kodewrita: @Red What do you expect from a country filled with designer drugs, where one in four residents has a gun? contrary to what you watch on CSI and other cop shows american police are not as good as potrayed and the number of unsolved cases far outweighs the solved cases.
Decent people live where I stay and even though the bad eggs (which are everywhere) still commit crimes, there are lesser number of people killed per day compared to the US. Most cities in nigeria apart from Lagos, Abuja, PH and other major cities have lower death rates due to murder than the US. I think you are the one who believes in fantasy. |

kodewrita: @Red whoever you are, I will like to ask you if you have ever stepped on Nigerian soil before. This is a nice country inspite of its flaws and believe me more people are killed every day in the US than in Nigeria.
@Hidden_Hunter The police is not a refuge because they can be bought (sad to say but true.). I have no helpful suggestions because in this case you are not nigerian and some of my suggestions will not work. I suggest your father makes his own security arrangement and brings the threat to the attention of other people on the board of the company to see what they can do. It won't be a bad idea to involve the EFCC (new watchdog) because it has a financial nature. Consider all options and do what is best, It would not be the best for your father to lose his life because he wants to do his job. Thats a joke right?more people die in the US?wow |

Seun: He's able to command respect outside the country, africa and elsewhere. He's able to communicate what his administration is doing in uncomplicated terms that someone like me can understand and appreciate. He was the first military ruler ever to hand over to a civilian government.
I don't think it's a good idea to criticize President Obasanjo when there is no-one who is better? Can you really name anyone who would have done better?
I sincerely believe that he's a good president. I think he has done really well and I hope it won't take terror in the next regime for us to recognize that. I'll regard your post as a very bad joke. |

Niggy: Please, why does my PC keep asking me to get Windows Update because the PC is vulnerable to security attacks from the Internet?
I get the updates everyday and it keeps telling me to update! It's frustrating! Is it the presence of worms, virus or some other threats? I also need to know the best anti-virus to download
you guys should try linux Your PC is most likely infected with some sort of malware causing that pop up telling you your PC is at risk. Why don't you run some spyware removal tool but then again it depends on the level of infection.Sometimes reformatiing is the best way to go that is after you have migrated all your stuff.I wonder if you are yousing a broadband connection?and if you are using broadband are you sitting behind a firewall?and not the crap firewall that comes with SP2. |

Tobi: What do you think this NEPAD thing ( www.nepad.org ) is all about anyway? I have my doubts about its sincerity. I think that South Africa came up with this program to create a virgin market for their economy in Africa since their own market is getting saturated and EU is not allowing them to flood their market like they were doing in the past.
They enlisted the assistance of President Obasanjo to drum support for NEPAD because they know that we are always "Hot" on such programs.
Now South Africa is already taking over anything and everything in Nigeria's economy. They are opening shopping malls all over, they are bringing over $200 million to invest in power once NEPA is privatised, I even heard that they offered to pay the handsome sum of $1 billion for our railway when their own railway system is in shambles!! Their fast food companies are ready to dust Mr Biggs, Tantalizer etc. They had brought St Elmoz already and I heard that they are bringing MacDonald's! More are coming guys!
What do you guys think is happening? South Africa can do whatever they want because the people in our govt who are supposed to look out for our interest by checking some of the investment activities of South African companies are not interested in looking out for you. They are making their money and i suggest you do the same. |

obong:
armani link=topic=99.msg646#msg646 date=1114321325: I think one of the most treasured experiences about Nigeria is the sense of freedom from all man-made restrictions (what you in a so called "developed " world would call laws). In Nigeria there is so much freedom that you can {urinate} on the streets while a policeman watches out for you. Is it not amazing? This might sound ridiculous, but every time I leave the country and I am coming back it is one thing I miss so much.
Concerning freedom, as per tourist, ... the difficulty is that of an innocent sheep running into a wolf. Nigerians do not like people who are generally ignorant, which is why they are very witty. If you come into Nigeria as a tourist and they realise that you know nothing about your environment, they are bound to use you. So, when coming to Nigeria as a tourist, be sure to have somebody in Nigeria as a guide. I live in the US and folks urinate on the streets (even on the train) all the time. No biggie.
I don't find nigerians to be a wolf0like as you describe them. Most, especially outside of Lagos, are cool folks Gosh.where in the US cause i'd love to go there and just pee on the street without some 5-0 giving me a ticket |
Politics › Re: Thoughts On Other Countries? by Red(m): 7:53am On Jun 20, 2005 |
Hidden_Hunter: I am always interested in what people in other countries think of other countries (so it's unbiased) so I was wondering what people think of Australia?
I can say that I like Nigeria because it's a very pretty place and most people are friendly enough (most people are very nice but a few people sometime ruin it for the rest). I say it often to my friends back here at home that I enjoy my trips to Nigeria because of how diverse it is
Potentially Nigeria could make alot of money off tourists if they wanted to but at the moment it's too hard and extremely costly. Australia is a lovely place with lots of deadly creatures but most of the people are nice. But like everwhere else there will always be some wankers who will try spoiling your trip. |
Politics › Re: Who Should Be the Next President of Nigeria? by Red(m): 7:52am On Jun 20, 2005 |
Every single individual named on here as possible contenders CANNOT do this job.Rather they should all be locked up in jail. But then again it is Nigeria which has proven itself to love mediocrity and wankers as leaders. In my mind i would rather have the current head of NAFDAC as the President and some other person who has the balls to throw IBB and the other rug rats into jail for the crimes they have commited against the Nation. But like i said this is Nigeria i am talking about, reason never prevails in Nigeria. |

A lot of wornd stuff being written on here.Divorce occur for a variety of reasons and not all of them are crap reasons.Funny thing hearing Nigerians always trying to establish their moral superiority when in reality they are just like everyone else.I have seen a LOT of Nigerian couples divorce over here and they are just as messy if not more that the regular folks. |
