Wakanda of nonsense talk is this? So we must do it because the US did it? How about create jobs for your people like the US does! Or respect the rights of your people like the US does! How about you just congratulate the woman and move on, must you always try to sound smarter than you are? She was given the chance, she earned it. Look up her bio if you must. |
Eriokanmi:I disagree with your analysis. If there is a free and fair election, I do not see a scenario where GNO would defeat POI. When GNO and others start talking about how PDP won the last Presidential election in the state, as well as the fact that Edo people do not vote for parties but personalities; here's a spin on that; 1. The vote was a referendum on the APC under his leadership and his governance of the state--He lost 2. By that result, the Edo people rejected his personality, style of governance and whatever he had to offer--PDP as opposition party said that much in their criticism of GNO until "taxes were paid" 3. The face of the PDP was POI, it could likewise be inferred that he attracted the votes in that election, and that the Edo people agree with his personality. In summation; GNO lost to POI in the last statewide election, he will lose again in this coming election. Edo people have rejected once his personality and style of governance, they will have a chance again for a final time in a little over 3 weeks. |

BERNIMOORE:Chief; hope you are following events unfolding now? Hindsight is 20-20, foresight on the other hand is always limited by perspective. |
kestor:Just fyi; "Obaseki's case has become of the sort of man that refused to serve the one true God, but now finds himself bowing before all the gods of the land!" is an analogy, which I assume you got. That said, would you say it will be easier to service the interests of many "godfathers" than servicing the interests of one? Many a politician would wish their godfather is also their party national chairman, but not the one whose pride leads him to believe is bigger than any other. |
This life, most people don't know what they have until it's gone. See the man that was handed a ticket in 2016 on the platter of gold, now visiting every state capital cap in hand. It turns out, the same man that was fighting a godfather, is now bending the knee to multitude of godfathers! Obaseki's case has become of the sort of man that refused to serve the one true God, but now finds himself bowing before all the gods of the land! May we always be able to control our pride. |
BERNIMOORE:I hope you are watching closely as events are unfolding? When we try to explain legalese to you guys in lay terms, you will be arguing based on sentiments. |
moderatedguy:If being called to bar in two different countries is self acclaimed, then you got me! |
BERNIMOORE:I can see you are one of the Tinubu this, Tinubu that crew! Hold still, and see events unfold; watch where Giadom will be when all this settles. |
valentineuwakwe:I can see the reason why Giadom and his gang would hope they can get a court to enforce the order as it were a few months ago; but that isn't the meaning of status quo! When a court grants a suspension of the execution of an order pending a hearing, it means everything and everyone can continue in their capacities, as it were. And when that suspension of the execution that order is lifted at a later date, it then doesn't mean that everything would be rolled back to it's original instance, as it were before the original suspension of the execution of the order. This is premised and predicated on the fact that governance and by extension life, cannot be stopped nor rolled back. Long story short for those that are not intrigued by legal ramblings; Giadom is out of luck. Ajimobi's confirmation, baring any other legal discoveries for now stands. And in his capacity as the next in line would be the acting national chairman. Also, as it relates to Obaseki and Edo state's primaries screening presided over by Oshiomhole; all legally binding on the APC! If you still don't get it; Can Edo state say all the contracts entered into by Prof Osunbor on her behalf are not legally binding? Or Imo state say they will not honor contracts signed by Ihedioha? Exactly! They can attempt to renegotiate it, depending on the incoming guy. Hence the reason Giadom is reaching for the stars here--at least he only has the earth to fall back to when he fails. |
BERNIMOORE:Now you guys are back to that! That's what you guys have been saying for years now, even Philip claimed he had documentary that would be released, the world is still waiting for it. When Obaseki was asked on Channels TV the cause of the fight, was that what he said? You confused lots! It's a shame the Governor listened to the likes of you and look where it got him. Obaseki had no issue with Oshiomhole that couldn't have been resolved quietly over a meal! But like a son that went to a generational family rival and adversary for advice, over a minor spat with his father, he was handed a generational fight with his own father. Alas; the saying is "he who gave you life can also take it away"! Well, Oshiomhole has taken away the political life he gave Obaseki, now let him go find another to give a political life! But you'd know that anyone of substance, anyone that has the power to give "a political life" not empty barrels making the loudest noises, people with political relevance not those seeking to be relevant politically, those people would not be too eager to breathe political life into Obaseki's quickly dying political life based on his antecedents. But then again, you might be one of those political jobbers or their paid internet urchins, that brought him to this avoidable Waterloo. |
As I have said before, it is only a political party that wants to "help him spend some" of the security votes money would give him their ticket. Because, even if by miracle they win the election, there's no guarantee the courts would not take away the mandate and hand it to the runners up, going by what happened in Bayelsa state. And to all those that can't make out the substance of the non-resolute resolutions of the meeting of the progressive governor's forum; that's the kind of statement you make when you start to see the real truth that all you have been trying to defend was a packaged lie! They thought they were fighting for a technocrat, but it's becoming clear to them now that was a package. |
A point comes in every man's life where he has to cancel all the external noise from the likes of this Charles Idahosa, people seeking to "help you spend" money even if the mission is impossible from the get go. Obaseki needs to do what is right for him and stop fighting other people's fight and learn his lessons from this. |
To all those asking him to decamp, do you guys really believe any party of substance will give their ticket to him now? Someone that presented a fake affidavit? Go ahead and see the outcome. |
Just a quick question for all those that misled Obaseki and brought him to this dreadful end, how is he supposed to get the PDP or SDP ticket again? I guess Atiku, Secondus and other party leaders could prevail on Edo state PDP members to adopt him instead of the loyal party members. So Obaseki that had been railing against godfather is going to need another god father? Please explain |
oz4real83:You guys should leave BAT out of this. Many efforts were made to reconcile them; but the governor, egged on by the political neophytes and jobbers he surrounded himself with, refused all entreaties. Let me say a prayer for you--reply with Amen, if you believe Oshiomhole was wrong not to shield Obaseki from his fate this time around. Here go; May all the people you've helped, and will help along the way, treat you the same way Obaseki and his co-travelers treated Oshiomhole! Just respond with an Amen. |
Throwback:Don't mind the nonsense group. A bunch of insincere lots, where were they when 14 elected HOA members of the same party platform as the gov, were not allowed to do their jobs? Where was this same Oyegun then? Where were they when the Gov. ignored recommendation from NASS leadership? Or when he rubbished a committee set up by the party leadership to reconcile the state party? All these were sufficient grounds for disqualification, yet he was given a fair chance to defend his credentials. |
I really hope he makes it through the screening process and get a chance to make his case to the people of the party. I want him to get a chance to explain to the people he would be courting their votes, how not swearing in 14 of their duly elected HOA members is "ground-up" decision making! Also, why isn't the ICE result part of his submitted documents? Because enrolling and being in a school for the duration of a program, does not mean you completed the program. We have seen waec result, UI certificate, NYSC cert, but not the ICE certificate or the HSC, that people are saying he used to get into 200l at UI. To me that's the crucial missing document. We know his waec couldn't get him into 200l, and he couldn't do a 4 year program in 3 yrs using waec; so where's the HSC(ICE) result/certificate? Why not post it and clear the air on all these? |
When you talk political chess moves on this forum, political newbies will be talking political checkers moves! Well, let's see the next move from the Governor's camp now? Ojezua is about to learn what it feels like, when you fail to build a consensus. The politics of divide and conquer is beneath a ruling party that aspires to deliver the dividends of democracy to the electorate. When electioneering is done, a real leader that can unite the party in the state would be elected the new chairman. |
ijustdey:The saying "he who must come into equity must come with clean hands" is what most of these politicians fail to comprehend. |
I don't know about you but this guy gets my vote as the next VP come 2023 and eventual President of FRN 8 years later! I don't know who will get the ticket, but here is a man that has the potential to be a national leader. |
27Pushing30:A bold but desperate move--the twitching of the dying nerves of his political career. It's a shame it's come to this; some of us have been telling him since 2017, that he need better advisers, that he needed to govern by consensus opinion. I remember reaching out to Crusoe, telling him his boss was being sucked up into a political Whirlpool, a wormhole of selfish ideologues. Alas, we have come to this instance in time where they are gazetting an order a law school student knows holds no water. |
emkz:My brother may God bless you and may you always be able to tell truth to power whenever you are tasked at providing such! The truth is they might have exceeded the threshold like you rightly pointed out. I am afraid he's going the route of Ambode politically, yet Ambode didn't even do half of what they have pushed Obaseki to do. He's neither an asset to state party stakeholders/party members nor an asset to his political godfather(s)--a liability across the board. |
And when all efforts at reconciliation have failed, it has come to the point where the party must decide who's more valuable an asset and who's expendable. And I believe the party has made that determination based on the current happenings. It would have been a different case if the governor wanted a direct primary and the NWC wanted indirect primary; in this case it is the NWC that's actually on the higher moral standing. A standing of which I believe the president would uphold based on his antecedents--if at all he takes a firm stance. He probably already communicated that to the Governor when he visited. So for the likes of Osunbor to be calling for people to wade in at this last minute is insincere at best and a tongue in check way of asking for people to prevail on NWC to be partial and hand the governor the ticket. The only thing anyone should call for now is a free and fair primary! Let the Governor go to the same constituencies he refused to swear in their elected HOA member, and ask them to vote for him! To all those shouting godfatherism must die; politics is a game of number, so before you take on a fight make sure you have the numbers to back your up. |
And here we go! After the recent precedence set in the Bayelsa case, tell me who in their right minds would advocate for GNO to be the party flag bearer now? To all of you political neophytes claiming section 308 or whatever of the constitution; the goal of this suit is not to challenge the immunity of a sitting governor, rather to lay the legal basis to screen him out of the primary. If this is true--the forgery case; then GNO better go to SDP, because even PDP will not even sell him their ticket. Think of it, while this was buried in 2016 because he had the backing of the APC political machinery behind him, that is not the case now. So even if he manages to win the primary and goes on to win the general election; there's no guarantee he would be sworn in. |
If this is true, then it goes to show that in politics, when you go for the jugular, like Obaseki and his cohorts did when they went after Oshiomhole's political career; you best finish the job. The truth is every debt comes due, and this is pay back time for the hatchet job they did a few months ago. Sadly enough, their failure then and the resulting outcome of this "cap in hand" expedition is a very glaring reason why both Tinubu and Oshiomhole must not step in front of this train for Obaseki. If they make the mistake of doing so; a year or two from now, it might be both Tinubu and Oshiomhole that will be prostrating in front of Obaseki, and going be antecedents, the world would hear it all. Word on the street is you reap what you sow! Enjoy Emperor-Governor! “There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again.” ― George W. Bush |
I guess may the best man win this time around yeah? POI is GNO's bogeyman from the get go; some in the know believed GNO's term in office was actually stolen from POI--well I guess it's time to reclaim the mandate on the right platform for POI. |
While I commend the effort, I am hesitant to say this is a good development. the reason is simply because these so called PPP agreements have simply becomes tools used by "polithievians" in converting commonwealth into private wealth! If the minutiae of the so called PPP were to be revealed, you would see that the government (people of the state) put up >100% of the total cost (usually through inflated costing of the project), and the so called private partner is there to collect "rent". Why can't the state partner with the department of agriculture at the state institution? Make dem carry go with all this PPP nonsense. |
The moment GNO started taking political advise from political neophytes and opportunistic AGIPs he surrounded himself with, that was when I knew that his second term was up in the air! His emergence as the governor of Edo state against political titans that were ganged up and nominated one of them for the position, was the start of the "party supremacy" doctrine that APC founders wanted to enshrine, after watching the almighty PDP falter due to lack of party supremacy. It is ironic that his fall from political relevance and loss of the party ticket will also further reinforce the message of ultimate "party supremacy". |
@EFCC and @ICPC should in the interest of National Security and prevention of national Economic sabotage, investigate this matter and if found to be true, should hand out the most severe punishments to these banks. |
Why are these governors acting like they preside over sovereign countries within a country? Erecting a physical border on state line should at the very least be against the spirit of the laws of federating units, if not out rightly a violation of the extant laws of the federation. Our nincompoop AG is too busy getting our nation into financial quagmires by signing shady deals with even shadier entities; so he's never available to deal with issues that's ordinarily within the the AG's portfolio. |
OEPHIUS:I shake my head for the caliber of leaders we have in Nigeria. Why do our leaders build "bird nest"/"pigeon holes" to house our institutions? That building that is yet to be completed yet looks outdated already? There are 100 year old buildings around the world that look more modern than that crap. I bet the governor's personal residence, let alone official residence, is not of such low quality! I have seen temporary structures set up within weeks that are better than that. It's time we all start demanding better from these so called leaders! |
