IMHO, I don't really see any difference between both intra and intercity driving as long as driving rules are adhered to. Methinks intercity driving is a whole lot easier cause its basically a straight path almost all through and there are much fewer distractions to contend with than in the town. What causes most of the accidents we observe in intercity roads can be termed to lower/exxagerrated alertness+increased speeds, something urban driving usually does not allow for. @OP, if yhur car is in as good as yhu put it, then I advise that yhu maintain the alertness yhu have while driving in town and resist the urge to speed beyond yhur capabilities. And don't play Enya, Yanni, Nana Mouskouri or any worship songs till yhu get to yhur destination.

I recommend the Bajaj Boxer. Last price I knew of was around 100-115k. Yhu can get it, use it for a couple of months and sell it for 65-80k. Its that durable n has steady market either new or used.

@OP, yhur locatiion determines whether yhur X5 will be good for daily driving. A 4.4 ltr V8 engine is not expected to be fuel efficient cept yhurs is the underpowered 3.2 ltr i6. The X5 is a great car to drive buh doesn't tolerate heavy traffic driving. The engine is affordable, buh accessories come expensive. The people I know who own x5s have other daily drivers. As a first car, I honestly wouldn't recommend. As an extra far, no problems.

Y most loans go bad in banks is mainly due to non diligence either on the part of the Bank, the creditor in qualifying their risk asset or the debtor via a number of means. Now if yhu read OP's statement, yhu will observe that the said bank refused the initial principal sum claiming that OP's folks should instead pay the interest, which going by its increasing rate will take another Paris Club meeting to liquidate. So yhu can't entirely blame OP's folks for not attempting to pay. The loan appears to be structured which means the bank "diligently" found the collateral satisfactory BEFORE granting the facility. Anything other than that should be tied to the customer's account. Knowing how Banks in Nigeria are credit shy, I can almost assert that bad loans are done in active connaivance with Bank management.

And except it was an unstructured credit facility (deal btw former manager n OP's dad) a structured credit line should take into cognisance the power of customer's business to pay off the said facility. If its structrured, (since shop is colleateral here), it calls to question the diligence of the bank in pursuing its risk assets. To OP, try and sort yhurselves out first then sue for 3 times the amount yhu repay.
