Latest estimates put the number of Igbos resident outside their region at 7 to 10 million.
Some figures go as high as 15 million.
Is the SE prepared to welcome this number of "returnees", after they are declared illegal aliens in Nigeria, and promptly deported? |

Every so often in its life, a nation gives rise to a set of heroes. Patriotic elements who, against all onslaughts, stand firm in the nation's defence. Indeed, no great nation has ever emerged, which did not have this remarkable set of people, at some point in its history. From those who stormed the mighty palaces in the French Revolution, to the great African-American civil rights movement led by Dr Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X, to the great icon of South Africa, Nelson Mandela and his beloved ANC, once condemned as a terrorist group.
In modern Nigeria, the great nationalists of our time, now ingloriously termed "Unity Beggars", are the shining torch, the shining light, holding out to the world an enduring vision of Nigerian greatness.
To this group of nationalist patriots, you have my salute, and may God continue to bless your endeavours. |

Omofunaab2: Op, The only geo political zone that can't stand alone is the south east, they know this, but they won't answer your question instead they will call you afonja. .
Why do you think most of them on nairaland denied that there was a fight between biogbolo youths and igbo traders in Bayelsa? Bro, it is because of "oyel " ..and do you think the south south people don't know this? Left with the south south they don't want to share their resources with anyone including Nigeria sef. .
Today south west can decide to secede and be on its own but can same be said of south east?
I have friends that are from delta, they have igbo names, i see them as igbos but they usually get annoyed whenever i call them "Omo Ibo " . Seriously i really don't understand why people in rivers and delta are denying their "igboness".. Why aren't they proud of being called igbos? Kwara is in north central, okun people are in kogi but you will never hear any of them say they are not yorubas.
I must also admit that i have met two or three people from delta that embraced their "igboness " but majority always claim they are not igbos They see Igbos as domineering. They're very nervous about how much the Igbos will oppress them in any Biafra contraption, by virtue of their population dominance. Who can blame them? Before you know it it they'll start calling the riverine oilfields "no man's land". |

Let the South South declare that they are not interested in joining Biafra, and watch how quickly the Ipob movement collapses. Biafra is ALL about stealing that oil for the Igbos.
In private, many Igbos ridicule people from the south south. They call them drunkards and wastrels. But in public, they are "brothers in the Biafra cause". If the south south join Biafra, they will live to regret it. The Igbos are ready to exterminate them to seize those oilfields. |

And if not for the civil war all these stories wont be everywhre Ignorance personified. Firstly, historical research goes beyond oral history, and includes a whole range of elements such as anthropology, linguistics, and cultural comparison among others. Secondly, the oral history of a people is not typically passed from parents to children, but from trained griots to their apprentices. The place you go for trained griots in Igboland would include the Nri kingdom etc, not your parents. Lastly, until you have spent quality time researching the subject - what you term "stupid research" - I suggest you stay away from the topic. |

A HISTORICAL REVIEW OF NIGERIAN EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES AND POLICIES THE COLONIAL PERIOD 1842 – 1955 In 1946, soon after the establishment of the first school in Badagry by the Missionaries, Lord Grey had recommended the establishment of agricultural education. The curriculum was intended to include household economy, gardening and surveying and agricultural chemistry (Faghulu, 1983, P 140). The tradition of work-oriented education was not successful as abundant evidence existed in the literature of complaints against the products of the school system who were unwilling to use their hands (Blyden, 1887). The same fate befall the attempt by missionary bodies to set up industrial institutions in Abeokuta. In the twentieth century the Phelps-Stokes Commission of l922 attempted to redirect the focus of education to work, as it was generally felt that the education given to Africans was inadequate and inappropriate as it educated them away from their environment. The Commission
www.nigerianobservernews.com/2015/03/future-of-education-in-nigeria-historical-review-of-objectives-policies/#nayaparam:857 What garbage is this? I don't know what this is or what you expect to achieve by posting it. It makes no sense, and I've no idea what you're trying to say. The colonialists built not one university in Nigeria between 1897 and 1960, despite exporting natural resources worth TRILLIONS in today's money. It wasn't just education they neglected. Name me one major hospital they built in those 63 years. Name me one stadium. Or one expressway. Or one power plant. Or one manufacturing industry? Nothing. Not even one university. Goodluck Jonathan, in just 5 years in office, built TWELVE universities. We often say that corruption 'increased after independence'. That's the height of tomfoolery and ignorance. Corruption actually DECREASED and DECREASED HUGELY after independence. Before independence, something like 95% of national earnings were siphoned to Britain on an annual basis, by British officials. This was why Nigeria was under-developed at independence. By right it should have been even more developed than South Africa, considering the resources exported. Our politicians have a history of corruption, but most estimates put the monies siphoned even in the worst years of corruption at no more than 30% - 40% of govt revenue. So our own leaders are not perfect, but they've done better than the colonial rulers. |

OBAGADAFFI: Ask yourself how did we less industrialized than South Africa.
Nigeria was far developed and industrialized than SA in the 80s to Early 90s.
Today most of the industries have relocated to SA, Ghana, Kenya and smaller African countries.
Just look at the mess called Ajaokota and NNPC. You are completely ignorant. South Africa has been an industrialised nation since at least the 1940s. Their colonialists built the economy, unlike in Nigeria where they just came to loot. SA had their first universities by the mid 1860s. In Nigeria, the whites built no university at all until they were kicked out in 1960. THE ONLY REASON South Africa is ahead today is because the colonialists invested the nation's resources back into the nation. Why? Because there was a substantial white settler community. In the rest of Africa, they did nothing but loot. This is why most African nations started from virtually nothing at independence in the 1960s. |
Politics › Re: STOP Comparing Nigeria To Smaller Countries. It Is DAFT. by Rossikki: 5:21pm On May 28, 2017 |
OBAGADAFFI: Say what you know.
South Africa is generating more than 40k magawatt with less than 50million population.
Nigeria is yet to achieve 10k megawatts with more than 159 millions.
Whose fault is that. South Africa has been building power plants and transmission systems since the 1880s. Nigeria only started building power plants after independence in 1960. The colonialists in South Africa reinvested their exports in the SA economy. The colonialists in Nigeria did nothing but loot. That is why we are playing catch up with South Africa today. |

GEJPosterity: Little does Sapiosexuality know that he has been talking to a sock puppet.
The amount of horse manure contained in this comment is hard to quantify. See how this thing directly contradicted itself saying "Economy comes before awakening", then in the very next paragraph says "Europeans conquered agriculture, allowing the rest of the population to develop other professions". So which came first? Did the Europeans first develop a consciousness about the need to conquer agriculture and free themselves to do other things, or did the agricultural know-how just fall from the sky?
See this Rossikk handle in my observation is actually a hardcore white racist who spends time here faithfully trolling. His message is too one-track and uniformly stupid to be genuinely his opinion. For someone who can do as much research and construct as many sophistic polemics as he can, these posts are too dumb to be his true thoughts.
This guy is trolling. I'll address the main part of your post and ignore the bizarre drivel. Europeans may have "developed a consciousness about the need to conquer agriculture", but so did every other population on earth, including Africans. But success in this was determined by the quality of the soil. Climate issues also affected the ability to domesticate animals. In Africa these were adverse, and in Europe, the conditions were ideal. The colonialists were shocked that most of the crops they brought from Europe couldn't be grown in Africa. They had assumed, like many still do today, that African soil was highly fertile. |
