dabossman:
Bro, stop wasting your time trying to convince these folks. It is the Nigerian way. We always leave the real issues and chase shadows. Today it is Keshi. Before then it was Amodu, Christian Chukwu, Eguaveon, Berti Vogts, Lagerback and Siasia. When things go wrong we always centre everything around the coach.

We don't address the issues of player development. We have this false belief that we are blessed wth the best footballers in the world playing on the streets of Nigeria; as if playing monkey post is how you develop world class talent. At present I make bold to say that there is no Nigerian player that is in the top ten of his position worldwide save for maybe Enyeama. In fact make that top 20..., wait top 30. From defence to attack we have mediocre talent, yet we hype them like they are the next best discovery since ice cream.

The same people clamouring for IK Uche now, clamoured for Mikel's inclusion just two years ago when Siasia was coach. Mind you the same Uche could not single handedly qualifier us for 2012 Afcon, yet we think he can miraculously play from defence to attack and win us games. Did the inclusion of Osaze win us the World Cup? Our players are ordinary; playing for clubs that are not in the top 20 teams in the world.

Amuneke was signed by Barcelona for God's sake. Oliseh played for Ajax, juventus, Borrusia Dortmund; Taribo played for both Inter and AC Milan. Finidi was one of the best right wingers at a time; Okocha was a highly rated nom10. Today all we hear is this-spor and that-spor. Not even the Spur that matters.

We don't have any player to my knowledge who is the dedicated free-kick or corner-kick taker for their club like Okocha was for Bolton. If their club coaches who they see every day in training can't make them set-piece experts, is it the national team coach they see once in a while for 5 days that will turn them to experts? Our players are lazy and unambitious. All they care about is money, not excellence in their craft. Breaking out of Naija poverty is the only thing they aspire to. Ask any player in the local league, if in doubt.
Hitting the nail on the right spot.
Sports › Re: Super Eagles Can Still Qualify For AFCON 2015. by rhames(m): 6:59pm On Oct 12, 2014
I think the NFF or whatever they refer to themselves should not rely on arithmetics and algebra to qualify for the nations cup. They should focus on building a very cohesive and disciplined team or teams with not just the best and the most committed players but with those who are willing to pour their best at anytime for our great country. Much should be learnt from the coaches who led Nigeria from 1989 to 1996 who never tolerated indiscipline from any ego bloated player but fielded the best and commited on merit not names. The major focus now is to start building a team for the next world cup in Russia in 2018 and the AFCON in 2017. A great team takes years to build. The NFF , NRA and Coaches association should also organises courses or send their members to refresher courses as done from the 70's through the 90's. Wishing the eagles the best of luck. cheesy
Romance › Re: Reasons Why You Should Date A Shy And Introvert Guy. by rhames(m): 4:48pm On Oct 12, 2014
being an introvert comes with a very great burden too. you miss certain opportunities that the outgoing and extrovert gets pretty easy and fast. the smartest and most fierce dog and not the patient eats the fattest bone these days. you cannot approach the beautiful broad for fear of what she might say to you. its tough living your life in a cocoon. its like self imprisonment. however introverts are very sound conversationalists with high sense of reasoning. they read good books and watch movies ( not Africa Magic) which is their source of strength. they are also highly intelligent and lean more on the intellectual side.

Gboliwe:
I owe you one! You are a smart Nigerian.
But you misbehave small, why would you waste time energy and costly fuel to go to the border na? The moment you heard/read Badagry, you should have just concluded it was scam. The fact that Badagry is a bordering town make them (scammers) believe its too far for some lagosians and that's why they are able to scam.

Thanks for sharing

Lest I forget, next time you suspect any OLX advert, just tell the person you live in Badagry. He would be thrown off balance and may be stupid to name a location nearer you in actual fact.
that's good thinking broda

tinkinjow: There's truth in that story carried by thisday. The US knows how to cover their tracks well so you can never beat them especially in matters of this nature. Very soon you may likely hear the Israelis towing the same lines and those who don't understand these games will foolishly laugh at our military.
One thing is clear, America wanted a situation Nigeria will virtually beg them for assistance or outright intervention in this war. But just like Nigeria continue to surpass their expectations, that isn't happening

Thank God. This is the only comment that has hit the nail on the head. The same US called Nigerian Army names because of BH some weeks ago and also blocked trade with Israelis. Well, the only advise I have for our leaders now is to revive the Defence Industries Corporation and its subsidiaries so that it can produce all sort of arms and ammunition for our Armed Forces.
Education › Re: Oyedepo Defends Fees Charged By Private Universities by rhames(m): 7:58pm On Sep 21, 2014
nora544: When i read this, this remember me what i read on the website of madonna University from Nigeruia it is also a private University, i know it is a catholic UNiversity and they wrote that students who want to study there should apply also when they didnot have the money for the school fees gecause they have ways to help them and that this University is open to all students from every religion.

This you will never read at this University from this new churches.
The real motive for setting up these Churches which I prefer to calll businesses is precisely for the worship Mammon and not God. May God continue to help the poor people of Nigeria.

Education › Re: Oyedepo Defends Fees Charged By Private Universities by rhames(m): 5:26pm On Sep 21, 2014
That is to give credence to the fact that these are not churches but businesses. When these guys were growing their businesses, it was the very poor men who carried the blocks that built the foundation of these churches in the name of God. Now that these businesses have grown, the owners' ego has been inflated by money such that their congregation forgot to ask whats in it for me. By the way, do these pastors pay tithes and if so to whom? How many poor people's kid do they sponsor to their schools every year? How much is the value of their scholarships? Finally when they die, who takes over the reins of the businesses?

" If so are the priests, God Bless the congregation". A middle Eastern saying goes.

stam101: Africa is a continent that stands at such a crossroads when it comes to its wealth. On one hand, the continent is so lush with natural resources that industries that utilize them are extremely profitable, while on the other hand exploitive labour sometimes tarnishes these resources. Furthermore, while the continent fights to make headway in the technology sectors in an attempt to catch up with the west, it also sees itself mired in civil war after civil war, effectively tearing countries apart in the process. So, as always it seems, Africa is a continent of disparate parts, sometimes moving in unison, other times creating a dichotomy that may not be so easy to overcome. That is not to say that the financial outlook in Africa is altogether bleak however, as there are at least ten men who top the billion dollar net worth list on the continent. For the first time, Africa has a female billionaire, Isabel Dos Santos, daughter to Angolan President Jose Eduardo Dos Santos, proving that at least in some small way Africa has made some headway on woman’s freedoms as well. While she doesn’t have a place on this list, as those spots are reserved for men, it does show that Africa is catching up, however gradually to the west, at least financially, which is the way all parties involved would undoubtedly most prefer it.
