Can we get the list of documents the immigration officer asked you. Thanks In advance
Belle110:
LANDING GIST

Short landing gist my people, so I travelled from Ibadan to Lagos on the 5th of August and got to the airport around 10:30 am.

The first immigration officer checked my passport and told me to get in. Then I went to the EgyptAir counter. The immigration officer checked all my documents and all, scanned them and told me to go weigh my bags. A woman(another immigration officer) coordinating helped me with my bags( I gave her small money after sha).
My bags were on point, with no excess luggage or whatever. After I was issued my boarding pass to Cairo and from Cairo to Toronto.

We took off by 3:00 pm WAT and got to Cairo around 10-11 EEST, the layover was for five hours and we took off from Cairo to Toronto by 2:30 am EEST.

The food on both planes is kind of meh… Manageable and somewhat Ok.

We finally got to Toronto by 7:20 am EDT.
Now, this was the test of faith part, the queue was sooo long, I thought I will die from standing, later, they told all of us with a study visa to come to another place. We stayed there and queued there. That’s how another female immigration officer came to collect all our letters of introduction, then we were asked to sit down.
Omo, na me first get to the seat.

It was very easy, they just called our names, confirmed our date of birth and viola, I was given the study permit. They didn’t even check other documents.

The process was smooth and no hiccups whatever, but Canada is far sha.

EgyptAir broke my medium luggage at the lower side ooo, I have sha asked for compensation. Hopefully, they reply me soon.

Toronto is beautiful and quite hot now.

Ps: Just take all your documents and relax, nothing to really stress about. Having the right documents will make the process as smooth as silk for you.

The journey is worth it guys, for those waiting, I believe you will get it soon.
I appreciate all the info I have gotten here since DAY 1. Blessings to all the legends!!!

Please how can I join The nigerian association in new brunswick,as I'll be arriving in few weeks
olasubomy:

I would have advised you try to wait a little while in Nigeria and get it done once and for all but dropping the expiring passport is not an option since that's where your visa is stamped.

1. You can go ahead and travel with your passport. You will sought it in Canada. The Nigerian Association in New Brunswick do collaborate with the Nigerian High Commission in Ottawa to assist Nigerians in the province who need to renew their passport. They just recently concluded an exercise but not sure when the next one will take place.

Once you get to New Brunswick and join the WhatsApp group. You will be informed when they are going to start another exercise.

2. Another option is you starting the online process in Nigeria as some guys have advised and then you come and continue in Canada.

You can weigh your options. All the best with classes!

Please how can I fill my declaration form online to avoid queueing?
Scott99tish:
Landing Gist !!!

Well, I was aspiring to type lot of story but my trip was quite short and simple than expected. No much questioning at allll.
Airline: Egyptair
Time: 14:00 on 2nd of May 2022

I got to Airport at 9am to avoid crowd ahead of travel time. I was the second person attended to for boarding pass.
Baggage: 29kg and 30km
Hand luggage: 12kg

I had lot of loads that I couldn't afford to drop some as I did some cargo ahead self for my fiancée in Toronto, That's why I had lots still. So I did bargain with the personnel who did calculation and said I will pay 75USD for extra to upgraded baggage of 32kg. I used Naija way reduce ham to 50USD as I hid some other baggage earlier sef. It was more. So we sha added all of them to the bags since I've paid. Lot of milk, fish and food items.
Document requested: ArriveCan, Vaccination card, Passport then Got my boarding pass.

I waited with my family for pictures till 12noon before moving in.
Advice, Avoid crowdy entry. A friend here told me to go through Gate E which I did. Very simple. Immigration passed me quickly without much questioning. The man was gisting with me sef giving me the right pronunciation of Toronto that I will blend soon. He checked the Acceptance letter and stamped me.

Money declaration man, He got interested in me that I paid full tuition fee (Big Boy) then We started family gist ooo when I said I am not a big boi. That it is Owo omo oni iru, omo alata, lol. At some point I was avoiding his gist but He was loving it, discussing with a young man about Life. He eventually said Good luck out there, Off you go.

Peace... Got to airline session, the lady there started gist too, then I kept thinking which soap did I use sef that They want to be making friends and not even doing usual Bambiala, Lol... She said Go in peace too.
We left Lagos Exactly 2pm.
Meals and movie on egyptair was great, I ate all. Arrived Egypt at 8:30pm and waited for our 5 hours stopover.
Left exactly 1:30am as they asked same document; Passport, ArriveCan, and Vaccination card.

Ate 3 meals before morning, They have amazing movies. All great. I made an Egypt-Canadian friend on the plane (Husband and Wife) They were awesome. watched same movies, Ate same meal as they were so cool.

Arrived Canada 1:48pm Nigerian time (8:48am Canadian time).
Note: Kindly fill your declaration form online before leaving Nigeria to save you stress. Went to self-declaration machine to scan my passport and I got my ticket once under 20secs.

First level asked me for passport and declaration ticket then Proceeded to another for first time arrival permits. Devil wanted to work small but God gat it under control. We were asked for letter of Introduction; My hands was dried that I needed spit to sort my document (Nigerian way) then this woman just shouted at me: SO RUDE, I DON'T NEED YOUR PAPERS...
I was like Alaye calm down na, I needed to separate my papers na, I had to bring out my hand sanitizer to satisfy her, Yet she said She told me she's not interested in my papers that I should bring just my passport then she went to print it herself, Alakoba.
Avoid using spit for paper sorting.

I was shaking that I didn't even know when I gave her my passport, I think she picked it herself cuz she told me to sit. Then I was looking for passport that Village people don come o.

When I was called, and I saw my passport with the person, then I felt more relaxed.
No much question asked. He just asked me for which school and course then He gave me my study permit and work permit.

Bless God.
Fiancée came to pick me. Drove me home then I realize I didn't waste money. This land is beautiful sha.
I drove later in the evening to get some stuffs like a road learner. Forget your Jason Statham skills in Nigeria, When you reach here, You gatz learn, Lol. So organized.

I wish everyone awaiting PPR all the best. Success !!!

Hi I sent you a message to make enquiries

Male roommate wanted

Hello guys

Flatmate needed from May 1st in Saint John, New Brunswick (Uptown apartment, 9 minutes walk to MBA campus and close to most amenities)
One room is available and goes for $355/month plus utilities(excluding power and internet). This should be good for a student or new immigrant just landing and need a cost-effective place for the next 3 to 6 months (given the way prices of houses have consistently been on the rise).

Interested, hola!

2. What are the likely requirements she needs to provide to secure an admission.

What about changing program after approval, was withdrawn from previous program. What do you think? It's the same DLI though.
makano:
Hello Temmy

So far its the same DLI you applied with that gave you the LOA, It may not be necessary sending them your new LOA. If it were to be an LOA from another DLI, then it will be required of the applicant to inform IRCC even after the applicant have been approved, and this will result in the applicant applying for another study permit application.... But make sure you hold it with you when traveling(together with your receipt of payment of school fees, that is if you have paid though), this is very important because you will be asked several times en-route Canada..

But if you feel like sending it, no crime in doing so...

Congrats and wish you the best in the great white north...

Peace

POSTING MY TIMELINE, got my Ppr last week but have been busy with work.
I got my PPR on October 7,
Second time applicant.
My timeline goes thus,
My first application was done with a consultant in Canada, though I met her in Nigeria when she came for educational fair.
I sent all the required documents to her,I think she submitted the one that pleased her, lol.
Applied December 28,2020
Biometrics date -Jan 4,2021
With NSE requirements which I submitted too.
Refusal came in on Feb 23,2021.
With the below reasons,
1.They are not satisfied I'll leave Canada based on my ties to Canada and my country of residence and
2.Based on personal asests and financial status.

I contacted my consultant, she said she'll request the note to find out the reason for the refusal but I've to pay $1,000 for the note, lol. Before then I've joined nairaland, I was surprised to see how she requested for such amount just for the note. That's where I've to end the business with her.

I decided to order the note myself and find out the reasons.
When the note came out.
They mentioned that I was single, mobile , without any dependants.
They mentioned about lump sum deposit in my account and my brother's own(My brother is my sponsor)
Complained about bank irregularities cus I used microfinance bank, said some font were bigger than each other , that the total Money available will be insufficient overall for the full time study. I applied for four years course though.

However, the lump sum came in millions without any provenance ,both in my own account and my brother's own.

What I did differently.
Yes the money was available but we don't know how to prove it.
First I changed the course to two years course in order for the money to cover the living expenses and tuition fee payment for the two years.
I didn't want to pay any upfront fees , I only paid my acceptance deposit. My brother moved the money to my account all at once up to 50kcad, I even printed the mbs the following day. But I wrote a very detailed letter of explanation. Narrating all the points in the GCMS NOTE and what I did differently to tackle them one after the other.

Documents submitted

ALL NECESSARY IMM FORMS

CLIENT SECTION
Table of content
Study plan
Birth certificate
PCC
IELTS result
Primary school leaving certificate
High school leaving certificate
Reference letters
Testimonial
Waec certificate
Computer college certificate
Recommendation letters,from school and church
Siblings birth certificates/Passport
Family pictures
Affidavit of good conduct
Current working place ID.

PROOF OF FUNDS SECTION
Table of contents
Letter of Explanation (This letter has all the detailed information of how the lump sum was moved with other refusal reasons that's why I've to upload it here)
Affidavit of sponsorship
Letter of sponsorship
Tuition deposit receipt
Reference letter and MBS for brother (showing where the money was moved)
Second Reference letter and MBS ( showing reserved amount 10M)
My own Reference letter and MBS (showing the amount for living expenses and tuition for two years )
Land receipts
Landed documents of my brother
Relationship with sponsor (I uploaded his birth certificate, photos with him and his Int'l passport.)
CAC documents for his business
CA valuation report for his assets.

I did all these from the knowledge I got from nairaland and the one I think might scale through for me, personally. Finally is God that perfected it,because I didn't submit a perfect application but He perfected it in the eyes of the visa officer.
All thanks to JustMellow,he helped answer some of the questions concerning my refusal and best way to tackle them. I emailed him privately. Thank you all too for your contributions,it really helped me.

How many courses did you show the officer?? Reason why he asked which one you're going for ?
Godsfave:
LANDING GIST

Let me start by apologizing for going MIA, a lot of running around.

I got to the Abuja airport around 10am (plenty traffic i wan cry) boarding starts by 11:30am. Met the First Lady who scanned some of my documents (Covid test result and passport), moved to the next queue where they asked what was in my bag and opened to check, the man just scanned through and zipped it back, I moved on to the next queue and the lady requested for my enrollment letter, passport, Covid test result and arrivecan (Omo i filled the arrivecan oo, even printed it out sef) but she said mine had issues and i couldn’t board (in my mind, my village people have found me ooo) she even assigned one of the staffs to help me but to no avail, others had already started boarding and i couldn’t cos arrivecan is a must ooo, finally the lady decided to have mercy and clear me to board without it, I checked my bags in (exact 50kg) I had two hand luggages (a small box and laptop bag) that they didn’t scale or check in. I moved on to board and passed the last groups who didn’t ask for anything asides passport and what are you going for and where. I boarded and we took off, we stopped at Addis Abiba and i boarded another flight to Toronto (we didn’t waste time, just keep reading the signs and locate your next boarding gate) we got to Toronto and first things first, I filled my details into one system and it generated a receipt which i used to proceed,i queued for the first immigration officer who asked for arrivecan and i explained ( he said it’s from the vaccine i took cos I’m fully vaccinated) he asked me to fill on paper this time and that was all, after that I proceeded to the main immigration and it took 1 hour 30 before it finally got to my turn and the lady only asked for passport and letter of authorization, ( she asked which of my courses I’m looking forward to studying and i told her) she printed and gave me study permit, then read the 20 hours work a week rules, omo nobody asked me for how much i had oo or even statement of account wey i carry. ( I had already missed my connecting flight to Vancouver) I went to fly Canada check in and they put me on the next flight which was scheduled to leave in 30 minutes.I had to go pick all my luggages and check them in to my next flight at the Toronto airport, the immigration officer didn’t ask me about vaccine or ask me to quarantine or even where i have in mind ooo(I sha got quarantine update from my arrivecan app and I’ve been filling it daily). I boarded my flight to Vancouver and when i landed there was no more documentation, or anything, I just picked my luggages and ran to my sister. Ethiopian airlines served me 6 meals from Nigeria to Toronto and they were all nice food with any drink of your choice ( I would actually recommend them) plus they had nice movies ooo.

I return all glory to God for making this possible and here is a thank you to my naira land family. Thank you team

Hello guys! I'm new here, I got my ppr but yet to travel. I want to ask between Pharmacy technician and Environmental Technology which will favour me the most in New Brunswick in terms of Job opportunities. Note: I'm going for undergraduate diploma. I just graduated from high school. Please who knows about this province should help me with answer.
Also if I change course in same DLI hope it won't affect anything before I travel.
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 20 by RoyalDukeDon: 10:03pm On Sep 28, 2021
What if someone applies for a new course in the same DLI??
makano:
Hello mhozz

If you have gotten your PPR after getting your deferment, you will need to inform the school that you have gotten your Visa, maybe its possible to still meet up... And if that isn't granted by the school, you can wait till the deferred date cos the Study Visa requires the applicant to travel to Canada within a year the visa was issued...

You do not have to start your study permit application afresh because of this, the only reason for starting a fresh study permit application after getting PPR is when you want to change your DLI...

Hope this helps

Peace

With information reaching us now via pictures of the WhatsApp chat with agent , it appears you filled the form yourself and the agent claimed that all the documents submitted, that your the one that provided them.
So let me ask you, did you provide any forged documents or you tampered with your bank statement, bcus these could be wat led to the ban

Elixosodi:
Good day house,

So today I summoned the courage to email my school for deferment to the winter session and they replied me by saying they dont defer admission except on the ground of severe illness or death of a family member meanwhile none of the above is my portion. They said I have two options which are to resume classes from my home country or I forfeit the admission and reapply.

Dear Guru's in the house what do you suggest I do? Personally, I dont want to pay tuition fee until I see the decision of IRCC.

I am a May 24th applicant and I have ordered for my gscm note to know the current stay of my application. I sent an email today for my gscm note after I filled the form but I didn't get a message of acknowledgement or received. Is this normal?

Did you pay any upfront fees ??
Stephblues:
Really what they say about when it’s your time, nothing can stop it is really true. My story is a testimonial to that fact.

This journey started in 2017. I got back from the US and applied to a school in Texas, got admitted and I went on to apply for visa. I went with confidence thinking, what’s the worse that can happen? I was refused. I applied again and was refused twice again. I lost all hopes of traveling. I decided to look at Canada, unfortunately all the schools started rejecting me. I couldn’t get even one school not to talk of visa. So this year, I decided to change my plans and went for the UK, I immediately got admitted into 3 schools and with scholarships. My hope was restored. But my brother was still bent on me applying to Canada so I decided to give it another try. I applied to Trent and University of Windsor, Trent refused but I got Windsor. So I rushed to apply for visa to beat the May 15th deadline. To cut the story short, God came through for me. Below is my timeline.

First time applicant.
Age: 41
School: University of Windsor
Course: MSc Actuarial science
Submitted: May 12
Biometric request: May 13
Biometric done: May 14
Nse request: May 25th
Upfront Medical: updated to pass June 16th

Nothing else, no ghost update, nothing. I ordered my Gcms notes June 29th, I got it July 30th. I saw recommend interview. The wait continued until today.

I had given up hope that i even started my UK processing. I paid deposit in the Uk because at this point, I was tired, mind and body.

BVL and PPR: August 11 ( This day will forever be in my mind).

I want to thank everyone who has supported me in this journey, you all are angels in disguise. May all the PPR hopefuls get their joy soonest.

It has ended in praise.
