Toh, Gunners fans, what is happening.... Is this team actually better than last season's after spending close to 300 million. Because what I can see in both stress tests (Liverpool and City) is no different from last season. Still the same slow, languid midfield build up, the same side to side passing. You bought a striker for close to 100 and no shot on target because no sensible pass to him.... What exactly is the problem. |
Truths9ja:Shouldn't have started Saliba for the same reason he started Trossard. Saliba is coming off a period out and should have deputised Mosquera until up to speed. The struggle for pace against Haaland was evident. |
seunmsg:Oga it is okay. You have nothing, absolutely nothing to gain from trying to defend or justify. If you have a personal reputation to protect the least you can do is to quietly observe and watch how it plays out. These people you back have little moral fiber worth backing. It is not worth it. You need to read the times and know this country is reaching a boil. People are no longer gripped with fear over how they are ruled. |
A decade ago in opposition they objected to it's sale. A decade later and 3 billion dollars down the drain, the are silent with rotten eggs in their faces. The story of Nigeria. Everyday you look back to what happened in 2015 and what could have been. This is with out a doubt the saddest, the most devastating period in this country's history perhaps since the civil war. |
So na the pesin wey put us for all dis wahala be dis. See her mouth like apple chopper.... ![]() |
Wimkeh:Exactly. Stay in your country and grow it to becoming powerful and prosperous. Then you will become useful to yourself and useful to America. I think Trump wants a more prosperous and diverse world. A world where a Ukraine is able to defend itself, where Europe is able to chart its own course without depending on US might. Where a Nigeria is able to care for its people's health, education and prosperity. Because when you are prosperous you are ble to trade properly with the US and prosper the U S even more. I think folks in the US are beginning to see the limitations of a unipolar world where it has led for so long, sucked so much virtue from other nations that the world has become unfertile to its ideals, it has started to rot from within. It is the same destructive principle of monopolies in economies. One becomes too big at the expense of others, feeding off them. When the others die off the monopolist starves itself to death. |
IPDGP:Simple. If Dangote takes full control of the midtream and down stream sectors he will become powerful enough to dictate the price at the pumps going forward. That is a dangerous place to be. Already there are no alternative refiners, if DAPMAN goes bust then imports are likely to end. Good for the Naira, bad for the market. One man can decide how much we pay for gasoline for years to come. |
Step by step this country is headed towards Golgotha. There is an overwhelming smell of gasoline in the air and it wouldn't take much to set it alight. More than anytime before one error of judgement, one misread of the people of this country and it will go up in flames. The government has better wisen up and act with maximum restraint. They have removed virtually all safeties in society. Nothing is holding the people back at the moment and it is becoming alarming. There is palpable anger, rage in the land. Once again, government should read the mood of the people carefully. |
Of course it will favour contractors and dodgy consultants selling smoke first. When the pork is eaten the bones are left for the peons to fight over. |
treesun:Movie grade incident (no pun intended). But these law men are really smart. In conjunction with the state department his visa was granted to save them the stress and cost of involving INTERPOL. They just set trap and let him come to them. Some of our citizens here would have gone to church to give testimonies of getting a US visa knowing not that the Lord indeed works in mysterious ways.... ![]() Sure Hollywood will make a movie about this caper in no distant time and you can be sure another Ajobola will be ready to pan bootleg tickets again.....pun intended.... ![]() |
ariesbull:There are engineering solutions, there are environmental solutions and there are common sense....social solutions. But I guess the people are incapable of applying any. You will be amazed that certain creatures of the animal kingdom do understand times and seasons and understand how to react to adversity by migration or resilience. |
Angelfrost:Tell them oh. So they can teach their children where not to buy land in the future, where not to bother living, except they go study semi aquatic living at the marine school of Venice..... ![]() |
Konquest:But it was proved recently that this President used equally colourful language in describing a past President. And this Minister in question is not exactly a gentleman when it comes to the art of a slur. I think some folks view it as a case of what is good for the goose. For if you interrogate it from the other side what you often get on these sorts of matters is a defense that goes like, 'well it was politics and Jagaban the maestro was strategizing into office'. But when the other side does it, it becomes issues of state security and national threat. So if slurs are okay for certain people at certain levels democracy demands that it be okay for everyone. And we should all remember that Sowore too is a, or has been a Presidential candidate,, so perhaps is equally big enough to get away with such hideous behaviour. I think our problem here is 'size comparison'. We see this man as being 'small' and unworthy of being rude . |
Said it before and I say it again. The past actions of this government and leadership or lack of it will continue to haunt it throughout it's tenure. The internet is a perfect library of historical facts. Who said and did what and when and no amount of white washing or gaslighting can destroy the truth. This leadership is culpable in the situation of the economy we have today, simple. It brought that government into office. It held leadership positions in that government. And it praised every, every, every single policy and program the government deployed up until the currency change. And even after the tenure was over and the principal retired from office, the government was still praised as having performed well. How do you explain that. How do you square that circle. Remember that in the Buhari government the Tinubu section dominated the economic team. And I remember speaking on this forum many, many times of the need for Mr. Tinubu as party leader to implore on Mr. Buhari the need for good and proper financial governance, caution in the areas of ways and means, external borrowing, fiscal discipline, reducing cost of governance, etc as topical issues whenever they arose. In the ember days of the administration when transition politics ignited I did warn that Mr. Tinubu distance himself politically just as Obama did from Clinton, on account of the mismanagement of the economy. That it will become a cog in his legacy. But I guess Mr. President held on to the very end. Now he speaks about inheritance. And now I speak about the lack of integrity. Because it is absolutely disingenuous to keep silent when you could have spoken up, when you were the one and only person who could have prevented all this. Only to cry out later. It is like witnessing a crime and not reporting. In the developed world this can constitute a felony. So this matter will continue to haunt this government throughout it's tenure however long that is. Nigerians will continue to associate this government with the last one just as they too had lumped all the past governments into calling it PDP's 16 years of waste. We are now at year ten going eleven. |
If you live or work in a high rise, three things. 1. Mandatory fire drills regularly. 2. Quality fire detection and suppressing equipment. 3. And most important to offices especially. Minimize clutter and the use of flammable materials. That means for ecample the excessive use of as simple an item as paper and books. That is fuel. It is an office not a fuel depot. In low rise building the number one killer is access. That iron barricade that protects you from external invasion will also hinder your escape. If you have to search for keys to unlock your barricade. In an emergency you are likely doomed. |
What's really baffling about Chelsea is that having bought ten thousand players in the last few years they end up with this lot. Can't pick more that two or three players that other top six clubs will buy. The reruitment team at the Bridge must be truly woeful. |
WizardOfNG:So why does he and his appointees now blame that government for the so called ways and means debt. Isn't that trying to call a dog a bad name. The contradictions of this government just cannot be white washed and try as they may the grace to run a peaceful administration will continue to elude them as long as they do not take responsibility as a party and as a government that has been in power for a decade now. This government took over from the previous one it assisted into power. It supported that government for long 8 years. This President praised the previous one to high heavens at every opportunity it had. And now it turns 180 degree to accuse it of ruining he economy. Only in Nigeria can such failure and total lack of integrity be rewarded with any sort of electoral win. But Nigerians who do this are suffering for their inability to relate their electoral chioces to their unfortunate experiences. We have no one but ourselves to blame. If we care to remember, the GEJ government was removed for the very reasons that are being excused today. Call it hate, call it anything. Gaslight to high heavens. The absolute truth is that the APC met a bad situation in 2015 and has made it a hundred times worse. |
Just like Miami and Venice. Lagos has no long term viability. In a generation most parts will part of the Atlantic ocean. No one today can deny the devastating effects of global warming. With all the rainfall recently the sun peeped out of the clouds in Abuja today and grilling everything in it's path. I am not looking forward to the coming dry season. Not at all. |
ntyce:The Secret Service is not equivalent to the DSS. There are some functions that bear similarity like being the PPD of the President and Vice, including their families but the Secret Service was borne out of past incidents that posed existential threats to the state. Those specific incidents define their existence and mandate today. The DSS on the other hand is a third iteration of a restructured police service system. By this they are like a secret police. And this is why the DNA of the police remains in their mode of operations covering anything and everything that posed a threat to state and state actors. That is why I am surprised that people say they have no business in what is a personal matter between Mr. Sowore and Mr. President. For the police cum DSS, there is no personal matter. And abuse, slander, character assassination are offences open to attention. The US Secret Service on the other hand deals with threats to the life of the US President and Vice for the specific reason of protecting the integrity of government. So as in this case it is not about the temperament of the President, it is more about the security of the office holder because of the country he governs. |
Racoon:We have been talking, wailing, crying, lamenting about the need to restructure Nigeria for years, decades now..... But we don't anymore. Now we mention it only in passing. Because we don't think Nigeria is viable long term. And all hopes were totally lost when a few years ago a respectable intellect in power. Then as high as the person of the vice President said and I quote, 'restructuring is not the problem of Nigeria. The problem of Nigeria is revenue allocation....' That is, he thought, like most Nigerians think that the problem of Nigeria is money. So I gave up. Because this country is filled with people that don't understand let alone are able to attempt to solve her fundamental problem. The problem of her future. The problem of deciding how we exist as a nation, simple. Because even animals in the forest understand how to coexist to form what we call the balance of nature. But Nigerians exist in this geographical entity to destroy themselves. Let us hope the last man standing will wake up to see.what he was part of creating, a desolate ruin of a country. |
AntiChristian:Bit you guys are all over the place saying debt is good. Can't you imagine a situation where Nigeria as a country will be dragged this way...with the way we are collecting foreign loans hand over fist. |
But the ruling party has a thing for debt so it is no surprise their candidates see financial flagrance as normal.... ![]() |
Torrential rain this evening in Abuja after a sunny afternoon. |
pek:How many coaches are left that haven't tried United. Very soon they will have to look at other sports coaches or even motivational speakers. Because football coaches are not working in this club. United is less than a shadow of the Ferguson years. Just painful to watch. I thought this season will be different but what I am seeing is not even up to mid table team form. |
Football is cruel. Absolutely cruel. But you can only make your luck and this is the stuff that makes Liverpool champions. Liverpool will retain their crown. No doubt. The signs are come early. |
It is like Scott Parker is tired of collecting bags full of goals. If you can't beat them, park the bus. |
What government should be doing is spawning hundreds if not thousands of midscale enterprises up and down the value chain to cover the range of industrial, commercial and service sectors of the economy. Target import substitution and this will attract investments and buyouts to recover capital when these concerns have stabilized. This will slow inflation, increase productivity and create jobs in one package. And best of all it will create a values based economy weaning it off its two ills of contracting and mercantilism. |
Because leadership in Nigeria is not visionary. Those in authority do not know what nation building means. They are like parents who birth children without objective. Just give them food and clothes and that is all, that is parenting they say. They have no purpose for the citizens and the citizens like wayward children of irresponsible parents roam around without leadership and jump into anything that puts food on their table. But visionary parents lead the family along lines of legacy, legacy ventures, legacy visions, trans generational achievemens. They may be money making or not but they grow a people into a formidable force on earth. I repeat for the umpteenth time. What government should be doing with its people, its resources is to lead them TO GLOBAL ACHIEVEMENTS. You can sector it, you can laser the vision into even one task, one that puts the nation on the map of the world, just one positive thing that makes your nationals renowned and world beaters. China selected industrialization. They may not be so good in financials, in commerce, in sports, in entertainment, in ICT, in many things but they had a vision to dominate the world of 'making things', just as Japan decades ago, just as Germany centuries ago. And today they are a force. Where is leadership of this country DELIBERATELY leading Nigeria to. What vision do they have for the average citizen to elevate them to global dominance. That is where you will find their time and treasure invested in. Folks, look for visionaries and empower them into leadership positions to superintend over your future and that of your generation or live all your lives on earth in mediocrity. The japa syndrome is symptomatic of children leaving the homes of their wayward, carefree, visionless parents and never coming back. It is not a credit to the country or a badge of honour. |
ppogba:So the present government too should take its criticism in peace and stop haranguing it's critics because it is the direct cause of the economic problem we have today. This leadership today stopped the removal of subsidy in 2012 then watched as a government it subsequently supported and Installed balloon the debts to the realm of unsustainability. It cannot escape, erase or whitewash that fact. Hindsight will always be 20/20. Why didn't Mr. President as party leader implore Mr. Buhari to stop borrowing and remove subsidies all the years between 2015 and 2023. Is that how politics is played in Nigeria. Where is the integrity when you keep silent and watch your country burn just because of personal ambition. |
anonimi:Just took the words out of my mouth. This question will continue to haunt this government, this party, this president for as long as the economy refuses to fly. The only luck they have is that not only do Nigerians have short memories but they are not analytical, cannot infer experiences today from actions yesterday. They cannot understand what truly happened in 2012 and what the results are today. The deception, the misinformation, the insidious tact aimed at crippling that government. They knew subsudies were unsustainable and will damage the economy totally so they willfully desired a damaged economy to gain politocal capital and eventually power. |
