You want to buy laboratory equipment and you give out a contract for the supply thereby losing a percentage of the funds budgeted for that. Why not just contact the manufacturers and buy from them directly like normal people do. You would think austerity will do at least one critical thing for this country, that is reform the way government business is done. But no. The are still all about contracting and consultancies, dodgy transactions that mask graft and corruption. Yet those establishments that give out those so called contracts are overloaded with staff doing little, people who should be in the market themselves to buy these items directly from the source at the best possible prices to save government and us the people a lot. Austerity is about efficiency in resource management. |
kennyz247:Hahahahaha....this is a low blow even UFC will not allow....haba. But United is playing a lot better than last season. It is not easy to reform a team managed by so many coaches these past years, Amorim will get right. Maybe not contenders this season but United will do well. |
Livelystone01:Exactly, consistency is the matter and that is what is being discussed in the post match studios. If you have given one you have to give the other or you don't give both. |
Carl99:I know reading is a problem these days but try reading my post again, diligently. Having said that what I mentioned is exactly what happened, again. The push by Leny Yoro before the goal will be a foul anywhere else on the pitch and people will continue to discuss these matters as long as refereeing decisions are inconsistent. Good one by Iwobi today. Played a great game and a deserved man of the match. For United there is great improvement over laat season and they will become competitive sooner than later. So who is the better buy between Sesko and Gyokeres ? |
Azazyel:The foul was neither here nor there. He was bumped first by Mount who continued in dragging him down by the shirt. Moreover Luke Shaw was all over another player doing some x-rated stuff. Penalty, yes but as the halftime commentary says, consistency....no |
The jury is still out on Bruno Fernandes as a great player. Not because of this penalty miss but the fact that great players are rock solid mentalists. |
CodeTemplarr:This is simply not true. Without technology there is simply no way to feeding the Earth's population in a hundred years from now. The options will either be to starve or willingly forgo some staples such as beef which is one of the most inefficient and wasteful to produce. Nigerians of all people can see the need for science, technology and management in agriculture with the ceaseless clashes between herders and farmers. |
Pakute:This is a great initiative if it works as described. The cost of doing business remains highly expensive. And this impacts on the ability of government to grow jobs and traction real productivity. |
Hmmm....when your employer exchanges your salaries for IOU's....then you realise you are going to slave there till death. In those days the norm was employers owing workers for a month's long tasking. These days and from henceforth it is workers that will owe their employers for the privilege of being enslaved on their sites, fields, workshops and offices. Strange times indeed. The government that had exclusive rights to the evil of the debt trap is now franchising to the citizens one institution after another. It is in effect mortgaging it's responsibility to building a prosperous and equitable society by the instruments of good governance. This government's model: If you are poor, just borrow. |
humberjade:That kid, Dowman is hot on Saka's heels. Any slip ups and Arteta will not hesitate to play him more often. It is becoming clear that Saka has overplayed and battered his body these past three seasons. The frequency of injuries for a person that young shows the club has not managed his game time well. |
Odegaard off Gyokeres scores. How? No short, short, passes, no slow build up, no compression of the defence but clean through pass from the middle behind the defence. That is what strikers need, that is how Scandanavian strikers score. Eze must bench Odegaard. That is what he provides. A bonafide 10. |
heracles1:Arsenal's attack, their forward play is too slow and predictable, too easy to defend against. |
Arsenal should not wait to get Eze on the pitch and Odegaard on the bench. This Norwegian boy is a forward play killer and with him no Arsenal striker will score more than 5 goals this season. |
Goke7:Let's talk about the things that matter not telecoms and availability of internet. Governments around the world are not elected for that and their KPI's are not assessed on those things. Standards of living as regards jobs, inflation, interest rates that either raise podrty levels or reduce them. Security as it relates to life expectancy. That is anything from crime rates to education, health, the environment and other factors relating to social security. These two are basic and should be the main reasons why people vote governments into office or vote them out. What I am saying is that these factors have not been bettered by any subsequent regine since independence. |
Goke7:Certainly, because since independence Nigeria has not seen a better tomorrow. A country in constant decline as far as all the indices of life and qualitative living. Just check them out, poverty, security & crime, healthcare, education, justice, etc. Practically nothing is better today than it was ten years ago, twenty years ago, thirty years ago.... Today an inflation rate of 30 percent is seen as normal. Today you sell your car for more than it was bought after significant depreciation. Are these things not weird in a sane society. |
He had a far smaller government than we have now and it was not overun by sly contractors and crooked consultants peddling all sorts of white elephant projects and phoney programs aimed at ravishing the treasury. A lot more people worked for a relatively honest living because the man at the helm had other tools of power other than peddling privilege. |
Nothing else to say. But what is government's priority now. Pay rises for political office holders. And as one peon said and I quote, 'It is necessary so that when (they) visit their constituents they will have enough to meet the growing needs there' This is the summary of the Nigerian feudal state. A people so broken they cannot raise their heads to imagine a better country that works for all. |
duduade:So you think. This government knows what they are doing. It is re 'culturing' this country. Haven't you heard of debt trap. Once these workers unions take the bait and fall in the trap they will quickly lose their ability to advocate. Because debts will be issues of the law and once their members begin to face the law on account of their inability to repay their ranks will be decimated. A lender is always the servant of the giver. The debt society we are building will become an instrument of control and coercion by the government in the long term as soon as all sectors are captured. People should insist on a well run economy that serves to the well being of all citizens instead of this survivalist system being forced down our throats. |
franchasng:The US has not stopped immigration. It is trying to stop illegal immigration, that is anything from overstays to people smuggling across the southern border in particular. No reasonable country accepts that and Nigeria of all nations racked by cross border banditry and terrorism should be the last people on earth to support open borders or a malfunctioning immigration system. Look at the number of foreigners recently captured in the country involved in cyber crimes and thus further soiling the reputation of Nigeria. |
The US government has every right to protect their country and it's citizens. Just recently their Nigerian counterparts have released arrested and detained Chinese law breakers back into the society they are obviously exploiting. We are not ready to build a proper, working country that can prosper and retain it's best citizens. |
I no more speak about security matters. Said enough. When Nigerians are tired of dying like bugs they know what to do. |
Maxymilliano: |
Don't know about this one. The turnover of players especially strikers at Milan is a source of concern for any player coming in from a foreign league. He has to hit the ground literally running, jumping and shooting for a bag load of goals this season. |
No one is talking about inflation here which is the real problem. That crate of eggs in the US which costs N25,500 equivalent will cost about N86,000 in 20 years going by an inflation rate of 5 percent on average. In Nigeria at the going inflation rate of 20 percent that crate which costs N6,000 today will cost N96,000 in 20 years time if inflation remains as hot as it is. To maintain the present standard of living in affording those eggs the minimum wage will need to be somewhere about N1.1 million naira by then. Now sit back and imagine in the context of Nigeria today which of these 3 scenarios is possible and which is not. People should realise that inflation is the real silent killer because earnings in employment, business, enterprise, etc are not infinitely elastic and can never match this crazy rateof inflation. The only thing that can come close is productivity and even then who can sustainably add 20 percent more hours to his work schedule year on year for example Government MUST being down inflation if it hopes to lay a glove on rising poverty and the resultant escalating crime rate. |
They are winning elections despite questionable governance. Of course there lies the confidence to reward themselves. Continue collecting stipends to renew their mandates. We will all learn by experience how democracy works. |
Obviously merit was not the basis of appointing the past Head of Immigration so expecting meritorious service is just an illusion. And certainly merit is not the basis of the present Head of Immigration so releasing criminals and law breakers will be part of his terms of service. Ethnicity and crass sentiment in and out of government will continue to corrode society until the people wake up to it with a sand blaster. |
Zony94:He is more direct than the ever dancing Odegaard who in my opinion he should replace. With Odegaard in that team Gyokeres will not score more than 5 goals this season. Eze is a bonafide 10 and will work perfectly with a 9 just as he has done successfully with Mateta at Palace. Even Arteta has admitted they have to change the way they play and discard the false 9 technic which has not yielded trophies the past 5 years. |
kayttah:In a near fantasy world those three could have been the Super Eagles attack. Had my doubts on the transfer after Skysports this evening but Josh Kroenke:s tweets seems to confirm it. Medicals for Friday. Well it is a good signing of a guy who has be one a big game player. The competition for dead balls with Rice will be fierce. |
Totally agree with Moggi. If contracts are not respected by any one party the whole system collapses and everyone loses. |
A country where every public servant is a criminal just cannot develop. A system that cannot contain greed and prevent theft by its operators s not fit for purpose. When will Nigerians be fed up with a country in terminal decline, eaten to a carcass by the vultures they put in high offices. What can restructure this country or bring a life changing revolution to it's doorsteps. One thing for sure. In another few months or a couple of years the present head of that organisation will be the next one investigated for corruption. Why in the world can't we as a people hold them to account WHILE IN OFFICE. |
Betanaija42moro:True federalism will have states with laws not universally acceptable and in a democracy this is okay. If the majority wants and votes for their state to be governed as a theocracy so be it. If you can't bear it relocate. There are certain Americans that cannot move out of mid America the so called bible belt or move to the coastal states of debauchery. Different strokes for different folks I guess. |
