Empiree: You have agreed they can buy land in the SW/SE. Anything else you said is irrelevant, excuse me. But I repeat that I don't support them buying the land for agriculture or ranches. Your approach will eventually lead to what you are trying to avoid (ruling over you).
But rather the govt should buy those lands from the people, and farmers and herdsmen should lease from govt. This is so easy. That way you don't have to worry about them taking over you because they do not own the land. But you are saying they should buy the lands. You just contradicted yourself and your proposition is recipe for disaster. I only choose to reply to your statements in bold. I am telling you the concern of people whose land the government is planning to acquire for the purpose of ranching and you are saying what I say is "irrelevant". Don't you think that is sheer arrogance on your part? You said govt should buy land and "lease" it to the farmers and herdsmen. That sort of statement can only come from someone who thinks what others are saying on sensitive issues is "irrelevant". That is the real recipe for disaster. |

Empiree: would you support herdsmen buying their own ranches in the SW/SE if they are so willing, and since they have been grazing there for decades?. Why i asked is bcus the local buy these cows from them which means it is a business.
I am not talking about forcefully taking the land but buying for themselves (for ranching) from their own capital?. Of course the law of the land does not prohibit anyone buying land at any part of the country for agric purpose. However, locals need to beware of people from the other part of the country strategically buying large expanse of land in another region with the future aim of establishing villages and towns ruled by the "foreigners". To be clear, Yoruba people will welcome other tribes to buy land, but they will not want a town or village ruled by an Ezeh or an Emir within their domain. Likewise the Igbos or Housa/Fulani people will not want a Yoruba kingdom within their domain. This will be a recipe for future war. |

mide419: Is it a farm ?
That should be your first question.
Are the cows authorised to be there by the owner of the land oga?
Is cow business govt business sir?
Can a yoruba man do the same in Kano?
Be fair even with social media comments.
The ground you are stepping on is judging you. You will be surprised to hear that those cows are most likely owned by Benin indigenes who only employed the Fulani man to care for them. At least that is the way it is for more than 80% of cattle reared in the South West. Ranching by the private owners of the cattle is the answer. Government has no business in providing ranches for private livestock businessmen. |

Xander85: Yorubas' are free to do whatever the fuc/k they want regarding Jimoh Ibrahim! It's their look out! Ndigbo will not set our agenda or react on issues based on the actions, reactions or inactions of the Yoruba! Gerrit?
Given our journey thus far in this evil contraption you call a country, you as a Yoruba man (or wherever it is you're from) can never begin to understand or appreciate our challenges and experiences....not even in a million years!
You may have seen Jimoh Ibrahim of actually being guilty or responsible for whatever befell him and his company, i don't know. But in the case of Senator Oduah, you can't pretend not to notice most of your kinsmen are already branding her a thief! For what? Has she been convicted of any crime?
You can't pretend not to notice how the OP of this thread is already branding her in a negative light and it even looks like he's enjoying her travails. As a Igbo person, given our experiences in this shithole you call a country, just how else do you expect me to react to this?
Showing me links and news reports saying Senator Oduah is being tried for whatever is all well and good, but like i said, until she's convicted by a competent court of law for stealing or corruption, branding her a 'thief' as many of you are doing is something no fair-minded person will take! Especially in light of the huge log currently lodged in your own eyes! “Princess Oduah-Ogiemwonyi, a serving member of the 8th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has been having a running battle with AMCON over her inability to settle her huge debt of nearly N20billion,” Mr Nwauzor said in the statement sent to PREMIUM TIMES.What does tribe have to do with repaying a N20billion loan? Does it mean that people from some tribal extraction shouldn't repay their bank loans? |

RZArecta2: Monorail that consultants warned against because of the prohibitive cost. Why do you think the original contractors ran away ? $400 million spent already on a 1.2km journey so far. Op, which state governor in Nigeria can afford such expenses right now ? Be honest with yourself. Remember this project is wholly financed by Rivers state govt, I laughed at day one during the oil boom era of last administration knowing it won't last forever and I'm still laughing now. As it stands now, UTC to Sharks stadium is 50 naira bus or taxi journey for those who don't want to trek/stroll it, I challenge anybody to prove me wrong, even if the train is operated now on this trekking distance, they can't run it on 50 naira per passenger so it's not even viable by any ramification right now. The only way out is if Amaechi will use federal might to take over the project since it's on Aba rd which is a federal road but we know that won't happen since the same Amaechi refused to touch Omagwa airport just to spite Wike. Op, make we leave turkey for pot abeg What about renegotiating the contract or terminating the current contract and awarding to a different contractor at a cheaper rate? If the British people were thinking as some distances as treckable, they will not have the current London underground system. Same for New York and other developed cities around the world. |
