out of touch the Emmy voters are. To have ignored her performance(s) is a mind-boggling embarrassment IMO.Tatiana made the preliminary cut but lost her spot after the final round of votings. Apparently, the voters didn't think she deserved to be on the list just yet. She wasn't ignored however. sushieater: I'm beginning to think it's all about PR and money and BBC America isn't a big enough player yet unlike NetFlix and Showtime. Let me ask you again, have you seen OB? I'd be very surprised if you've seen it and still think that she's not supposed to be up there with the rest.I have seen the first 4 episodes, enough to appreciate her acting capability, alas, not really my kind of show. I like 'em complicated and hardcore, which is why I stick mostly to HBO and Showtime shows. |
chromatic: loool..they are high. Every fan of the show feels the same. This is unanimous amongst critics too about last season.Too bad. Better Luck next time. Oops! I forgot, there will be no next time! ![]() |
sushieater: I hope so. You've seen Orphan Black right?.Gotta be honest with you, Tatiana Maslany is way out of her league on this one. -Lizzy Caplan dabbled where very few actress had ever dabbled in her "Masters Of Sex" role. She deserved to be on the list. -Claire Dunes erratic "Carrie Matheson" character is the driving force of "Homeland" and one of the top favorites to win. -Michelle Dockery has carved a niche for herself with her portrayal of "Lady Mary Crawley" in "Downton Abbey" which had already earned her 3 previous Emmys nominations. -Julianna Margulies is an Emmy veteran and currently holds the record of most wins. She's the top favorite to win. -Kerry Washington: Don't know much about her. -Robin Wright: Another top contender. |
chromatic: The good wife season 5 was the just concluded season..it was the best drama last year man. I thought the show went a bit off in season 4 but season 5 was consistently amazing...it should be in the best drama category and IF IT HAD BEEN nominated, it has a strong chance of winning...yeah it was that good.I watch all the shows(except mad men and downtown) in the best drama category, so I know what I'm saying.Coulda Woulda Shoulda ![]() Well, it didn't. "The Good Wife" got the silent treatment probably because the season 5 may not be as good as you are cracking it out to be. Remember, a man's ferrari may be another man's Taxi. |
sushieater: Nice one Op, though this year's Emmy was somehow incomplete for me without a nom for Tatiana Maslany(Orphan Black's Sarah Manning), she was simply amazing on that show. She didn't deserve the snub, my opinion though.Probably, her performances even though decent, weren't anything special, else she would have gotten a nod. Maybe at the next edition, she might finally get the recognition she deserve? |
chromatic: to be honest, the emmys is a joke..Emmys is not a joke. It's the biggest event of the season for the Television genre. It's the Oscars of TV series and Miniseries, so to speak. It's highly prestigious and the defining moment of any Television Actor, director, producer, writer, etc. chromatic: the nominations are predictable and boring. Some shows are there deservedly but some aren't.All nominations are predictable. Last Year, I predicted correctly 10 whopping Oscar nominees, and 7 out of the 10 made it to the podium. The fact is, good productions don't stay hidden, and only the very best makes it to the top. chromatic: The good wife should be there for best drama and not downtown abbey( I stopped that one after the third season as I believe it's gone downhill). The good wife was so old last season it would compete with breaking bad and true detective. yeah it was that good last season. The particular episode that was submitted for emmy nom " hit the fan" is as good as Breaking bad " ozymandias" episode( this was actually the best episode of breaking bad that year in my opinion: others were good too). There's a reason "Downton Abbey" made the cut this edition and "The Good Wife" didn't, you know? A casual visit to IMDb, Rotten Tomato, Metacritic and TV.com would show you that "Downton Abbey" is arguably one of the best shows on Television at the moment. "The Good Wife" had a pretty decent run last season, and impressed the hell out of everyone, including your's truly, but this season however, it left so much to be desired. "Downton Abbey" solid and controversial Season 4 is one of the best Shows this year, and deservedly earned the British Show a spot in the best drama series nominees. chromatic: I love true detective and all but breaking bad shiits on it."True detective" is singularly the best TV series the year 2014 has to offer, both of "Breaking Bad" and "GOT" in the 2nd position slot, "Downton Abbey" a somewhat distant 3rd. You need to watch "True Detective" to understand why it's within IT'S destiny to make a podium finish. The quotes alone would blow your mind. |
