omenka: Rossnity, I really envy your patriotism. I love Nigeria to my marrows but I don't think I've seen any poster here, including myself, who feels more passionate about Nigeria than you do.
happy200: If a South African know that there is someone who can manage a business or anything more than him. He gives it to the people, negotiates with the person. Both of them enjoys the benefit.
But even if a Nigerian know that he can't do a thing right, he 'll rather let that thing perish with him than give it out. I wrote this because i was trying to know why Nigerians choose to behave that way. But i found out that the problem is "ego" they just want to stay on top of any shit just to answer "oga".
It's not the reason. It's more about lack of formal business training, which engenders the feeling that whatever needs to be professionally delegated to competent hands is 'not really that difficult', and can be handled by the owner.
It's basically just underestimating the complexity and heaviness of the task at hand.
After a while - sometimes a few years - of doing this, many business owners smell the coffee, and take on additional staff.
Aconomist: That is not entirely true. Igbos don't lack wealth or capital. The problem is that most wealthy Igbo tend to brainlessly amass land instead of using their capital for production. This, I believe, is a major reason why the SE is underdeveloped.
If you want to look at land wealth in Nigeria, Igbos are probably the wealthiest in Nigeria. The capital is simply being misallocated to non-productive investments.
You're right. There are many wealthy Igbos you see, and you just think, ''why doesn't this guy set up a factory and produce stuff to sell?
Being an industrialist is the best occupation in Nigeria bar none.
The demand is there, so you will sell. So long as it's goods for which cheap Chinese substitutes are not allowed in the country, or if they are, you can produce at a lower cost or compete in price. But there are companies doing it here and thriving, especially in the East.
Aconomist: That's true. I've seen it. But, there are very few Igbo businessmen manufacturing on an industrial scale like Dangote and BUA Group are doing.
If you've got a factory, you're manufacturing on an industrial scale. Just because you're not as big as Dangote doesn't mean you're not.
Only a fraction of manufacturing firms on earth are multi-billion dollar enterprises.
Aconomist: Igbos are known to have a very business-oriented culture, but it seems to focus on petty trading and hustling instead of value-added manufacturing. Take for example Ibeto cement.
While his peers Dangote and Rabiu (BUA Group) graduated from importing into manufacturing, Ibeto continues to cling to the old business model of mass importation which drains the nation's FOREX reserves and creates poverty and unemployment. I don't want to hear excuses today.
There's a lot of manufacturing going on in the Eastern industrial heartlands of Onitsha, Nnewi, Awka, and Aba. There are factories everywhere there manufacturing all types of products.
UCHIHAmask: if the country was a person, then hating on he/she might be tagged unjustifiable..... nigeria is a country with so many perversed and disgusting characteristics, only a true PATRIOT would be vehemently criticizing it,that criticism is what our deluded goverment sees as "hate",whatever it be,it is justifiable.
Abeg go siddon. Many Nigerians smear the country unnecessarily by instinct without even thinking.
A common smear is that ''we don't manufacture common toothpicks''.
I mean, this is a statement that shows gross ignorance and foolishness, because Nigeria has thousands of factories across the country, manufacturing everything from 'toothpicks' to chemicals to pharmaceuticals to steel products, to computer tablets, to SUVs, to jet fighter spare parts and armoured personnel carriers!
So why would a Nigerian come out and say ''we don't manufacture common toothpicks''?
We underrate and underestimate our own selves before the world when we do that on social media, and it needs to stop.

To the subject of discuss
First it was said by the then opposition that PDP and Jonathan Co sponsored Boko Haram
Then PDP counter reacted that it was funded by Ali Modu Sherif, M buhari and Buhari was even nominated by Boko Haram for dialogue with the government
Fast forward to 2016 Presidency openly claimed that the fall out in Libya gave way to illicit trans Saharan weapon trafficking and that's the cause of Boko Haram.... This is a statement credited to Buhari himself
2020 Buhari's Chief of Army Staff claims International Community are using rag tag Boko Haram to break up Northern Nigeria... The bogus statement without fact or actual pointing out the international community
I think it's acute stupidity with abit of naivity to be Foolish enough to always blame the west for what happens to Africa
Shekau is Kanuri, people killed are kanuris, chief of army staff Burutai is Kanuri, Buhari's mother is Kanuri, NSA mugonu is Kanuri same as minister of defence.....
Yet an imbeciles is blaming the west thousands of miles outside the continent
You're obviously a youth who doesn't know how this world operates, and the interests of imperial powers fronted by their intelligence agencies.
Watch and learn about how the CIA was identified years ago as being a major player in the Boko Haram insurgency, something which Wikileaks actually published in 2015:
