Osemigho wow! I am so happy for you. I almost screamed when i saw your post. You really deserve this Sir. I just had to get out of ghost mode, login and congratulate you. Represent us well in Calgary. I also congratulate all other people who have bagged their TRVs - Canadiannurse(always thought you were a female), maziude (the mazi with the massive funds), Ayoola03, chonewillie, smartlawyer(your profile over impressed me) and others i fail to mention. You guys rock. We shall meet at the top. 6 Likes |

platypelloid:U applied to only UBC and you are in doubt whether to apply to other schs? Bros you dey joke You have to overlook the 100CAD app fee for other schs and apply. Infact apply to a minimum of 3 except you are a first class graduate. Pls don't ever put all your eggs in one basket. Its very risky. |

phemmyB:abeg give that person one hot slap, just one, for spreading wrong info. My brother, GRE simply increases your chances as an international student, it doesn't mean you can't be admitted without it, when no be US. On a side note, that McGill wey you apply to ehn, no be sere sere ooo. I hope you applied to other schs sha Speak with your supervisor as regards funding. He is your fund master. I am not a grad student at McGill or any other institution and therefore know nothing abt their admission process. In fact i have not even applied to any sch. Answers given are simply based on little research via Google. 1 Like |

stelids007:what!!!! Then that wouldn't work for a case like this It is usually colleges and few unis that do that But some research masters program do not request for deposit before granting admission. |

dogice:actually he was asking abt PGD/PGC and not masters. By the way, Waterloo is only extremely mouthed in IT in their undergrad programs, you can't compare Waterloo to the likes of McGill, UofToronto and UBC in terms of postgrad programs. Waterloo is usually the fourth and sometimes fifth after UofA, check any ranking you wish to go through online to confirm. |

olatuns2016:sorry for your refusal, if course mismatch are part of the reasons and you really want to do your supply ish, try to get admitted into economics - which of course you don't want to do and also your supply chain management. Apply for TRV using the economics admission, when you get to canada continue ur life with supply chain management. Downside to this plan is that you have to lose around $100 application fee or so to a program you would never attend. At least its better than silly refusals on course mismatch By the way, i don't know any related course to economics. Other people on the forum can help you out. 1 Like |

moyin1010:Smart move! if you finished from a course, get admission into that course/related course and also the dept of your choice, apply for ur TRV with the aligned course and after you are granted, the ball is now in your court and you can resume your intended course in mapleland. I hope people learn from this and stop getting course mismatch refusal, its annoying to be refused for that silly reason even after scaling through financial strength and home tie. |

emakgaga:yeah... Waterloo is arguably one of the bests in the world when it comes to software but unfortunately they do not offer grad studies in software engineering, only undergrad. because wetin dem wan teach for masters wey their crazy undergrads never sabi? The software eng is jointly offered by Electrical and Computer Engineering and computer science, he can do his masters in either ECE or CS, and for the purpose of obtaining visa, i'll advise him to remain on the ECE path. |

Osemigho:boss keep up the good work! If i may ask, are you considering the US also or only mapleland? Just in case, tips on US package will be appreciated Recently i have been having second thoughts on focusing on canada alone with all the refusals here and there, i just want to be certain i am gonna leave to a better place |

yorhmienerd:personally, as per canadian system, this is the first time that i see the word "scholarship" used beside the word "college". I know universities offer scholarships but i never knew colleges do so too, i felt they were just out to milk cash out of students and thats all. But after a quick google search, i discovered i was wrong. Osemigho:smart move! Speaking of Ucal, confirm whether you need to take the IELTS from ur grad sec. I mailed the grad sec of my dept recently and she said the dept does not recognize Nigeria as an english speaking nation and i must take IELTS or else my app won't even be attended to. I even tried on 2 to 3 occasions to explain to her dat my whole edu had been in English, she just told me... Look this is my job, you need to take English test. Since then, i just carry mind commot from Ucal. So pls confirm from your department to avoid stories that touch the heart. |

1soul:"travel history" is just an accompanying reason, neglect it. (Except you have issues with immigration in other countries) Focus on tackling purpose of visit. For starters, your brother needs to carefully draft a solid and very convincing SOP to explain why he wants to study that course and why he chose Canada to further his studies, and if possible include future goals. |

Damienkings:undergrad or postgrad? If undergrad, then the below does not apply to you. For post grad studies, pls forget abt all these nonsense talks (sorry for the harsh word here ) abt one course having better prospects for now. Just choose the one that will make you get TRV. A lot of people are being denied daily based on course mismatch so it will be good to learn from others mistakes. You did chem eng in undergrad? Just go for chem eng in masters You did IT/computer science/ software eng in undergrad? Go for IT stuff. Then when you get to canada, CIC will no longer be a problem and you can have a say in your life by changing sch and course and even program if you still wish to do so, by simply notifying them. For now, just play safe. Play by the rules. Now to answer your question after all my unnecessary rant, IT pays better, depending on your skills and there is just no end to IT jobs in a developed world. 7 Likes |
