Beautyaddy: Yes, this is true because in Nigeria:
-They pay little to no taxes. -There is so much loop-holes due to Corruption to make fast money. - There are no enforced laws in Nigeria to abide to. - The cost of living in Nigeria is very, very cheap. - Very bad to no maintenance culture with infrastructures. - Nigerians are very content people living in mediocre ways of life. Bro...amazon is paying zero dollars in taxes this year even after making millions in profit. There might be more corruption in America and Canada than in Nigeria. But while Nigerians are living in poverty, north Americans are living on credit. The Ontario premier just sacked a police general today for speaking out about corruption in the government and how the premier appoints his friends for Government position, spends public money on customized Van's https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbc.ca/amp/1.5041873Trump is still facing corruption and fraud investigations. Loblaw company in canada is in court for dumping millions in the Caribbean to avoid tax. |

Jamestown123: Hahaha and someone begins to wonder why Nigeria is the headquater of poverty. At this stage in life naija is still doing blame game even blaming someone that ruled in 1970. But come to think of it why haven't we solved our electricity problem till now. Road na case study hospitals na another case. Many smart Nigerians are raking in millions in Nigeria with the knowledge, capital and experience they got from western countries. The likes of Adenuga, davido, dele alli's dad etc realised that Africans are meant for Africa. Kemi Adeosun was born in the uk, do you think she would get an opportunity as a finance minister in Britain ? |

I know you're going to argue back and forth but shows us the evidence of what western country will prefer the feed a homeless dog over a homeless human being? I have seen a white girl spend $12k on surgery for her dog and the same girl will never donate or give to the homeless. Oyibo care about their dog more than anything. Infact most dogs abroad have a better standard of living than most Nigerians |

Jamestown123: Chairman sorry to interrupt u, but whats ur main point on argueing in this matter now? Are u trying to compare Nigeria to Canada or what? Na question oo no vex. Canada is miles and years better than Nigeria..but Canada has it's own issues. Coming from Nigeria, you might be overwhelmed by the uninterrupted power and othe amenities. But after a few years in canada, when u stop tripping about those things, you find out that the system is a rat race. You have a way better chance being a millionaire in Nigeria than in Canada |

maternal: I know you're trolling, but I have some time today.
Car insurance- In a civilized society it's important to have insurance to pay out people if you hurt them or damage their property with your car.
Mortgage- A nice investment. Not only do you own the house after X amount of years, the value of your house also goes up. So in X amount of years you're a home owner, unlike an average man who'll be paying rent and die without owning property or passing it down to their children. In a civilized country it's important everyone has a chance to own property whether you can do it by cash, or signing on to a mortgage.
Sales Taxes- These taxes are used to fund public services like healthcare so we don't have to pay out of pocket. Unlike in naija, people abroad don't pay for these services twice.
Income tax- Is used to again pay for crucial services and infrastructure, and gives the government money to operate.
Property tax- This tax is used to fund schools nearby and emergency services like police and fire. It'd cost more if you paid for it privately out of pocket.
House insurance- It can be optional. But one gets a pay out if their house is burned down for example. Plus it's usually dirt cheap.
Employment insurance- If one loses their job, the gov't will pay them small salary for close to a year until they get back on their feet. So they don't need to beg.
I fail to see why you're mentioning these taxes ? You see once the mandatory taxes are paid, a person doesn't have to worry about anything. But unlike in naija, once a tax is paid, you still have to worry about school fees, neppa, etc. What don't you understand ? People in Canada only wait a significant time for elective services. If it's an emergency you'll get it right away. This American medical system you're bragging about is ranked 7 spots BELOW Canada's healthcare system. Why would people in Canada go to the U.S, pay out of pocket, for an inferior product ? Canadian elites rarely leave Canada for treatment. 1% of the population doesn't mean anything. It's funny you mentioned that, because a famous U.S politician who's extremely wealthy, an elites, and bashed Canada's medical system is actually travelling to Canada for surgery. The irony. I thought the system in the U.S was so great ? The Canadian medical system is not perfect, but I'd take a system ranked 30th in the world through taxes, over naija's ranked basically dead last in the world

Provinces are starting to make University free. In Ontario if you're low income, you can go to university for free. Though the current governor is trying to abolish that. Those who do take out loans, it can be paid in due time after they're done school. In life you have to pay for quality. Anyone can afford to attend those jaga jaga naija universities where your toto has more impact than your intelligence. Moreover after graduating from a naija university, which employer, especially abroad will take a naija degree serious ? lol abeg. I don't know every Canadian so I can't say who's in debt or not. As for the cars, financing is no big deal in an advanced economy where most make a good salary and get paid on time. Stop comparing a developing economy to an advanced one. Levels get levels again.
I have to go now. Kaachiifooo Why call me a troll ? can't you make your points without being petty? I'm just gonna address a few false claims Education University education is not free for anyone in Canada. Even the OSAP program in Ontario comes as loans and grants. the grant is a small percentage of the entire funding package, so you have to pay back almost everything. the new Government is about canceling the small grant that students don't have to pay back. if you don't understand what free education means, go study the German education model. Healthcare Health care in canada is not entirely free, you have to pay a deductible amount (depending on your insurance package) and your insurance covers the rest. If you have minor health issues, a great portion will be covered by insurance but if you have serious health issue, your own son finish. you will pay a higher deductible and also have to wait a long time before you see a specialist. That's why companies provide better insurance for their employees. Car I only pointed this out because of the guy that said an individual on 500k a month salary cannot afford a car. You also just confirmed that most canadians are buying car on loans but you said it's no big deal because its canada. The truth is majority of canadians are living on borrowed standards. everyone is in debt (including you maybe). Only the elites are killing it and enjoying life. You need crawl out of your fantasy bubble and stop living in denial. Canada runs on capitalism, middle class and low income earners live to pay taxes. Like you ones said "if you love money, Canada is not for you" take away credit facilities from canadians and everyone is broke. I'm using a very good iPhone, not because I'm rich but because I can take the phone on credit from network providers and pay in monthly installments. Ututuoma |

If after paying Car insurance Mortgage (for people that own a house) sales tax income tax property tax house insurance employment insurance etc and you still think Nigerians are taxed twice, then you really not saying the truth.
I know some provincial governments provide subsidies for people with children but life for canada no ne beans o. Canada is sweet o but all na packaging o. Canada has free healthcare but if you get serious ailment that require surgery or special attention, you fit die for waiting list..infact you might wait up to six months to see a specialist. infact elite canadians just go to America for urgent medical needs.
Education is free till high school, which is great but many middle class canadians cannot afford to sponsor their kids through college hence they take up student loans and depending on your course of study and job hunting strategy, u might not get a job after school.
Average Canadian is 21k in debt and most are living paycheck to paycheck infact some people in this forum might not have up to 30k in liquid cash or emergency fund.
Someone here said with 500k salary you might not be able to even buy a car after expenses, my sister/brother if you are the only one working in that family with more than two kids and a salary that is considered average..you will struggle anywhere in the world.
Talking about cars, how many canadians are driving brand new cars? out of the ones driving brand new cars, more than 70% are on dealerships/financing. most middle class canadians cannot pay for brand new cars upfront.
Naija ma shithole country for sure but canada is an entirely different challenge on its own. |

CookieLyon: Hi Guys, thanks for all this valuable info on this thread. I’m looking to move to Canada mid next year but I’m having difficulties deciding on which city to live in. Hubby is a pharmacist and I’m an accountant and one of my criteria for a city to live in would be where pharmaceutical head offices and finance firms are situated so hubby and I can have great career prospects. Toronto seems like the easy choice but it’s quite expensive and I’d prefer another city with the same criteria I’m looking for. I’m also looking for a city that’s warm. I really don’t like the cold and will like to avoid it as much as possible. Toronto city might be expensive but you can live anywhere in the GTA. You can live in brampton and work in Toronto or live in mississauga and work in north York. The whole Toronto area is just awesome. I school in Saskatchewan but I'm always in the GTA every holiday. And don't worry about cold you will get use to it. I get fever with Nigeria harmattan but after staying in Saskatchewan for winter, I don't even feel that cold in -15, me and my friends get excited if the weather never reach -20. |

Yankee101: Free service notice... 1. Don't take any Nigerian lady to the United States. 2. Naija men don suffer for naija women hand. 3. You train them, take them to school, take student loans for them and run credit card debts but they end up running away 4. They sometimes set naija men up by lying you hit them. 5. The court here respects children, women, old people and men come last. 6. She'll take your house, car(s) and alimony/child support (till kids become 18) 7. Naija women here instigate new comer naija women on how to clean you out. Especially the naija community in Texas. These women sleep around and leave you in debt 8. If you must bring a woman let her have as much money as yourself (or more). Ensure her assets are within US jurisdiction not in naija so that if she goes to court, worse case everybody go hold im money. Simple
Marry African girls like Kenyans. They will worship you. Naija women never, ever appreciate anything. A man does not mind taking care of his wife and all the bills for 10 years. But if a naija woman pays the bills for just 6months you don become lazy man.
There are exceptions. But because they are rare I no fit advice you to try am. Even if she claim say she born again no trust am. That's just her word.
Save yourself from had I known abeg.
If you fit marry white lady. She go clean you if una separate but she go contribute equally. So no lele.
The naija women here just dey dey wait for who to advice on how to clean their man....especially all these nurses. 1m likes for you. I think the worst mistake any naija guy will make abroad is to marry a Nigerian lady. I would rather have 20 babymama than marry a naija girl. Two of my friends are married to Zimbabwean girls, and happy with their relationships. I don't understand why naija girls are like this. Chai |

Chubhie: A senior friend of mine who domiciled his wife and kids in the States got a call from his wife that their daughter who is 14 is threatening to call 911 on her cos she banned her from visiting someone.
In this case, An African mother's hands are tied to discipline her daughter else the system would take the daughter away. At 14, you are not an adult and you are still dependent on your parents. They can ground you if need be. Nobody can do anything about it even the president. If you feel you too old for orders, you get a job and move out of the house. |

salford1: I am not sure what you meant by the present reality of the province though. I was told same before i moved to sask from alberta for work. I was even told by white folks originally from sask that it is not a place for black people, it is extremely cold, full of rednecks, it is highly racist due to the mostly white population being descendants of polish and germans lol, yet the growth I achieved in 1 year in sask, i dont think I achieved same in 3 - 4 years in less racist redneck Alberta .
My point is that irrespective of whatever report one hears about a place, it is always good to give it a good thought and also remember that circumstances may be different for people.
In addition, the French are very tolerant of others else montreal won't be one of the most culturally diverse city in Canada. Have you seen the line up of the french football team? I can't think of a more diverse football team in Europe.
But hey, what do I know. I do not live in Quebec neither have I been to the province. It would be nice to hear the opinions of those that actually live and work there. I |

Same day that I applied for the Job was the same day I was called for an interview, and it was same day that I was taken for the job. It a wonderful Job with BIG salary (x3 of my former Place of work salary). They pay per hour, lots of Bonuses, insurance and all that. Its an international NGO (Medicins Sans Frontieres - Doctors without Borders). I started work today 24th December.
I just give God all the Glory, and also admonish all that is somewhat jobless now - not to loose hope. The Lord that did it for me in the eleventh hour shall surely remember you, AMEN! sup bro, are they still recruiting? |
