My memory of GCL, an all-boys school, is filled with nostalgia. The school was a great citadel of learning, with much things to be proud of. Learning and extracurricular activities were of good standards. I could still remember how we, the JSS 1 students, feared our Head Boy (Senior Olaolu AKA Senior Almighty) as though he was a god. He was the Head Boy in 1999/2000, I think. Nwobodo Francis, an SS 2 student, was the Time Keeper.
The junior students, especially my classmates, held our senior prefects with high reverence. Many of them flogged the junior students for a living.

The teachers made learning unforgettable and to most of the students, the experience was worthwhile. I could still remember a few of the several teachers though...

Mr. Aromire AKA Fako, was the strict Mathematics teacher we could not stop loving.

Mr. Afolabi was the Principal that was hardly seen in Public.

Mrs. Alaja Brown was the talkative English teacher.

Mr. XXXXX (I cannot recall his name at the moment) was the Physical Education teacher who never failed students in tests and examinations.

Mr. Benson was the tribalistic English teacher.

Mr. Faleti was the ever-serious Physics teacher that never separated himself from his long cane. Anytime I see dat man, I don pick race o!

Mrs. Eze was the motherly Home Economics teacher. She would spend 70% of her teaching time to advise her students. We were like her children.

Mrs Okeowo was the always-smiling woman who taught us Physics. She was smiling, even when teaching, performing practicals, flogging, eating, sleeping etc.

Mr. Oresanya was our Chemistry teacher. He's the most wicked teacher to ever walk the Earth. Mr. Oresanya na wicked man. Mr. Oresanya too wicked.

There was a cordial relationship between the students and some of the teachers. Student life was an awesome experience. I could write a million-page book on what life was like in GCL 2000-2006.
