Nothing..... Chelsea simply cannot win. Not against the PSG team we have witnessed over the past three months. The shellacking on Sunday will be headline grabbing. |
AntiChristian:Misfire. I understand that Americans already find it harder to obtain a Nigerian visa than Nigerians getting theirs. |
bizbro:Just a place holder for Militao and a piss poor one at that. However the recurring injuries in Madrid's backline should be a cause for concern upstairs. Btw Rudiger appears to be past his best. His struggles with pace and declining tact awareness is becoming evident. |
This PSG is something else. Blown away the one Goliath after another and guess what they are set to crush the fourth English club. Says so much about the so called Farmer. |
IykeSent:Just rushed through part of the story. He was never registered as an American citizen or born on American soil and his parents were non native Americans. What I cannot go back to determine is if his father got his citizenship before he was born.... okay, he was born in 86, two years after his father got his citizenship...he has a case. |
Kemetian:But what is the money realized from subsidy removal used for. What hasn't it been invested to reduce inflation, why. This government by its actions for two years has shown it has taken money from Nigerians and funneled it to individuals and peculiar interests. For example you take 4 trillion a year from 200 million people in subsidies and then award a 15 trillion naira, zero yielding commercial contract to one entity employing perhaps no more than 3,000 people. How do you want to control inflation by that. If that amount was spent on seeding industries that can generate employment, making goods and offering services that the citizens either import or spend huge proportions of their incomes procuring then this economy will have gained traction by now. Front end, this government has been excellent in 'gathering resources'. Back end it's failure to invest the so called savings properly is what has damned it. It remains a wasteful, elitist government. Right from when we were kids we had this little knowledge that the richest individuals on earth were not those who traded in gold, diamonds, expensive wines, homes, automobiles or other exclusive stuff but those individuals who made everyday stuff and served the widest customer base called the average citizen be it selling software, packaging goods, or in our case in Nigeria, cement, fuel and spaghetti. This tells you that prosperity for any one named individual, corporation or country is beat served when the largest number of people are served. Prosperity is rooted in people. But when you continuously take from the people to serve only the privileged you can never prosper as a nation. Daddy cannot tell me he cannot afford my video games, birthday parties and vacations claiming his income is busted and promising to save for my college education only for me to see him but a new Rolex and shiny new wheels....and he thinks I will applaud that... |
treesun:Persons don't fix countries, people do. What besets this country is systemic, cultural, endemic. The kind of atmosphere only restructuring can fix. So it takes the people to agree to do that. All leadership can do is to 'want it'. And this is why our simple call ia to STOP electing 'establishment people' and look for reform minded people. Leaders that are anti-establishment, radical you may say. Leaders that don't seek to panel beat the way the country is run but are comitted to rebuilding Nigeria bottom up. |
Objectivist04:But sincerity and fidelity are not election criteria in these parts. We don't mind being led down the river without a paddle. |
The problem is that you never know where these things can lead. It only takes one policy, one piece of legislation and the lives of loan defaulters can be in ruins. As long as your identity is involved nothing is final. |
When you say opposition politics doesn't matter, this is another pointer that is does INDEED. We are slowly getting to the point where if you ask the hitherto pompous leaders to lie down and be your foot mat they will gladly do so. It is now up to the citizens to exploit this force flux and get these politicians to do the right thing in all aspects of good governance. We keep on saying that a working democracy needs positions of equal or near equal powers jostling for the hearts of the people and that is why conceited politicians with little to offer seek to destroy opposition politics so they can ride comfy in mediocrity. So Nigerians should cast aside their sentiments and exploit the real essence of multiparty politics by playing one party against the other. It is not about supermen or superstructures. But of super systems where the people are perpetual winners. It is not just about changing governments but threatening such so that whoever is ruling has no choice but to mind the feelings of the people he serves. |
doncartel:Mister, our democracy is not functional to the point where logic applies. In this country who decides what government spends money on....who? Ours is not a demand pull system of governance where the people decide what government uses their own money (their resources, their taxes) for, what the priorities are, how the country is to move forward step by step. For example. Where was coastal road costing trillions discussed as an infrastructure priority before, during or after elections. Locally pertaining to the FCT, where was the renovation of the ICC costing a reported 32 billion demanded as a priority of this government. We are yet to get to the point where our democracy can translate to effective governance. There is still a disconnect between the process of installing governments through elections and what these governments actually deliver by way of service. Democracy is not a fire and forget self guided missile which will hit the target of development without intervention. Democracy remains an exercise of participation, of supervision and of vigilance to obtain concrete dividends. Just like any serious enterprise. |
Brown2012:4 trillion A YEAR. Two years has passed. That is 8 trillion basically. This amount is far more than enough to either boost an economy through productive investing or bury an economy through wasteful, inflationary expenditure. Government has decided that her citizens have mismanaged 4 trillion naira every year and it is better placed to invest it. So we cross our fingers to see how far. |
Okay. 4 trillion spent on subsidies in 2022. Which means in two years you have saved 8 trillion. That is a lot of money in any currency. Are there public accounts to state where this money has gone, what infrastructure has cost 8 trillion the past two years. Roads, rail, energy, oil and gas, water, social infrastructure.... what exactly. Details, because once again 8 trillion is a lot of money if the claims are indeed real. This government should realize that the suffering the citizens are going through will invariably culture them to ask serious questions about how their resources are handled and they will increasingly seek for acccountability. |
Mr. Onanuga. Nigerians have made it clear from day 1. That they are not against reforms. What they are vehemently against is the lopsided fallout. That they have to make the sacrifices when their leaders are not. And the first slap in the face was clear if you wish to remember. We tightening our belts and you folks spending lavishly on unmecessary perks and luxuries you claim.your offices and positions required. And guess what you ignored the so called 'hate'. Furthermore in the midst of austerity you went ahead to expend scarce resources, exchanges subsidies for several garguntuan white elephant, elitist projects that have no bearing on the wellbeing of the average Nigerian despite repeated resistance by well meaning citizens. It is this sustained intransigence that has opened the door for new people, who may with any chance LISTEN to the 'haters' and at least share in the suffering of the people. The essence of democracy is the collective WILL of the people. The more leadership isolates itself the more the people look for alternatives. |
The Putin assassination machine is ramping up production of corpses. Standard FSB procedure for culling 'wild animals'. |
treesun:'.... focusing on projects critical to long term growth and job creation...' Not spending 32 billion renovating a conference centre that has no tangible economic benefit and will create fewer jobs than the fingers on my hands. I continue to say that the role of government is no more than to aggregate the resources of a country and to forge effective tools of policies and programs to further the aspirations of the people. That is all. You withdraw subsidy from the people so you can gather the funds to deploy more effectively to promote the wellbeing of the people you took it from and not to divert it feather your own nest or for your whims and caprices. You are effectively telling the people, "We have a better way of deploying your money for your greater good. We will take the subsidy funds and invest it better so you will gain a premium that will guarantee you a higher standard of living" So who ordered all these stupid, ill conceived projects they are wasting scarce resources on, the people.....? |
It is only in Nigeria, black Africa that you elect governments into power and then APPEAL to them to do their duty. Who employs people to run their businesses then begin to beg and plead and appeal to them to work and deliver results. Folks, Galatians 4:1 para says: 'As long as an heir is a child, he is no better than a slave, even though he owns everything'. Who owns the State of Kwara, who owns those communities, yet they beg for security from those they employ to govern them. In other climes the governor, mayor, county head, sheriff, senator, rep member will have lined up before the media, falling over themselves to tell the people what they are doing to address the situation and persuading them to remain calm because they fear for their jobs, appointments and political mandates. Here the people fear those they elect and tremble before those appointed by the elected and so have to beg them to do their duty. Toddler citizens. |
China has played it's hand and not in a very intelligent way. It should realise that Europe is a lot more concerned about the independence and security of Ukraine than the United States and it's pro Russia posture will only drive a wedge of trust between it and mainstream Europe. And most of all it will send a signal to the US that as a country China is a bit wary of a conflict with the States. It should have remained mute on this Eastern European conflict despite it's tacid, underground support of the Kremlin. The world is now fully bipolar, firmly split between East and West with Ukraine perhaps the new buffer, the defacto No Man's Land, chuck ablock with mines and tank traps. |
FreeStuffsNG:Remember the axis of terror includes groups that have in stock and have used various projectile munitions in the recent past including the Houthis in Yemen and they may have Intel on a potential collabo with Al-Shabab who have been giving them headache. They don't want to sit on their hands like Nigeria where Boko Haram went into joint venture with Islamic state to broaden and deepen the conflict throughout most of northern Nigeria. It is a question of preparedness which we are not good at in this country. |
pasol4real:Hia contract has elapsed and both parties could not reach an agreement to renew/extend it. He is a free agent. |
mightyhaze:Well, whenever you are ready to pay up to 30 pounds or N60,000 to watch their matches. |
Danisaint112:Were you expecting to see Maranello Ponnies or the Bulls of Bolognese.. ![]() |
By your friends..... ..... I can tell I need twenty-seven more characters to make muster. |
nightsaint:They maybe stronger but when they fail it is often spectacular and without warning just like composite aircraft parts over aluminum. And little is known of their lifespan or pressure cycles - fill/refill. |
ajailer:Armoured glass is essentially a plastic sandwich but you need to be an assassin to trust it.... |
Yeah it is good to see death anytime you step into the kitchen. Old school may prefer steel as it is unlikely to suffer catastrophic cylinder failure. Can't trust plastic. |
Of course he cannot join with the Sword of Damocles hanging over his head. Try it and before sunset the invitation to party with the EFCC arrives. |
Like I said earlier..... "...But the countries listed have much smaller economies so there must be a peculiarity in their invitation. If countries such as Kenya, South Africa or Egypt were there then I would be worried. Secondly the countries listed are in a location on the brink of the Sahelian Islamist insurgency so it may be a way the US is trying to head off the spread by investing in those countries to economically dissuade recruitment. This would have been a strategy Nigeria could adopt in it's own internal problems but we don't seem to have the political will, institutional structures and moral upstanding to deliver soft power to defeat the insurgency...." So in a nutshell I don't think there is a call for Nigeria here. |

Nukilia:Let me try to explain. Most Caribbean territories are under the umbrella of the US. The United States is a close ally of Taiwan. Taiwan has been kept in the diplomatic cold by a vast number of countries worldwide because of the influence of China that seea that nation as a renegade orovice and wants to annex it. So Taiwan seeks to exploit any scenario where there is a gravitation towards it or it's friends hence the diplomatic trumpeting. Nigeria on the other hand has to be wary as China out dear friend will not be happy about this and will surely kick in one way other other. Expect our ambassador in China to be quietly summoned to explain certain thngs. PS. Despite the fact that most Central American countries are not affluent and some wretchedly poor what you notice is the absence of China or Chinese influences on their nations unlike in Africa and South America. Reason, the US. Which doesn't appreciate China messing around in it's backyard. And this has been so since the 60's Kennedy missile crises. |
The matter should be escalated in the civil space and in the corridors of the law and if resisted taken out of their jurisdiction completely. Those who are in charge of maintaining law and order should be circumspect, read the drift of this country properly and do only the right thing at this time. A change of government at the next polls is no longer a remote possibility and they too can be held to account. |
