Ok. The system is very much different from that of the US. I'd start mailing potential supervisors.

To be honest, funding is a necessity to me. My cgpa is a little above 4.5, I hope it'll do?
your cgpa should do, but i implore you to widen the radius of your net. Don't limit yourself to one or two schs. 4.5 might be high enough but to the likes of Toronto,McGill,UBC na still moi moi. Thats where ur SOP comes in to save you, depending on how strong you made it
I wish you well

Thanks so much for this. Do you think proposed supervisors would talk about funding without admission first? I'm also trying the US and I've mailed several proposed supervisors but most of them do not respond and if they do, they usually indirectly imply that funding and admission decisions are not in their hands and they refer you to the grad cord. The grad cord on the other hand can only tell you if your profile is competitive or not, he can't guarantee you either admission or funding until the application pool is examined first. I really hope canadian supervisors would be different
i have no idea how funding goes in the US, not even the slightest idea, but canada's case is different. Supervisors fully control who to grant RA (research assistantship)/TA afterall it is from their research grants they pay the students. But for external ones like departmental funding (in some cases) /faculty scholarship/external scholarships, these are beyond the scope of supervisors and they can only provide recommendation letters.
So yes, you can (and you are even encouraged to) discuss funding the moment a supervisor is interested in you working with him, even before you apply. So you'll know your funding status asides from other bonuses like entrance scholarship, international scholarship etc.

By the way, with this your concern for funding, i don't want to say this to discourage you but i really hope your cgpa is very very strong.

Hello house! I'm new on this thread. I want to find out if Canadian universities gives FULL funding in the form of GA/TA to Masters students or Masters students are considered mostly for PARTIAL funding just like in the US.
first of all, funding is not for course-based masters rather it is for thesis-based/research-based masters.
Funding in most cases depends on supervisors who determine who to grant RA/TA asides from scholarships from other sources. This is usually determined by your academic achievements.
If you want to be funded, speak to a supervisor first, if he accepts you then discuss funding with him, b4 u officially apply. Discuss with your supervisor early enough b4 funds get exhausted.
Those that do not get full funding, get partial funding. Some can get unlucky without funding at all.

I can't find my original birthcertificate. Is it safe to upload the scanned copy of the photocopied one to my application?
i don't really understand you bro. Even if you have your original, you'll still scan it and that makes it a "scanned copy" then you'll upload.
Perhaps you meant something else

I am 2X yrs. I have a BSc in microbiology (2:2)
If i am right, after a first degree you still want to go for another first degree in canada.

Pls look at it this way, if you are the V.O. can you ever approve this app? Isn't it obvious the guy isn't going to study, all he wants is just to enter the country and never leave.

Kindly have a rethink and come up with something that is worth wasting time upon planning for.
I see a 0.01% success rate with this current plan
But then, you can go ahead with it if you believe in miracles and you think you have a slot.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 11 by Riddeek: 3:15pm On Dec 26, 2016
UBC does not require sending original transcript till after admission. It is clearly stated on their grad studies website and should be on your department web page

And pls I am not a student there. I have not even applied yet

Yes indeed the documents aren't mine, but me and my siblings are bound to inherit it in the future, so can't I still use it for application purpose?
Guy all these "bound to inherit" talks na future tense, nothing concern V.O say you wan inherit something... Is it yours now? Yes or No
As simple as that.
But still add those properties just to increase no. of documents but know deep within yourself that those aren't yours according to the V.O
The V.O's father too has properties and they aren't his

The max you can do is to have your dad say something in his letter like those properties are just being maintained for you till you are through with your studies and you come back to settle here.

Please is there appication fee waiver for graduate student from Nigeria @university of Alberta?
No! Nigeria is not among the least developed 50 nations in the world according to the UN list.
Check Alberta website, the list is there.
Alberta's fee is 100CAD i guess.

Disclaimer: presently i am not a student there, not even an applicant... for now

lol, thanks bro for your comment, @ Osemigho actualy tot he was helping so I dont criticise him. Moreover if 2 refusal letters wasnt able to discurrage me I wonder who on earth can. just bcox my Dad doesn't have millions in his account dosn't mean I cann't get my TRV approved.
i love your spirit, but pls source for funds ooo, you have heard that 2 guys did not make it that way ooo amd even got deported, this is the time to remember that your daddy's friend's cousin's uncle's aunty who is the wife of that MD of that big company. Try to reach out to relatives/family etc. Ask your dad to borrow from them and you'll return it poco-a-poco. And i seriously hope your course has serious 100% sure co-op also. If not, pls just listen to chairman osemigho and go to unilag. But don't give up yet... In fact never lose hope.
I wish you well.

By the way, if you can conveniently afford #500-600k for just a year, try diploma in Unilag. It is one of the easiest way to enter Unilag. No jamb headache and an averagely serious mind will gain full admission to 200level ( #19.5k school fees) after one year of diploma.

I guess I just shared a secret you can use. Come pay me! grin
haba! cry
Person wan go Canada, you dey talk unilag, i am sure he/she has performed risk analysis on this issue, to have tried twice and yet getting ready to refire for the third time no be play at all. My advice is for him/her to get more valid sponsors whose SOA fit make VO quit him job.
He/she would be able to cope over there once he/she gets there. I personally know people (undergraduates) that are managing that way. Especially if you go to Waterloo engineering program, u'll use 2 yrs out of ur 5 yrs in co-op. At the end of the day, to pay tuition go be beans. The only problem will be how to remain an hopo samien for the first year.

Okay, thank you bro.. which school are you looking 4 admission.. lemme have your mail pls
my brother you no fit "follow" osemigho oooo, the bros na chairman if only you understand.
Level pass level
As for your question regarding IELTS, most schs do not need you to submit English test score, so just forget about it. I'll only advise you to do GRE if your gpa is very very low or your supervisor requires a gre score.
On the issue of funding, to be honest with you, ur gpa X.X1 is very low to secure funding even your Y.9Y for the last 2 yrs also, the chances are very slim. I didn't want to tell you this bad news b4 but seeing that you want to "farawe" chairman osemigho, i just have to tell you. For example, i met a lady today who was admitted into MAsc for civil engineering in UBC, she had 86% in her B.Eng and she was admitted without funding, not even partial. No funding at all. (She was unlucky, those who had higher percentages had exhausted the funds from her supervisor)
So my brother, double your hustle.

which dept? Because i know say if na ECE e no fit ever work, it is explicitly stated that no supervisor = no admission.
Since you have exceptional grades, i suspect they might just decide to admit you into the course based program.

Thanks bro..i appreciate. Please what are the full names of those acronyms u stated?

I also discovered what SOP means... cheesy

What if i dont wanna do research work? Is it by force?
UNBC = University of Northern British Columbia
MUN = Memorial University of Newfoundland

Of course its not conpulsory you choose Msc (research/thesis-based) you can choose M.Eng (course based)

Is it ok?
yeah it is definitely okay.
But since you know you are barely above the cutoff (make i tell you the truth, no point in 'boboing' you), apply to more that one sch to maximize ur chances, also check out UNBC, MUN etc. these schs are very cheap too
Don't forget to put in a good essay also.

How about you, mcowubaba?

Getting admission to the university of Toronto, mcgill and university of British Columbia means that you are highly qualified. Sometimes these universities admit not more than 10% of those who meet their admission standard.

Thanks alot...i appreciate..i have a 3.4 CGPA and graduated in 2012... Do i still stand a chance??
its not your final cgpa that matters, its ur last 4 semesters. If you made above a cumulative of 3.5 in your last 2 years, then kudos!
You are admissible.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 11 by Riddeek: 9:21pm On Dec 08, 2016

A four-year undergraduate degree, or equivalent, from a recognized college or university in an academic discipline relevant to the proposed field of study

A cumulative weighted average of at least 70% (U of S grade system equivalent) in the last two years of study (e.g. 60 credit units)

Proof of English language proficiency may be required for international applicants and for applicants whose first language is not English

The above is what i got from the University Of Saskatchewan.

I really someone help to analyse the second and third paragraph.

Also, i saw that the school fee was pitched at $1950/Term for international students.

Ideally, there are three terms so thats mulitplied by the above which should give about 5K plus.

Now, is this CAD? or USD? Whats the rate biko? undecided
the third point means that you need a minimum of 3.5/5.0 (70%) in ur last 2 yrs to make you admissible, i hope your cgpa is way above that

Forget abt the fourth point, uni of Saskatchewan recognizes Nigeria as an English-speaking nation so you don't have to waste your money on any TOEFL/IELTS test

Fees are in CAD, never mind that they use the conventional USD symbol, that was something i had a hard time getting accustomed to.
i think the current rate is 250NGN = 1CAD (not too certain)

Disclaimer: i am not a student in the above mentioned sch, i have not even applied to any sch, all answers are based on my research on the sch.
