Look how that turned out. Then the same attitude to breaking the club record for Mata, even though we had more pressing needs and were stocked in that position. Now the same attitude again with potentially signing Di Maria.

Di Maria is looking for a pay day. We won't just shell out a big transfer fee, but also a wage that would put somewhere behind RVP and certainly ahead of Mata. Meanwhile we will still have to hand juicy contracts to fill the gaping voids in the squad barring massive improvements from certain players.

So we sign Di Maria and switch to 4-3-3 (despite the fact the LVG has said numerously that our base formation will be 3-5-2). Where will our club record signing fit in this 4-3-3. We didn't break the club record to bench him, or shunt him out to the wing, else we would have left him at Chelsea.

Di Maria as talented as he is, isn't worth the monies and accompanying headaches he will bring. Use that money to bring in a quality, experienced central defender, or a younger, more energetic central midfielder that fills an obvious hole regardless of what formation or tactics we employ.

coogar: our biggest issue is our injury curse. we can sign the whole madrid players & barca players, of what use would they be if they cannot be fit to play. as we speak, we have 8 or 9 first team players injured & that has been the case for more than 7 seasons now.

elampiro: * I always think when Rooney is played as a top 9, he's being under utilized. To play him in top two with Chicha is a shortage to the team. Under SAF or Moyes, Rooney would have dropped deep today.

* RVP is almost like Chicha. RVP could have less than 20 touches in a match. I think the formation might not suit us iunless Welbeck is one of the top two men or Rooney and RVP strike a good partnership. Otherwise, if it was what I saw in USA, then only one of Rooney/RVP/Chicha should play in the front two.

* May be Gaal has to change the formation so that we play either RVP or Rooney upfront. Chicha is always better as a super sub.

Dadehmola: From the look of things, the defence might not be our only concern if our no10 isn't ontop of his game - We may actually find ourselves struggling to create chances. I can't remember Swansea'a keeper having any save to make that's worthy of mention. That we played at home even makes it worse.

montelik: I am not calling for him to loaned out or criticizing him, he was one of the main reasons we equalized. Just noting that as of now he has more of the style of a winger. No doubt with time he will mature and maybe become a true no 10. But I see his development going more like a Giggs or CR7 rather than a Nedved or Mata as of now.

Mata was worse than terrible. Honestly I never was big on us signing him (cost way too much and money better spent on a true area of need). Not because he isn't a cracking player, but because we have a cheaper slightly different replica already (Kagawa). Mata's display today was worse than any off the notable poor displays Kagawa has given out of position, that had the media and his critics baying for his blood. So why again did we pay almost £40m, when we could have gotten Eriksen on the cheap and used the rest to bring in some true central midfielders, wingers or fullbacks.

Dadehmola: Rooney should leave the hole for the specialists. Rooney isn't good enough for the hole. I agree.

Based on our lethargic performance in the final third, I need your analysis on the performance of the supposed "specialist in hole matters( our record signing)"

the formation gave us plenty of the ball but we failed to sting swansea with all the possession we had.
