Foreign Affairs › Re: Assassination Attempt Made On Russian President, Vladmir Putin by RepoMan007: 5:29pm On May 03, 2023 |
lhordspy: There are 3 sides to this.
Firstly, it is either Russia is trying to use a false flag operation, by carrying out a self-sabotage, a pretext to escalate things in Ukraine. Maybe Russia is getting tired of the petty military operation. They want to start levelling the ground already. They needed a tangible reason to do that, and an attempt on Putin life is a very solid reason to escalate things.
Or secondly, Maybe Some sections or groups of the Ukrainian military are feeling fly and stupid, or maybe suicidal; probably inflated and intoxicated by the empty-promises of the west. So they are trying to dare Russia and see what the hell they can do.
Or maybe, The Ukrainian military truly launched the attack. With the confidence that no one is actually going to believe the Russian's part of the story. Afterall their puppeteer, the Un!ted state controls the media. The world only believe what they want us to believe.
Whichever way, one thing is certain: There will be repercussion, there will be consequences. Ukraine is in trouble. ...and why is such an 'attack' coming when Ukraine is about to go on a counteroffensive? It is a false flag or at best a pro-kiev group acting independently of Kiev. Moscow needs any silly excuse to escalate and save their faces as well as win dwindling support within. |

omohayek: This is what so many Nigerians fail to understand about why they get the quality of leadership they do. Nigerian politics has a systemic problem with how it is funded, a problem which has made corruption an unavoidable part of the formula for succeeding in the system right since the 1940s. This is why anyone hoping for a supposedly clean "messiah" to appear and save Nigerians from themselves is living in a pipe dream. It is simply impossible to get anywhere in Nigerian politics without engaging in substantial corruption.
The root of the problem is that Nigerian political parties aren't really funded by their memberships. In most other parts of the world, parties are funded primarily through the donations of individual party members, usually with strict limits on how much each member can contribute to any given contest. In Nigeria most party "members" are essentially alms seekers, hoping to land either a public sector "job", a padded contract or some other such benefit by helping some bigger fish to land a "juicy" post where he/she can then dole out favors to reward supporters - the idea of impoverished party members using their limited private funds to pay for campaigns is simply a non-starter. As such, political campaigns have to be funded in a different way, namely by either making promises to wealthy donors, or outright stealing the necessary funds directly from the public purse.
It's because of all the above that I laugh at anyone who sees Peter Obi, or anyone else who has been successful in Nigerian politics at the level of a governor or senator, as being a "clean" voice for "change" who will "sweep away" the entrenched corruption that has been part of Nigerian life at every level since the British started allowing "the natives" into the Nigerian civil service. Without strict, well-enforced limits on who can fund a party and with how much, Nigerian politics will never change, but all of Nigeria's political parties would immediately collapse if such limits were ever miraculously imposed. In summary, politics of greed where big wigs entice poor and desperate foot soldiers bribes and perks. Especially at the presidential level. Ky(h)m + _e_a_(o)_o |

Politics › Re: FG May Be Unable To Pay Salaries Beyond June 2023 Without Removing Fuel Subsidy by RepoMan007: 12:53pm On May 02, 2023 |
nairalanda1: 1. Shows that APC has failed in diversifying the economy
2.Having said that, the man is right.
The problem with fuel subsides is simple. Let's use a hypothetical example.
A lot of Nigerians say that we should reduce fuel to N65 a liter. Well, in 2011, December, a liter of fuel was N65, while the landing cost was N99. So, we was paying N34 per liter of fuel.
Now, if we kept fuel at N65 a liter up to September 2022, when the landing cost was N500, we would have been paying about N435 per liter of fuel in subsidy.
Multiply that by our fuel consumption, then let's not forget that fuel consumption in 2011 is far less than fuel consumption now.
That means that all our budget money would go to subsidy plus more of our loans...
There is a reason why subsidy has to go.
(Obaseki is not in APC by the way). Roadside analyst. You are shouting all our money all our money as if it isnt being stolen recklessly. Let the stolen portion be stopped. The wasted portion also should be stopped. Then subsidy can be questioned if the fiscal pressure persist. |

Redman44: You guys should stop condemning this dude. Has any of his 4 children died? NO. All the grains he ground together contain other nutrients apart from Carbohydrates. Guinea Corn and Millet contain protein, magnesium, calcium, Vitamin B1 and Vitamin B6, Fibre etc. Millet also contains calcium and iron. So, he is not doing anything wrong. We have to start thinking in Nigeria. All the baby food like Cerelac etc have their own deficiencies and they are factory processed. Let us focus on our native grains. Cheers. You have point sha. They have a lot, may be not all, but a lot too. My fear is will the child be able to digest those adult foods? |
