Mathewrichard99:You don't. But just like your new employee you monitor, guide, direct and appraise. You give tasks and expect reports, simple. That is how you control government. You start by electing a person you control, that respects you not the other way round. That is why 27 years of godfathers, autocrats and political demigods has not developed this country. As long as a leader is not accountable to the people he rules without their input. |
Mathewrichard99:DP. |
That's good. Publish the prospectuses and let's see. Will always consider making a quick buck off folks who refuse to work their democracy to improve their fortunes. |
Leaders that cannot impact positively on their people. Leaders that cannot meet a situation and leave it better. They should all hide their faces in shame. It is always a better yesterday in this part of the world and and I am glad even those who will be referenced tomorrow as having performed woefully are preparing to receive their future report cards. Same will will be said of your government ma'am....same. You met it, handed the bill over to the people and left them in penury. |
The more the merrier. Nigeria belongs to all. If you can make it back, there is unfinished business in the National Confab. The program that made me label you the best democratically elected President so far and I remain resolute about that if the process can be seen to it's conclusion and this country is restructured. |
MartinCorridon:But apart from items that are really tropical Africa, others can be substituted to a certain degree if you are good with your hands. Won't come out exactly the same but there you go. Have a relation who managed to smuggle some okra seeds many years ago and has been running a sustainable garden ever since. |
osuofia2:But you have been told it is NOT medicinal. |
In that case a lemon is just the bitter cousin of an orange. So why will I touch it since I don't like bitter things. |
Magnetic010:This is no security. The only guarantee you have is to direct your government aright because it affects everything at anytime. You may wait and wait, observe and calculate, but whenever you decide to marry and have children, or even if you decide to remain alone till old age, a bad government can arise and still ruin you at anytime they are elected. Even if your doctors have given you months to a few years to live, your social security, your healthcare, the value of your pension can all be taken away if you cannot as a society fight to keep your future. Folks who thought they were made just a few years ago are languishing. Folks who took early retirement a decade ago wished they never had. Just one bad government. Just one bad government. |
A time will come when we will graduate from all this and governments will be rated by a higher metric, standard international metrics for democracies. |
C'mon, why do you think it is called a chameleon...what sort of talk is this... ![]() |
MartinCorridon:That is the price you pay for being an expat. You think foreigners here don't jump through hoops finding their local delicacies at reasonable rates. |
Dalohad:Exactly. We get what we want at the end of the day. People should realise the power they command through their mandate to moderate the course of their lives. Even if you support a government you can still control it when you constantly put them on notice rather the constant acquiescence which will only encourage misgovernance. |
LordIsaac:You are the contender and you either vote for what you like or vote against it. The Nigerian citizen still owns this country the last time I checked and if he can summon the courage and remove the inhibitions he can make government do what he wants. Taxation in other climes make or break governments. And Nigeria should not be an exception. I noticed a difference in another state, Abuja. Successive governments have tried to impose parking but citizen advocacy has continued to resist it through the courts. |
In jeopardy for all the wrong reasons that true democracy disregards. If it is a proper contest of ideas and capacity it is welcome because they can only make themselves better. Contests only make the strong even stronger. But we all know that true democracy doesn't really exist in Nigeria, feudalism does and with all the sentimental baggage it carries it is understandable that no one wins. It is MAD (mutually assured destructive) event. |
What is wrong in appointing the best power utilities management expat off international scouting and appointing him Minister and then making your political protege the Minister of State to protect your sentiment. We have a long standing problem here that to me requires a radical change in the way we are going about it. We need fresh ideas and standard global practices. I don't think all these people can cut it, honestly. When the UK had serious financial problems (some say they still do) then HEX Osborne head hunted for the very best and Mark Carney a Canadian was brought in. The work he did between 2012 and 2020 literally saved the U K from the worst of the pandemic and ensured they came out in better shape than most G7 nations There are things a stranger will tell you that your relations will not. There is a reason why medical professionals are excised from treating close relations. Dispassion. We need it to solve some of the intransigent, pressing issues of our time, security, economy, etc. |
LabStores:There is nothing. It is just about wise, strategic investing. If there is anything mysterious it is the phantom that the country should have all it's power eggs in one basket called natural/petroleum gas and the vain hope that it can piped throughout Nigeria successful and efficiently to power the tens if not hundreds of power stations that need to be built when gasoline has not flowed in our pipeline network for thirty odd years. Most countries have a strategic power mix to meet varying conditions and situations, no less power security and in this regime of free market if we have all our power feedstock priced at international oil and gas rates, one lunatic is the west or east can start a war and ruin us economically. |
Better go and call the promoters of the new superhighways to sort that out. They are effective at getting the attention of government. |
I can see a few responses and a bit of misunderstanding. It is not about the man, the father, it is about the child as part concientization so that she is knowledgeable enough of her nature within the social fabric of a home and beyond as early and as quickly as possible. Because once she is out of eyesight and earshot she needs to know where the boundaries are. There are a lot of children grown to adults today, both male and female that were abused as children without them even knowing. The child is quick to forget if such abuses are subtle and it may be going on without even the parents being aware, and right there in their homes by people you will least expect. There will be brothers or sisters of the father, uncles, aunt's, then there will be teachers in school, janitors, assistants, helpers of all kinds, fellow pupils. Things and situations beyond your control. So your way out is to create knowledge and resilience to the subject matter. And that training starts with you the father. In the world we live in today, whatever you assume is certainly a loophole and absolutely will be exploited. |
It is actually not very nice. It should be the exception not the norm and should be completely stopped as early as possible. The earlier your female child is made conscious of her body and the differences between her and the other gender the better. |
At long last. And if done very well you will see that electricity will be the cheapest in that region attracting industries and businesses. It is much cheaper than this gas thing we are putting all our eggs in. Go to China and other countries that are going green and decommissioning their old coal plants and get one on the cheap. Get to top mining engineering companies to dig out your feedstock and situated the plants close by, within a conveyor belt distance and you are in business. You will.see how other sleepy states with coal deposits mainly in the middle-belt will follow suit. Imagine a state like Kogi that has large coal deposits waiting for gas supply from the Delta, just ridiculous. Meanwhile the Chinese manufacturers in that state are burning the coal to make cheap ceramics. That is why we also advocate for foreign participation in government. Make a Chinese man your Minister of Trade and Industry and he will tell the truth and lead aright without sentiment. |
Eriokanmi:He disliked the organisation but was a friend of the founder. Remember that Trump was once Democrat leaning, the showbiz aspect of his life. |
seanery:They were friends. |
Wickedtruths:That is your business, your default. Ethnicity is your comfort zone. Everyone critical of your preferences must be from a particular geographical zone of the country. Ask yourself again. Are these things worth a destroyed economy. In his manifesto in 2023/23 where did he mention these 'projects' as worthy of sinking the economy into. The areas of critical importance to the economy, cost of power, cost of energy, the things he promised and even dared Nigerians to hold him to account over, the things that are fuelling high inflation and ruining livelihoods and enterprises, he has not touched, it is a new highway he thinks that is critical to the economy....what rubbish. We all know it is a contractor led initiative and he has to settle old scores, old alliances and repay old debts so let them just have their way in silence and stop provoking the people with dramatics because the average Nigerian is uninterested. |
That is all they have to show for a destroyed economy. As if people have not been traversing the two locations for generations before. |
Ah, ah, what's going on. At least allow us sit down first and pour ourselves a cup of hot cocoa..... ![]() |
LordBiden:North west and south west. You will soon discover that even Shettima of the APC will be railroaded come 2031 in favour of someone from either Kano, Kaduna or Katsina. |
Angelfrost:My only reservations about Atiku in politics is corruption and the crass monetisation of the electoral process. Filter that out and I really do not see the problem with his unending appetite for power. Perhaps because I am not a fan of this so called rotational Presidency between north and south which essentially means south west and north west. There has not been a successful Presidency outside these two regions in this 5th Republic. Are we to assume that those contesting outside these two regions are just extras in the democratic movie ![]() |
GanagiBitrus:Whoever defends better will go through, period. This is knockout cup football. The formula is constant....unchanging. |
Thewrath:Is there any serious reason for that. Why must one person bow down to another. This is not a monarchy. It is a democracy and ome solid hallmark is liberty. Freedom to choose and be chosen. Nigeria should display as many wares as possible so that Nigerians HAVE OPTIONS. And can do the democratic business of horse trading. If you go do a market search for a new pho e and all the shops sold Samsung or Apple, the market is not going to be very successful. Let them all contest, debate, grapple for the ticket do that we can know them better and uncover what is in their heads for this country and the people. |
Waste not, want not. No matter how much is served, just do not return it to the kitchen. |
96ACE:Kai, this is shameful. Just imagine how the elderly are dehumanized just because of crass politicking. 250 years after the whites have given up slavery, the Negro is still not ready to be free. You will think that wisdom comes with age and at a certain point the scales over the eyes will fall free. |
