All these capping are blanket statements!
We have heard enough of these statements during the time of buhari!
If you want to see results, give them timelines!
Well what do you expect from a president who needed another president to threaten him before he recognized his primary duties as president!
And beyond that give them strategies out of an abundance of security think tanks.

If not all you will have are merely more checkpoints and the familiar reactive deployments of personnel after incidents.

There must be a way to isolate these brigands living within communities. There must be a way of tracking outlaws wandering in the wildernesses and ungoverned spaces in Nigeria. There must be a way of cutting off funding to these terrorists. There must be a way of identifying their supply chains. There must be a way of neutralizing the radical ideologies fueling the Jihadists.

All these things form a comprehensive base the war against insecurity will rest and only proper coordination with all the government institutions involved will solve this highly complex issue.

Funny people.
Instead of focusing on what they can get from leadership or government or the democracy itself the talk is always about how small they are and how inconsequential their aspirations are compared to their overlords. A feudal mindset indeed.

The truth behind talk like this is that if certain leaders are too big to be subject to contest, then they are also too big to be subject to the people's will.

And that is what we have seen since 1999, leaders that don't listen, don't respond to the people. They get away by the ignorance of the people to rule them anyhow.

If our democracy has been an outstanding success why is the country this poorly governed. Why is poverty still an issue 26 years and counting after the much berated military exited governance. Why is security substantially worse.

I think we should have a mindset change and start owning this process so that we can actually install the people and the governments we want and know can really do the job the way we want it.

What are the details contained in the 'fresh directives'.
What are the new ideas.
What are the new reforms.
What is the new direction.
That is the essence of real governance. Giving skin and bones to ideas, vision and promise.

In this democracy it is hard to know who the architect of the fight against insecurity is. Who is doing the thinking, planning the strategies. Because in other democracies the security institutions including the military are confined to execute whatever strategies they are given. They are mission oriented. They cannot solve complex national problems.

I have said many times. I really do not understand what the role of the NIPSS is. They are supposed to an apolitical think tank when it comes to issues like this. They should be able to tell truth to power while levitating above whatever sentiment politics disperses into society.

It is them a serious government can tap for ways to put a lid on this problem. The military alone CANNOT solve the kind of insecurity we face because the roots are ingrained and interwoven into the fabric of our identity and persuasions. We need real leadership in these matters.

Why not.

Nigeria's democracy is by consultants and for contractors. That is all the government does, collect revenue and award contracts, very little actual governance takes place. So bad that some MDA's will humble the famous Turkish bazaars.

Sanusi said it a while ago. Rent seeking economy where influence is the currency making briefcase billionaires overnight.

Last week or so Mr. Atiku raised a point of concern about the consultant....or is it contractor....or is it broker engaged by the FIRS, and he was roundly shouted down and so it will be that when the next government calls we will then hear the dirty details about what they peddle today as forthright, above board and legitimate deals.

Same victimized country, different economic rapists having their way.

What are the details of the radical reforms that have been proposed and agreed upon.
What are the about turns these leaders have intended to tackle this precedence.

Because as they say desperate times call for desperate measures and if the 1 billion a month contribution goes to buying Hilux trucks with sirens and flashing lights then we might as well be building a night club not a security network fit for the present mission.

If they cannot do anything to address the rampaging insecurity maybe it will be wise of them to conduct their business discreetly. But it is their nature to make noise all over the place to impress and oppress knowing not that the people that care to notice can actually do something about it for once.

Even government can longer save themselves. Exactly how they intend to protect the general public befuddles me.

Politics › Re: Tinubu receives ex-CDS CG Musa in Aso Rock by Reference(m): 6:16am On Dec 02, 2025
Good governance in a democracy is about a trade in ideas not people. Institutions are built around ideas not people.

When democratic nations have serious challenges you see them debate ideas about solving them. Here we believe so much more in the he individual that we have little to no collective capacity to solve things.

The holy book says consider the ant....and all it's qualities. Even in feudal states, where monarchies reign the king consults a court of wise MEN.

The UK has a deep illegal immigration crossing problem for as long as Nigeria had its steep insecurity problems. Governments have come and gone and all have traded in ideas of how to sort it out.

Can the Nigerian government create a think tank to bash heads together from all parts of the country and all parts of the federating units and government agents to squeeze through a whole raft of ideas on how to solve this festering problem rather than depending on the capabilities of one single individual.

Only that will bring to the light the real issues underneath, the real people behind it and put to bed a lot of misconceptions and suspicion about this fight against insecurity.

Don't blame the National Assembly, blame the people who elected them without a job description and without supervision particularly those that endorse the ineptitude and defend them with gusto.

If I was employed to a job without description, and my bosses never paid attention to my performances then how am I to be blamed for the desolate state of the establishment.

Nigerians refuse to take ownership of the democracy that belongs to them. They refuse to accept that they are the employers of every public servant and political office holder in this country. They cannot imagine that a senator, governor or even the president is answerable to them. Their DNA induced feudal mindset is hardwired to be subservient to every title in the land.

The mindset of the average Nigerian is the cause of the derelict nature of the Nigerian state.

Jakumo:
This highway attack by hundreds of armed men is an indication that an army of occupation is advancing on Nigeria, town by town.

The level of organization that it takes to set up a massive highway ambush with hundreds of shooters, means that an effective and battle-tested company-level command structure is in place where small disorganized armed terrorist groups once operated.
The fact is that people see the massing of these armed groups before their operations but there are no structures or channels on ground for the average citizen to report to.

Security they say is everyone"s business but where is the market to trade information.

Developed countries have emergency networks. You call and there is always a reply and always a dispatch. No matter where you are there is security jurisdiction, someone's responsibility. There are no un-policed spaces.

Someone is responsible for that area and in rural places in other countries most citizens know the policemen by name, know where they live and interact with such officers on a daily basis. That is security being everyone's business in truth. Policing at the grassroots, at the street level and at the service to the people.

It does not take 'special orders' for police to be deployed to incident scenes in America, Great Britain, China, India or Saudi Arabia.

Been saying exactly this for ages.

As long as those in government have an alternative to good governance to get into power or retain power, the quality of leadership will continue to slide.

If I can bypass the meter of public scrutiny and citizen endorsement successfully there is no reason why I should pay the tariff of performance.

Everyone with a right thinking brain knows the present leaders realize Nigerians are totally fed up with their multi dimensional sufferings under this regime. That is why their strategists advised they shop for governors instead.

Have the governors, senators and reps on your team and the voting public doesn't matter. You have a complete set of tools to win by all means.

So Mr. Monday is merely replying air traffic control. That he is set to start his engines and taxi his craft for take off. So strap in folks. Post 2027 will be the wildest ride ever seen in this democratic experience.

They said Kogi under the 'white lion' was ultra secure. I don't doubt it. But what has happened to his son who has 'inherited the throne', why is security worsening.

Simple. Political leadership cannot be successfully inherited. The nature of political leadership is such that the traits that make for success are not inherent, not inbuilt, there is nothing like politically successful DNA.

Political success is rather drawn out by demand, by the people putting pressure on a vessel that has virtue in it. And like a syringe, if the vessel is empty only air will come out.

The only way to guarantee upwardly stable, qualitative governance is to ensure it is free, fair and ultra competitive. Let everyone PROVE himself just like a HRman will screen for the best candidate to serve in a firm.

Nothing else guarantees success.

What do you mean by playing politics. We are here because of bad politics. The failure of the citizenry to have demanded for a security blueprint from the candidates in 2023 before electing them.

We better wake up and stop uncoupling politics from governance when the rain is falling and coupling it when the sun shines.

Another election is coming in 2027 if you like just sing and dance at political rallies and not ask serious questions like citizens of other democracies are doing day and night.

No plans presented, no ensuing debates on such plans, means no promises delivered, period. That is democracy 101. And it applies to all candidates, anyone that will dare to aspire to lead this country. Enough is enough.

Tell us in detail how you will tackle insecurity. Use the usual delegate bribe money to hire security experts and think-tanks both at home and abroad to fashion strategies in your preparation to lead. That is how it works.

We are tired, fed up with electing unprepared people into office.

Imagine about 11,566 polices are on VIPs nonsense assignment.

This report just got to us right now as a confirmed statistics.

They should all report back to their station and focus on their primary civil duties.
That is about 15 additional policemen per local government area. Even if all will be patrol cops this is paltry. Simply cannot cover all the area, all the time with all the resolve required to tackle insecurity.

This is not a problem fixing solution, just a stop gap, feel good gesture.

Not remotely as bold as a decision to franchise security to the other federating units.

This decision will be a national tree shaker and I believe the racoons behind the insecurity in Nigeria will squeal vociferously as they tumble out.

Because for the life of me I simply cannot understand how in the face of crushing insecurity and genocidal level deaths some folks adamantly resist alternative ideas from within and help from outside.

Agendas are being tested here folks and day by day the average citizen is looking at his neighbour with the suspicion some are actually enjoying this or probably benefitting from the status quo.

Another one.

The farm is just 500 metres from a 'military camp'.
In the rural north that is a direct line of sight and certainly close enough to hear gunshots.
But what does it matter.

The military is not under your command. Also, the military has to be instructed to act (they are not a response institution, the police is).

So you can be abducted at the gates of a military formation (has happened before) and nothing will happen until 'instructions from above' are passed.

How many times will we say the word - structure. And until we get the structure of security right in this country we will continue to lament.

Your leaders and representatives don't want you to have police serving you at the grassroots but they all want police serving them in their homes, offices and riding shotgun in their limousines.

And yet you hail them and commend them for, (as Oshiomhole says) doing well and doing all they can. Sorry.
