educatedfool:EVERYTING in this world is based on speculation. The woman who takes her ten thousand to the market to buy stuff to fry akara this morning is liquidating in anticipation of increasing it's worth by mid morning. Well it's a cold rainy day, with few folks on the streets. That speculation may hit weather related turbulence and that worth falls short by the end of the day. It is not about her but factors BEYOND HER CONTROL Elon is as rich as the world prescribes him to be this Friday morning at 8.32 am. That is not misleading. That is a reality that affects everything and everyone on earth. |
Useless, senseless war. Russia will capture but it will bleed in those territories it holds. Ukraine is being fast tracked into the EU and is bound to join NATO shortly after. So what is this all about. A useless war just like that being fought in the Persian Gulf. |
Bluntemperor:But what is so upsetting about that wish...or that prayer. I mean, an administration cannot be doing so well that I will not want my life run that way. Leaders are meant to be inspiratory and what they do should echo in history, templates for future aspirations, to be studied in schools, their famous quotes remaining valid and effectual for all eternity, be they religious leaders, political leaders or even leaders of households.....of families. A few quotes of my father has stuck with me till now because he inspired me in many ways. So I don't understand where the 'hate' you say comes from. 'Vote wisely', you guys are enraged. 'Make your vote count', and supporters tear their hair out....and on and on....I just don't understand... |
They will tell you that rail accidents happen all.over the world so we should accept them and die humbly. That our complaints will not stop them from winning elections. |
Well, I don't know what to say....what angers people more, bandits flaunting blood money or politicians flaunting taxpayers sweat. I might even suggest that there is a little hint of envy playing out here. Both you guys are in stiff competition to see who enrages the citizen the more. But I will be accused of cynicism, won't I? |
Protest is the oil that lubricates every functional democracy everywhere it works to develop nations that adopt it. And if we claim we practice democracy in this country we are either partakers or observers. To stand against is is to destroy democracy. If you suppress it history will be your teacher. It is not the first protest in the 5th Republic and it will not be the last. This government and this President have a storied history of hitting the streets. So let them be. |
Starboytwo:Hahahaha....the Negro in all his unbridled glory..... ![]() |
mrmayormedia:He is absolutely correct. It is like doing fractions, the denominator must be common. The projections of the rate at which this government is borrowing is projected to be devastating to the fiscal stability of this country. Mark you it is self immolation due to highly bloated budgets aimed at giving out all manner of contracts to satisfy family, friends and whoever seeks to associate with the heist. |
Kukutente23:Another thing I did not see. I think Pharaoh just doesn't want to let the slaves go. Now he is saying go but hang around the corner where I can see you in case I change my mind. The State police should be as independent as the Nigerian police is from the colonial British police. If not interference will be a recurring nightmare and nothing will work properly. And when it stumbles the naysayers will be all out saying , 'we told.you so...' The Federal police will frustrate the living daylights out of folks they will call subservient. They should take a page out of the US policing system. It is about the best practice globally. |
nairalanda1:Mr. Tinubu said he has given states more resources than ever in the history of the country. What else should they be doing with the at the expense of their own security excess. Are the funds for flyovers or for building shoddy, ramshackle airports. Heck, some states are even establishing airlines, sponsoring pilgrimages and mass weddings to the tune of billions. You can afford all that but cannot afford to guard your boundaries and protect your peoples. What a joke. |
Truths9ja:Just a bit worried by the same issues plaguing the Federal Police. Namely who appoints who. How will a state governor 'appoint' the Commissioner and then the Commissioner rejects a so called illegal order. We have to get round this issue as a nation. We are a democracy. We have left colonial rule. Executive power should be reformed as well. It is the snake that eats the eggs of institution building. Please can they find a way round Governors solely appointing Commissioners of Police until State Houses of Assembly are truly independent. |
Leepeak:Oga, it is about humanity which is levels beyond your crass politicking. Let him govern well and be winning to his hearts content since that is all you folks know. The country is being run aground and that is all that you can think about. Failed citizens everywhere you look. You will have thought they learnt anything from the storied 2014 insecurity. No, they were busy playing stupid politics then and are still playing stupid politics now. |
Sirchiboy:Nice. My second home. Must be as hot as hell by now. Bet you're grilling hot dogs off your bonnet. |
The other day I was reading somewhere that the security swrvic said they knew where the school kids and their att ndants were but could not free then for fear of collateral damage, fine. But that fear evaporated when the relations of the 'big man' were rescued within a few days with no collateral damage while the offspring of the peons remain in captivity as chess pawns of negotiations. |
helinues:Okay, so the freedom of kidnapped victims is now politics abi, no longer governance failures. You said it yourself. Everything to you guys is politics. Even issues of humanity is not your business. It is just to win elections. |
Lifeless101:Let people express their frustrations please. Outcomes or effect are of secondary importance. The criminals are reacting to the country's woes in a different way. By turning against society in a violent, negative way. Let people of peace cry out through protests than keep quiet and turn to violence and criminality. |
dgr8truth:You are absolutely free to suggest a better 'solution'. |
First Bank is notorious for that. Had to end my relationship with them about a decade ago because of precisely this problem and erroneously it took place in Port Harcourt. Made a 6 figure purchase and they refused to credit the account of the vendor despite numerous attempts to either complete the transaction or reverse it. I took the loss and walked away from the bank. |
Just like the funny policy of government demolishing properties of suspected criminals. |
The car world is basically split in two between functionality and form. All the way back since the 70's the debate in the US has always been around what is a 'show car' and what is called 'an everyday' car. That debate still holds today and manufacturers know their market and build products to suit them. Toyota is the classic 'everyday' car. Reliable, no frills, engine and drive train that has barely changed in 50 years. It is the classic 'weekday car. The Mercedes on the other hand is the quintessential 'weekend' car in the Nigerian context. For the big occasions. So, I wil suggest you have the two if you can. The Toyota in the forecourt and the Merc in the garage. |
Told you guys. You folks deserve everything you get. Keep on paying taxes to thieves. Now where is that Mr. 'Revenue is not enough'....aka 'Our budget is smaller than Stamford Bridge'... aka 'we are not paying enough...' Come and explain what is happening here. Give any Nigerian government the entire gold reserve warehoused in Fort Knox, nothing meaningful will be achieved. Only restructuring can save this country. The citizens who cannot join the gravy train are planning to troop into the bush to lay siege. Failed nation. |
seborrhic:It is the address to them that matter. Most folks who will buy it will not reside there permanently. They probably have such properties in Abuja, Miami, London, the UAE and other such places. The bulk will be taken up by corporations for guest housing. |
I hope they are built well and with sound environmental knowledge. Nigerians lately are unproven at the highest end of real estate where supervision by government is lax at a fee. You know fire and rescue services to tall buildings is a generation away. |
This is the time for the soldiers to come all out for this terrorists.
I see. So they were all in before. Who goes to war to forgive his enemy. |
That is why they MUST win the upcoming elections or simply start booking whole cell blocks. It is that simple. |
Absolutely. And the north particularly should wise up to this ideal. Open borders may have helped demographically but with rain comes the mud of insecurity to which they are grossly unprepared. When we see other countries take it seriously we used to think of ourselves as victims, but the new world reality has shown us that even a 1976 smoky Volkswagen Beetle will be stolen if left unlocked. Nigeria may be in an economic mess but have no doubt that flies love mess, not butterflies, disease carrying house flies if you know what I mean. |
LordLicifer:Yes, it is called redevelopment. You can breakdown something constructed even yesterday to make way for a better plan that in this case will greatly benefit the airport. I remember the famous Jeremiah Useni quip about the need for the movement of the Federal Capital to Abuja, saying that you spend an hour in the air from Abuja only to spend two in Lagos traffic. This is one infrastructure upgrade that is meaningful and desirable. |
unitysheart:There will be a spur to the airport from the closest line and from there it is point to point for any commuter going to any part of the state served with a line. Most will have to change lines to far flung locations. |
Great development. Anything to free commuters from the crazy taxi unions. I know they won't like this. However the trains have to be well secured or they will become easy targets for crime knowing that folks who air travel locally or across borders are probably heavy on valuables and light on awareness. |
Even the bandits are against reconciliation....but the hapless, helpless citizens insist on suicide. Cowardly nation. |
This was the exact reason why I said this morning that citizens have to raise their awareness levels and get busy in knowing the people that reside amongst them, coupled with an advocacy for police within their localities. It is entirely possible that the kidnappers are not the owners of the property. They may be squatters, relations, tenants, acquaintances of whatever kind. People have had their properties used for things they are totally unaware off, drugs, fraud and other such offences that under the law today will lead to mandatory forfeiture (demolition included). Let us band together and stop crime right there at the roots. It is not profiling or xenophobia. If it doesn't look right, poke your nose into it. Your wariness may just as well save an innocent soul. |
PigTormentor:For now. If this one goes through you will soon hear the familiar line, 'Expand the tax net...' and then it will be a case of the trees voting for the axe because it has a wooden handle. Just wait. Is it not about money. Is it ever enough. |
