wildernessVoice:Hmmm. Perhaps he was delivering a package to 'Homestead Rescue'.... ![]() |
kpankpangolo:Depends on the films you watch. Even as a kid watching Christopher Reeves version of 'Superman 1' you can clearly see and understand rural America with dusty roads and water wells. The US is the most open society in terms of information. If you want to find out the State with the worst urban roads just Google it and you will be amazed at infrastructural decay there. So bad that even Discovery Channel has a piece on it. There is dysfunctionality and poverty everywhere in the world. It is just a matter of proportion and relativity. |
Sad. That means I wasted two years of my life on that place, mountain sickness and all. This country is just not worth it. Until Nigeria is restructured, forget it. We just cannot develop. Don was a visionary man but it takes much more than a food seed to get a good crop. |
Bimow:The Saudi royals used the UCH at Ibadan in times past you said. But the UCH still exists or has it been demolished? So when folks say "build hospitals", as a response to deadbeat presidents dying abroad I don't understand. Because Nigeria does not lack hospitals. We have them in number. What we lack and what we should be speaking about, asking for is a working, functional medicare system. Yes the problem is systemic like most Nigeria problems. We operate dysfunctional institutions not fit for purpose. Yes they may be dirty, unkempt, poorly equiped, short staffed but they exist. And my concern is that the average Nigerian thinks he needs to build a new hospital everytime he falls ill as the solution to medicare. Nothing can be further from the truth. |
Mr Japan is simply referring to the nation, an address to the average Japanese citizen. He is not speaking to any one individual in government in particular. He may as well say, "Dear Mr. Nigeria, do please build your democracy so that it will develop your country so as to end the humility of endless emigration". These American comedians may play around but the fact is stark. Their country is getting less and less competitive, less and less productive with every new kid country on the block undercutting them with cheaper goods and services. The US will eventually become destitute at this rate of decay. |
gr8ofnnetwork:This is not true and the very reason why democracy is failing in Nigeria and most of Africa. The hallmark of democracy is vigilance and advocacy by those who own and operate democracy, the people. Just as you don't birth a child and 'let him' succeed or fail, or employ staff in your organisation and 'let them' succeed or fail. Everywhere in the world leaders are monitored, assessed, supervised and led along the wishes of the people to very high degrees. That is the difference between a monarchy or autocracy and a democracy. We should drop this feudal mindset that leaders are only elected and should be left to their own devices. |
All Nigeria needs now is strong political opposition, an alternative view to governance to hold it to account. Good governance, good governance, good governance is ultra hard work and is only possible where there is accountability. This is why huge amounts of effort and huge resources have been expended by this government and this leader to entrench authoritarianism via the capture of institutions and a one party state. Left to their devices this country will then be led down through such an undemocratic path it may never recover from and will end up like other nations where revolutions have become inevitable. The essence of democracy is broad based participatory governance where the people are given multiple choices of leadership options and where the leaders actively compete for the approval of the citizens. The ability of any government at any time to keep this ideal healthy is a pointer to the viability and the fortunes of the nation going forward. There is no sporting organisation that will attract sponsorship if it's competitions are attended by just one individual or team. There is no administrative organisation that will run efficiently if it invites bids from only one vendor. Why should any Nigerian think his country can prosper at the behest of any one individual leader or domination of any one political party. |
None of my business. Said enough about these things. Nigerians have chosen to die in large numbers unfortunately. A people that CANNOT govern themselves successfully because of sentiment. |
Atarakpa:A case of dominos. When one power is stripped all other institutions will clamour for liberty. You think the Judiciary ordinarily likes the position they are in ass kissing the Executive for a meal. It is because they have been conquered and strangulated by the lack of democratic vigilance amongst the people. When they see the benefits of just one institution operating independently all other institutions from security to legislative will press for theirs and with it the prisons of feudalism masquerading as democracy will be flung open. The ignorance and fear amongst us citizens is just appalling. It is just sickening to imagine how an individual who was a businessman, a working class person, a civil servant, a person we all know will suddenly gets into office and people will begin to tremble at his feet within days of his assumption. Is it witchcraft or what. What influence. |
adenigga:Another critical restructuring required is to remove the Legislature from the Federal budget. As representatives of the people, the people should directly fund their representatives in the Senate and the House on an individual basis through taxes and levies so that they are accountable to the people who pay them rather than the Executive that fund them. Each State and Local government will then decide the wages and emoluments of their representatives and monitor their performances to guarantee their interests are secured. The way the present Legislative system is structured it only serves the interest of the President which amounts to a duplication of governmental structures. It has got that bad. Seperation of powers, checks and balances, law making for public interest, supervision of governmental institutions are all out of the window simply because the wrong people pay them. |
israelmao:They don't instal or force themselves into power, the people do. The leader of a country is similar to the chairman of a local club or association. They come from within, selected or elected from within and backed from within the group of interested people. |
Africa is a feudal continent. Reason why the great empires of the East and West feasted here for slaves. A people incapable of organizing themselves into viable, egalitarian and prosperous societies. |
sleeknaija:AbI oh. If it the money he invested, why not shamefully ask her for a refund. Imagine. Someone who is aged well beyond the adulthood threshold. |
Bentacur007:I doubt that. The rules are clear. March was the deadline to hitch his wagon and the man failed because he was greedily doing the 'either/or' gamble on the two clubs making muster. Watched him on ESPN the other day pitifully defending himself and claiming he had no influence over the day to day running of the club he clearly owns as if UEFA will be busy chasing him around, snooping and bugging his phones to find out. The rules are clear to preserve the integrity of the competition because anything can happen to influence results. Just ask Formula One how much problems the two driver teams cause is the course of the season. Then you begin to hear the so called 'Team Orders' and the unfair results. |
Now Eze will be pissed enough to want that Gunners move. |
... We call them road side burgers. The ones pressed on the show glass are not the ones you will get when you eventually order. When you factor in the 30 percent yearly inflation and the naira depreciation the reality is likely more humbling. |
Judolisco:Haba, you go consider depreciation nau. Abi na Nigeria economy wey you go buy moto 10 million, use am for five years com sell am for 20 million... ![]() |
aribisala0:This maybe his best option if he cannot be sold or loaned out again. Return to Napoli. Fundamentally he is better than all the strikers they have so he has a chance. No squad goes through the season intact. Injuries, loss of form will always be opportuned moments. He may not be registered for the UCL but domestically he can get back and exit the club on a high. |
OlawaleBammie:You think if Osimen goes on a Bossman, Gala will have a look in....I laugh. This is their only chance of getting him. If he goes for free it is the EPL straight. Even Real Madrid and broke ass Barca looking for freebies will be interested. |
CharleyBright:Napoli is not interested in Osimen's career as much as Osimen is not interested in Napoli's success. It is purely business. When he gets to Gala or whatever club the same issue starts again. We have forgotten how hard Napoli worked to get him from Lille. He will likely sign a 5 year deal and after a couple of years the same musical chairs will start again. Is it not the same problem Gyokeres, Luis Diaz, Rabiu Kwakwanso and every want away striker faces. Once you command value it will be exploited. This is human nature. |
kaludestiny10:Simple. If a player feels he has an upward leaning career he should sign shorter contracts like one or two years so he is a liberty to hop clubs looking for better deals. But trust me no player and no club will do that. The first thing most people seek is stability. A stable income for the player and a stable expenditure for the club. And just as Osimen wants to get a better deal so does Napoli. |
Ooduavoice:Slavery ended with the famous Bossman rule. This is just the normal haggling any enterprise or entrepreneur engages in. How much are you selling.... How much you wan buy.... Ah, too low, I no gree, add money... What is slavery in that. Osimen is still being paid on the contract he signed which has not elapsed. |
ManirBK:Not surprised he is unlikely to play the finals. His agent must have advised him that the Gunners include PTSD in their medicals and after PSG's ass whooping on Sunday he may likely fail... ![]() |
nlfpmod:So what am I to do as a citizen.... go after them? Of what use is this news to me. I go to a restaurant and the chef tells me the onions made his eyes water....and I am like.... ![]() |
ddippset:Na so. The Nigerian in all his ignorant arrogance will say that and then elected a 'strong man' to take over. Guess what....Nigeria is better off today than it was in 2015. |
And how much does the government spend on the Osun economy, to create jobs, to boost enterprise. Because if these things are done you will not need to feed people. |
ICANLecturer:Chelsea does not have the defence to contain PSG's forward play. If Liverpool and Arsenal or Internazionale with vastly superior backlines could not do it.... |
Nothing..... Chelsea simply cannot win. Not against the PSG team we have witnessed over the past three months. The shellacking on Sunday will be headline grabbing. |
AntiChristian:Misfire. I understand that Americans already find it harder to obtain a Nigerian visa than Nigerians getting theirs. |
bizbro:Just a place holder for Militao and a piss poor one at that. However the recurring injuries in Madrid's backline should be a cause for concern upstairs. Btw Rudiger appears to be past his best. His struggles with pace and declining tact awareness is becoming evident. |
This PSG is something else. Blown away the one Goliath after another and guess what they are set to crush the fourth English club. Says so much about the so called Farmer. |
