JuanDeDios: Of course, that's Jack. Didn't you watch seasons 1-8? Actually, there was simply no other way for this season to end than in Jack's capture by the Russians. No other ending would have made sense - he couldn't have returned to the US and simply carry on life in a flat in California. Or remain in London. Or show up in Lagos.Jack would have sacrificed himself for his ungrateful nation, sure, but for an individual without any romantic attachment, not a chance, not without a contingency plan lurking in the shadows somewhere. Giving himself up the Russians is not consistent with his character throughout the series, especially after sacrificing so much and losing his ex-FBI girlfriend (Russians were directly responsible) and Audrey (Russians were indirectly responsible) to the same Russians along the way. Jack I remembered would rather sooner die than give himself up willingly to the Russians, even for chloe. He would have found another way. He's pretty good at using people, and would have gotten Kate easily enough to help him get Chloe back. All he had to do was to play on Kate's grief at losing Audrey on her watch, and Kate would have become his to use as he like. If the showrunners had extended the length of the season finale like they were supposed to (all the other series I have seen had extended final season finales) , fitting all this scenerios in and simultaneously getting a happy ending for Jack in the mix wouldn't have being a problem. (Jack of season 8, I can relate to and understand: Unleashed and boiling with hatred and retribution). |
brilapluz: OK I get u now but let's wait and cos as far as am concerned(and I just hope am speaking d minds of oda's 24 fans),24 season 9 finale didn't end quite well and once every1 gets d feeling dat dere won't b some sort of happy ending 4 jack,d ratings will instantly drop in large portions..The way I see it, the Producers would attempt to auction off the series to interested parties. Heard a rumor that Netflix is interested, and CBS wants a piece of that but right now it's all speculation. Everyone would like a happy ending for Jack, and the showrunners were smart enough to leave a premise for further storylines but... a lot depends on the timing. Delaying the show further wouldn't do it any good. |
colossus2: Lolz...anyway I want a season 10 cos I want a happy ending for Jack. And don't forget the age factor. Jack is not getting any younger. Even if season 10 made a return say 4 to 5 years from now, even Kiefer would lose interest in reprising his role as Jack Baur. |
brilapluz: my broda I understand dat part very well but u r not d one running FOX and we can not just conclude 4 dem...whether dey renew or not is not my business.... I am only telling u wat I saw @ deir website after viewing d season finale....u can check it up urself if in doubt....as 4 d possibility of Anoda season,I am quite optimistic of one(don't 4get deir plan 2 intro Carlos Bernard)...4 now let's watch and see if its a possibility but it will b disappointing if jack is not given a happy ending.....There is one thing you learn as you go through life. If a question is met with silence or with a question mark, then things are bleak indeed. I've visited Fox even before the season finale aired - I have them bookmarked on my browser - and what I read wasn't encouraging at all. -Kiefer Sutherland (Jack Baur) said there is a possibility that this might not be the last 24 series, but a lot depends on another network picking up the show (And we all knew that the likliest candidate, NBC had pulled out) -The showrunner was even vaguer than Kiefer, he said that they are still reviewing their options. Typically, a show gets renewed immediately the season finale concludes, but when the head honchos started beating about the bush like those on Fox, then even the most optimistic of fans would realise that there is nothing there. |
colossus2: Lmao....but this final episode was crazy just that they didn't give viewers what we expected. They just triggered our emotions instead of filling our hearts with excitement. After watching the season finale early this morning, I couldn't help but think that maybe it would have been better if the season 8 finale was the last ever 24 TV series episode ever. It was way better directed, more explosive, more unpredictable and best of all, Jack walked away (okay, ran away) a free man albeit a fugitive. Do you know what pissed me off most of all in this season finale? The quick and honorable way Jack killed Cheng. He gave him a samurai's death, and Cheng wasn't even a Japanese to begin with (WTF??). Better option was to keep him alive and use him as a bargaining chip of some kind against the Russians, who knows... I was nursing a sentiment that Jack could get to see his daughter and grandchild again, at least one more time before disappearing again (I never for once entertained the notion that Jack would ever surrender himself to the United States Government or otherwise), so you can understand my crushing disappointment when he sheepishly surrendered himself to the Russians in exchange for Chloe. That's not the Jack I remembered. So bizarre. And he didn't get to see his family... All in All, a disappointing Finale. |
brilapluz: i disagree...just read from fox that there is a possibility of a 10th season and arrangements are in place to start up shooting dats if its not already part of season 9 production.....finally a silent clock but sadly 4 audreyYou need to understand something, mate. Producing a very expensive show like 24 ain't easy. It requires funds, manpower and lots and lots of it. It took Fox like 4 years plus to finally muster enough courage and funds to finally tie up the loose ends with a 12 episodic season 9. Originally scheduled to be a full 24 episodic season like it's predecessors, the showrunners had to cut it in half for obvious reasons. So what gave you the idea that Fox would renew the show for another season? Do you know how much another season would cost, especially for a Network that is sort of cash strapped at the moment? Were you aware that Fox hit TV series, Gang related had to be cancelled in spite of high ratings and reviews because of the inability to continue. Guess why? That's right, lack of funds and manpower. So believe me when I tell you that 24 season 10 is the least of their problems right now. They are done with it, Caput. There were talks with the richer NBC network to pick up the 24 TV series but it fell through as NBC developed some problems of their own and had to curb some of their own TV shows. 24 may return - nothing is guaranteed after all - but be rest assured that it will not be on Fox network, that's for sure. |
colossus2: Lolz....which year will they produce Season 10 (2016)More like 2066. ![]() |
There is no season 10, guys. Fox hadn't and didn't and would probably never renew the show for the tenth season. A 24 spin-off may be in the works, but 24 as a TV series is dead. It died last night with the final season finale, so stop wishing and hoping for something that will never be. |
Two words: Disappointing finale. An Epic TV series such as these deserved a blockbuster finale and happy ending, instead we were burdened with a gloomy and somewhat bizarre closing. One of the worst season finale I've ever watched. Rating: 5/10. Average (A disappointing way to end a great show). |
Kezifils: I came into this thread to ask exactly that. So many loose ends. I'm sure they will leave so many scenerios unfinished. Lets just wait and see.I expect the season finale to deviate from the customary 43 mins runtime and extend to a one hour plus mini-movie format. It's the only way the showrunners can be able to tie up all the loose ends with time to spare. |
colossus2: I still have the CDs, will watch the last episode again to understand better. TnxNo worries. Best way is to download/watch your TV series online. That way, you'll be able to limit the mix-up and confusions that goes hand in hand with pirated copies. |
colossus2: Ok Strike Back ended in Season 4 then. The final season of the show - Season 5 - will start airing this fall (September or October give or take). Billed to kick off at first week of this month but was delayed due to unforeseen circumstance - an offset mishap involving one of the protogonist, Sullivan (Scott). PS: You got it all wrong on what happened to both Al-Zuhari and Rachel Dalton. Al-Zuhari was killed by the Isreali six months prior to Season 4, but no one knew this except Kamali. Who's Kamali? Kamali was an undercover operative of the CIA with a Lebanese background. He infiltrated the Al-Zuhari's terrorism network years ago, rose through the ranks and eventually gained Al-zuhari's trust and became his 2nd in command. During the course of his deep undercover role, he turned rogue and even when Al-Zuhari died in an Isreali raid, he kept the information for himself, not bothering to tell both the Brits and Americans they were chasing a ghost. Major Dalton suspected him right from the get go and didn't trust him one bit. During the course of the season, as she was getting close to uncovering his secrets, he had her assassinated by an IRA cohort. To cut a long story short, he finally came out in the open, after brilliantly staging his own death, owning up to his leadership role in all the terrorist activities that transpired within the last 6 months. He also admitted to being responsible for Dalton's death and all other atrocities that occurred during the course of the season. He played his card so well that both the Section 20 and CIA didn't knew what hit them until it did. Kamali was eventually shot and killed by the Section 20 before he could release a deadly nerve gas that could have killed tens of thousands of people. These was an epic season. Can't wait for the follow-up. |
PAINGAIN: u r wrong bro. I've watched. Season 5 of strike back about two months ago. Borrowed d complete episodes from a friend.Don't have time to argue what is basically a pointless argument since the evidence is glaringly clear. >>CLICK HERE<< to confirm. |
chromatic: Underrated show....I thought season 1 was good but damn..season 2 killed it!You took the word right out of my mind. The American is one of those shows that flies under the radar, not because it ain't good - it's darn good - but because mostly the showrunners failed to market it properly to the audience. Most often than not, the season trailer advertising what to expect from the show, ends up blowing cold and the subsequently season premiere mediocre at best. Sons Of Anarchy, Gang Related and The Americans are probably 3 of the hottest show on TV right now that not a lot of people are watching. |
chromatic: Hmmm...I can't remember James Spader getting nominated though..Spader was definitely nominated. He almost single handedly made "The Blacklist" very entertaining, and something to look forward to every week. He's a dark horse and an outside bet to win. Underrate him at your own peril. |
CyrusLevi: epic replyFunny glances in your general direction would greet this weird comment if uttered on the streets of Durban. The comment's gay meter level is on critical, since it was uttered by a dude. |

Nominees Woody Harrelson didn't earn as much fanfare for "True Detective" as McConaughey, but he has a strong history with the TV academy, winning one Emmy (1989 Comedy Supporting Actor, 'Cheers') out of seven nominations. If "Detective" is a big Emmy success, expect Harrelson to go along for the ride. He gets 12/1 odds. Poor Jon Hamm doesn't have a single Emmy to show for his 11 nominations to date, including six in this category for AMC's " Mad Men ." But despite the show's diminishing returns – it hasn't won a trophy since 2011 – Hamm still gets 16/1 odds. James Spader also has odds of 16/1. He's already a three-time winner in this category for playing attorney Alan Shore on "The Practice" and "Boston Legal," and he's a strong bet to return for his latest role in NBC's surprise hit " The Blacklist ." |
Contenders For Emmy Best Drama Actor https://s3.amazonaws.com/img.goldderby.com/ck/images/drama-actor-emmy.jpg Frontrunners Bryan Cranston is aiming for a record-tying fourth win for Best Drama Actor at the Emmys for the final season of " Breaking Bad ," but faces a strong challenger in Matthew McConaughey, whose recent career resurgence included an Oscar earlier this year for " Dallas Buyers Club." He just won a Critics' Choice TV Award for his role as tortured cop Rust Cohle in HBO's " True Detective " and hopes to cap off his year with an Emmy. Cranston has earned Drama Actor bids for every season to date of "Breaking Bad," and this year will likely be no exception, especially given the show's massive ratings surge for its final episodes. He leads our predictions with 23/10 odds. But McConaughey will give him a run for his money. Our Editors and Experts are evenly split between him and Cranston. Add to that the support of hundreds of Users, and he gets very close with odds of 13/5. They'll almost certainly be joined by returning nominee, Kevin Spacey, who played corrupt politico Francis Underwood for a second season of Netflix's acclaimed streaming series " House of Cards " and gets 15/2 odds. |
Eddibloc: Till date, I've never seen or watched any movie/series so enthralling and exciting as these: 24hours,roswell,vampire diaries, the visitor, merlin, spartacus, legend of the seeker, the 4400,the event, small ville.Dude, go and upgrade your taste, there are many shows out there that are way better than those childish things (with the exception of Spartacus and 24) on your list. And BTW, Movies and TV series ain't the same. Hollywood is the American Movie Industry that is solely responsible for the production of Movies, while Television channels -Cable and Network - are solely the architects of TV Shows, a Television genre that was originally invented purely for commercial purpose, in other words, Network and Cable Channels use the medium to sell the products of their respective sponsors. That's why TV shows comes with commercial breaks. Get your facts right and quit coming off like a Juvenile that just started watching TV shows. |
Hawlahscho: wondering if there is anyDoesn't exist on Android OS. Want free Live Streaming TV on your phone? Then, you gonna have to buy a TV app on Google Play. There are various free android TV apps all over the internet you can download without having to pay a dime, but if you value quality, then you gonna have to pay for it. You can watch all the premium channels DSTV can offer on your phone with the help of a certain TV app I cannot name here for private reasons, and it's absolutely free once you've purchased the app. PS: There's no such thing as an offline Television on Android at the moment. Maybe it's something for the future but not presently. Most apps on Android require a data or Wifi connection in order to work effectively. |
portable86: Where the hell have you been?Classic. I couldn't have said it better myself. The guy haven't been around else he wouldn't have dredged up a forgotten movie. |
I've watched a lot of Television Series in my time and loved quite a few. Any show from Premium cable channels like HBO, Showtime, Starz, Cinemax, Netflix and Basic channels like FX, AMC, Showcase, and Syfy does it for me. Throw in a couple of Broadcast (Network) channels - FOX and NBC - into the mix and I'm content. My favs are: -GOT (HBO) -Breaking Bad (HBO) -The Wire (HBO) -Oz (HBO) -The Sopranos (HBO) -True Detective (HBO) -Breaking Bad (AMC) -The Walking Dead (AMC) -Mad Men (AMC) -House Of Lies (Showtime) -Californication (Showtime) -Dexter (Showtime) -Tudors (Showtime) -Shameless (Showtime) -The Killing (Netflix) -House Of Cards (Netflix) -Orange Is The New Black (Netflix) -Spartacus (Starz) -Da Vinci's Demon (Starz) -Banshee (Cinemax) -Strike Back (Cinemax) -Hunted (Cinemax) -Hannibal Lecter (NBC) -Gang Related (Fox) -Prison Break (Fox) -24 (Fox) - CSI: New York (Fox) -Continuum (Showcase) -Battlestar Galactica (Syfy) -The Sanctuary (Syfy) -Stargate Atlantis (Syfy) -Fargo (FX) -American Horror Story (FX) |
Cortana is on a hot streak: 13-13. AWESOME! |
Guykhena: You're really no expert in comics.I remember reading a certain graphic novel where Hulk tried to move Superman but couldn't. I think that pretty much settled the argument of whom is stronger. Another advantage Superman has over Hulk is that he can fly and move with the speed of lightening. Grabbing Hulk and zapping him to Planet Mars in his supersonic speed would be so easy. Better still, leaving him to float around in space in an orbit would be much better. Superman can always hide behind a lead metal shield in the instance that Hulk in his desperation to survive absolute humiliation, brandishes a Kryptonite in an attempt to weaken him. Only Darkseid can be said to be stronger than the Man of steel, period. |
I'm no expert on Comics, but I'm pretty sure that Marvel's Hulk is indestructible. He's literally one of the strongest Creatures in that Universe, although DC Universe's Superman can easily beat him up... probably. |
Lots of loose ends, and with only one episode to wrap 24 series all up, my questions now is: how the hell are the producers going to tie up all the loose ends under 43 mins?? Unless the season finale is going to deviate from the traditional 43 mins and extend to a One hour plus kind of mini movie format, a lot of fans are going to be disappointed and unsatisfied by the inevitable rush job that is lurking in the shadows. |
True Detective’ Season 2 Update: First Script In; Rumors About New Lead Late last week, a big step was taken forward for True Detective season 2. Series creator Nic Pizzolatto reportedly turned in the script for the first episode of the new season, and the lead for this new storyline is not what we’d heard it might be. In the months since the first season finished, we’d heard rumors suggesting various new directions, from redoing the two-detective structure of the first season, to relying upon a more female-centric cast. Now, it turns out, at least the first episode just centers on one male lead. The rumor came from The Wrap , who posted it as a Twitter exclusive: "The 1st script for 2nd season is IN & agency sources tell us it features one MALE lead & male/female co-stars." Does this confirm True Detective won’t have a female lead? Not at all. If the first season taught us anything, it’s that Pizzolatto thrives on the unexpected. Who is to say the main character of the first episode stays the main character, stays good, or even survives? I still think anything is possible with this show, which is exactly why fans are so excited about it. With the first script completed, we now can make an educated guess at Pizzolatto’s timeline. You’d imagine he would complete the scripts by the late Fall, maybe casting and production in early 2015 and a potential air date Fall 2015. That’s just a guess but it seems feasible. |
Csami: As for spiderman's remake, sony just wanted to tell the whole world that they still retain spiderman's right. Bloody awful movie. ![]() |
philfearon: Hulk doesn't even have a great storyline...Like someone already said, there have been many Hulk movies probably before you were born. Go back to the archives and dig up classics like the ones of Lou Ferrigno's, watch it, then come back and give me the feedback, then we can continue this discussion from there. |
Rebooting the Spider-Man series and rebranding it The Amazing Spider-Man was one of the biggest blunder I've ever seen in Hollywood. The reboot lacks continuity with the original and sucked much much more. |
