This is a MAJOR development in the Niger Delta war. With this audacious attack on Nigeria' commercial capital, located miles from the oil fields, the Niger Delta War has now officially expanded to become the Second Nigerian Civil War.Lets see how this MEND folks will fare farther inland in the land-locked areas. . . . its about time they came outta their shell anyway! |
"When we least expect it, life sets us a challenge to test our courage and willingness to change; at such a moment, there is no point in pretending that nothing has happened or in saying that we are not ready. The challenge will not wait.” Paulo Coelho |
Disappointingly, it seems the public war of words between David Beckham and London Donovan has come to a close. At every stage, both players have been at pains to say that such matters should be discussed man-to-man, before promptly continuing their bickering match through the press. Donovan: "Maybe he's not a leader, maybe he's not a captain. Fair enough. But at a minimum, you should bust your ass every day. That hasn't happened. And I don't think that's too much for us to expect. Especially when he's brought all this on us." Beckham: "In every player's eyes throughout the world it would be unprofessional to speak out about a team-mate, especially in the press, and not to your face." Donovan: "I'm not going to apologise for the way I felt. What I feel badly about is that I should have been a man and told David how I felt as opposed to telling a reporter." Beckham: "It's over. I'm not going to talk about what was said. That's between me, Landon and the manager. But it's finished. It's over. So we move on." |
. . . . . . . . The best City can hope for this season is a top-four finish, but it will all depend on how quickly the new arrivals settle. Mark Hughes has a huge squad and there is bound to be a certain amount of bad feeling from the players who have stuck with them through the tough times. Stalwarts like Richard Dunne and Stephen Ireland are not going to feel too good if they end up on the fringes, and Hughes has a real job on his hands keeping a united squad, particularly with the big influx of egos. He has about eight strikers, and at any one time six of them are going to be angry at not being in the team. The team has to gel quickly. After all, Chelsea spent many millions of Mr Abramovich's money on players, but owed their success to discipline and organisation. It doesn't matter how many superstars you sign, that is the cornerstone of any successful side. Sparky has a tough job and he knows it. He starts the season with an axe hanging over his head. The reality of modern football is that, if you spend other people's money, you need to produce instant results whatever the difficulty. I think the first 10 games could make or break their season, so a fast start is imperative. |
Tevez let United fans down I am a big fan of Carlos Tevez and I was disappointed to see him go to Manchester City. If he'd gone to a club of equal or bigger stature to Manchester United, it would have been understandable, particularly in light of United's reluctance to offer him a permanent contract. He had the opportunity to sign for Liverpool, Chelsea, Inter Milan or even Real Madrid, and he would have been competing for silverware straight away at those clubs. But when he says he is going to City to win things, it just doesn't add up. However ambitious the club's owners, it is fanciful to suggest they could compete for the Premier League this season. Sir Alex Ferguson's suspicions that a deal was done with City in the winter will increase the feeling among United fans that they have been let down by somebody they adored. They gave Tevez an incredible amount of support, and insisted that the club made an effort to keep him. But he turned United down to go to their near neighbours, and you can only conclude that money was his motivation. Throw in the possibility that he knew as early as January that he was off to City, and he may get a hot reception when he returns to Old Trafford. Of course Tevez's agent Kia Joorbachian, who basically owned him, had an interest in him taking the most lucrative deal - but in the end it is the player that signs the contract and neither of them would have gone hungry had he taken any of the other offers. . . . . . . . . http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/football/paul-parker/article/10624/ |
City new boy Tevez slams Ferguson New Manchester City signing Carlos Tevez has fired a parting shot at Sir Alex Ferguson, accusing the Manchester United manager of not communicating with him. The Argentine completed his move to City for £25 million on a five-year deal after undergoing a medical on Tuesday morning, having left United at the end of last season. During his presentation at the City of Manchester Stadium, Tevez denied Ferguson's claim that he had ignored two text messages relating to the offer of a new contract by United, and said the manager only spoke to him once in two years at Old Trafford. Tevez said: "I was there for two years, and Sir Alex never called me or sent a text message. "The only time he talked was after the match against Roma (in 2007/08) because we needed to talk about me playing for Argentina, and I don't think this is the way to treat a player who is at the club for two years. "There was no line of communication." Tevez also denied the suggestion, mooted by Ferguson, that a deal was done with City in January. The 25-year-old said he had moved to Eastlands because he wanted to work in a more supportive atmosphere, and had not been motivated by money. He said: "I want a club and a manager that wants me, and a good environment around me. Money was not a factor." Tevez added that "a part of my heart" would always belong to the United fans who campaigned vocally for him to stay at Old Trafford throughout last season. http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/14072009/58/premier-league-city-new-boy-tevez-slams-ferguson.html Does that sound like a reason that makes any sense As much as we gbadun u reash, tevez u Bleep up! ![]() |

but i wonder sha, why the outrage over Donovan's public remarks. . . . probably nobody would have listenened to him in the locker rooms since no one had the guts to speak up!? what's wrong with publicly lamblasting your colleagues; seems to work wonders in really shaking and making em sit up somehow!? |
Haba Donovan didn't write the book. . . . anyways, they seem to have patched it up now; lets see if Becks actually repents and improves on the field of play or are we g'onna hear another tirade from the All-American Super-hero!? http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/14072009/3/beckham-donovan-settle-squabble.html |
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is reportedly stalling on his move to Stuttgart from Real Madrid as he waits for Spurs to make a concrete offer. The German side have tabled a £16m bid but Huntelaar is not happy with the wages on offer and would also rather play in England. |
Tottenham are being tipped with a shock swoop for former Arsenal hero Patrick Vieira. The 33-year-old is set to leave Inter and Sunderland were thought to be an option after Birmingham were ruled out. But after the sale of Didier Zokora, boss Harry Redknapp wants some experience to bolster the midfield. . . |
The Blues are planning a gigantic bid to land Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Chelsea are planning a sensational swoop for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, according to The News of the World. Apparently, the Blues are ready to offer €70 million plus Ricardo Carvalho and Deco, the Portuguese pair in whom the Nerazzurri have expressed interest. Ibrahimovic is well aware of the London club's interest, saying, "I am fully aware that Chelsea want to sign me and, of course, it is very flattering. "They are one of the biggest teams in Europe and the Premier League is one of the best leagues in the world." If the deal goes through, it will more than double Chelsea's record transfer fee, when they paid €34m for Andriy Shevchenko. Chelsea would also have to match Ibrahimovic's current wages of around €12m per year, but the Swedish striker insisted that a potential move was not about money. "Money is not the most important thing," he continued. "I will base my decision on what's good for me, what suits me. "It is about asking: will I still be able to be special in the league that I am going to, the team I am going to? Are my qualities right for the Premier League or not?" http://www.goal.com/en/news/9/england/2009/07/11/1377285/chelsea-plotting-70m-plus-deco-and-carvalho-swap-for-inters |
Xabi Alonso is reportedly Real Madrid's number one transfer target to strengthen the centre of the midfield, but the Spanish club and Liverpool have so far been unable to settle on a sum for his services. Negotiations between the two clubs for Xabi Alonso are currently in an impasse after Liverpool requested €47 million for the midfielder they signed in 2004 from Real Sociedad. But with 'Los Blancos' uninterested in going beyond the €27m mark, they have reportedly turned their attention to other targets, such as Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas, who is also being followed by Barcelona. According to AS, Liverpool have told Real Madrid Xabi Alonso will now be allowed to leave for €35 million, a figure the Spanish giants are reportedly refusing to pay after being 'insulted' by the midfielder's initial price-tag. Meanwhile, news daily Marca reports that Xabi Alonso himself called Liverpool coach Rafa Benítez on Friday to ask him to be allowed to sign for Real Madrid, just one day after the Spanish tactician publicly criticized both Xabi's and Javier Mascherano's lack of commitment to the club. http://www.goal.com/en/news/9/england/2009/07/11/1376666/liverpool-to-accept-35m-for-xabi-alonso-report |
ritchboy:The fact AW brought out ur club's hard-earned cash to buy Mikael Silvestre of all people makes this your declaration all the more pitiful! |
Fine. . . . . without Tevez and Ronaldo, on paper, UTD has lost a lot of menace - but players come and go; teams solja on! Granted, Owen / Valencia are not as good a replacement for those guys individually but in the end it all boils down to how well the entire team plays, how well they jell! Same applies to Real Madrid and everyother team is thats buying whatever from wherever; they can buy all the best players in the world but if they can't jell and play as the best team in the world then. . . . . . . . . |
Donovan is an idiot and a bastard gold digger! If he truely wanted to be honest why did he have to write a book "The Beckham Experiment" ? Whats wrong in just giving interviews to the media? He wants to create hype for the book and make a quick buck. The truth is DAVID BECKHAM SELLS and donovan is just trying to cash in using "honest criticism" as an excuse. Screw the f.ucking gringo!
take am easy. . . . . Donovan didn't actually write the book, he was only quoted in the book! |

Such honesty is not out of character for Donovan, someone known as a stand-up sort who has called out himself and teammates in the past for subpar performance. He's one of the best in the sport about providing thoughtful answers to media queries -- as opposed to regurgitating bromides and truisms. Sometimes the truth stings, but Donovan has always been willing to deliver it.http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story?id=659791&sec=mls&root=mls&cc=5901 hmmmmm |
