Have you ever had a neighbour who just can't mind their own business? Or do you have or have had a next-door neighbour with a balcony overlooking your compound, who sits there at intervals during the day, watching your every move and making comments? Comments about how you look, your day-to-day activities, your children, vehicle and even pets. These people seem to be normal, everyday people with families, jobs etc but oddly,- extremely oddly they just aren't content with their lives. It's queer that adults who are happily married and gainfully employed will spend their free time focusing on the life of a next-door neighbour whom they intensely dislike. Also odd, is how a young single person who has their whole life ahead of them, focuses daily on another person and even recruits their friends and family to join them in fighting the next-door neighbour whom they abhor. Living next-door to hateful individual(s) can affect our mental health if we aren't able to ignore them. It can also impede our progress because of the distractions - negative comments, gossip, intentional noise etc. Not only are these neighbours nosy, they disturb the peace of the neighbourhood by spreading rumours. And since, as people we love to talk about what's trending, many people just engage in the current gossip topic created by these individuals and the gossip goes on for days. It's an odd phenomenon and I've often wondered if other people have weird experiences living in a compound or next-door to a nosy or talebearing neighbour. For example, a vengeful neighbour who starts a rumour about you just to get back at you because of a misunderstanding, instead of simply talking about the issue and resolving it. Please share your experiences. |
Time to move on to.... Threads. |

Been following this story on BBC. So sad. May the explorers RIP. |
One of the factors that contribute to a good community are good neighbours. Everyone who has a good neighbour should be thankful. Living beside a bad neighbour can be extremely stressful and hard. Minding your business, is very essential to being a good neighbour. Nosy neighbours (& people) are a pain in the neck. Everyone is entitled to some degree of privacy. Violating that privacy is a breech of human rights. Everyone should endeavour to be a good neighbour whether it's the landlord, tenant, co-tenant, person living next-door or 3 houses away. Absolutely no one deserves an abnormal human being as a neighbour. Make your community livable by being a good neighbour. |
That situation is understandable. But even then, you should be considerate to other ATM users. |
On a couple of occasions, I've seen some people use the ATM for longer than three minutes while there's a long queue of people waiting to use that same ATM. Today was one of those occasions. The bank wasn't open because of the holiday, so the only option was this one ATM as the other one was out of service. ( There are just two ATMs at the branch of the bank I went to.) So in your opinion, how long is the acceptable time to spend at the ATM especially if there's just one available? I feel strongly that even if a person is withdrawing N100,000, that amount can be withdrawn in less than 2 minutes if the ATM is functioning well. |
Presenters of Your View have come on TV quite a number of times with unverified rumours. Unless the unidentified person or organization, calls in to make a report about the truth of the matter - topic of the programme - the nation & whole world would have been fed false information. They need to check stories before rushing to air them. |
Arrewa:Exactly!! This report on El Rufai is confusing. |
Factfinder1:This is so untrue. It would be really sad if any government official ever embezzled the amount that the late Abacus did. |

When will some people learn to stop taking photos of others without their consent? |
12. Gossiping. A really bad & destructive habit. Inability to keep other people's info to yourself. 13. Not minding your business, always wanting to know what's going on in another person's life. 14. Disposing waste items - water sachets, biscuit packaging, fruits waste- anywhere besides the trash can 15. Being rude. Some women think rude is cute - it ain't!! |
My friend who works sometimes in Ikorodu goes by boat from Marina to beat the traffic, so this isn't new. LASG have ferries for this purpose. |
I don't live in a face-me-I-face-you, but sometimes it feels like I do because of a neighbour who constantly monitors my activities. Her balcony overlooks my yard. She is a chronic gossip and cannot mind her business. |
The name on the poster says Mrs Pourhghom Bash not Mrs Sally Dagun. Besides, the picture of the woman in the original story is different from the one here. |
Seek help, speak to a psychiatrist. Spend time with some happy, positive people daily. |
There are some situations in life we face that tell us - It's time to move on. 11 years is too long to serve and not be appreciated. Music Directors are salaried staff in many establised churches. He should also sort out the issue with his license so that he can get a job. |
The kind a certain Mrs Balogun will soon get from God. |
BrightEye:Sometimes, when people have had enough, it's this kind of treatment they mete out to their oppressors. |
Wow!! How rude, & coming from a woman many young Nigerian girls look up to. We may not like our leaders, but do we always have to be rude? |
Registration for this event seems to be N10,000. Google: Ake Arts & Books Festival. |
In my opinion, there's nothing wrong with employing his wife as Chairperson, Inauguration Committee. It's not like he appointed her as a Commissioner or as a PermSec. Afterall, she'll be First Lady and will be expected to make positive contributions in the state. That's the person he can count on to ensure that a good job is done in planning the inauguration. Hopefully, the incoming gov will do a better job at governance and development this time around. Be positive. |

biafranqueen: America has learned how to be subdued with corruptionCorruption at the level practised in Nigeria is not global and definitely not African. In West Africa alone, corruption is very minimal in some countries. As a visitor or an expatriate, you learn that processes are organized and at the correct cost - you get receipts for the exact amounts paid and these costs are made public. And beyond West Africa, a good example is South Africa, where a tourist can claim a VAT refund at the airport on goods purchased during a visit - this is just one commendable practice evidence of non-corruption amongst many others. There are many more examples of African countries where processes are organized, transparent and bribe-free. You certainly cannot call corruption an African problem because there are governments in Africa that ensure that corruption is at a low level - and this in itself isn't easy because there are greedy people everywhere. Nevertheless, the greedy ones a just a small percentage of the populace. Corruption is NOT an African 'thing'. |
Bread is so, so easy to make with a bread machine. For small-size white bread, put-in 1 cup water, 3tbsp skimmed milk, sugar to taste, 2 tbsp veg oil, 3cup regular flour and 3tsp yeast. The machine will knead & bake. In the absence of a bread machine, mix ingredients above in a bowl, pour onto a floured surface and knead, bake after the dough gets an elasticity consistency. But, do get a bread machine - bakes cake too - you'll be glad you did. Good luck ![]() |
1 piece fruit cake, 1 piece vanilla cake & a cup of orange tea :-) |
sobaemma: automatic visaThis is so funny but very true. Some nigerians will be willing to compromise their strong anti-gay belief to get an american visa if it ever comes to that. In any case, Nigeria is a long, long way from approving same-sex marriage. This is a country where a citizen's basic rights are yet to be recognized meanwhile some are speaking of gay rights! Not likely in the near future, so folks, calm down. |

make them no try am o,cus my guy all nigeria men go form gay enter yaki
