superstar1:we will do that - and when we get sick we will go to the doctors and not our pastor. we will actually try and find out what is wrong with us instead of blame it on the juju. its not even about how u live as well - exposure is also a wonderful thing and being able to travel the world and see and appreciate other cultures and countries is a good thing but u stay there and holiday in Ghana - to u naija is the greatest country on earth. |
hackney:thanks jari if there is a word that i hate is the word manage - which one is manage - in this day and age - i am seen as an agebo if i can't deal with the lack of electricity and get confused when water refuses to leave a tap. and i am told to manage. yes that gen biz gives me a bloody headache. why are people on here talking about "i have gen, i have borehole" um let me look out of my window, hmmmmmmmmmmmm i can't hear the buzz of the gen next to my house and what do you know - my water is running. which one is premier university? is it all these private unis that have sprung up since i left i went to UNN back in the day. |
superstar1:ok no nigeria is heaven my bad - o hold on having been to uni here and in nigeria and using the facilities in the hostels for students abeg for those that know what i'm talking about - am i making nigeria look bad or are student facilities up to scracth in naija - please if i'm wrong tell me. |
sayso:thanks for the heads up - i have my machine here with me - i was on holiday - blood pressure machine - not really something i carry in my suitcase when i'm travelling. just reguar travel insurance seems to be sufficient for other holiday destinations!! i was ill so i guess when ur ill thats one of the things they check - am i making sense now - o another thing the upper arm band blood pressure machines are best. |
mikkyphp:AFTER A recent visit to nigeria i went what was meant to be a good hospital in the east - trust me - i was not impressed - the blood pressure machine they used should be in a museum (in all my years alive on this earth I have never seen such a device - i came back and told my friends here theu could not stop laughing) and the nurse wanted to take my blood without gloves - when i complained she had the audacity to tell me is it cos i be oyinbo - WTF - woman its basic hygine i'm asking for. anyway enough with my ranting is it not me moving there next year for a few years. |
after reading the story below - i'm now packing my load and selling my house to come back to our wonderful land - chei who needs a well equipped hospital when u guys are enjoying tis back home. http://www.tribune.com.ng/15102009/news/news14.html We perform surgeries with torch - Doctors Muda Oyeniran, Lagos - 15.10.2009 THE decay in the Nigerian health sector occasioned by the deplorable state of infrastructure was brought to the fore in Lagos, on Wednesday, when the chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Lagos State chapter, Dr. Adedamola Dada, disclosed to the amazement of the audience, that doctors had been performing surgeries using torch and administering drugs with the aid of telephone handsets. The occasion was a symposium organised by the Lagos NMA, as part of activities to mark the 2009 Physicians’ Week. Dada, who lamented the working conditions of doctors in the country, said they were being confronted daily with problems of caring for the patients in difficult conditions, adding that emergency cases were handled with suctioning machines that were not functional due to blackout. “I can boast that you can hardly find a practicing surgeon in Nigeria who has not operated a patient using torch as source of illumination,” he added. He, however, expressed regrets that doctors were always at the receiving end when adverse events occurred “The Nigerian doctor is condemned, insulted and harassed by the people and the press. Thousands of patients, who are daily treated and discharged in good health, are never noted, but the whole world talks endlessly about any infarction,” he added. Speaking on the bill on gunshot victims currently before the Senate, Dada said the new bill was unnecessary, since there was an existing national health bill already passed by the House of Representatives and awaiting the consideration of the Senate on the same issue. |
some of us where born and breed here so we didn't all didn't come over. not everyone came with student visa and is now running from border patrol. yes money doesn't grow on trees in any country in the world it is just annoying when people ask for stuff they shouldn't be asking for. i know a widow over here that used to get asked for money all the time by a woman whose husband was alive and working - now please even if the widow is abroad and doing well - why wouldn't someone use their brain and understand that one woman carrying 6 kids alone all under the age of 17 except one will be in a position to give u anything. why will someone in the village be asking for brand new mobile phone when they are just sitting at home all day doing nothing - is a nokia e71 really a priority right now for an unemployed man? |
mikkyphp:WHY DO NIGERIANS DO THIS - did anyone say anything about them in particular getting support from the government. Please tell me - u people in Nigeria - how much does it cost to have the basic things we have here and take for granted cost in Nigeria. u know things like water and electricity - u know things that a human being needs TO LIVE. if you have gen - is it not money to buy, it is not money for disel, u have drivers - are they free? u buy ur water - at least i know in this country it is actually against the law for the water coy to turn off ur water even if ur owning - highest they take u to court. what is the level of unemployment in nigeria, how easy is it to live a comfortable life in nigeria - and u can't even enjoy it cos ur scared of getting kidnapped, raped , robbed or dying from stray bullet or a pot hole in the road. if naija is so good why do the rich not use the hospitals in nigeria - i thought EVERYONE IN NAIJA COULD AFFORD REDDINGTON. please life is hard whereever you are. people are just plan lazy - even when i was schooling in nigeria i came over here during my hols worked and went back - so if i wanted to pose back then it was with my sweat - not stealing or asking some relative for cash - or being and aristo big girl. i'm just so fed up with these people back home who claim to be better than those abroad but deck out their homes with foriegn goods. no one is saying anywhere is better and not everyone is a cleaner, some of us are consultants, accountants, doctors, lawyers. if nah only the sufferhead where dey for UK u dey know move with a diff crowd. |
dappssee:yeah we will do that - thats why i'm not allowed to go out alone whenever i'm in nigeria cos of kidnapping. can u buy peice of mind - imagine me trying to plan a wedding in Nigeria and have security as a budgetd cost na wah o. make we suffer here. not all of us are suffering abeg. |
chelseabmw:some of us are here cos its been our home for over 25 years (in my case) u do know that there is a generation of nigerian children now that have second homes. i have been fortunate enough to experience life in nigeria as well. so not all of us are here to hussle - putting everyine in the same pot. |
come chop abeg tell them i think what a lot of our people suffer from is inferiority complex - why else will u be doing cleaning job, security or underground job then take loan to pose for naija once every 2 years. its all about posing fake life, what designers ur wearing what car ur driving. chei i dey laugh - i don't believe in all that fake life and showing off - when i go to Nigeria highest i will get my nails done - as for dressing or posing what for. I live a comfortable life, i'm content with what i have so why the fake flossing. if extended family want to hate me cos i don't send them money or expensive gifts that is their own. i work for everything I have so they should to - if they need to be asking me for ipod it means its not for them - afterall we all have to make sacrifices - i'm giving up a short break in the Mediterranean next month for a new laptop. or should i do what some lazy peeps do and ask someone to buy one for me. |
u lot are so funny - i have told people countless times that if the only people u know that are doing well are into illegal things then find a new group of friends - i am lucky and my family is here so i don't get those calls but i do get the odd person ask for stupid stuff like laptop and ipod and phone. so of us are doing very well thank you - and yes i always tell people how we pay bills here. at least i will not be scared of my sisters here in uni turning to aristos just to make ends meet or just out of pure greed like a lot of our fine young ladies back home. for those that send - sorry o. for those that pretend that money grows on trees here - more fool u - but for those hating on those abroad - i pity u |
hardbody:how many people have this. |
hardbody:who is fighting arrest abeg stop painting us with the same brush - some of us are legit ok. no where is better than the other - but when the mentality of Nigerians change things will be better. if our leaders where not so bloody greedy and evil they would leave something in the treasury for basic infrastructure - how can in 2009 people still don't have light and water. na wah o |
unix4real1:unix - for ur info i live here and Nigeria so i kind of know what I'm talking about - the life i live in Nigeria is not what the majority of the population can enjoy. in a population of approx 150 million - how many people can say they take annual holidays, how many people would be able to afford big hospital bills if they were seriously ill, how many people can comfortable put their kids thru a good school, how many people drive jeep and have a gen. justcos u happen to live in a posh area in Lagos or Abuja does not mean the majority of people in Nigeria are enjoying or else u wouldn't have hundreds of young men dying in the Sahara desert every year killing themselves to leave Nigeria. how many young men and women in Nigeria have jobs - at least here u can get something to feed you. why do people fly their wives out of Nigeria to give birth - is it cos the hospitals in Nigeria are so much better. when i drive around Nigeria in my air conditioned car and driver i look out and feel like crying when i see how the "average" Nigerian lives. is it healthy that rubbish is just dumped on the road for all and sundry to see and passer by to catch one kind illness - is it right i can turn the tap on in my house here and brush my teeth but have to use bottled water to brush in Nigeria, not everyone does cleaning job in this London - as i have mentioned on this forum previously the people i know are qualified professionals who live comfortable lives. if the people u know do cleaning and still have housemates at this age then u need to find a new crew |
yeah my family is here so i don't have to worry about people asking for anything |
do what i do and don't give. simple - now no one expects anything from me. by the time i finish listing bills for them and telling them that life in nigeria is better self - they go begin pity me!! ha ha ha ![]() anyway i haven't finished enjoying my holidays its for some lazy bum asking me for my hard earned dirty cash - nonsense!! |
so in nigeria do you have house mates as well. U are comparing different levels of life with that of naija and the UK, why are u living in an area where jamo go mug u, thats says it all really. where u driving jeep in london - does the average nigerian have money for gen and fuel for gen - does the average nigerian drive jeep. does the average nigerian have access to goo healthcare in nigeria - i guess when u get really ill u will be one of those coming here to use the free NHS. nonsense |
my bad make that 80% but come on now - is it right that a country with the wealth Nigeria has still has people suffering from diseases that have all but been eradicated in the developed world - such as cholera anyway we still have a long way to go and if its so great why are those people in the programme lying thru their nose to leave naija. |
the poster is foolish - u live in London returned to London and then asked the question. at least as a woman i can get up and go to tescos at 11pm or 3am without the fear of getting raped or kidnapped. nonsense if you don't have money in Nigeria do u think u can survive - or are u forgetting the NHS. get sick in naija without money - ur arse will be back at heathrow b4 u can turn ur head. |
tunnytox:so the whole of nigeria looks like lekki and abuja abi - abeg go ad sit down. why are we lying to ourselves. if you cut nigeria into 100 is it not still 95% bad. yes there are run down areas in the west but at least people have a choice of living in the bad areas. |
can someone please direct this man to pregnancy websites. http://www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy put your query in google and u will find as much info as u need. bleeding doesn't indicate twins it usually means there could be a problem, i don tire |
if the father of this girl doesn't kill this useless ignorant man then i will do it myself. i am so fed up of these stories that i hear coming out of nigeria. |
joxiri:sorry i don't know such people in my life and when people like me are paying close to £1k in tax alone that excluding national insurance u get my annoyance at people who abuse the system and i am told to wait 4 hours in a&e and questioned about my status even thou i'm a citizen (guess they can't see past my colour) anyway my point is this if i left england today to live in nigeria for 6 months i would be entitiled to nothing even thou i have lived here over 25 years and pay over £11k tax and NI however, these fraudsters (yes that is what they are) come here use the system they have paid nothing towards and go and pose in naija claiming my child was born in london |
phuck_NL:um point of correction - i was delivered in nigeria and have dual nationality so what are u sayig exactly. what she is doing is wasting her money on visa, travel and accomodation here as giving birth in the UK gives your child nothing |
no the poster plans to use the facilities and go - without contributing one penny to the system that will help her. its not the same - after all she is not a citizen and giving birth in the Uk doesn't give ur child citzenship again (so know ur facts) ur kids can only be citizens if the parents are. |
OAM4J:DID this ur friends wife pay for this or was it my tax that picked up the bill. yes i have asked the question |
what about foreign graduates - na wah o nigeria really does take the issue of time for granted. |
but hey poster don't feel bad - God can only bless few men with a wife like my husbands, ![]() |
