Politics › Boko Haram Hostages Reveal Truth About Captivity by resty4(op): 9:22am On May 19, 2015
Meriam, one of the hostages recently rescued from Boko Haram, has spoken about her time in captivity. In particular, she described how the insurgents train abducted girls and women for suicide missions. Other abductees also recalled their shocking ordeal.“They said, ‘God will forgive us,’ Then, they would enter the vehicles, and they would send the women away.”
Chibok girls
The former captive also said she had seen some of the Chibok girls at Gwoza hospital adding that they had apparently been given special status by Boko Haram.
Other victims speak up
The interviewed females said they had been kept in groups and forced into sexual relationships with the militants. Sometimes the aim was to impregnate the abductees.
Hamsatu, aged 25, said “they married me” and revealed she was four months pregnant by a Boko Haram member.
“They chose the ones they wanted to marry. If anybody shouts, they said they would shoot them.”Yahauwa, 30, who tested positive for HIV after the rescue, asked the relief doctor with her eyes full of tears:
“Is it from the people who forced me to have affairs with them?..
“When they came, they would select the one they wanted to sleep with. They said, ‘If you do not marry us, we will slaughter you.’  ”
A young woman Yana, who could not even recall her age, was kept together with 50 other women in a house in Bama, Borno state.
“If they want to have an affair with a woman, they will just take her to a private place, so that the others won’t see.”
The relief workers said she had been raped so often that the psychological trauma was devastating.
Borno authorities
Kashim Shettima, the Borno state governor said that many of the women had been impregnated intentionally for another generation of the insurgents to emerge.
“The sect leaders make a very conscious effort to impregnate the women. Some of them, I was told, even pray before mating, offering supplications for God to make the products of what they are doing become children that will inherit their ideology,” he said.
Abba Mohammed Bashir Shuwa, an official from Maiduguri, added:
“It’s like they wanted to have their own siblings, to take over from them.”The claim was confirmed by Hadiza Waziri, a relief representative.
“We are going to have another set of Boko Haram. Most of these women now, they don’t want these pregnancies. You cannot love the child.”
More killings and abductions recorded
Meanwhile Sabongari town in Madagali LGA of Adamawa state was stormed by the Boko Haram militants over the weekend. The fighters killed many people and abducted six women, Vanguard reports.
Musa, one of the locals, said that the insurgents had arrived at about 10 pm Sunday night and started shooting sporadically.
The attack comes amid a series of successful anti-Boko Haram operations carried out by the Nigerian military in the northeast.http://www.naij.com/441378-boko-haram-hostages-reveal-truth-about-captivity.html

Politics › Buhari To Appoint New Service Chiefs, NSA, DG SSS by resty4(op): 6:47am On May 11, 2015
Barring all unforeseen circumstances, all the service chiefs, the director general, State Security Services (SSS) and the national security adviser (NSA) are going with President Goodluck Jonathan, LEADERSHIP can now authoritatively report.

The service chiefs are Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, the chief of defence staff (CDS), Lt General Kenneth Tobiah Jacob Minimah, the chief of army staff, Vice Admiral Usman O. Jibrin, the chief of naval staff (CNS) and Air Marshal Adesola Nunayon Amosu, chief of air staff.

These top military chiefs were appointed by the outgoing President Goodluck Jonathan, when on 16th January, 2014, a statement issued and signed by his media adviser, Dr Reuben Abati announced their appointments in replacement of the then chief of defence staff, Admiral Ola Sa’ad Ibrahim; chief of army staff, Lt. Gen. Azuibuike Ihejirika; and chief of naval staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Joseph Ezeoba.

Speaking with LEADERSHIP last week, an informed security observer explained that it was the usual practice that service chiefs departed from the scene once the tenure of their principal expired in order to allow the new helmsman to begin on a fresh note.

“It is the norm; service chiefs always depart from the scene with the man who hired them in order to allow the new leader to bring in those who are loyal to him. Remember, when former President Olusegun Obasanjo came in, he sacked those who worked for General Abdusalami Abubakar and brought his own into the offices.

Those who came on board with Obasanjo on 29th May, 1999 were Lt-Gen.Victor Malu (Army), Vice-Admiral Victor Ombu (Navy) and Air Marshal Isaac Alfa (Air Force) to replace Maj.-Gen. Alex Ogomudia (Army), Rear-Admiral Samuel Afolayan (Navy) and Air Vice-Marshal Jonah Wuyep (Air Force).

Speaking further, our source, a retired military officer, explained that with the security challenges going on in the country, the incoming president would like to overhaul the security agencies with a view to bringing in those whom he believes would help him accomplish his vision.

“With or without the ongoing war against the terrorists, Buhari would inject his own men whom he believes would help him implement his vision for the nation in terms of the security challenges. Those who are there now have been doing their best and we are seeing the results, yet that should not stop Buhari from appointing his own men at least for security and loyalty reasons”.

Our source who reminded us that Jonathan himself replaced those he inherited from the late President Umaru Yar’Adua also disclosed that the new president, General Buhari would name a new NSA and new DG, SSS in his first week in office who would help him in identifying those who could be in charge of all the security agencies.

Politics › Nigeria Federal Civil Servants To Undergo Compulsory Certificates Screening by resty4(op): 8:57am On May 08, 2015
All civil servants on the Nigerian federal government payroll are to undergo compulsory verification and revalidation of their credentials and service records.
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Danladi Kifasi, directed officials handling the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System to undertake the exercise.
The exercise, Mr. Kifasi said in a circular issued by the Permanent Secretary (Special Duties) in his office, Amina Shamaki, that screening should cover the verification and revalidation of vital documents belonging to all workers in the core Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
The Head of Service said staff of all Federal Government agencies in outstations in all the states of the federation would be screened in collaboration with other IPPIS stakeholders.
The exercise, which is in its second phase, would begin in Abuja from Monday, May 11 to May 22, 2015, and May 18 to 22, 2015 in the North-East and North Central zones.
When the exercise is concluded, Mr. Kifasi said it would provide a centralised database for the Nigerian Public Service with a single, accurate source of employee information that would aid government’s manpower planning and decision making.
The Nigerian government’s decision to screen its workers came about two months after PREMIUM TIMES exposed a case of certificate forgery involving a staff of the National Broadcasting Commission, Caroline Animan.
Ms. Animan, a confidential secretary at NBC, said to have been an employee of the Commission for over 20 years, presented a forged National Diploma certificate in Secretarial Studies purportedly issued by Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Ogun State (formerly Ogun State Polytechnic).
But the institution eventually confirmed the “certificate” presented by Ms. Animan (formerly Carolene U. Umelue) as fake, following an official investigation and document verification by the NBC.
The Principal Assistant Registrar (Exams and Records) of the Polytechnic, Olusegun Ogunpola, through a letter titled: “Re: Request for Document Verification: Carolene U. Umelue” dated June 23, 2014 categorically said the certificate was fake.
Subsequently, the NBC official saddled with the responsibility of verifying the document presented by Ms. Animan submitted a report titled “Re: Report On Document Verification: Statement Of Result Presented By Caroline Animan (Mrs)” to the Director General of the NBC through the Zonal Director, Ibadan Zone, on June 24, 2014.
The report indicted Ms. Animan and recommended she be ultimately dismissed after facing appropriate disciplinary committee, in line with Public Service Rule. It attached the letter from the Polytechnic and the forged certificate marked “fake” by Mr. Ogunpola of the Exams and Records of the institution.
Ms. Animan was investigated following noticeable poor work output.
Nigeria’s public service rule considers the presentation of forged credentials a case of gross (serious) misconduct for which erring officials should be punished with dismissal, once the allegations are proven.
It is uncertain at this time whether the NBC has taken disciplinary action against Ms. Animan, although insiders in the Commission suggested she has been suspended from duties.http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/182611-nigeria-federal-civil-servants-to-undergo-compulsory-certificates-screening.html
Politics › Buhari Shouldn't Reverse Privatisation Of Power Sector - FG by resty4(op): 8:14pm On May 06, 2015
The incoming administration of the president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari got warning from the Federal Government.
FG asked Buhari to avoid reversing the privatisation of the power sector carried out by the leaving government administration.
Professor Chinedu Nebo, the Minister of Power, stated this in an interview with State House reporters after the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting.
He also attributed the poor power provision being witnessed across the country to those he named demon-possessed Nigerians who he said deduce pleasure in vandalising gas pipelines without any reasons.
READ ALSO: Why Buhari Must Deliver On Electricity
Speaking about the problem, Nebo said he had never in his life seen anything “frustrating ‎as what we are experiencing today.”
On privatisation, he said any call for the incoming government to inverse the exercise was an ill-advice.
The minister added that any effort to do that would mean to setting the nation back for many decades.
He said, “On privatisation, ‎I think the incoming government will be ill-advised to ‎reverse privatisation and liberalisation of power generation, transmission and distribution because any attempt to do that would be to set Nigeria back many decades.
“The gains of privatisation are very obvious. If we can solve the problem of gas like we are talking about energy mix, we are not just going by gas we are doing hydros.
“It was this same administration that flagged off Zungeru hydro power plants for 750MW and it is in the bid to flag off Mambilla 3,050MW. Shiroro has been improved, revamped, Kanji revamped and improved, the same as Jebba.
“So, there is a lot of work being done by the government; however to turn back on privatisation would mean stopping all of these companies and then reversing the massive in flow of investments coming into the power sector.
“Nigeria’s power consumption per capita is one of the lowest in the world and that is part of the efforts of government to reverse that. So I ‎don’t think it is in the best interest of the country to reverse privatisation.”
READ ALSO: 3 Major Nigerian Problems Buhari Should Tackle – Dangote
Nebo also spoke about poor power supply in Nigeria, adding that he had never been disappointed this way in his life.
“I have never in my life seen anything as frustrating ‎as what we are experiencing today.
“Every month, the Nigerian gas company spends a minimum of N120 million to fix gas pipeline.
” Every two weeks, western axis pipelines are vandalised and that is pure sabotage; the eastern axis pipelines are vandalised and that is oil theft.”
“Four major joints they are working on is going to cost them N1.5 billion. Is that the way to give light to the country?” the minister questioned.
He said the situation underpinned the problem of planning and putting all the nation’s eggs in one basket which this government has done everything to reverse.
The minister said there were days he felt like crying over vandalism.
It should be mentioned that power sector shareholdershave expressed different views about how the incoming administration should handle the industry, especially the privatisation of key power assets. While some call for a review of the privatisation of the power sector, others see it as unnecessary and uncalled for.http://www.naij.com/434107-buhari-shouldnt-reverse-privatisation-of-power-sector-fg.html

Well said
true2god:
That is one of the reasons I said that islam is a bad influence to humanity. With the population of women world over, how would muslims consider first cousin marriage appropriate? In my home town, sexx with first cousin is considered an incestt and a taboo to the community, but in islam it is normal.

Mohammed had made many abnormal things look normal, many shameful acts look good and many criminal actions look noble. It is unfortunate that muslims are the first victims of these abnormalities in islam and in the life of mohammed.

Mohammed really revolutionalized the arab-muslim world into a gigantic 'psychotic' assylum.

Know mohammed, know no peace.

No to mohammed, know peace.

Politics › I Will Hand Over A Nigeria Completely Free Of Terrorist Strongholds – Jonathan by resty4(op): 9:46pm On Apr 30, 2015
President Goodluck Jonathan has pledged that he will do all within his powers to ensure that all Nigerian territory still held by Boko Haram insurgents are totally liberated before May 29th.
He made the pledge when he had audience with a delegation of Heads of Customs from the West and Central African Region of the World Customs Organisation led by the Secretary-General of the organisation, Mr. Kunio Mikuriya.
President Jonathan said that he was determined to hand over a country completely free of terrorist strongholds to the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari.
The President said that ongoing military operations in the North-East had already recorded huge successes, with two states completely free from the control of terrorists, while operations in the third state had reached a concluding stage.
“We can now say two states are completely free from terrorist control, while in the third state, it is only in one Local Government Area that they are still present. That is in the Sambisa Forest,” he said.
He disclosed that the military had already moved into the forest to seize the remaining camps of the terrorists, adding that the recent rescue of about 300 abducted girls and women was further evidence of the success being achieved in the ongoing operation.
On his decision to concede victory to the President-elect, Buhari, before all the results of the presidential elections were announced, Jonathan said that elections must be approached from a nationalistic point of view.
“Our elections should be about where Nigeria is going. If Nigeria is moving forward, it is for the good of all Nigerians. My children and grandchildren will live and grow in this country and contribute to it.
“I always tell my colleagues to leave office when their time is up. We are trying to encourage African leaders not to remain in power as kings until death,” he said.
Mikuriya in his remarks commended the President for supporting the reform of the Nigeria Customs Service, noting that other African countries had already started emulating the vision, strategy, adoption to new technology and result- oriented training of officers that were captured in Nigeria’s reforms.http://sunnewsonline.com/new/?p=117196
