I am not so surprised that some men still go after poverty stricken girls in this day and age.One advice i have for them is go out with girls who are working and comfortable without them taking nothing in return except your attention. They will appreciate you better. grin

Politics › Re: Open Letter To Jonathan: Asari Dokubo Replies Obasanjo by rhames(m): 8:42pm On Jan 03, 2014
geeez: Is this a response to OBJ's letter or an attempt to settle a score?

But how can Asari say OBJ impoverished the ND?

He increased derivation to 13% and has remained so ever since

He created the NDDC and Ministry of the Niger Delta and no other institution or parastatal has been formed with respect to the ND after that

I'm sure we've not heard the last of this
The biggest problem of these Niger Delta people is their own leaders.

zebra: Varsity curriculum and poly curriculum are not the same, should not be the same, are not meant to be the same, and can never be the same. The 2 schools serve different purposes. If the curricula are the same it means a poly and a varsity are the same and should follow the same path. They are not the same pls. The certificates are equivalent according to WES.
Why do people lie brazenly? The curriculum are the same! The problem with HND qualification is the discrimination it suffered during the era of General Gowon whose junta decided that HND is lower in quality than the B. Sc and as a result HND holders have been openly discriminated against in our dear country. I am a lecturer and I know and have a copy of the curriculum.

Nigeria is the greatest African country and will remain so forever. Our people are industrious, ingenious and extra ordinary when it comes to expressing ourselves. The economic power of most south African countries are in the hands of the whites right from time. And notice that blacks in the COSAFA region earn less and that was why President Mugabe embarked of those rabid reforms of his. That cannot happen in SA coz of the interest of the world powers (US and its allies). This is also a message for those who are not proud of carrying the green passport. I AM PROUD TO BE A NIGERIAN.

Family › Re: Help! Is My Husband Marrying A Second Wife? by rhames(m): 7:15pm On Dec 21, 2013
To all non- Africans who are getting married to or are about to get married to Africans. I am of the opinion that you should study your husbands culture before saying I do. An African will always be an African, irrespective of his position in society or economic status. We take our culture more seriously than religion. And in some cases, most people use religion as excuse for wayward behavior. An African man can decide to take a second or third or even a fourth wife. If their is family influence in your marriage which is sacrosanct in African culture, you cannot escape its consequences.

To you my dear, please take heart and discuss the issues of your marriage with your husband. He might be afraid of losing custody of the child but summon every bit of courage to discuss this with him if you actually love him. In your own case, it is clear he married you to have a residence visa and stop gap for his sexual urges.

To all men of African origin who are not married. Always educate your would-be first wife about your intentions before you start a wedding proposal to another woman.

Travel › Re: Why Should Someone Sell Their Properties To Travel Abroad by rhames(m): 2:50pm On Dec 15, 2013
Mr Knowitall: Most Nigerians sell their properties to travel abroad because the rate of returns for their time, effort, investment,

education etc... is much better abroad.

Also, there are other factors you have to add to the equation: security, emergency service, stability, etc...

For example, lets say that your friends car was worth $8,000, his house was worth $80,000, and his boutique was

worth $10,000. Now lets assume your friend's boutique was bringing in about $16,000 a year, and he spent about

$15,000 to come to the United States. So your friend had a minimum of $98,000 minus the $15,000 he spent on

coming to the United States, so the moment your friend lands in the U.S he has $83,000 to invest in his future.

Because your friend was making $16,000 a year in Nigeria from his boutique, every year he Spense in the U.S,

he would have to make at least that much to at least justify why he left Nigeria. But since he had $83,000 cash

on hand, you will have to divide the $83,000 by $16,000 he was making yearly in Nigeria so this gives him a 5

year head start. Every dollar your friend makes in those five year is a surplus. If anytime within those five

years your friend gets a four year degree or some kind of technical training and starts making $44,000 a year,

your friend would be consider a brilliant investor. In fact, he could even go back to Nigeria an use his degree

to work and make more money than he would had made running the boutique. There are more variables to

the equation but this is just a break down i guess.
Did you factor in the Tax rate? Did you factor your rents which is weekly plus gas tax? Did you factor in the fact that there are Euaropeans or Americans who are out of job like everwhere else? Did you factor in the fact that other nationalities outside the aforementioned are also leaving their countries in droves for the same reason? Did he also considered that the UK immigration laws that was cancelled was actually targeted at Nigerians?

One thing I discovered about people like these in Nigeria is that they don't like to start small. They want to be rich overnight. Maybe the are not aware that even citizens of those countries don't like immigrants taking their jobs and that gave rise to extremist right wing racist groups in the Europe and America.

I cannot take the risk of selling my property to go abroad ins search of greener pastures. Its just not worth it. Good luck to those who do that.
