Toks2008: Won't work?
But I just stated the possibility of money bags helping and you dont need any political structure to make the electorates vote for you.
We are not talking about primates.
The money here will be for mobilization. Of agents and not bribing electorates so what do they need billions for? It won't work, I echo what my esteemed colleague mentioned. People are hungry, have no jobs - they will vote for anyone who pays them. You need money to mobilize people - And what's stopping tinubu and others who can spend without a limit from buying the people's votes. |

derecho: I agree with you.Just that it's difficult to weed out the thieves when the bar is so low. I think reducing the rewards would reduce the lust of political power. I know Power Corrupts and absolute power corrupts but until the Presidency is seen as a means to serve people and not to enrich then the mindset continues. I love something which is done abroad. - You must declare your assets before contesting for the presidency or any position of power. And the assets must not grow exponentially during the course of your presidency nor of those of your family members. The problem is that the legislature arm of the government - wont write the laws necessary for this to happen. |

We can go on and on and slander this man, but I find no fault in him.
How people see people like Prof Osinbajo and Tunde Bakare with oration, energy, clarity of purpose and some degree and of upstanding and cast their votes for some others beat me.
If we were any wiser, we wouldn't be where we are. True. We are not in a theocracy system but a democracy system - Plus its the elected delegates who nominate these candidates. |

derecho: What about making their choice first, then the winner shows appreciation? And we say the system isn't rigged. We copied the most terrible parts of the American election system . delegates and then we corrupted it buy buying/selling delegate votes. No wonder bribing is vibrant in all facets of the country from the Lagos Airport to the President's palace. So tell me if Tinubu/Atiku Spent 100Million on Form Spent $50,000 per delegate (1000) $50Million naira = convert to Naira. Is he father Christmas and won't recoup his losses ? or Award contracts to those who donated huge sums of money to his campaign. If we truly want this to work. Limit contributions per person to N10,000. corporations to N1M. Delegates = nothing. |

RoyalDiadems: The truth is that it is very difficult for a righteous man to ascend the seat of power in this country. Since corrupt delegates must receive money from corrupt candidates before we can have presidential flag bearers for the prominent political parties.
Honestly, I've not seen how Nigeria can be better. This is a country where wicked and corrupt people have the upper hand over good people. Its a statement of fact since 1985 - Andrew don't check out o. Nigeria go better. After all these years- It's still hasn't reached rock bottom. Its a miracle |

WatchYourSix: How does somebody become a professor without a doctorate....?? Yemi's certificate is not looking complete...from msc law ..next thing professor of law
Someone should enlighten me?? You are correct Professor Yemi does not have a Ph D. According to the qualifications to be called a Professor . It can either be attained by a doctorate degree in which you are either called a Dr or Prof . Or by school Policy which in this case Unilag conferred on him . " From 1997 to 1999 he was made professor of law and head of Department of Public Law, University of Lagos. So this was negotiated upon his employment, very likely he started off as associate professor and then a full pro in 1999. |

UpInTheSky: The adopted son IS the first son.
Your Uncle's brothers and biological son's opinions that he's not family and is an outcast is quite pathetic. Shame on them. Nigerians should understand that when you adopt a child, he or she becomes your child. Neither biology nor blood defines family. That said, the adopted son himself is a greedy fool for "sealing off their and claiming ownership of the 3 rental buildings in the town". His own actions speak volume about his own character and even if he weren't an adopted child he would've behaved in the same manner.
Hence, all of them are madd. I think there is more to the story than him "sealing off and claiming ownership of the 3 rental buildings" . I don't think we can understand the pressure the first child has been under knowing that even though he has every right as the others he's been seen as an illegitimate. There is no way, the dude would claim all the property for himself. It doesn't just add up. |

cococandy: Same here.
That still doesn’t make him any less of the man’s son. Condemn his character and his behavior but don’t question his legitimacy. He’s still the man’s first son.
And as such he should have exhibited good leadership by ensuring peaceful and equitable allocation of resources since their dad failed to do so before his death. That’s all. Perfectly said - He is legitimately, the man's son and first child. The mere fact that the OP has brought up adoption means that child has been viewed as inferior and illegitimate. |

Shoodboi: An adopted child has all the rights of a biological child. Your uncle and aunt are his parents and cannot under any circumstances reject him. The same applies to your family too.
The son is family and he will easily win you in a court of law. Share your uncle's inheritance equally among all his children including the adopted child. Exactly ! He's 100% every right as the others. |
Family › Re: Adopted Son Or Biological Son: Who Gets One's Inheritance? by rickleye: 8:07pm On Jun 06, 2022 |
An adopted child has every right as a biological son. That is what your uncle signed up for when he went to get him. I will bestow upon you the rights of a son and I will inherit the responsibility of a father. When your uncle went to adopt him. Your uncle named the child and gave him his last name. The only difference is one is begotten and one is not. It is the Nigeria Factor that makes an Issue. Your uncle so believed that this would not be an Issue that he did not create a will. In hindsight , he should. And all who read this should create a will. |

Cc: marriage clinic Before you ban me, I'll say my 2 cents If you think he is not getting his pencil sharpened outside with someone else then you are grossly mistaken. For a man to have a choice between sex and a quick bath and say no to sex with his wife , he either no longer sees you appealing enough or he's getting it done outside with someone else. 2 wrongs don't make a right. You ain't getting sex and he ain't getting sex ( let's assume he isn't) who wins ! Lure him to the bathroom and have him grab your breasts and then dip him in warm water. |

Cleo18: Hello, a fresh graduate just relocated to Lagos in search for job and doesn't have a place of his own for now but squatting with some friends. It seems he's not that comfortable.
He saved some money from his previous job in Enugu before relocating to Lagos in search of a better job.
Presently, he's thinking of enrolling in a cyber security training and ethical hacking tracking with his savings.
Should he get an apartment first before he gets a job or he waits until he gets a job before he rents an apartment? For now, he's squatting with some people and not really comfortable.
What do you suggest please? In my book after a month, you become a nuisance if you are not assisting with rent or foodstuffs. So not really comfortable is a vague description. You are NOT supposed to be comfortable till you get your own place. So If I were in your shoes, I would contribute to the foodstuff while I seek out the cheapest accommodation I can find. It is only with a clear head that you apply for a job , perform at your best and exhume confidence that your employers may want. |

Romance › Re: Please Help! Should I Attend The Wedding Or Not? by rickleye: 12:46pm On Jun 02, 2022 |
IamDora: Dear Nairalanders, Good evening to you all. I'm in a state of delima right now and I'm so confused on what to do that's why I decided to bring the issue here.
I have a Cousin, he's wealthy and we used to be very close to each other, we do alot of things and talking together. Even when we do meet at Villa during festive periods, we are always together 24/7 that people do think I'm the one eating his money. (If cousins were to marry each other, we would've married ourselves)
So fast forward to 2020, things began to take a new turn, he began to change towards me completely, he hardly picks my calls, neither does he reach out to me thereafter to know why I called (Mind you, I'm not a leech to him, as my family were very comfortable too) When I lost my mom (May her soul rest in peace) this my said cousin never called me to sympathize with me, and I didn't hold it against him either. He started giving me space, I tried everything possible to know why the sudden space from him, but to no avail. So I kept my cool and distanced myself from him.
So fast forward to this 2022, his fiancee (Whom I knew her from him) called me on the 20th of last month to tell me that their wedding is on the 18th of this month and she would so much like me to be in attendance! My cousin never bothered informing me about it even till now!
Now my question is,' Should I honour the said invitation by his Fiancee and attend their wedding or I should stay back and call her to wish her Happy Married Life after their Wedding?
Please help me push this to front page so I'll get a wider audience to share their opinions.
Thank you. If someone who is family isn’t inviting you to his wedding. Then just give the fiancée an excuse and skip the event. Why go and fake a smile, put on clothes and waste 5/6 hours. Save your time, money and reputation. |
