Politics / Re: The Truth About Amaechi Monorail Project With Pictures by rolchi(m): 1:13pm On Jul 24, 2014 |
JasonMM: There are a lot of haters in the system. It should be noted that the Rivers Monorail Project is not about Gov Amaechi, He will leave the position by Next year. The question should be "How do we re-position Rivers State as a the Oil and Gas capital of Africa?". All over the world, projects of this nature are designed in Phases. What you guys are seeing is the Phase 1A of the project (UTC - Sharks Park) 2.6km. This will be completed by the end of the year. Phase 1B is a 3.9Km stretch (UTC - Waterlines). The design and framework for this phase has already been concluded. All of us know of the London Underground; last year they celebrated 150 years of the London Metro (It started with a small stretch). It should also be noted that they are still constructing. If subsequent governments come in and extend this system to Obigbo and even Omagwa airpot, you can imagine how this town (PHC) will be like. we will be the envy of other states. Thank you oh! But, my question is: Why didn"t this first phase start from either Waterlines to Rumuola or Rumuola to Artillery where there is excruciating traffic? Even Consider that Obigbo end down to Eleme. That is my question oh! Why start from the front of government house where there can never be severe hold_up in another 20 years. 1 Like |
Politics / Re: The Truth About Amaechi Monorail Project With Pictures by rolchi(m): 5:59pm On Jul 23, 2014 |
Symphony007: this is the starting point of the project, it is projected to run into aba road to waterlines, rumuola, etc...in five years from now, rather than enter taxi and bus that chock aba road. A single train can transport over 100 people from waterlines to lagos bus stop. That's planning and forward thinking. OK...let me agree to this your point. Since this is a long term plan and this monorail starts from Lagos Bu stop and it has taken 8 years to do this, why didn't he start from Obigbo down. At least, we have a large population from that end that can begin to enjoy it even if it is between two bus stops? What I a msaying that starting from Lagos Bus stop to UTC where there is no traffic at peak period....don't you think that this is not forward thinking? |
Politics / Re: Pictures, Propaganda And Politics: A Case Study Of Amechi's Monorail by rolchi(m): 5:47pm On Jul 23, 2014 |
Symphony007: there is a reason the train started at lagos bus stop. That's because that is the location of the central office and it is the start of port harcourts buisness district. The plan is it will run from lagos bus stop to UTC, UTC to waterlines, waterlines to rumuola, rumuola to airforce,etc... Up to obigbo. Surely this project will not be completed in one day. 100 years after the new york subway was built, work crews are still blowing up the earth in manhattan to create new routes. We just need the next government and government after to remain committed. I address the reason for the high price. The RSG's partner pulled out leaving the government to complete the first phase alone. Monorails are expensive. Considering the epileptic state of power supply in nigeria, it has to provide it's own power. We don't need monorail now? When we will need it? Years later when million more cars enter port harcourt and traffic becomes hell? Take a look at port harcourt's traffic today and imagine what it will be in future without good mass transit system. It will just strangle whatever economic growth that was suppose to happen in the city. Start today. Step by step, we'll get there and you'll look back and say were will we be if this was'nt there. Ok...we noted. Lets hope the next government will continue up-til Garrison, Rumuola and Artillery, Eleme Junction, Obigbo. We just pray! |

ibietela2: Yes, I agree ... Leventis is still way up along Aba Road. But this Monorail James Bond Movie sha...Na only God go judge. Simple civilians like us who are not contractors or politicians, we just wonder at such monumental waste of public funds. When I remember the number of concrete CFA piles driven into the ground and the cost of a singular pillar (being into construction myself), my heart aches. Problem is Amaechi doesn't see it as failure. He still uses it as a political gain. If only he listen to sound economic advise, Rivers State for now does not need a monorail in any location. What is needed is good road connections and then at best, light rail. If had done Rumuokoro, expanded Rumuola as a minimum, in fact....I will follow him till Fourth Term in any elective position he wants to go. Teh problem is that his administration still flag it as one of the projects delivered to the people. If you live in PHC and you know that place, you will cry. Oh I weep...I just cry 1 Like |
Politics / Re: Buhari Spits Fire!!! by rolchi(m): 9:04am On Jul 22, 2014 |
Nigerians and fear! The Impeachment of Nyako is simply democracy at work! Nyako can very well go to court and torpedo the impeachment, if he feels he has been injured. the courts will definitely restore his rights. Why all the cry and pointing accusing fingers at the Presidency. We all remember Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State. He was impeached by PDP HOR in Anambra State but the courts restored his rights and he eventually worked with the same HOR member and even winning a second term (something, no democratically elected governor has done in Anambra State). This is purely democracy! Holding the Government to accountability. It is a welcomed development. I believe that soonest, we will get to the point where a constituency will even recall an elected representative for lack of performance. If Nyako is honest and the APC a serious party, they know what to do. It has happened in Nigeria before and it can happen again. Anyone pointing accusing fingers to the Presidency is not a DEMOCRAT and does not wish our democracy well including the APC and Buhari himself. |

Uche, Sorry to hear your story. However, the way you are going about this is improper. First, there isn't any contract between y ou and the church or between you and the Rev'd or any of his appointed rep. So, you have a lost case already. What you did is "purely" a gift. How can you spend NGN200,000.00 to do a job that is unsolicited (as you claimed) and expect the intended recipient to cough out that amount of money? It is not done. The photograph is a gift and so far, with the manner and way you are going about it, it will land you in serious trouble. Now, withdraw this open letter and do your best to see the Rev'd privately and appeal to his good conscience. I wish you luck. 4 Likes |

Abagworo: Amaechi is playing propaganda and we all know it. No state government can do the E/W Road, especially the lot in Bayelsa & Rivers States. If Amaechi has got the money, let him complete the Mono Rail for Mass Transportation. And I wonder what mass transportation is there, when the so called monorail so far done since 6 years is from the beginning of Azikiwe Road up to Station B/Stop. For those of us that live in PHC, we all know that from Azikiwe Road to Station B/Stop is very very very well strollable and currently, there is never a traffic congestion on this route except if there is traffic bottleneck. 2 Likes |

ikennaoma: Brother u hv proven a point. But there is one thing u must understand here when one is talking of a federal govt project,he is not referring at projects being done by federal bodies. This federal bodies hv there own annual budget. Expansion of imo-rivers road is a typical example of federal govt project. My brother u should admit that the present president is not doing anything. What he is best in doing is privatisation our national companies. During Yaradua's tenure we saw lots of federal govt projects. He was determine 2 provide power that will serve d country. He embarked on massive rehabilitation of refineries. Throughout his tenure d price of fuel was stable and d power projects he started was at completion stage. So brother when u are creating a thread don't bring sentiments into it. We should learn 2 use d media 4 d well being of d citizens. That's my take Thanks for your comments, but do provide name(s) of the refinery(ies) that was(were) massively rehabilitated by Yar'Adua. |

But I still stand to be corrected..."essential commodities" were scarce. We queued for simple groceries in Nigeria. Oh, I also remember when the currency was changed. The color of one naira then now became the color of today's ten naira. Obiagelli, we went through hell then. Seriously!!! 3 Likes |

Obiagelli: Obiagelli, I have read your posts about Buhari's govt. What Ogb5 said is true. I remember then as a teenager, my mum queuing for essential comodities like sugar. Even then, we could not get "ordinary" toilet roll. We resorted to use of paper. Sugar was scarce. Nigerians became very enterprising then. If you believe your coupist Buhari so much, read "Soldiers of Fortune" by Max Silloun. Bihari can never rule Nigeria again. APC will never sell him. 10 Likes |

BigBenoski: I just marvel at the naivity of those who think this conference is going to change a thing. The structure of this proposed conference is hugely flawed, in that the outcome of the conference would be forwarded to the national assembly for ratification. The lawmakers will kill every good thing in the report and we would have ended up justying oshiomhole for calling the conference 'a mere talk shop'. Our thieving lawmakers do not need any national dialogue to make good laws for us; they have just refused to do it. We'v been crying for eons for them to reduce their allowances. How did they respond to that? More increament. i'm averse to any national dialogue in naija, whose outcome are not binding on the national assembly. Sill, let's talk and let it be on record that the National Assembly, the second arm of government and the symbol of our democracy FAILED Nigerians. Brother, there are so many things to talk about to push the country forward. |
