Good game... Krychowiak is very good investment. The only minus was the lack of pace and urgency going forward, otherwise I think this unit will be fluid when they finally hit the ground running.

Keep your eye out for the Sevilla #4, Krychowiak... 2-3 seasons from now, that guy is going to be very, very sought after!

montelik: Of course Woodward is partially responsible. This was the same guy who decided to stall on following up the work Gill had done and passed on to him, by not making early bids for Strootman, De Rossi, Cabaye, Thiago e.t.c. Instead he was wasting time chasing Fabregas while allowing our targets slip away. Fantasizing about gazumping Madrid's signing of Bale. Then stupidly assuming that United would be able to grab cheap alternatives late in the window, believing certain quality players would be become available late, chose to sit on his hands. Leading to the embarrassments of over paying for Fellaini, failing in desperate late bids/enquiries for Khedira, Herrera, Marchioso e.t.c.

I woudn't be surprised if he has told Van Gaal, that he believes we will be better able to get the players he wants late in the window and is deliberately taking his sweet time. Problems is Woodward is not anything like a Daniel Levy or Michel Aulas. I don't trust to him to not end up messing things up by trying to play too smart or bold.
You seriously believe that... the bolded there. You think any manager, especially one of LVG's stature, would accept that - given that it would be coming from a relative rookie in the business.

I still insist that if we are not doing any transfer dealings at the moment, it will be because LVG is not pushing (hard enough or at all) for it !

Unai Emery: "How can we possibly be favourites against Real Madrid? They haven't had much time to train and won't be at their best, but that doesn't mean they're not favourites. Clearly, though, we have the ability to enjoy a great final, and win."

StarBoard: Help me clarify why there is rife speculation asking about LvG 6-7 players to go?
Did we suddenly become broke?

More like Woodward acting incredibly silly as usual.
He only knows how to get sponsorship deals. If OMO washing detergent is available he won't hesitate to snap it up as a sponsor.
He should learn from David Gill.

It wouldn't have been so if Woodhead didn't open his mouth and promise signings near world-record territory.
He said he was jetting back from the preseason tour. Wetin come happen?

I agree we need signings, especially at the back.
I don't expect LvG to think all is well. Which is why there is apprehension especially since the new season is about to kick off.
Everything still boils down to what LVG wants... and at this stage is there anybody who can categorically come out and say LVG wants! Woodward only wields the cheque-book and will only go to negotiating tables that he is sanctioned to go.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by RuuDie(m): 11:49am On Aug 12, 2014
MrTA: You want to aportion blame for what we dont know about?
StarBoard: LvG can't sign someone if Ed Woodward doesn't appear willing to play the politics involved in signings.
The same Woodward who has gone silent on the transfers after promising that we should "watch this space"?
Not really...if LVG says "he is ok with the squad"; will the management still go ahead and buy or go into negotiations!?

The way things are now, its either LVG has settled on the above or all parties involved (LVG, Woodward & co) are just being incredibly tight-lipped about our transfer dealings.
All the abuse on Woodward is uncalled if we do not know for sure if some of these names being bandied around are even in MUFC agenda! By reputation, LVG is a "hard man" - if he is unhappy about the handling of transfers so far, I bet you we would have been hearing the rumblings on the horizon.

Anyway, lets wait and see... personally, I want two able, experienced defenders - in Smalling, Jones, Evans - I have absolutely no iota of confidence; especially with this "new" system.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by RuuDie(m): 9:59am On Aug 12, 2014
I think we should be questioning LVG more on the issue of transfers rather than trying to blame Woodward (or whatever his name is) because we do not know for certain what LVG is up to... has he (LVG) given the CEO any "wish-lists" of targets for acquisition or made any such mentions!?

I hope LVG is just saying that to make his defenders feel good - perhaps, he sees something we don't but in the first half, they were as nervous as six-year olds on their first day in a new school every time a Liverpool attacker was near whenever they had the ball. Kind of reminded me of Liverpool in their first season under Brendan... I guess they will come good eventually, it takes practice!

elampiro: From game 1 to game 4, he did well. I don't know of game 5.
He didn't control the ball well in game-5.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by RuuDie(m): 9:28am On Aug 05, 2014
It was an impressive second half performance, far improved from the first which was poor... these lads clearly still have a lot to learn under the "new system" especially at the back. In the first half, Liverpool put us under pressure from passing out from the back and the CBs were clearly not comfortable; they made lots of mistakes that would have been very punishable if this was a "serious" EPL match. We may just need two solid, ball-passing CBs if this will work else we should ready ourselves for "Kolo Toure like gaffes" - Sterling's pace and Coutinho's trickery also troubled those CBs too much.

The passing in the middle wasn't very fluid mostly due to Liverpool pressing; Fletcher, Mata, Herrera tried to keep the ball and move it around. But the play was not incisive enough and very slow - more European than EPL tempo. Hernandez did not get any service - particularly through balls that he could race onto. We still posed more threat from whipping in crosses into the box - not surprising!
