Dino Melaye (APC-Kogi West) on Wednesday said the party lost Deputy Senate Presidency to PDP because many of its senators were absent from Tuesday’s inauguration.
Melaye, who briefed newsmen in Abuja, said all the APC senators present at the inauguration voted for the APC contestant, Sen. Ali Ndume, but lost because many APC senators were absent.
“Those that made APC to lose the Deputy Senate Presidency yesterday were those who stayed away from the chamber.
“If they had come, we would have won, we stood by our party, we nominated Sen. Ali Ndume, and the man who seconded the motion is a Senator from Kwara.
According to him, 20 APC members are in the chamber as at the time of the election and we all vote for Ndume.
He said that the APC was neither divided nor polarised.
The APC candidate, Sen. Ali Ndume, polled 20 votes, while the PDP candidate, Sen. Ike Ekweremadu, polled 54 votes to emerge winner.

let wait and see but font complain why all that is planned for the south south and south east are blocked by the North and the Yoruba's look the other side because of people filled with ethnic sentiments; eg. 13% oil derivation that the north is planning to reduce to 8%, the massive development of the south south that the west have placed on Bihar's table & the south east holding sensitive positions but since you prefer deputy senate President then stick with it as politricks just stated. people tend to think Tinubu is beating in the turn out of event but they tend to forget this is just the beginning and people that thinks that saraki and Dagogo had their ways may be on along thing because Tinubu is a strategist and he as not made any comment yet showing it might get ugly has things start unfolding. I believe politricks not politics just started and saraki,Altiku etc who had any ambition to become President of Federal Republic of Nigeria just wasted that opportunity as they never looked at the future but rather lived on the present due to selfish interests not the interest of a better Nigeria. The PDP state/region that voted them in may bear the brunt of what just happened and they shouldn't cry when things start to unfold as it's better that your enemy reveal himself early than you getting to discover too late and saraki & his supporters just helped big time.

Saraki has the charisma and intellectual capacity to rule as Senate President but his records belie his mantra of change. Let us all watch the drama unfold because it isn't over yet. Bukola Saraki has just robbed Nigerians of good governance again. Mind you, I'm not against him as a choice president of the senate, infact I supported his candidacy from the start and I was glad at the first news of learning he was elected.

However, he went the wrong way with the kind of politics he just played. My opinion is that, rather than focusing on (good) governance, both parties will now have to start playing (dirty) politics which has always been known as one of the greatest problems in Nigeria. God help Nigeria
