Bolton Wanderers' long pursuit of Paul Robinson is finally at an end after the club completed the loan signing of the West Bromwich Albion defender. The two clubs had been at odds for weeks over the valuation of the 30-year-old left-back. West Brom were believed to be holding out for £1m while Bolton were only prepared to offer half that amount but the player has now joined Wanderers on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent transfer. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=660383&sec=transfers&cc=5901 |
England midfielder David Beckham has criticised the "unprofessional" conduct of Los Angeles Galaxy team-mate Landon Donovan after the USA star publicly suggested he had shown a lack of commitment to the club and the MLS. Beckham has returned to the Galaxy after a five-month loan at Italian giants AC Milan and is seeking showdown talks with Donovan over the comments made in his book; 'The Beckham Experiment'. "It's unprofessional," Beckham blasted on his return to the USA. "In 17 years, I have played with the biggest teams in the world and the biggest players and not once been criticised for my professionalism." Donovan claimed the former England captain was a poor leader and that his interest in Major League Soccer had faded, despite being paid 'more than double anybody in the league'. Beckham responded by saying: "In every football player's eyes throughout the world it would be unprofessional to speak out about a team-mate, especially in the press and not to your face. "It's important to get this cleared up, and I will be speaking to Landon either this evening or over the next couple of days." Being in Italy helped Beckham keep his game sharp. And even though it involved a month-long saga of negotiations involving MLS, Milan, and the Galaxy, Beckham said it was for the best. He also said he would do it again in 2010 if given the opportunity, so he can make one last World Cup appearance with England. "To be involved in the World Cup and to be involved with this England squad, I have to give myself the chance to be at that top level. I'll do that personally and anything to do that. It's just saying that for the moment, this is what I need to do. It doesn't mean I'm running away from a project I believe in." "I think the experiences I've had can only help this team," Beckham said. "I'm personally very professional when I am on the field. I don't care what people say about me off the field, once I'm on the field I'm professional and if there is a chance for him to score, I will be giving him the ball. Me and Landon will talk, but that will be a private conversation." http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=660369&sec=global&cc=5901 |

Real Zaragoza have completed the signing of Jermaine Pennant after his release by Liverpool. The former Arsenal youngster passed a medical with the Spanish outfit on Thursday and will join their bid for survival next season after being promoted back to the Primera Division. The 26-year-old becomes Zaragoza's first signing of the summer and joins for nothing on a three-year deal. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=660026&sec=transfers&cc=5901 |
Liverpool have signed French left-back Chris Mavinga from Paris St Germain while forward Nabil El Zhar has penned a contract extension. Mavinga, 18, can also play in the centre of defence and has represented his country at under-18 level. El Zhar, 22, is the latest Reds player to sign a new deal and he has committed himself to the Anfield club until 2012. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=660266&sec=transfers&cc=5901 |
Manchester United have not bid for Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero, according to club president Enrique Cerezo. Reports claimed United made an offer of £30 million plus Portugal winger Nani for the Argentina international. The 21-year-old striker is under contract with the Liga outfit until June 2012 and has a 55m euro buy-out clause. "Manchester United have not made any offers for 'Kun' and we will not sell any player," Cerezo told Marca. "We don't want to sell any of our players. We will keep all of our players because we are very good as we are and we have a great team." http://eurosport.yahoo.com/11072009/58/premier-league-atletico-united-aguero-bid.html ------------------------------------------ Wonder where the cash plus Berbatov gist came from ![]() |
Fraizer Campbell has chosen Sunderland over Hull City after signing from Manchester United for what could rise to £6 million. The 21-year-old agreed a four-year deal after he passed a medical at the Stadium of Light. The initial fee will be £3.5m but add-ons could see United earn almost double that for their academy product. |

I wonder why ladies never learn - in the end, most often than not, they lose both ways in situations like this. Its happened to me before with my elder bro and an ex; long time ago but me & my brother, we're tighter than ever. in fact, 3 days after the incidence we was back on talking terms. . . . . but no such luck for the broad!? soon as i walked in on em, she was antiquated history! |
Woow. . . . that age gap is MASSIVE - absolutely MAMMOTH; just too darn un-ignorable. Truth be told, he's way too young to even know what he wants. . . . . . just cuz he can produce flashes of brilliance doesn't make him mature beyond his age. We're talking two different generations here and somehow, it just won't jell! |
MVP's and best players are not selected based on POTENTIAL. . . . . it is based on PERFORMANCE and for me, the most of the US players did exceptionally well. I'm not saying they have become best in the world all of a sudden, but with respect to this particular tournament, they performed far better than most other players. Kaka, Robinho, Pirlo, Torres etc - didn't give very much to be thrilled about! |
biina:Granted. . . . he doesn't have to; he should try playing for S'oton, Stoke or Sheffield and lets come lets see what the goal ratio will look like! biina:Does Berba play as a conventional out 'n out striker for UTD ![]() while you're cracking your peanut brain over that - try checking Berba's stats when he was Hunte's age will you!? biina:I won't be surprised if he joins UTD and y'all come back on your hands and knees with a #100m offer in the winter transfer window biina:Still better than 100 Drenthes! ![]() |
khanye:True. . . . Berba's light years ahead of him! |
amy120705:u neva answer my question = you haven't answered the question |
I don't doubt his ability. . . . . but I doubt the level/quality of the opposition out there now; with the exception of just a handful of guys, the rest are just not in it! Seems like back in the day, there was much more opposition out there - bigger rivalries pretty much like derbies - nowadays !? Well, not taking anything away from Fed; he's been phenomenal xpecially in these days when the calendar is loaded with so many games to play in a short time. |
juan roman riquelme |
@ biina, maybe Hunteelaar should go play for Bulgaria first, then we can start comparing goal ratios! |
For every Schole , Giggs and Ronaldo we have the Djemba, David reBELLION, Liam Miller, Chris Eagles, Diego Forlan and Klebersonsome of who are still very much around and don't seem to be doing badly! |
RuuD is 33 yrs old now and how old is Hunteelaar ![]() |
next in line for me to read - Midnight crew by John Sanford |
Only "big" player I'd like to see in UTD if we have to sign 1 is Samuel Eto'o! |
Aguerro for Berba + cash. . . . that'd be absurd - I'd take Berba's languid approach play anyday, anytime! |
Eastbay:Won't say Hunt is a mediocre & the report hasn't said anything about him wanting to go to Stuttgart; all that's been said is RM have agreed a fee with Stuttgart and the deal is resting on the player's agreement. I never given much to the lad, but of late I've really yearned to have him dorn UTD color's not cuz I think he's fantastic but cuz I feel he's decent enough and thats the UTD I want to see next season. . . . a team of decent players, no superstars, no big-money buys! |
erhhhm. . . . lets talk WATER POLO! |
I'm reporting u to crizwhich one - Okotie, Oyakhilome or Mba ![]() |
