SamuelAnyawu:If you look at things, these days in the country, everyone wants peace.... But trust me, our politicians are the ones encouraging the violence going on. They never take any seriousness is addressing national issue. |
JOSCOFELIX:I don't knw if you are in the military or any armed forces, I don't knw if you are an investigative journalist. But if the warning you have here actually come to pass and our military suffers casualty, then shame be unto them. I will believe what the Economist wrote that NA is useless. If an Intel like this is flying around and our military didn't out measures to stop the attack or ambush them, then its of no use fighting this war. |
Blaeizyt:Plz where are you guys trading this sandhi. |
Just imagine the amount of weapons in the hands of ordinary civilians.... Just like the Taliban, see how Hezbollah is arming civilian and using then to cause chaos. If Hezbollah feel the judge is biased, they should have gotten their our lawyer to represent them na, why cause violence. Who knows what our own Shia members over here have in mind. They are probably peaceful cos their population is still negligible. |
Lamasta:On top 2-0 b say we dey vex. |
Watching from ONEHD... See as screen clear... Why naija no go fit upgrade NTA. |
NgHotGirls:Plz I sent you a PM |
This country sef... Make una no try this strike abeg. |
Something is really wrong somewhere... See how swift the vigilante group were arrested. From all I knw, these vigilante known as YanSakai are the defence set up by the local people to curtail the issue of banditry and kidnapping. They have their presence in Katsina, Zamfara and Sokoto. Now the police are swift to arrest them. But bandits will strike all night long and kidnapp scores of people yet they can't be followed and arrested. |
JOSCOFELIX:A lot of us dey willing to join. Make Una make the application open for all. |
Bandits held victims in our soil and be making noise up and down... Yet security can't fish them out. Come to think of it, some students of Baptist high school where just released. This is like 4 months after their kidnap. We still have students of birnin yauri Kebbi state still in captivity for more than months. Not to mention the other individual victims. Yet our security forces can't track these massive movement of people. But on daily basis inside villages in SE & SS, our soldiers are there forming commando. Yes I knw that north is vast and a large area are not covered, but if the same energy used in tackling the issue on south is applied in the north, this banditry won't go this far. All those bandits are careless and move in swarm, wch makes them an easy target and the bulk majority of them are children who can easily be broken to get information. Tomorrow someone will open his mouth and say that govt aren't behind these bandits. |
tutudesz:Lol... 30years cognate experience. But see the issue with our security. You make a high profile arrest then you are announcing it. That means those who have connections to this guy over the course of 30 years will now be on the run. |
Whyem15:Good works by the security. |
EricBraven:Let him point to us and show us where a xtian man of God, irrespective of what he does preached for violence or unconditional attack on anyone. Then I will show him more than ten instance where a Nigerian Muslim scholar have preached violence and called for revenge on innocent people. I am not exonerating the fact that we have some pastors who are rogues, but it's not to the extent of calling for violence against another religion or set of people. And the fact that some of these people hear knw the problem, but choose not to condemn also contributes to the insecurity in this country xosythe criminals will leverage in that protection to commit crime. |
Oasis001:Guy am sure you are getting our points but mayb you just choose to drag issue. All of us knows why the issue of ESN came up in the first place, why was amotekun created. All these local outfit are getting the support of the people cos the people feel that they are protecting them. I bet you, just give it a time, if unknown gunmen continue this carnage in the east, the people will start revolting. Have you not seen the headline where Ohaneze have asked ESN to fish out the bad eggs among them. Have you not seen right now in the front page where a religious leader from the east have asked unknown gunmen to sieze fire. Just be watching, as time goes in, the condemnation will start coming from the east if the attack continues. Compare that will the leaders of the north. It is on record even here on nairaland how arewa consultative forum and the likes have asked the govt to deal decisively with the gunmen in the east despite the fact that what the unknown gunmen have done since they started is not even up to 1% of what bandits will do in a week in North West, yet ACF won't ask govt to go after them. Even the president himself will speak hell towards ipod but won't do same against bandits. The president said he will speak to gunmen in language they understand, but to bandits he was telling Katsina people that the attack from Bandits is due to retaliation. Just last week, in Sokoto, more than 12 soldiers were killed by bandits, we didn't hear anything from leaders of that region. But wait let something like that happen else where. It's very obvious to anyone, Muslims esp those from the not try to protect one another irrespective of the crime the person commits and this is what fuel insecurity because the criminals among them will always leverage on the protection to commit crime. |
GeneralFarouq:Kindly point out on this thread where anyone castigated or insulted Muslims. We are all discussing about insecurity and making analysis on how some religious activities and the inability of its leaders/members to condemn those activities fuel insecurity in Nigeria. How is that castigation or insult. |
NafeesaAA:It's a different thing to gather people and form a cult in the name of religion and behave in any way you like, than to gather people and form a group whose sole aim is to go out and kill people in the name of religion. Last week, am sure you said when Ohaneze was saying to ESN to fish out the gunmen killing people. Now let me give you this scenario. Last Dec when bishop Kukah made a comment that affected the Muslims, virtually all the "Muslim heavy voice" speakers attack Kukah. Also, when some Muslim travelers were killed in Jos, there were same condemnation and threat of retaliation from almost same voices. Have those same voices spoken out when the terrorists kills people. Am in Kano, the pastor that was killed by mobs, what have those voices said. The woman who was beheaded in kofar wambai just for saying to a Muslim not to do ablution in front of her shop, did those voices say anything. How abt the redeemed Pastoress that was killed in abj, where were the voices? Instances like this are what make people think otherwise about Muslims in Nigeria especially up north. Another example is muric... Let me not even go that side. |
Even unborn babies knows that Buhari has failed Nigerians. |
EricBraven:There are still some small small attacks. Abt two weeks ago just before olam, there was an attempted kidnap with casualty. |
QuietMynd:That is the issue... It's not like akintola is the head of Muslim in SW, but virtually all statements that concern Muslims comes from him. Even when he spews trash, other Yoruba Muslims won't even counter him. Remember, here on nairaland, members always complain of Muslims keeping quite when the bad ones do or speak wrong. That's the issue. |
QuietMynd:First of all, I said "most Muslims" Secondly, with the likes of ishaq akintola been the face of Muslims in the west, then there is no difference. |
Of a truth... They sell. Cos I have a friend that paid about 2.5 for the last immigration intake and he made into the inspector cadre. But what I don't really know is that if assuming he didn't make the payment, would he still get the job by merit, cos there is every tendency the person he gave money didn't even do anything for him. Also, those who gather up to 3m just to buy a slot, can't the person just start business. |
SamuelAnyawu:Don't mind the yeye man. Sometimes these guys action makes me want to be believe the general stereotype on nairaland that most Muslims are sympathetic to terrorism commited by their fellow Muslims. |
Xbee007:Put the blame on can and Catholic bishop conference. Every church have a youth wing and nothing stops CAN or catholic bishop conference from empowering the youth to defend their land. If the youth in the area aren't enough, more can be gotten from neighbouring communities. The Christians in Nigeria are not holier than the Pope and Christians of old who declared and fought crusade in other to rescue Christian countries from Islamic rules. |
Saw a news about attack on a military formation in Sokoto.... Is it for real. |
Tobiloba24072:If I may ask, why wasn't such level of offensive attack sustained after Jonathan regime. Or does regime change comes with change of weapons, tactics and theater commanders too ? |
Fynline:Well .. it's just to reduce the casualty and lose of weaponry during ambush. The last two ambush I heard of, the army suffered 15-20 fatalities, which goes to show that the vehicles conveying the soldiers were more than 1. Though I knw there are other bigger vehicles too. If the distance between them were properly spaced, am sure iswap will need a bigger force to attack them simultaneously. At least with the space, the other vehicles not under attack can either escape from the ambush or properly prepare to help those under attack. Year in year out, we have been hearing of multiple number of soldiers dying as a result of ambushes. We are no longer talking about tactical advantage to repel the ambush, but how to minimize the loss of life and weapons. If there are 5 vehicles in a convoy and 3 were taking out in an ambush due to proper spacing, it's better than having all 5 taking out as a result of the convoy been together. |
Odunayaw:Oya drop your own informed opinions let's hear. |
GeneralFarouq:Let's even forget about sending foot soldiers ahead. If the convoy is like 3-4 Hilux, then they shld be like 3 or even 4 kilometres apart. That way, the ambushes can't catch all the vehicles, given the once at the back or at the front ample time to organise and respond. Except if our army are foolish enough to be sending out soldiers in patrol with just one Hilux. |
Whyem15:So there is no way the army would be moving in armoured vehicles. |
Valkrie:It's very sickening hearing of ambushes and death of soldiers day in day out. Life lost expensive weapons stolen. Can't the senior officers come together and map out strategy to avoid further ambushes that will cause high fatality on the side of soldiers. It's too much and people are just dieing any how. Just within two weeks, two ambushes with fatalities amounting to more than twenty.... That's twenty families out into pains. |
