Forget that and stop trying to play defense game here.... People who are leaving a particular place to another know what they saw there and have a reason for going. Most people leaving Naija aren't probably leaving cos of insecurity, it more of economic reason. So based on this thread, your statement lacks credibility.

How can you say people should be contempt with insecurity and violence. Go and tell the Middle Easterners to stay back in their country and be contempt with the violence going on their.

Go to all the IDPs across Nigeria and tell those people living there to go back to their community and be contemptwith the violence going on.


Fact is, it doesn't make any sense for you to make such a statement.

Bartimaeus was not only blind. He was a beggar. As a blind man he lost his sight, as a beggar he lost his dignity. Bartimaeus represents us in our sinful condition. We are blind in our sins, our sins deprives us of our dignity as children of God. Jesus restored the sight and the dignity of Bartimaeus. He does the same thing to us. When he forgives us our sins, he restores our sight so that we can see God as a God who is love. He raises us once again to the dignity of God’s children.

We pray for the grace to recognize the fact that we have sinned... And we also pray for the grace to shout at the top of our voice "Lord Jesus, have mercy on me"

We see the patience of our Lord in today’s Gospel. The owner of the fig tree wanted his vinedresser to uproot the unfruitful fig tree. But he vinedresser pleaded to leave it standing for one more year. Every breath, every moment, every day added to our span is a gift from the Lord who, in his patience, gives us an opportunity to become better, an opportunity to be repentant. Let us use the days and years given to us to bear fruits of charity.

We pray that we will learn to appreciate everyday of our lives anduse it to make a positive impact in the life of someone.

We need the eyes of faith to see the hand of God in the events of our lives. God is not folding His arms and looking at us. In the pleasant and unpleasant experiences we go through in life, God is with us.

At a time where most Nations are battling one crisis or another, we pray for the presence of God in our lives.

“Do you suppose that I am here to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division.” Jesus has not come to give us facile peace but peace that flows from living according to his Gospel. Yet, fidelity to the Gospel can brings dissension. The Gospel of Christ does not allow us to be neutral. We are either faithful. But fidelity to the Gospel may bring us rejection, even violent rejection. Even members of one’s family may deprive him of peace for being Christian. There will be division between those who believe the Gospel and those who do not believe. When that happens, may we find peace in fidelity.

May God give us the grace to be able to persevere in the face of persecution. And we pray for all those who are in crisis area, esp those who were affected cos of their faith. May God console and protect. Amen.

Pope St John Paul II referred everything to God. And that enabled him to teach us what the Gospel is teaching us today, namely that the human person is greater than what he possesses or desires to possess, greater than what he produces or what he consumes, because he has been created in the image and likeness of God. The human person is not a thing to be manipulated out a being to be related with. Pope St John Paul II teaches us that the destiny of the human person is not in earthly satisfaction. That explains the teaching of Christ in today’s Gospel that it is futile to store up treasure for oneself instead of becoming rich in the sight of God.

“Take no purse with you, no haversack, no sandals.” On this feast of St Luke the Evangelist, the instructions given to the 72 by Jesus, speak to us about what preachers of the Gospel must let go. By virtue of our baptism, each of us is an evangelist. We do not all have access to the pulpit. But our evangelizing mission is carried out by witnessing. We are true evangelists if we make the values of the Gospel present wherever we find ourselves. But first, we must allow the seed of the Gospel to be sowed and nurtured in our own hearts.

Reflection taken from today's Gospel

Dissension is a consequence of enslavement by the senses. St Paul admonishes the Galatians, and indeed all of us, to allow the Spirit to guide us so that we do not become enslaved by our senses. St Ignatius of Antioch, whose memorial the church celebrates today, wrote about the need for harmony in the Church. Division comes when we do not live according to the Gospel but according to our preferences. This is true in the Church and in society. A place where individuals absolutize their preferences over and above the preferences of others is undergoing a civil war. But harmony is found in the city when there is harmony in the souls of its inhabitants, that is, when they allow the Spirit to liberate them from enslavement to the senses.
