Car Talk › Re: How Was Your First Car Bashing Experience? by repogirl(f): 9:36am On Oct 22, 2013
Mine was a minor bash sha, one early morning o, I went to move the car so a neighbor could go out, all the mirrors and back screen were foggy but I felt like I had it covered.... I reversed back only to bump into a parked car behind. The damage to my own car wasn't much, bumper scratched a bit but the guys back door pressed inside.

I just parked and went to call my husband to settle the thing for me... The owner of the car didn't make a fuss sef as I was a woman....I got off really easy.

specialguest: You have been really helpful thankx. Would find a professional to talk to before i make the purchase however since i am a beginner am sure either if the domestic machines will do. I have seen lots of designs online that i would love to try and i wish we had training centers for that in Abuja. Anyway i guess i would have to learn using the same method as you. Once more thank you
U`re welcome, glad to help.

Pattey: You're very correct, don't mind the guy. . . After all, if "three winners" weren't selected per category, your 'Mynd_44' wouldn't have featured at all as a "winner" grin. . . Even if it was as an "Assistant Winner". . . Congrats Oga Moderator cheesy
yeehsh!

Princessa, okay, u r right to an extent but I still refuse to accept that because a story is ongoing puts it in a favorable position, something memorable will stand out, e.g. tenth generation........anyway, for me the awards are a great idea just needs some tightening up.

We weren't made aware that three people would emerge as winners and that's where my surprise came from.....its not as if we are receiving prize sef..... Like mynd said, it should be fun..... But let's know the rules from the onset.

Anyway I have talked enuf jare, lemme go and complete my own story

specialguest: Thankx @repogirl.. I checked online and saw 2 machines I might love. Singer Futura xl 550 and brother innov 4000d however both are abit pricey as you said but I guess it would be worth the money. Are you into computerised embroidery please? I would be glad if I can get the address around amigo so I can check because I am also in Abuja. Thankx
if u check their site. u shld see the address, i dont remember it, its in a plaza opposite choice furnishings.

as for embroidery, its a hobby of mine also, but i've not had the time to use the machine so I'm no pro at it. i went thru the tutorial on the CD and did some youtube but i've pqcked the machine in a corner for now till further notice.

also note that futura and innov are more of domestic machines, they are great but not industrial so they wont be really fast and cant do bulk or it will breakdown, but since its a hobby of urs, it will be fine.

on the other hand, if u want to make money from this, i wld suggest talking to a professional first before purchasing your machine.
You don vex finish? If not abeg tear you shirt and bra and lemme grab my cameratonguetonguegringrin

this is not a competition neither is it a popularity contest. Your suggestion is flawed cos writers whose work is finished will be disadvantaged and those whose work is running will be favored. Remember those whose work have not finished asked for special permission.

This is to honor people.

Having said that, tear you cloth, I wan see things
u want to see what will make you blind? i dont buy this writers that have finished thing...... tenth generation finished long ago, did it not?

anyway.....vex ke? why do people think am vexing when i am simply voicing an opinion?

yellowpawpaw: Child bride abound everywhere in naija though its quite rampant in the north.
A small gal that just finished primary sch was giving out in marriage by her family in enugu state.
I saw this gal that used to call me aunty and I will dash her something backing a child like after one year somewhere and I really don't know what to call her. She was like a maid. Meanwhile the elder bro that gave her out in marriage was yet to marry. All his galfriends were undergrads. Once asked him why they did that, he said she was betrothed at birth.

In my town, when we were very small, one child wife' funeral was performed while she was yet alive. Reason, she used pestle to kill the husband. Of course she was sent to jail but she didn't last.she is now a graduate and working in abuja in her husband's house.

Initially people were against her but with time, d stigmazition stopd. I gat to interact with her as an adult and she told me she was self defending herself and never meant to kill him.
where's d guy that has been saying if you do the crime, you have to do the time........ Some cases differ!

specialguest: Lovely thread. I actually took time to go through most of the images posted on this thread and i must say the creativity and skills displayed by most of you is second to none. I have a flair for embroidery designs even though i am an I.T professional but would like to learn computerized embroidery design as a hobby. For those of you in the field please which machine do you recommend for home use and where can i get training in Abuja? I checked both singer and brother websites and discovered they dont have dealers in west africa for computerized embroidery design machines therefore i may have to source for one locally. Any useful suggestions are welcomed please.
its best you buy online and then ship down, it isnt expensive, when i bought my janome i used thia agent, mytp-3 . com, they have an office in wuse 2, before amigo supermarket but check online first. tutorials can be found online, youtube is very good.

also, there are so many machines online so look through and be sure of what you want before purchasing

Dantedasz: Dearie,
Understand my point very well-I abhor all forms of violence in marriage because it will only lead to more violence.
All these feminist pocket lawyers saying it was self defense will not help this confused 16 year old child mother when the Police get hold of her and throw her in Kirikiri-Has her violent act not begat more violence? What about her two kids who have lost their dad and are about to lose their mum to the sh1tstem?
No sex has monopoly of violence and no human has the right to deny another his/her right to life.
get her a good lawyer and it will do you like film trick when she walks away.

afterall, she had a witness, she picked up the knife again when the husband wanted to start another round of beating.

how i wish there are pictures to show her scars from previous bashings, plus shes a minor, a young mother coping with raising two kids and then an abusive husband?

do you think she will even be okay mentally under all that stress?
the stakes might just be in her favour.

Dantedasz: Sweet heart,
I wonder what your opinion is about the man(AROWOLO) who slashed his wifes neck with a butchers knife because she was nagging him?

No sex has a monopoly of violence in marriage and violence only begets more violence.
This sixteen year old is on the run with two kids from the law.
Once again she had no right to take a life!
Dearie,

A man raising his hand to a woman deserves whatever he gets..... how are you a man when you cant show self restraint and patience?

women are women, we can run our mouth and be annoying as hell but the true strength of a man is in walking away, u'll see how stupid the woman would feel when she's talking to herself.

But when he raises his hand to her, God sef will not let him go unpurnished.

BTW, d bolded above shows just how foolish some men are, slashing ones wife because she was nagging. mtchewww!!

Dantedasz: I just love the women in this section of Nairaland. Lets play a little game and juxtapose this case-if the husband had stabbed the wife-would the posts on this thread carry the same tone/message?
Yes,this man was a brute who inflicted violence on his wife. He might have been a craddle snatcher for marrying a sixteen year old girl and turning her into a child bearing machine, but did he deserve to die from his wifes knife like a chicken? NO!
She had no right to take his life and this can be termed premeditated, cold blooded murder.
not only did he cradle rob, he was always beating her........ it gets to a point when enough is enough, and when that point comes, its hard to stop oneself and if one isnt careful, the result will be death, as in this case.

This could be termed manslaughter but abeg...... it was kill or eventually be killed jare! self defence in my own books, i give her a pat on the back.

Theres nothing you can do, he owns his eyes, he will stare if he wants to........ obviously talking about it makes it worse for him.

its good he knows u're on to him, for me, my husband can stare but if he takes it further than that, thats where we'll have a problem.

u guys are still early in marriage, this is the period the nastiness starts, i've learnt to look at marriage through a cynic's eyes, that way i expect anything.

Family › Re: Why Are Some Men Heartless by repogirl(f): 4:17pm On Oct 20, 2013
hmmm, I have seen so much in this marriage thing that no story I hear can surprise me. You are a strong woman, you've been through this for eighteen years, whats a few more years?

your eldest should be about 18, hang on for a whiile, let them finish their education, if you still decide to leave later, fine. at this point if you want to leave, its for your sanity and happiness, not to find another husband. It doesnt get better, I've stopped trying to understand men.

men will always hurt you and usually they dont mean to, just be strong, try to reconcile with your family, try and get something doing that earns you money....even if you have to sell those rams to start a business. smiley

when a man calls all the shots, pride and other bad habits set in, you dont need a man to make u happy, just manage for now while making plans for your future.

many if us are victims of love, its strange how someone you thought was your soul mate becomes so different after marriage, like you never knew him at all.

pray for him, God willing he will change but make your plans and look toward them, they will keep you happy when every other thing seems to be falling apart.

I don't quite agree with this, I use these words really frequently, perhaps this writer could be wrong? I find these words very important and not weak at all. Just because it might not work for one person, doesn't mean they are weak.

Every word has its role to play in writing.

Blackbeauty: I discovered the popular books are no page turners..thats how I read 50 shades of grey, half of a yellow sun and odas...was wondering what people were raving about!
maybe, its not your kinda genre? Maybe you expect sooo much from a book? They're just stories, I'm a romance fanatic and I absolutely adore the fifty shades trilogy although I skipped a lot of uninteresting stuff.

Or maybe you just want to go against the crowd of people who like the book.... Anyway, its not compulsory a story must impact everyone...... Doesn't stop them from being best sellers.

As for me I don't care whether they lip-sync or not, I just go to live performances to enjoy the music and ogle shirtless performers. grin, dbanj, psquare, iyanya are my favorites.

besides, foreign artistes do lip sync these days. Even Whitney, bless her soul. Britney, Beyonce, Rihanna, even gaga does lip sync some times, it depends on the show. Gaga lip-synced in her performance in d last VMA's.

I have seen some of our Nigerian artists perform to their music without lip syncing although their music plays in the background. MI, DBanj, Tiwa savage, flavour. You hear their voices.

Performance isn't easy jare, give them some credit, most of them are not as wack as nilly vanilly.

When did this zoning thing even start again, give us candidates based on their qualifications and not because of tribe!!

this tribal thing is what is ruining this country.
