Politics › Cleric Drops Alarming Prophecy, Begs Nigerians To Pray by resty4(op): 4:35pm On Mar 15, 2015
There has been a lot of prophecies and revelations about the forthcoming general election.
With only two weeks to the presidential elections scheduled for March 28, a Nigerian cleric based in the United Kingdom, Bishop Bassey Effiong Orok has called on the presidency and Nigerians to pray hard so that the death of a prominent Nigerian in the President Goodluck Jonathan’s cabinet would be averted.
According to Daily Independent report, Orok, who is an acclaimed seer, asked the president to persuade members of his cabinet to go spiritual for God’s intervention.
The cleric said: “Soon, a prominent Nigerian citizen who works within the Presidency will pass away. This means Nigeria as a nation will soon observe a minute’s silent for a departed soul.
“President Goodluck Jonathan should, therefore, pray to Almighty God and at the same time call his cabinet to pray fervently, because it is time for politicians and indeed Nigerians and all of humanity in general to know that when you try to pull your fellow man down, you are trying to pull yourself down and when you pull your fellow man down, you have succeeded in pulling yourself down. Whatever a man sows, so shall he reap.”

He however did not mention the timing of the impending death.
Speaking about Boko Haram, Orok said: “Members of the Boko Haram militant group will come out to vote. This is one of the wonders the Almighty God is taking Nigeria as a nation through. In this regard, therefore, it is better for all sets of militants operating in any part of Nigeria, including those of Niger Delta, to put a total stop to such acts because under the sun there is time for everything.”
Orok also predicted that private jet owners in Nigeria would soon regret their choice of opulence to the detriment of millions of poor Nigerians.
“It would not be long from now when private jet owners would not be able to maintain their jets, because most Nigerians think they can play over the Almighty God who created them. Those that think so should be pitied,” he added.Orok is known for his accurate predictions. Some include the death of General Sani Abacha, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, John Attah Mills of Ghana, and Olusegun Obasanjo’s failed third term bid.
Some days back, a popular Ghanaian pastor Apostle B.B. Frederick had said President Jonathan will on March 28 win the presidential electiononce again.http://www.naij.com/402779-cleric-drops-alarming-prophecy-begs-nigerians-to-pray.html

Politics › Court Summons YDP Over Misrepresentation Of Judgment by resty4(op): 5:31pm On Mar 12, 2015
A Federal High Court in Abuja has summoned officials of the new Young Democratic Party to appear on March 23 over alleged misrepresentation of its judgment ordering the registration of the party.
The presiding judge, Justice Ahmed Mohammed, said the court was embarrassed by the claim of the party officials at a press conference that in its judgment of March 4, 2015, it ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to shift the 2015 elections in order to accommodate the party in the polls. The party had on the strength of the alleged court’s pronouncement scheduled its primaries for March 26 and 27 ahead of the general polls scheduled for March 28 and April 11, 2015.
The court on Thursday ordered YDP’s lead counsel, Kelvin Nwofo (SAN), to investigate the issue and produce all the persons who addressed the press conference in court.
The judge made the order when the application for stay of execution of the March 4, 2015 judgment filed by INEC came up on Thursday. INEC is by its application seeking a stay of execution of the judgment on the grounds that it had filed a notice of appeal dated March 9, 2015 against the March 4 verdict before the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal.
The PUNCH had obtained a copy of the enrolled order made in the judgment by the court and reported on Thursday that the document showed that apart from ordering INEC to issue certificate of registration to the party, the court did not order that the party be allowed to participate in the polls.
Justice Mohammed, who said he received calls from different parts of the country and abroad, held in a short ruling that the party’s claim during the said press conference had put the court in “a very negative light.”
He said if Nwofo failed to comply with his directive to produce the persons involved in the press conference on March 23, the court would not hesitate to “cite any person who misrepresented its record and judgment for contempt.”
He added in his short ruling, “As far as the court is concerned no such orders were made. “In fact, even the plaintiff, the Young Democratic Party, did not seek such reliefs from the court. “It is therefore very unfortunate that that the court is portrayed in a very negative perspective.
“One would have expected that the person concerned to approach the court and obtain the certified true copy of the judgment to see the orders made by the court.
“In the light of the embarrassing situation, I hereby direct the learned senior counsel to the plaintiff to investigate this ugly development and bring the persons or possible persons who held the press conference to court on the next adjourned date to show the court where the said order was made, failing which the court will not hesitate to cite any person who misrepresented its record and judgment for contempt.”
According to the enrolled order of the judgment, the court, only ordered the INEC to issue certificate of registration to the party.
The judge had held in the judgment that YDP was deemed registered as a political party by virtue of the failure of INEC to communicate its decision not to register the then political association as a political party within 30 days of receiving its (the plaintiff’s) application as stipulated in section 78 (4) of the Electoral Act. A copy of the court’s judgment also obtained on Wednesday showed that the plaintiff – the YDP – did not ask for inclusion in the polls in its amended originating summons dated December 2, 2014http://www.punchng.com/news/court-summons-ydp-over-misrepresentation-of-judgment/

Travel › First Solar-powered Plane Begins Flight by resty4(op): 9:28am On Mar 10, 2015
A Swiss solar-powered plane has taken off from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates marking the start of the first attempt to fly around the world without a dropof fuel,Al Jazeerareports.
The Solar Impulse 2, piloted by Andre Borschberg of Switzerland, took off at 7.12am local time (0412 GMT) on Monday from the UAE’s Al-Bateen airport and headed to Muscat, the capital of Oman, where it is expected to land later after the first leg of the journey.
The developers said the aim was to create awareness about replacing “old polluting technologies with clean and efficient technologies”.
Andre Borschberg, Solar Impulse co-founder, was at the controls of the single-seater when it took off from the Al Bateen airport in the UAE on Monday morning.
The take-off, which was originally scheduled for Saturday but delayed due to high winds, capped 13 years of research and testing by Borschberg and fellow Swiss pilot Bertrand Piccard.
The pilot would take turns to fly the plane around the world and switch seats during stopovers.
The plane at the Abu Dhabi’s airport… on Monday. Photo: AFP
Two hours and 15 minutes into the flight, Borschberg was 13 per cent of the way to Muscat and attempting to give media interviews before calling his wife, according to a website monitoring his progress.
Shortly before take-off, Borschberg, 63, said on Twitter that the “challenge to come is real for me and the airplane”.
“This project is a human project, it is a human challenge,” Borschberg said on Sunday.
The wingspan of the one-seater plane, known as the Si2, is slightly bigger than that of a jumbo jet, but its weight is around that of a family car.
From Muscat, it will make 12 stops on an epic journey spread over five months, with a total flight time of around 25 days.
It will cross the Arabian Sea to India before heading on to Myanmar, China, Hawaii and New York.
Landings are also earmarked for the midwestern US and either southern Europe or North Africa, depending on weather conditions.
The longest single leg will see a lone pilot fly non-stop for five days across the Pacific Ocean between Nanjing, China and Hawaii, a distance of 8,500km.
Borschberg and Piccard will alternate stints flying the plane, which can hold only one person, with the aircraft able to fly on autopilot during rest breaks.
The pilots have undergone intensive training in preparation for the trip, including in yoga and self-hypnosis, allowing them to sleep for periods as short as 20 minutes but awaken feeling refreshed.
All this will happen without burning a drop of fuel.
The pilots will be linked to a control centre in Monaco where 65 weathermen, air traffic controllers and engineers will be stationed. A team of 65 support staff will travel with the two pilots.
Should a problem occur while sleeping, the ground staff can wake up the pilot.
“We want to share our vision of a clean future,” Piccard, 57, who is chairman of Solar Impulse, said of the mission.
“Climate change is a fantastic opportunity to bring in the market new green technologies that save energy, save natural resources of our planet, make profit, create jobs, and sustain growth.”
The pilots’ idea was ridiculed by the aviation industry when it was first unveiled.
But Piccard, who hails from a family of scientist-adventurers and who in 1999 became the first person to circumnavigate the globe in a hot air balloon, clung to his belief that clean technology and renewable energy “can achieve the impossible”.
The plane is powered by more than 17,000 solar cells built into wings that, at 236ft, are longer than a jumbo and approaching that of an Airbus A380 superjumbo.
Thanks to an innovative design, the lightweight carbon fibre aircraft weighs only 2.3 tonnes, about the same as a family 4×4 and less than one percent of the weight of the A380.
The Si2 is the first solar-powered aircraft able to stay aloft for several days and nights.

Politics › I Saw Hell In Boko Haram's Den, Mechanic Declares by resty4(op): 2:33pm On Mar 09, 2015
A household provisions seller, Kwatri, has narrated how his claim that he was a mechanic and a Muslim helped him to escape from Boko Haram’s den in Mubi, Adamawa state.
Kwatri, who is a Christian, while narrating his ordeal in Boko Haram’s den to Daily Times at the NYSC camp for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at Damare in Adamawa state, informed that he repeatedly chanted: “Allahu Akbar” when he was confronted with death in the hands of the Boko Haram insurgents.
According to Kwatri, when the terrorists learnt he was a mechanic, they knew he could be put to good use because their vehicles often need the attention of mechanics.
While narrating how he was kidnapped by the Boko Haram insurgents, Kwatri, who stated that he had to name himself Mohammed, said: “I regret the day I chose to go to Mubi to buy goods for my provision shop in Michika. On that fateful day, I remember I asked my wife what should I buy for her and she replied that I should buy anything eatable.
“On reaching Maraban Mubi, I noticed that all the roads were blocked and I told myself that it must be the Nigerian army because all the people there were wearing khaki.
“Unknown to me, they were Boko Haram insurgents and had already levelled the whole of Maraban Mubi. There was nowhere to run to as the roads were had been blocked.
“Suddenly, somebody barked orders at me. I immediately knew that my life was in danger.” Then, one of the terrorists asked: “What do you do for a living?
“I lied and said, ‘I am a mechanic and shouted Allahu Akbar’. One of them said they should not kill me because of my skills as a mechanic.”
Boko Haram insurgents
Kwatri added that the insurgents then bundled him into a Hilux pickup van and drove deep into Sambisa forest. He said: “There I saw thousands of people from all walks of life doing one thing or the other. The Boko Haram members are really prepared for anything, seeing how well-organized they are and the structure of their leadership.
“They took me to a place they called training camp. There I noticed that all they do was to inculcate their beliefs and different orientation of Islam in people.
“It was a total brain wash of strange Islamic beliefs. What we mostly did at that stage was to maintain the day to day affairs of domestic issues based on what your field was.
“On a daily basis, we were made to go to a training camp where they taught us how to handle guns and manufacture bombs.”Kwatri stated that his dramatic escape from the Boko Haram’s den came the day their chief instructor was changed and another person who happened to be bearing his adopted name, Mohammed, took over.
He said: “The chief instructor was given a different assignment and they brought somebody called Alhaji Mohammed. He asked me my name.
“Fortunately, we were namesakes; my former name was no longer what I was answering. I answered Mohammed and our new instructor became fond of me.
“One day, he asked me whether I wanted to see my family in Michika and I said yes. “The following day oga Mohammed sent me on errand to get him one of abducted women in the next camp which was close to the Michika mountains, a walk of about 50 kilometers. And I told myself if I could trek that far, why should I not try to escape?
“I told myself if I die, I die and if I live, in live. I trekked as fast as I could. Before I knew it, I had arrived in Michika. I discovered that the place was still under the siege by Boko Haram.
“I looked for where to hide for the next day. At dawn, I sneaked away through a route to Hong and from Hong to Yola camp for displaced persons where I met so many people from my town in a pitiable situation.
“As I am talking to you now, I can find my wife and children.”
Meanwhile, the official representatives of the Nigerian military have announced the r ecapture of Buni Yadi and Buni Gari, Yobe state from Boko Haraminsurgents.

Politics › Army Reveals Why Shekau Hasn't Been Forcefully Captured by resty4(op): 9:58pm On Mar 06, 2015
The Nigerian Chief Of Defense Staff has revealed why the military have not carried out an aerial bombardment of Boko Haram Leader, Abubakar Shekau’s hideout.
Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau
According to the Nation, troops have not stormed Shekau’s hideout because the sect is using the Chibok girls as shield.
Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh, on Wednesday visited Chad to seek clarifications on some issues and map out plans with multi-national force on what a source described as the final onslaught against Boko Haram.
The military source, who spoke in confidence with The Nation, said Shekau and some members of his Shura Committee – the sect’s highest policy making body had been shuttling between Sambisa Forest and strategic locations, such as Gwoza and Bama.
The Chadian President, Idris Deby said Shekau’s convoy was sighted in Dikwa on Tuesday. But the military source explained that Shekau has a strong base in Gwoza with a special armoured tank.
The source said:“Troops have located what I may call Shekau’s bunker but they cannot strike because some of the Chibok girls are being used as shield by the leaders of Boko Haram.
“We want to do a clinical job with limited damage because the whole world is awaiting the safe return of the Chibok girls.
“ The ability of the troops to rescue some of the girls will earn more credit to the success of Nigerian military against the insurgents.
“We are also being extremely careful to avoid any military assault which may force Shekau to turn against the Chibok girls and other hostages in Boko Haram’s camps in the Northeast.
According to the source, intelligence report has indicated that recent bombings in Jos and other cities were borne out of anger against the military for reclaiming over 40 occupied territories and killing more than 300 insurgents.”
READ ALSO: Boko Haram Has Become Weak
Air Marshal Badeh on Wednesday met with the Chadian military hierarchy.
A source, who spoke in confidence, said:“ The session was used to iron out alleged claims by Chadian military that Nigerian troops were frustrating its collaborating troops in the Northeast.
“At the meeting, the Chadian military denied issuing such statement. Instead, it restated its commitment to collaboration with Nigeria to rout out the insurgents from the Northeast and the sub-region.
“After ironing out the misgivings, the CDS and Chadian counterpart later mapped out plans with the multi-national force on the final onslaught against Boko Haram.
“We are likely to see enhanced synergy between Nigerian troops and their Chadian counterparts in the next few days.”
