JaceBlaze:Ouch, that is below the belt. |
That is the only time you see 'confrontation' instead of 'cooperation'....when it comes to things to share, what benefits they themselves, the ones that feel cheated out fight back But when it concerns the citizens, it is 'follow the leader'. No objection, no debate, no argument, the country can burn for all they care. 100 percent 'the ayes have it'. Useless institution, failed public servants therein, selfish, greedy, insatiable lots. |
I totally agree. I don't know which tardy government gave permission for private estate development on the Jabi (after ShopRite) side of the lake. It should not be. That place, the entire foreshore right from the old water works, under the Yaradua causeway bridge and across to the River Nile end where baby Moses was hidden... , should strictly be reserved for tourism, hospitality, recreation and leisure, not allocated to real estate or other self serving ventures.Apart from the Aso lake there is no other large body of water in the municipality for recreation and with the loss of one green area after the other particularly under this administration, the city is at risk of becoming a sterile concrete desert. The church should be given somewhere else. And I hope the new proposals meet with best practices and standards befitting of a Federal capital. PS: And I hope the plans includes keeping the water clean and free of garbage, pests and weeds. |
Kobicove:Because he was protecting himself from the wrong thing. If he was fighting for control over the security apparatus in his state, if he was fighting tooth and nail to have state and local government police instituted. If he was fighting for the rights of his people to bear arms and for the kind of 'stand your ground' laws in the United States AND.... And his life was threatened by the underground, black government and it's shadowy operatives that decide the structure of this country and control the way insecurity is used in changing the demographics of it, then the people particularly of the Plateau will understand the need for his personal protection and even form a human shield round about him and guard his habitation day and night, but.... BUT this is a man who remains mute in the face of calls for state police, timid even when civil society groups goad him to take action and completely at sea on what to do internally with the resources at his disposal. Cannot convene a summit amongst the frontline middle belt states that are being ethnically and religiously cleansed, all..... ALL to sound and look politically correct, to kiss ass and get paid to be compliant. He is a poor quality leader and the people of the Plateau should eject him out of office like a spent cartridge out of the breech of a herdsman's rifle. |
Chiboycruise:It is not easy buying players of equal capabilities. Agents are on alert these days for clubs that just want backup and will not agree to a trade unless signed agreements and guarantees of playing time are made. We are in an era of statistics and auto valuation. A player on the bench sees his valuation steady fall and with valuation comes the ability to negotiate for higher wages or maintain certain wages when the time is due to extensions not to talk of bonuses and other perks that invariably extend to the agents themselves. ysjaa I am sure Christian Nordgaard is wondering why he came to Arsenal in the first place when he has to compete with a far superior player in Zubimendi and will be absolutely petrified at the sudden rediscovery of Skelly. |

ubimagos:Did the people tell him they want his money. Why do we belittle ourselves this much as citizens and still expect these people in office to respect us. Political office is not the venue of a bazaar or food bank. He should keep his money and do the work he was elected to do. To represent his people in all matters if life and decent living. Many more things than can be bought with money. He should do his job or leave and let others try. Political office is not a charity organisation. It is where social malaise is repaired, where things that have gone wrong in/with society are made right so that the man citizen is able to aspire, prosper and be made secure. In the actual sense of it, the nuance of sound leadership is that you don't know it exists. If your engine is running smooth you don't hear or feel it. If your heart is working well you don't know it is there. When a politician makes a lot of noise and is desperate to be noticed know that he is compromising seriously and you have to take notice. Thus if he has to gather you round a table to demand to fill your begging bowls know that he is mismanaging your economy and his tokenism is merely a Pontius Pilate. Let us build ourselves up in the knowledge of what is rightfully ours, what is expected of those we entrust with authority and how to make this democracy work for our good. By closing our eyes to sentiment and the kind of drama these people display to hoodwink us |
No he won't go anywhere. He is a Negro. Selfish, self centered and feudal in nature. He will trade anything, compromise anything, go to any lengths to ensure he remains to lord over and exploit his people. His mindset is on 'what to eat'. Not on what he is prepared to forgo so he serve. Sacrifice is far from his philosophy. It's all about the money. And he can't have enough. |
Oga, it is Nigerians that lose whatever cards the politicians play. What is Peter Obi losing even if he never becomes President. You don't seem to understand that when the sunsets it will be a question of the best President that never was but for those what have won and ruled they end their days writing books to explain away their infamy and call endless press conferences to whitewash the sepulchres of their misdeeds. I guarantee you this. Peter Obi has more to lose becoming President because he will struggle and fail to change the course of this country. Because what he and many think is the problem of Nigeria isn't and he will not be able to restructure this country to solve it. THEY, THEY, THEY will not allow him to. |
BarrElChapo:IGP Disu is standing on an ultra long cantilever. He himself knows the results of the audit will be watery at best. The Police Service as it is constituted is far too large for the organisational peculiarities and competencies of a typical third world country such as ours. They will send him all sorts of false reports and there will be absolutely no way of verifying anything. A system in which accountability is not domiciled at the point of incidences is just useless. If the visuals didn't go viral nothing will have happened. If the IG decided to be uninterested, nothing will have happened. Now sit back and imagine the quantum of incidences that have neither both in far flung places round about this country of police extortion, brutality and quite frankly criminality. The only way to have a police that respects the citizen, respects the law and respects the very institution it serves is to have accountability at the point of service. We need state and local government policing like yesterday. |
Nnahokwudiri:This is not sustainable. Like I said except if your life revolves around making quick money and living on the edge. Other folks think far and want peace and stability. |
With the current rate of inflation this is a no brainier. I cannot see my assets lose 15, 20 percent every year and not want to place it where it loses 3,4,5 percent except I intend to invest in either an illegitimate business or an exploitative one (which is not sustainable either). |
nosiebaba:When I talk about the nature of the Negro, folks get angry. The default setting is always to pander to sentiment when seeking to abscond from responsibility. Like.in this country the day we can overcome this mentality and get the right people into authority, get law and order working, empower the lowest class in society to stand up for himself and his community and not bow to feudal overlords then this country can start to move forward. Every thing besetting this country try is rooted in the mentality displayed by the Senegalese. For goodness sake even if it your right, or you are right, prove it by obeying the law and suffering th consequences. That is the invoice of liberty. That is the sacrifice of freedom. Then the world will see you as the true victims not troublemakers seeking to copout. |
They should serve their time and go home. Pardon them and no lessons will be learnt, it will happen again. |
Angelfrost:That is the nature of knock out football. Anything can happen. What Arsenal has going for it is a squad void of drama kings. All season the team has been disciplined as a collective. Arteta has managed to keep the card count low such that injuries have been the only limitations. This has helped to maximize the squad and the results are telling. The core of the team has remained intact and played together for very long periods. |
Dour but they at least made the finals against all expectations of an end season capitulation. Congrats to the Gunners. |
Go big.....or go home. Whoever defends better will advance, period |
Whatever has decided that the Nigerian cannot be free to live his life in the hope of peace and prosperity remains in a dominant position. We are held captive for all intents and purposes. What is it about us that simply cannot find the centre ground between the rock of feudal rule, dictatorships and autocracy and the hard place of solidarity for the purpose of living the 'Nigerian Dream'. What makes the system of life we practice so beloved yet has not been able to secure and prosper the nation decades after we thought we were free from the swagger stick, khaki pants and jackboots. If what we are doing is so right, so progressive and so desirable, why hasn't it made the life of the average Nigerian any better in the snapshot of any time capsule. |
Farming for what.... ![]() Don't tell me they are raised for food...those cute and cuddly things....c'mon. It takes a certain level of depravity to look a rabbit in the eye, kill and eat it. |
HacheNoire:Crime festers when institutions are weak(ened). You cannot have your principal financial crime watchdog a political poodle and expect results. It is incumbent on leadership to think Nigeria and strengthen institutions. Grant autonomy and liberty to law enforcement and the Judiciary and they will work apolitically and with absolute fidelity for the good of the country. Remove your hands from the Legislature and they will be free to craft laws that protect every citizen, foreigners, enterprises and businesses. The role of citizenship after choosing the right leadership for the right reasons is advocacy to hold them in the straight and narrow. If they are too big to be held to account and bolt free from their reins to run wild in society it is incumbent on those who brought them together to run the chariots of state to go after them. It will be recalled that under the watch of this government this and that happened. That, you cannot cover up. |
Kobicove:Yes they are. |
Watianoengineer:What is fiki-fiki please.... |
lionshare:There are schools of thought that will make a right thinking and right standing person seek to avoid party primaries. One is that that is the crucible of institutional corruption, the birth of the nature of rent seeking caused by the horse trading required to emerge. And anyone that wants to be free to lead without encumbrances will avoid being ensnared right from the start. HOWEVER, leadership qualities are also about confronting and overcoming situations, changing the narrative and charting a new course for institutions and making the people believe in a better way. This is where Mr. Obi in my opinion falls flat. This idea of 'walking away' from conflicting is inexcusable and I cannot see how a potential leader can navigate challenges to change a nation and revive a country without confronting ALL and EVERY one of them because these challenges are all interlinked to bring us to where we are today. |
Yeah. If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck, like they say.... Does this man Peter Obi realise this is a democracy and one essential nuance is COMPETITION. In a nutshell we should be wary and seriously vigilant of a person who died not want DEBATE and a scrutiny/cross pollination of ideas (he passes this with flying colours) or a CONTEST, which is the defence of those ideas in a public arena. Such leanings in my opinion are essentially feudal in nature and will germinate in due time to dictatorial tendencies if planted in the rich soul of democracy. Why are our leaders so resistant and undesirous of solidarity. |
Just as I was telling someone yesterday. When contracts fail and roads and bridges are abandoned or don shoddily the Federal Ministry of Works for instance just moves on. It terminates and re-awards (just imagine, even my spell check keeps on changing it to "rewards". Indeed in Nigeria it is a reward) same to another contractor. No one hears about the old 'contract' or the sums expended ever again. It is a game of musical chairs. A supposed loss to the country, to the taxpayer and a gain to the contractor. The sure reward is that the contractor ends up being given something else to do by the same Ministry or by another Ministry of the same government and the cases are many amongst our favourites out there. It appears th disease is also alive and rampaging through the NNPC. The question is: What happens to the billions, if not trillions expended so far by government to rehabilitate the refineries. Will anything be recovered. What happens to the individuals and corporations engaged in this futile attempt, in this grand waste of time and treasure, in this college of lies and deceit to the public, will they be held to account, be they in the private and/or public sectors. Or as usual do we just let the music continue and dance to the game of musical chairs to entertain the citizenry. Afterall it is all a party, isn't it. If we had a functional control tower of a government in the form of a Legislature that is supposed to superintend over Executive action, is this not a time for them to step up and call the government to account and mete our severe sanctions on those found wanting and culpable. But no, the tower is unmanned, no direction, no responsibility and as far as I am concerned the Legislature may as well not exist. |
Why I also think it is not a good idea to buy used communication devices is that they can be preloaded with undetectable malware that can virtually ruin your life. |
We have no regards for rail transport in this country. It is a neglected economic force multiplier. The only thing that can save us from the removal of fuel subsidies wether cross country, intercity or intracity transport. If the Federal Government spent a fraction of the amount it is proposing for these new so called super highways and administrators like Wike in Abuja could prioritize rail links between the satellite towns and the city centre there will be a lot more economic impact. This is highly regrettable. |
streetshuttle:Should not be a state thing. Should not be a government centred thing or it will not work long term. It has to be an enterprise, a profit centred venture. Government can invest, can seed, can setup but if it is a social service abuse is just next door. |
This is what we want to see as investment. These are the things that will impact the economy not all these useless white elephant contracts shared all over Abuja for which our debts keep on soaring. Invest in the tools of production and guarantee a return with which to play around. Invest in tools first. |
piagetskinner:Then chase after the facts rather than glue your eyes to the politicians. Nigerians should realise how democracy works. The worth of a politician is limited to the clout he is able to bring to issues an ordinary cirizen cannot. He helps to shape policy and drive direction because he is listened to by a large number of people. Jonathan could not remove subsidy in 2012 ONLY because of opposition political pressure. The direction the nation took under Buhari was set in stone because there was scant political opposition. There is no other instrument the people of a country can use to change the course of a government post elections other than political opposition. So we either use the message or disregard it. Nigerians used the message in 2012. No one said this and that about Tinubu. Nigerians focused on the MESSAGE passed. So we can decide if the person is the subject matter today and ignore the message. It is up to us. But if we do we will just continue in whatever trajectory we are going and just like the Buhari era, end up where we will be. But if I am to take a straw poll of all the responses previously on this thread it is evident that the overwhelming majority of Nigerians are focused on the messenger and very, very few on the message. Safe to say Nigerians are incapable of affecting their leadership with the tools of democracy they have. Once we have voted we are done for the next four and almost certainly eight years. That is why citizens are dying like flies without sympathy and suffering like slaves without remedy. They simply do not know how to affect government. |
fineboynl:Incite them or awaken them. At the end of the day no politician will live your life. It is what you fight for that happens. So you can as well fight for them to continue the mismanagement. It will continue. We thought that the previous 8 wasted years will have brought Nigerians around to the knowledge of how to profit from this democracy. But alas the African cannot. The Negro will not let go of his chains. |
Ah, ah warrisdis. I nip out for a sec and United cannot hold their liquor. |
