It is not the Issue . There are jobs, well more unskilled than skilled jobs , the unemployment rate is going down. There is no way to sincerely communicate that it is not easy to replicate the lifestyle in Nigeria over there. Things work but cost money. You pay taxes as high as 30%. You have to make sure that you save money for the rainy day for your Old age .
You also need to have a hustling spirit. So they would not help you, lest you say " Why didn't you tell me things are this hard ' ? however, if by your sweat you happen to cross over - good for you. They will open up and be chummy to a degree.
We all have or know of friends who have relatives who could easily sponsor them, they have refused to move over. They send their wives & Kids abroad yet work and " flex " in Nigeria. There are many things you can get away with being black in Nigeria than elsewhere.
Plus they dont want you to be a burden on them. My 2 cents

Ill be honest ... Guys do not mind being single till 40. So the pressure is on you.
if I could talk to him, It would be for him to let you know if you are the one or if he has found someone else and therefore not string you along.
He should do that math . if you get pregnant at 30 and he is 37 meaning that he is raising a child for at least 18 years into his mid 50's or later depending on how many you both plan to have. Now, kids have different Issues at various ages but I would want to have my kids at an early age so i can match their energy and travel together with you cause when kids come - they are selfish and demand attention .

See if you can give him a breather on the marriage for a while. Talk about your future together - where you would like to visit together as partners and ask him how he wants to make it happen. I am sure you have spoken about how many kids , their names , etc etc. However, you have to give yourself a time frame. if within a certain time frame nothing is happening then close the case and move on.

You will have to be coy on the way you handle this. He may be influenced by a lot of things he’s read about marriage being a scam etc or he may not yet be ready for the big M yet.

If you love someone and want to be with them and the issue of marriage comes up isn’t travelling automatic? I mean he’s there and you are here. Aren’t you travelling to meet up with him.
Now, for the fact that he is mentioning “ you want to use him for travelling “ appears to me that your conversation or relationship was not defined from the start and then evolved to something and now you have assumed it to be at that level when he hasn’t ( yet) .
Some personal questions
- when last did you see him ?
- did you guys date before he left the country ?
- has he been back home to see his family etc?
- has he sent you things or money ?
- frequency of your video calls ?
- were you introduced or met any family members.

I won’t lie as someone who’s been abroad, he very likely has a gf there but may prefer someone who is more homely and cultured ( maybe you) the issue here is that the tables have turned and now he thinks you see him as a way out of the country than wanting a committed relationship.

My advise would be for you to have a no holds barrel conversation with him.

I have 2 personal stories but I’ll share one.
I have a Cuz who studied at OAU ( he didn’t finish ) left for Canada. He dated but always had in the back of his mind he wants to marry 9ja. So he asked someone in the family to find someone. They were introduced by phone and they talked almost every day ( frequency) . She met my uncle + aunt ( family knew about her )
and he came home every year to see her ( commitment, when last did you see him) when they were apart.
They are now together inCanada , have 4 kids and the rest is history.

I guess what I am saying is as painful as it is. You have to cut him lose if he is not pursuing the relationship as you are. Put him in the friend zone . He should be the one to drive the relationship status because he could submit the papers for you guys to get married etc etc.
