According to the VFS tracker, my wifes passport has been sent from the Accra VO to VAC yesterday. My wife called VFS Lagos and was told that it takes between 5-7 days when the tracking updates to collection. My question: Please when someone notices from VFS tracking that his/her passport has been sent from the Accra VO to VFS. How long does it usually take for the passport to be ready for collection (even without VFS email or text notification)?. We are aware of the delay from VFS in updating stuff. Would it be ready but the system has not sent out the pickup mail? Actually, we are in a tight corner as we have reserved a flight for Thursday. About to make payment hoping that the passport can be picked up by Monday. Any suggestions? |

So I actually logged into my account and saw the new status bar despite I have landed as a PR. It looks quite nice. It gives the date my application was received: Apr 26,2018 to the estimated completion date: Oct 26, 2018. Just like when you are tracking a package! Funny enough it speculates that my application is taking longer than expected to complete (among the 20% of applicants whose file is tough due to bla bla bla). Overall, I can say that this does not in anyway solve the problem of real-time update given that my application has been approved (I have landed and my spouse has submit passport for visa and COPR). As the primary applicant, I had expected my application to be updated with approved after I landed but it still shows in progress (which I think another inland applicant had experienced after landing). But if this is because my spouse passport is still waiting to be stamped (already 24 days after it was sent to the VO), maybe that might justify why my application is still in progress. However, I really doubt that is the reason. Simply put, it is just like a postman who delivered an item (say, check) but did not update the tracking information as delivered. In essence, the tracker will keep saying "in transit" even if you have deposited and even spent all the money! In summary, I am still not impressed with this new update as it offers little or no improvement to the problems applicants face. IRCC should try better as we paid for this service and deserve better. |
Adiepena:Sorry about that. It is obvious that sending multiple emails wouldn't make them to reply. But I am certain it was received. Maybe you should try calling the IRCC Call Center via Skype (although they are usually not helpful. But try!). As a backup, you can start making plans for someone in India who can help! A colleague of mine just went to India for vacation. I am sure he isn't close to New Delhi but help will definitely come when it is sorted for! It will definitely be fine. |
Adiepena:Yes, I think already read where someone mentioned that that they don't. Alternatively, you can actually send an email to CPC Ottawa and they will reissue you a new PPR letter with Accra office! Someone just posted it not too long ago. I think that will be ideal for you. Thanks for the phone number too! |
Please are there persons who are waiting for their stamped passport and COPR to be returned from Accra VO since Nov 19th? We are just wondering why there hasn't been any update with this final process. Any information will be appreciated! |
Adiepena:Sorry about the extra stress even after you have received the approval. If I am asked to say, it isn't a big deal to send the passport to India. As I already mentioned, one of my friends who lives in Australia was asked to submit her passport to Ottawa. It was surprising they asked her give there are offices in Sydney. She did that and he passport was back within 2 weeks (even earlier than sending to our Accra neighbors). That said, please you mentioned that you called Accra VO? Do you mean VFS Accra? Can you please give me the number that you called as my wifes' passport has been there for quite sometime now with no update whatsoever? Thanks! |
HTGAWM:Its normal to raise all these concerns. However, they are really nothing. All you need is to have enough evidence to prove your relationship and subsequent marriage. Even it was just 1 night you spent in Nigeria after marriage, it doesn't matter. All that IRCC will look at is if you were physically present for the marriage. This is based on my personal experience as I got married after I had come to Canada. They would like to see evidence of proof of marriage and relationship. So keep your WhatsApp calls, videos, money transfers, pictures, etc that you have with your guy as they will play a vital role. So in all, you guys should go ahead (marry if you really are ready for marriage not just PR stuff) and get an ITA................before the conservatives comes in and changes the policy! All the best! |
EGBEDA101:Generally, new Ph.D graduate take up post-doctoral positions as they need more experience before landing an assistant professor position. This is generally the procedure in North America but I suppose it is different in Nigeria. So upon your arrival or even before then, start looking up for professors whose research interests align with yours (keep in touch if need be) for a possible post-doctoral position. Once you get in and you do your stuff well, you will fly easily. All the best! |
Inland Landing Experience The landing office is about 10 mins walk from my place. Appointment time was 10:30 am, so I left my house at 9:30, stopped to take passport photo before continuing to the IRCC Hamilton office. When I got there, I needed to enter from market street entrance (reserved for PR landing) but I missed it. Had to find my way again. Upon entering at 10:15 am, I suppose the officer was attending to those with 9:30am appointment. Funny enough, everyone were in pair (mostly family) or had an interpreter. When it was about 10:30am, the officer came to check for the presence of all the candidates who were supposed to land at that time. I think there were 7 persons of which one person was not present (I was the last person on the last). The process started about 10:40am and before 11:20am, I was done. She said the PR card will arrive within 4 to 5 weeks because of the upcoming holiday and that I can go and switch my SIN number immediately. When I inquired about the OHIP, she said that I cannot apply until I receive my health card. That was contrary to what I have been told. So I went to Service Ontario to see if I can apply for the Health card immediately and Yes I could. I did that and it will take effect after 3 months. Afterwards, I went to Service Canada for my Permanent SIN number.......took some time though but I just wanted to get it done! Now waiting for my spouse's passport to be stamped, COPR issued and returned so we can get a flight. The prices are going higher by the day! I can't thank God enough...............The holiday has almost started. I wish everyone success as you wait out this seemingly unending PR process.......definitely it will end with joy! |
sparkle2k3:Nice information.......Please was this recently you did this and how long did it take the passport to be returned by Accra? |
ontarioissauga:No.......got married 8 months before. I suppose its because of my wife's open work permit that was refused twice! |
So our PPR details: FSW-Inland Apirl 26: AOR May 2: MEP May 2: IP1 June 26: Called CIC and was told that my VO is Montreal (First time to hear that). Something told me that this location doesn't seem encouraging....It didn't sound like Ottawa (LOL). And as I thought, not even criminality was passed after 2 months. Eligibility, of course, was not started July 11: Called CIC again and nothing seem to have changed July 11: Ordered GCMS August 10: Got GCMS and what the agents said were true. Nothing has happened. Just the R10 check which they, funny enough, flagged my RCMP report that I voluntarily submitted for additional review. I have already seen that everything is fine (as I have the result with me), yet the officer wants additional review. Then, review of my wife's statutory questions (she was refused OWP twice)......I wasn't surprised about this! August 10: Called CIC and I was told that my eligibility is in process......I didn't get the clue to order another GCMS as the Eligibility was done on the August 6 which the GCMS did not cover. I decided not to call CIC again out of frustration although hoping to call on Sept 10 if I don't hear from them........... Sept 11: I was busy and couldn't call the previous date. I woke up and saw my friends (he applied 2 weeks before us) text message that he got the PPR. Hence, I said I will wait for 2 more weeks before I call. However, my wife pushed I call earlier which helped eventually! Sept 19: I called CIC twice. The first agent was not useful and the second agent even was worse. I pushed to know if my eligibility was recommended passed or for additional review. Both agents could not answer the question. I am not sure if they knew what those terms meant or they couldn't read from the computer. Then I realized that I was on my own! Sept 20: 2nd GCMS ordered Oct 22: GCMS arrived. Behold, there was a review required (It confirmed that the agents don't know what they were doing). For some reason, the case analyst claimed that I did not include my teaching assistant (TA) job description which was in the letter I submitted. I couldn't bear that. Even at that, he/she did not add the 2 NOC's that I used which other case analysts had done. Well, God still favored me as my primary NOC (which was just used for my CRS calculation) was sufficient. The analyst wrote that I meet the requirements........but flagging for additional review was what I didn't understand Oct 24: I sent an unsolicited CSE starting that I have enough points and the TA job was for just completeness of information. That since the TA job is causing additional review, that they should remove it from my history. However, if they can't, I have attached a more detailed TA job description. Oct 29: I got acknowledgement that the CSE I submitted was received and have been forwarded to the appropriate VO. Oct 31: I called CIC and the agent killed me. Having explained all the disappointments with wife's OWP refusal, long distance marriage, and the 6 months processing time that has been exceeded, she said that there is nothing she can do. In her statement "If you feel you have waited for long"! I almost lost my patience but I knew that I will be the one to loss (maybe a bad note in my account) if I say something drastic. Nov 1: I went to the MP's office. During my discussion with the office manager, she even tried to convince me that ordering GCMS have caused the delay of my processing. Well, that was the fallacious information the call center would have fed them......so no need trying to convince her otherwise. She actually called CIC and was told that they haven't started my security and criminality. That eligibility is still in progress but that I have enough points............so we should wait. Nov 7: During the daily Mass, I asked the Lord what was going on as it was becoming unbearable. After Mass, I was busy in my Lab working and noticed that I have a message from CIC. When I logged in, it was a request letter. I thought it was for passport.......it was marriage photos request. Nov 8: We submitted the ADR......56 pages!!!!! Nov 15: I could not rest well.......So, I called CIC and the lady still behaved like all the agents. She quoted wrong dates for the submission of the ADR. According to her, I have to wait for long as my criminality and security have not started yet. That my eligibility cannot be passed until I pass both criminality and security. She even told me that there is nothing they can do till April 2019. That made me to write a letter to the VO about my ADR submission which I submitted via CSE. Nov 16: I woke up to see an email notification......logged in and it was PPR just for my wife. Happily, I just called CIC to hear from the horses mouth, what next I should do about my own landing The lady told me that it was a wrong email (What!)........that it was supposed to be for me instead of my wife. I was just laughing (as I already learnt from this thread). I asked her to please confirm this information she was giving me. Well, she came back and apologized! She then said that my local CIC office will contact me for my landing within 4 to 6 weeks. Nov 16: IP2 #mystory #ourstory......................Thanks guys for being part of it. We appreciate you all! |
ysteph:That is correct @ysteph......But what is your specific opinion in this situation? |
Duchynwa:Hey guys, please I actually asked my friend to make this post as we need clarifications. She had done a graduate assistant job (3 yrs and 1 month) before she was promoted to Lecturer I and II (1 yr and 4 months) in the same university. Actually, she needs 3 years work experience to get an ITA. She intends to use her Lecturer position (NOC 4011) as the primary occupation and then add the graduate assistants (NOC 4012) in her other work experience. Now, the question is whether CIC will give her a total of 3yrs+ when evaluating her CRS. Please give your opinions!!! |
gistwivkome:Something is happening for you........I can only say Congratulations!!!! |
CanadaPR:No. I shouldn't have been this adventurous; Sorry for the inconvenience the statement would have cost you or other readers. All I wanted to say was that it is easier for a self-employed applicant with employees (fair number) to prove his/her case unlike a one man business. That said, a single person business can still land someone PR. However, more work is needed to prove the business model to the interviewer. Once everything checks out fine, the case will be won. Once again, sorry about that. |
xtosync:Kinda complicated eeh? Well, you are still in fine shape. From all indications, CIC officers just want to be sure that the job for which you are claiming points exists and you actually did the job. And since the company is yours, it becomes complication. It has never been easy for self-employed persons to get PR (Unless your company has over 10 employees). That said, everything lies in your hands. Keep gathering supporting documents and wait for them to invite you for the interview. As per "These guys are working though", its obvious they need to close an 8 months case. But they can't just do that using guts feelings........since online presence wasn't clear, they have to talk with you. Tips: During your interview, just know that those guys are kind persons. Yes, they know we Naija can lie, they also lie. Just tell them your story backed up with evidence and everything will be fine. Cheers! |
xtosync:Mixed feelings right? Well, you have an advantage. You already know ahead of time so prepare for it. Question: What do you think you submitted that would have led to an interview? Recommended preparation strategy: Start gathering all evidence of your documents and wait for their interview email to come. Your AOR and LVO will give you an idea on when you might be expecting the interview email. I believe you will be fine.........Good luck!!! |
doyinwbaby:Your village people are sleeping ooo........You are the one calling them ooo. When they come now, no run ooo. Chill, it will drop. Mine came 7 hours after the draw. Congratulations |
GodandVal:I did mine and got it back within a week. Probably you sent in a paper application. FBI has the electronic system which you can get your result in 3 - 5 business days (https://www.fbi.gov/services/cjis/identity-history-summary-checks). |
luffyhaki:Maybe that 3-5 days in France worth much more than just entering Canny as PR and then start pursuing $30 - $40/hr (even if he gets that). |
Markab:What information do you want? |
Olaneeran:It is not sent to you. You get access online using the credentials they will send to you after you have paid and your registration have been confirmed. |
vickyehi:Really?? That city in Canada must be super expensive to live in. Mine was approx. $46. And come to think about it, do we really need PCC when we are in Canada. Don't get me wrong; I already did mine. But I am coming to understand that CIC have the access to do same thing we do for them. Hence, we are wasting our money. Guys, let me know what you all think. I mean, this is for people who are in Canada and will be getting ITA soonest. Like I said, I already have my report from RCMP. Lets share ideas Cheers! |
ArcUgo:Its a pity. Its painful. Just "point 5". All that going on your mind. I know. Mine was even worse. But all I can tell you is to stand tall. Move on. A remark? I wouldn't encourage that as the return time would have given you your desired score if you shoot again. You already seen your weak point. Work on it. Re-register and you will smile at the end. Writing tips: I will just talk about task 2 (as it is the most important). Make sure you address all the questions. For example: If you are asked about the advantages and disadvantages of bicycle (for instance) as a good means of transportation. And also asked to give your view about it. What does it mean? You already have 3 things to address. So simply put, your response should consist of: a) Introduction b) The advantages c) The disadvantages d) Your view which can serve as your conclusion. Things to watch out for when doing Task 2: 1) Make a sentence with a good ending (sentence completion) 2) Make sure that there is a coherent flow of ideas 3) Use linkers a lot. For e.g, therefore, moreover, in addition, on the contrary, etc 4) Make sure each sentence has a unique point it addresses. Don't discuss two different views in one sentence unless you are contrasting them. 5) Avoid using the same word repeatedly as that takes off a lot of points. I just wrote down this my opinions quickly but am sure the above mentioned are the critical things that matters. Just practice and practice and you will be fine. If you register with BC, I think you will get the Road to IELTS access. Listen to the instructions of those British IELTS teachers. They nailed it on how to make a band of 8 in writing. It worked for me and am sure it will for you too. Good luck to you and all in the same shoe. I hope this helps. |
Hi guys, Congrats to all who received ITA esp the 11/04. And to all, in whatever stage you are now, your next step is imminent. Be positive, it will come before you know it. And from my experience, don't allow worries to come to you. It might obstruct other things that will come your way to the extent that when the much expected eventually comes, you will notice you did yourself a disservice as it wasn't worth the headache. I live and study in Canada. Got married in 2017 and applied for my wife to join me on SOWP but was denied twice. Her first denial was because of relationship proof. Although we included our marriage certificate and court registration, the officer indicated in the GCMS note that we didn't provide sufficient evidence for marriage (no relationship pictures and evidence of dating before marriage). On the contrary, my wife had all these documents included in her application but the VFS agent removed the pictures. Painful!! For her second application, we added pictures dating back to 6 yrs, call logs, chats, and email conversations. Yet, it came back with a refusal. Now, travel history, purpose of visit, and current employment situation etc. The denial was completely a tough one; difficult to bear. My IELTS result was 7.5 7.5 8 7 (that was before I got married). But it didn't suffice. Tried another one after marriage thinking I was close but it went worse 7 6.5 5.5 7. Immediately registered again and it was a disaster: 6.5 7 8.5 7.5. I knew my weakest point was listening and that is even where I needed an 8. So I gave up coupled with busy school schedule. However, after the last denial, I resolved to give IELTS and my research work fair amount of time. Summary, April 06 result favored us: 8 7.5 8.5 8. So I went back to my EE profile that was 402, tried adding my wife but couldn't. Without patience to read up on how to go by it, my office colleague advised I can withdraw my previous and create a new one. Fine! I did that. I was already on 447 (CRS tool). But when I finished filling up the profile, I got an email that I am no longer in the pool as I am not qualified. Chei!!!! What have I done to Canada? Little did I know I selected the wrong degree. So the account became ineligible. My colleague seeing my condition, had to create the account himself (at my watch just to ensure accuracy). When he finished, I was on 447. Thank God But ever since then, I never slept. I kept analyzing CIC probably CRS cut off. Reading ministerial instructions. Trying to figure out what prevented a Monday draw as it was 2 weeks ago the previous was done. Thoughts thoughts thoughts..........just thought. All proved to be useless. Yesterday, just gisting with my colleague still on the possible draw, and trying to show him the last ministerial instruction. Boom!!!! I noticed the draw already happened. But I never got an email!!! Another obituary. Nothing worked anymore. I checked my CIC account, email (God knows how many), read online the possible cause of ITA delay. Well, the email came when I didn't expect. I was excited but already tired. Morals: Try and relax the anxiety you can cause yourself during the wait time. It can be overwhelming but just try and manage it well. I have learnt my lessons. For those who intend to take the IELTS test, well many are easy going with the such standardized tests, a lot will fall for it. All you need to do is to master the test structure. It does not necessarily test your English ability. It basically test your "IELTS test taking skills". So learn it before going to the test. It worked for me; I am sure it will work for you too. Now, the next phase.......Just hoping I can remain calm. Please are there persons (other persons recommendation will also be appreciated) who had one of the spouse in Canada and the other in Nigeria that got PR approved? I just need to know what my wife and I need to know especially marriage proof since we are just 7 months old in the journey. Cheers guys |
Congratulations.....That was quite fast. Late last year (SP) and to have gotten a reply (approval) within a short time is quite impressive. And your wife's approval is also good to know. About your question, its good she has passed her medical exam. So I advise you worry less. Just get your passport in courier parcel ready. It will come very soon. Congrats once more!!!! croyance: |
Am sorry to hear that. It is quite a difficult situation for you. I can't just say you take it easy as I know its tough. I feel the pain. Firstly, I advise you to request for your GCMS so as to know what exactly is the reason for the denials. And just to know how the house can advise you, what is your situation? For example, your wife or husband is studying (enough SP validity) or working (appropriate NOC), finance issues, any history of travel problems. These will help people to advise you. But most importantly, you need the GCMS to better inform you. Take heart!!!! best2002: |
Just check the post as of 2 weeks ago. Someone posted how to link paper application online. Realme4u: |
Am surprised they still haven't updated anything on your application. Its 2 months now. In the past, people have got updates by this time via paper route (although we know the dynamics in their processing). But I was expecting a medical request or something to show they are doing something. Please, what is going on? Anyways, I have heard there is a high chance of approval when application stay a bit longer (like, it is always quick for them to deny than approve). But this delay is not expected....Abeg house, anybody get clue whats going on with CIC? Samchi2014: |
You should link your application online. Just use your names to do that......It makes it easier to follow up rather than calling VFS.

|
