9 Things You Should Know About The Appointment Of MTN, Airtel & Deposit Money Banks As VAT Withholding Agents 1. VAT is a consumption tax charged at the rate of 7.5% on all supplies of goods and services in Nigeria, other than exempted goods or service. Every taxable person shall, upon commencement of business, register with the Service, collect the tax, render returns and remit the tax collected to FIRS within 21 days after the month of collection. 2. Section 14(3) of the VAT Act gives the FIRS powers to appoint any person to withhold or collect the tax from the invoices of its suppliers or service providers and remit to the Service within 21 days of the month following the month of collection. The person so appointed is referred to as “agent of collection”. 3. Recently, the Federal Inland Revenue Service has, in the exercise of its powers, under section 14(3) of the VAT Act, appointed MTN, AIRTEL and Deposit Money Banks as agents to withhold VAT from invoices of their suppliers or service providers and remit to the Service. 4. This appointment is with effect from January 1st 2023. 5. This arrangement is not new to our tax system. Based on the provisions of the VAT Act Ministries, Departments or other Agencies of Government and companies operating in the oil and gas sector have been appointed by the FIRS as agents of VAT collection. They deduct VAT from the invoices of their suppliers, vendors or contractors and remit to the Service. 6. Customers of MTN, Airtel and Deposit Money Banks will not be affected in any form, and the prices of telecom and banking services should remain the same. However, suppliers whose VAT has been withheld by appointed agent are required to declare other VAT due whilst filing their VAT returns on Taxpromax and make payment of amount that is due. 7. Suppliers and Agents who are on-boarded on the VAT automation platforms must remain connected to ensure transparency of their own VAT. 8. This appointment does not affect the obligation of Taxable Persons to render returns or any part of the VAT Act. 9. The Service will release detailed guidelines soon |

Dear men if you want to live long and happy please stay away from this 5 types of women The wrong woman can destroy you, she can make your life a miserable one. Samson thought Delilah was a blessing to him only for him to be destroyed by her. This is the real sign for all men that not all the beautiful girl you meet are their to help you some are there to destroy your life. The fact that if God want to bless you he sent someone into your life and that’s how Satan use to work too. To destroy Samson in the bible, it took only Delilah, not hundreds of soldiers, but only one woman. Women are more powerful than some weapons you know. Please don’t marry this 5 types of women 1. Protect yourself from harmful thoughts Sometimes we develop firm erroneous beliefs, which are extremely difficult to overcome. It seems to you that they are a part of you, but they are not. A person is plastic by nature and can accept any attitude if he forms it long enough and persistently. This ability can be useful. Track down the beliefs that prevent you from living: low self-esteem, lack of opportunity for change, and so on. Ask yourself questions, become your own psychiatrist. For example, if you feel uncomfortable in the company, ask yourself: "Why did I decide that shyness is my natural quality?", "What prevents me from communicating freely?", "Have I always felt squeezed in the company of other people?", "When did it start?". |
Joel resigned from his job as a Branch manager and relocated. #japa The early days abroad were quite tough; he faced the typical challenge of acclamatizing with a new environment-the weather, and issues of job-searching and finding one's way around town. Being that he traveled alone, he eventually managed to settle down on time and got over some of the initial issues. But he remained jobless. After a few months of not finding a job and running out of cash, he started facing threats of eviction as he was unable to meet up with the payment for his rent. Now desperate, he called up a friend back in Nigeria who gave him the contact of his (friend's) cousin who happened to be doing quite well in the same area where Joel was staying. With a huge sense of relief, he contacted his friend's cousin, Dami, who invited him over to stay temporarily with him pending when he is able to sort out a new accommodation. Joel arrived at the address and knocked on the door. When it was opened, he stood face to face with the last person he would have ever imagined - Kenneth!!!! In his shock, he managed to say hello and asked to see Dami. Kenneth smiled, "I am Dami. My family prefers to call my native name Damilare instead of my English name, Kenneth.....', he said. At that point, Joel dropped his head as the memories of how he ill-treated, frustrated, insulted and bullied Kenneth as a junior banking officer 7 years back in the same organisation they had worked together flooded his mind. He felt so ashamed of himself; he knew he had been a toxic leader. What should Joel do? If you were Kenneth what would you do? Let him into your apartment and retaliate? Tell him, "sorry, can't accept you into my apartment" and let him suffer with no money & a place to stay? If you were in Kenneth's shoes, will you treat him back the way he had treated you in Naija or will you simply let him in with your #churchmind? I believe people's responses to this story will help send a lesson to LEADERS on "Who knows tomorrow"..... Let's treat people RIGHT always..... The table might turn tomorrow, who knows. Let's show LOVE in LEADING..... Looking forward to reading your responses ..... Being a while...... Happy New Month ![]() |
Damieadeh:Thank you for your response. |
