Nigerian needs an emphatic win in Kenya hoping Tunisia loses away to Mozambique.

The chances are open for both Nigerian and Tunisia.
The North Africans if well motivated can beat Mozambique away but truth must be told the Mozambique side that played the Eagles to a standstill could defeat Tunisia and win a nations cup ticket.

Kenya on paper should lose at home but thanks to the lacklustre performance of the Eagles the Kenyans could still garner 3 maximum points and be praised as stopping Nigeria from qulaifying. There is all to play for in the last group matches.

Wish Super Eagles best of luckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk,
sure thing. . . . . as far as i'm concerned. if the Tunisians do not "sort" the Mozambicans then they are putting all their hard-work at risk here - they only need a draw to get to SA but Mozambique is good enough to deny em all three!

mukina2:
I watched the first leg of their match with Cameroun, it was not a bad match, just that Cameroun had more options and Gabon misplaced most of their last touches.
Unlike Cameroun, Togo is an average side IMO and Gabon already defeated 3-0. I watched that too. tongue
I have watched some of Togo's matches too, nothing spectacular , have you seen the teams that defeated Togo? huh
Forget the big names, Some African Teams are no more Minnows.
The only game Gabon won away from home is against the sorry Moroccans in the very first game of the series. . . . . at home, they are much comfortable; away from home - its a different thing entirely. I'm very sure Gabon will not get a result in Lome.

mukina2:
i see Gabon beating Togo in Lome, their team is very good and has improved.
How good. . . . . huh

You probably never saw them over the two-legs with Cameroon. . . . .
SportsRe: 2010 World Cup Qualifiers - Africa by RuuDie(op): 5:21pm On Oct 12, 2009
Groups A & B might well be decided by the contenders for the 3rd place AFCON spot.

I don't see Gabon beating Togo in Lome as long as third place is still within the grasp of the Togolese. . . . . . . Cameroon picking up all three in Rabat is equally daunting but far more realistic than the latter - but I have a feeling the lions can still scale thru with a draw there.

Tunisia away to Mozambique. . . . . almost everybody thinks its cut and dry; but the tunisians might yet get a shocker - very possible. Off the two, Mozambique/Kenya, Kenya on paper are the weaker - meaning the SE have a seemingly easier game on paper and given the fact that the Mozambiquans have a long unbeaten streak on home soil, don't think Nigerians / Tunisians can afford to get too excited just yet.
The mozambicans are in pole for the 3rdAFCON spot; that in itself is enough motivation to give the tunisians a torrid time at home.

Algeria 3-1 Rwanda

Algeria - Egypt go head-to-head next month. . . . . you can feel the pressure in Cairo over this one - they need a win by 4 goals or above to be able to make it to SA'10.

Pheeeew. . . . very big ask!
SportsRe: 2010 World Cup Qualifiers - Africa by RuuDie(op): 5:50pm On Oct 10, 2009
Bizarrely, Naija's group - B is the only group where mathematically, WC & AFCON tickets are still hanging on the balance. Meaning, any of the 4 teams can still snatch by copping 6pts in the last 2 games.
SportsRe: 2010 World Cup Qualifiers - Africa by RuuDie(op): 5:45pm On Oct 10, 2009
Correction on the Group A situation

Cameroon actually need a win to confirm their place at the WC - and that will be away to Morocco; same applies for Gabon away to Togo.

This is a straight-cut affair; both AFCON places already confirmed for Cameroon, Gabon - now is the last mammoth battle for the WC ticket.

Oh, how i wish this last game was between Cameroon & Gabon!

Cristalz:
Nice thread, Ruudie.

Heard Egypt's having qualifying issues, just like Nigeria.
Will be sad if they miss out as well.
thats right, they're actually in a similar position as naija. . . . . 2nd behind Algeria both on 10pts - but Algeria have a game against Rwanda, which they are expected to win. Meaning the Egyptians are effectively 3pts behind going into the last round of matches and they are also behind on the goal counts.
Baring a miracle, the egyptians are out of it. . . . . but it still goes down to the wire sha, lets see what becomes of the Algerian game-in-hand!

Well Gabon don't quite manage to keep a clean sheet - meaning Cameroon might just be needing only a draw from the last game to progress!

Gabon 3-1 Morocco
SportsRe: 2010 World Cup Qualifiers - Africa by RuuDie(op): 5:21pm On Oct 10, 2009
Waoooh. . . . . Cameroon 3-0 Togo
Gabon 3-0 Morocco

This group is going down to the wire - very interesting!
SportsRe: 2010 World Cup Qualifiers - Africa by RuuDie(op): 4:51pm On Oct 10, 2009
The Indomitable lions are tearing Togo to shreds. . . . . 3-0 with over 30mins to go.

Gabon 1-0 Morocco

if the moroccans get something in that game, then Cameroon are in SA'10 with a game to spare. . . . . . MINT!
Sports2010 World Cup Qualifiers - Africa by RuuDie(op): 4:48pm On Oct 10, 2009
The CIV are in SA'10. . . . . . late Drogba equalizer saves em from defeat in Blantyre and send em into the WC MLW 1-1 CIV

You dont win a game of football by doing so. . . It can be very damaging in most cases!
The italians were hit on the counter-attack. . . . . by a Hungarian side that was a man up, don't u find that ironic!?

chic2pimp:
Absolutely. One note of caution though,if the germans use the same tactics they used vs Nigeria, they'll get annihilated.
Nothing wrong with the tactics. . . . . they won, didn't they huh grin Anyways, am putting my smart cheddars on the Nazis to win!

What really cracks me up about this match is the 1st equalizer by the Germans. . . . . . . where the Bleep was the goalie running to huh

Heck that ball was toe-poked str8 down the middle where the fool shoulda been standing!!!!!huh?

Italy - Hungary. . . . . Crazy match - wonder what that ref was thinking!?

I feel the italians only had themselves to blame; after pegging it back to 2-2, they could have just sat back and tried to see the game thru to penalties - well, i feel that was the safer route to go and a more surer path to victory too.
But it was kinda brave off em to stay positive, souljah on and attack the hungarians the way they did in the second half of ET - they really didn't deserve to lose but s****t happens!

@ Dayo,

I beg to differ; that Juve team is solid. . . . granted they do have frailities but i'll say its not in the centre of defence, its mostly when Carceres plays - Melo does a helluva job covering that defence and they have a decent bench. They've got hard workers like Poulsen, Camoranesi and that Giovincco guy is a whiz. . . . .

The mix is just right - youth, experience, creativity and some darn good goal poachers!

@ krayola,

u missed oh. . . . it was really interesting u would wonder how it ended goalless - the Milan defence was in absolute tatters; there was even a time that Rivas guy dribbled past Gattuso and cut the ball back away from a sliding Kaladzhe who ended up slicing down his own man, Abate, at the edge of the din - it was so hilarious, yet so embarassing to see such great players be made nonsense of by a smallie who's barely 20!

@ TKB417,

I dey feel u. . . . many of us still prefer Siasia to Amodu; in fact, no be lie Siasia appears a better coach than Amodu but im no fit run away from blame.

Me, I was a very big fan of BBC lions of Gboko in the days Amodu was "the man" - i know wetin Amodu don do for naija football. . . .  even up till now.  But becuz im dey on d verge of losing WC ticket, even some of im paddy don become im enemy, forgetting sey our SE under am neva lose match since. . . . . .  even me i no fit remember

I been jus dey wait make Sia1 Bleep UP make i hear wetin my people go yarn - now i don hear!

Let us forget past glory and focus on the bare facts; he had a fantastic run in the last U-20s but here, Siasia was absolutely clueless as to how to manage the situation and this is with the U-20s. Hmmmm, how im go fit cope with the pressures of the SEs!?
That is not to say i don't want Sia1 to take-over the SEs; in fact, i want. . . . i'd rather have our local coaches handling our national teams so that they get very good experience with time and this will be very valuable to our football in the long run.

But we have to call a spade, a spade. . . .  if we are giving Amodu such a torrid time when his team result-wise isn't doing so badly; then Sia1 deserves same too - this is absolutely appaling!
