akeensbussy:If your building is 80% finished and it already costs you 17million, you will need to tell us what the 80% finished means. Is it already roofed, plastered etc. @Akeens, please do not underestimate what the "20%" finish will cost you. |
eghosajohnny:The questions I will ask are as below. 1. What is the sqM of the duplex? A bigger duplex will definitely cost more than a smaller duplex. 2. What is the soil condition? Even in Abeokuta, soil condition will vary from neighborhood to neighborhood. 3. What sort of foundation will @Eghosa build with 1.8m? You need a pad foundation for a duplex. That means cement, granite/gravel, good quality sound and most of all steel rods. Strip foundations are only suitable for bungalows. 4. You need to ensure you build in compliance to the structural design. Otherwise you will build a decking of less than 150mm and poor quality beams. Thin decking means at the very least, you will be feeling some serious vibration when people a walking upstairs. At the very most, your building may collapse after some years. 5. I did not see anything on plumbing, electrical, landscaping, fencing, gate, gate house, kitchen, bathrooms, tilling etc in the above quotation. Im not sure the OP, being someone who lives abroad is looking for a house with concrete floors and pit latrines. Overall, I thing the 14.5 million quote will be grossly inadequate for an average size duplex with average quality of conveniences even in Abeokuta. |
slim75d:Obio Akpor is definitely one of the richest local government in Nigeria in terms of revenue. But it is definitely NOT one of the most prosperous in terms of development and infrastructure. In fact it puzzles me why the residents dont ask more of the local government chairmen and the politicians to provide meaningful development with the vast resources at their disposal. This LG has the potential to be one of the most prosperous like Eti-Osa in Lagos. |
The reason why we are backward in Africa is pretty clear. We are intellectually lazy. OP simply needs to tell us his height in feet or meters. Then we will be able to judge. All these pictures are of little use in comparing him to others |

Great, let them wear their church robe to class and let muslim girls wear their hijab. That will be good for decency. |
bejick:So let GEJ go and stay in Port Harcourt or Yenagoa and let's see what will happen to him there. |
Wife turning up nose while Bruce kissing. Common sense mouth odour? |
The truth is that GEJ cannot stay in Otuoke because of security situations in that region. Unfortunately the man had 6 years to make a difference in the Niger Delta but he chose to embezzle our money. Look at it, all former heads of states return to their home base. Babangida and Abdulsalami to Minna, OBJ to Otta, General Buhari to Daura etc. GEJ has to be floating around like a butterfly, Ivory Coast today, London tommorow, Otuoke and Port Harcourt for 2 days each etc. The evil he did to this country will continue to follow him around. |
(CNN)The word "Africa" often evokes romantic images of elephants crossing the Kalahari, thundering water at Victoria Falls, or panoramic views from Table Mountain. But an increasingly common sight for Africans -- especially those in Nigeria -- is that of smog, rubbish and polluted water, according to a new report. Four of the worst cities in the world for air pollution are in Nigeria, according to data released by the World Health Organization (WHO). Onitsha -- a city few outside Nigeria will have heard of -- has the undignified honor of being labeled the world's most polluted city for air quality, when measuring small particulate matter concentration (PM10). A booming port city in southern Nigeria, Onitsha recorded 30 times more than the WHO's recommended levels of PM10. Named and shamed The other three cities named and shamed in the WHO report for high PM10 levels are the transport hub of Kaduna, in the north, which came fifth, followed by the cities of Aba -- in sixth place -- and Umuahia, in 16th position, which are both trade centers in southern Nigeria. Last year, the World Bank reported that 94% of the population in Nigeria is exposed to air pollution levels that exceed WHO guidelines (compared to 72% on average in Sub-Saharan Africa in general) and air pollution damage costs about 1% post of Gross National Income. The WHO study tracked the growth in the two different sizes of particulate matter, PM10 and PM2.5, per cubic meter of air. PM2.5 particles are fine, with a diameter of 2.5 micrometers (µm) to more than 40 micrometers, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. PM10 particles are less than or equal to 10 micrometers in diameter. Nigeria did not feature in the top 10 for PM2.5 levels. http://edition.cnn.com/2016/05/31/africa/nigeria-cities-pollution/index.html

I really don't understand what the outcry is all about. Do you expect Ajimobi to lay out the red carpet for who employee who collects two or more salaries, Ghost workers, Service Age outdated? I guess you recommend that the state governor gives them merit award? For the people with BVN problem, all they need to do is get a BVN number or correct any irregularities with their BVN and they will be reabsorbed. A similar exercise was done about 5 years ago. People who were able to prove their case were reabsorbed. |
Boss13:It doesn't make any difference whether you believe it or not. The galant soldiers have decisively dealt with some rogues. That's what matters. |
Great initiative. MTN leading, others following. |
Take another JAMB for pharmacy, the course you love. I did the same thing many years ago. I don't regret it. |
I love my MTN plan. |
cassidy1996: It's better you catch them young before they become governor/senator/president. Remember some governors serving jail time in far away land! |
babdap:Most of the other banks are better run than First Bank. You need to look at the financials to confirm my statement. |
Great! Then I expect many SEasterners to go home and contribute to the development of their region. |
MrAboki:Thank God you are not the owner of Nairaland!!! |
He sure looks 18 to me!!! |
This is a good development. In more advanced world, the curriculum religious education in primary and secondary school includes Christian, Islam, Buddism, Hindu, etc. |
asumo12:You obviously dont understand yoruba language. |
