I felt the utter dissatisfaction it has to offer. In the start it was fun. The fun was to share with others. Like small stuffs - great quotes, one liners and may be something you creatively accomplished. But, this sharing, the likes, the compulsion to check it again and again if somebody commented. It didn’t had much to offer except the strengthening of the virtual avatar you have created online. The time I significantly spent for the utter nothingness compelled me to disable my Facebook account. It made me realize, that each one of us has so many friends, groups and etc., that each person is bombarded with lots of information, useless information. I spent one year, without any social media. Then, my closest friends made me realize, that talking on phone or meeting is not possible every time. They wanted to remain connected, but they are so busy in their office lives and all. So, they requested me to activate it. I did activate it. But the first thing, I did was to make the reality to be reflected onto my account. I unsubscribed from the groups who were either obsolete or didn’t bring me happiness. Disliked the pages which were no use to current ‘me’. There were around 300+ friends. I deleted them all. And then the only ones, who are my closest remained. They are the ones Who, I really want to know about, where they are, what they are doing, how are they? I only kept them. The closest, which came to less than 20. There are only few which are too close and always remain connected, and other some good friends, which I meet occasionally. I don’t care about the rest of the people, I don’t add a cute face, simply because I don’t know her. I have joined groups which are motivational. I like the quotes from great masters, scientists and philosophers of all time. Now, the Facebook is fun again, I share something I get occasional two or three likes which are from my closest friends. I am happy again. I don’t care about other people self obsessed selfies, the places they visited to just put it on Facebook. I love the occasional photos from my dearest friends who are not self obsessed of their selfies. I love it. Even they are, I love them anyway. “Travel and tell no one, live a true love story and tell no one, live happily and tell no one, people ruin beautiful things.” - Kahlil Gibran Now, the crux of the story is, make the virtual more aligned with reality. And, its a tool, it can either make you happy or sad. Remodel it for your own benefit. For your own happiness. That’s what I did. And then I have also replaced social media, with family time. Which is more often helps me sharing what I have to offer. It makes me happy. |

One CV does not fit All Applications. Candidates who apply to several jobs should note that one CV does not fit all. For Example; You have one CV as a Civil Engineer and you want to Apply for the role of a Builder, an Architect, and a Quantity Surveyor This might not work because there are specific requirements for each role that you need to adjust your CV to fit into. The CV should always be fashioned to the role you are applying for and if you do not have any of the skills required, it is better not to apply than apply to a place where you will not be seen ot better still apply to entry-level roles because you do not have the required skills. When applying for a job, take a good look at the JD of that Job application to know how you fit in so if there is a need to show a spotlight on the skills you have that relate to the application you do that. Remember we are not asking you to lie or change the dates or vital information in your CV. Having the right understanding of Job Applications gives you an edge when applying to various Job Post. |
