Methinks the only tactical change Hiddink needs to deploy is to revert to the style of play that got us to the champions league final last year. Scolari brought in a new style of play but didn't have the right players to execute it. 30 year old players cannot play the short passing game that requires they work twice as hard as they used to and they didn't even have the requisite amount of fitness. That is why he was screaming about Robinho. He wanted young blood.

Well, the damage has been done and we cannot re-open the transfer window, so we have to make do with what we have. The good news is that we now have Quaresma who I believe will come good and provide that extra creativity that can open up defenses, which we have lacked so far! He might just be the key to the rest of our season(pity he can't play C/L football).

1. Michael Ballack -He was our best box-to-box player last season and along with Drogba, the reason we got to the C/L final.

2. Didier Drogba -One of the best and most feared strikers in Europe last year and now one of the most unfit and crappy in England!

3. Frank Lampard (He's been our best so far but he's a far cry from his form at the end of last season)

4. Petr Cech - The best goalie in the world a year ago, now guilty of hilarious blunders.

5. Ashley Cole - A shadow of his former self.

6. John Terry.

I can go on and on. Scolari's methods were the problem, full-stop!

Scolari is a world class coach! A man who won the world cup is definitely no idiot!

But his biggest downfall were his training methods. His methods would not work for a premiership team, as most of Chelsea's players have admitted!

John Terry himself admitted recently in an interview that he has dropped in fitness under Scolari, but he admitted that Scolari is a good coach. The problem with Scolari was that he was too stubborn! He wouldn't listen to critism of his tactics and kept making the same mistakes. His stubborness and passion worked for him as a national team coach (especially with Brazil) but wouldn't work now. Besides, he didn't have the passion for Chelsea that he had as Brazil coach. Scolari was known to be quite restless while coaching his previous team, jumping up and down and swearing at touchlines. That was missing in Chelsea.

Anyway, because of his soft training methods at Chelsea, there was a general decline in fitness in the squad.
One of Chelsea's greatest strengths under Mourinho and the reason why we were usually unbeatable was because we were always fitter than anyone else. We were always at our best in the last couple of minutes of each match and we were known to dazzle and score late goals.

That fitness was still there under Grant, but has gone abegging under Scolari. Chelsea is now guilty of conceeding late goals.

I expect Hiddink to correct this, as one of the main strengths of his teams is their fitness and vigour.

Chelsea has got a bunch of skillful superstars and with the right amount of fitness, we should salvage something this season.

Don't get me wrong, it won't happen in a few days or weeks, but we would get it right!

1. Anyone suggesting that Guus Hiddink is not the best choice for Chelsea at the moment  is a complete dufus football knowlegde-wise.

2. Anyone suggesting that Rijkaard should take the reigns at Chelsea is an enemy of the club.

3. Guus Hiddink is EASILY among the top 3 football tacticians in the world, if not the best.

4. He's a great man-manager/motivator. . .

5. He's among a rare class of coaches with the unique ability to change games. Mourinho and Rafa Benitez are members of this unique club. The 11 players he files out in the first half usually appear different to the players that finish the match.

6. He's unpredictable - Anyone close to Claudio Ranieri would tell you that he's peeing in his pants right now, as he doesn't know what to expect anymore when he plays Chelsea within the next two weeks. He probably was guaranteed a victory under Scolari.

7. He develops players.

8. He creates Cinderella teams, e.g. PSV Eindhoven in the Champions league 2004/2005, South Korea in the world cup 2002, Russia in recent times, among others.

9. He turned Roman Pavlyuchenko from a gangly teenager and shitty striker to one of the best players at Euro 2008 and one of the best strikers in the premiership at the moment. He further discovered young talents like 18-year old Dzagoev, a young player that most big clubs in Europe would die to get their hands on.

10. He can make a footballer out of anyone, including a bunch of talented but spoilt and over-pampered brats, like Chelsea currently parade.

Should I go on?

I was rooting for Hiddink when Jose was fired, but he wasn't interested in the job. I congratulate Roman Abramovich for finally getting his man. I also thank Roman Abramovich for shutting Chelsea's detractors up(i.e. people who carried rumours saying that Roman wants to sell the club).

Are his recent actions the sign of a man fed up with the club?

It's events like these that make me a Chelsea fan!

Hello fellow Nairalanders. It came to my attention this afternoon that someone has been impersonating me and using my nairaland identity (Razorr) for unscrupulous businesses on this site.

I would like to state categorically that I haven't visited this site or posted in it for over a month and a half and so any post by me recently wasn't me but the dumb-ass impersonator.

I do not know who the idiot is, but I strongly suspect one of the moderators, as only someone like that could have retrieved my password, as I am very discreet about it.

I have changed my password, and in the event that the person keeps posting with my ID, I would know for a fact that it's a stupid and immature moderator that's doing it and speak to Seun about the problem. He would probably have to delete my account.
