Johnpaul88: I prefer Neymar to Bale for Barca. Bale is very good but if he loses his pace, he's finished. I don't like such footballers. And when CR7 loses pace...!!? |
Shirt sales cannot be based on the letterings sold... The clubs are in the best position to present more accurate figures because most of them manage the supplies of their shirts. |
montelik: I really hope Giggs constant starts are not going to continue when the main action begins. With Nani getting injured every Nano-second...don't bank on it! |
elampiro: For many years now Wayne Rooney's shirt sales and advertising rights have been one of the highest in the sport. Last year it was revealed by Sporting ID, the company that supplies the lettering for the back of the shirts,From what I see there, the folks don't even make or sell the shirts! |
Billyonaire: Wizkid has made more money than Lagbaja will ever make. I guess Lagbaja's music is not selling that he has time to nag online.Dude. Please pass me that kpoli meen...that **ish must be ultra potent! |
@ Elampiro. Just dey console yourself...as you can clearly see RvP has taken over as "fan favorite"! Rooney can go and rot in hell for all we care ![]() Who needs FATMAN when we've got ROBIN!
|
The domestic scene isn't much of a problem; the lack of changes in personnel mostly works in our favor as against the other teams who have bought plenty. But Europe is the daunting task... anyway, Moyes is still every bit a freshman at this stage, I am ready to cut him a very long slack. Hoping for the best but very prepared for the worst! |
The only "hypocrites" I see, are those who verbally mauled Goldie last term but yet see no wrong in Beverly! |
nitlad: Yeah, some hold the silver spoon in their hand. Its not about Bale laying a finger on CR7...it is about Bale doing his own thing, becoming a "superstar" in his own right...and there is nothing that suggests he cannot do it, age regardless. Not all fingers are equal, not everybody develops at the same time and rate; and definitely, fortune doesn't shine on everybody at the same time! |
I don't understand how English/British media hype will overly influenece or encourage Real in Spain to bid for a Welshman...!? Or y'all want to tell me that the folks at Real have no brains? They do not have scouts? They do not know what is good for their club!? They have watched Bale, they have seen what he can bring to the table...and they like it! So it doesn't matter what y'all say - to Real, Bale is worth every penny pay-able else they would have quashed this "alleged" chase since! And yes... Bale is a fantastic prospect. At the very least, he has shown he has what it takes to provide game-changing moments and I believe he will do very well in Madrid! |
nitlad: Sir, CR7 at Bale's current age of 24 was already a notorious serial winner.So...!!? Is everybody born with silver spoons in their mouths? Is there only one road in Lagos that can take a man to Isale-eko!!? |
chistar01: Hmm, Its too early to judge oh. Lets hope the deal goes through for a reasonable amount and see what he has to offer. You are comparing him to CR7 who is a player that has proven his worth endless times. There was a time CR7 too was an unknown, unproven quantity - so what is the point!? |
I think Bale is (and will be) full value for whatever sum is Real decide to cough out! He may not have a locker full of medals but he sure has the potentials to be everything CR7 was and wasn't! |
Martinez in the back is like giving the opposition some form of lifeline. Negredo is hardly the quickest or strongest, should never get the better of him in that situation. Manzukic is an absolute steal for Bayern...very sharp fella. City have a gem in Navas. He is fantastic! |
Do y'all really think Martinez should be playing CB!!? All because Papa Pep wants his "son" to play ![]() |
Zabalete will be having nightmares of Ribery tonight...so will Alaba of Navas ![]() |
Javi Martinez at Center-back vs Negredo. Alaba vs Navas... long thing for that Bayern defence...long, long thing! ![]() |
2013/14 squad - taking shape
|
This whole DM thing is getting too over-rated sef...we will get by if we adopt a "mass" attack/defence approach with emphasis on actual marking/contact rather than the shadow marking and ball watching they do most times. Our wingers are the only ones that defend with any form of conviction most times. By the way, if Fab4 is not forth-coming, I recommend a raid on Sevilla who are always ever ready to sell: Rakitic - vastly underrated player + very versatile + excellent set piece + two good feet + decent pass/ball retention Kondogbia - young, energetic, tenacious, good presence And if we need a bit of "nasty": The Pitbull Medel - simply loco, must be on drugs - covers way too much ground Cala - this fella doesn't know sh*t about footie and doesn't need to. Tough as nails, the perfect hatchetman, commanding presence. Cala + Vida and elampiro can forever kiss his jitters goodbye whenever a cross is floated in our area. ![]() |
elampiro: You will also notice that Terry, Pique, etc score from open play whereas Vidic and Ferdinand only score from corner kicks. From open play even Jones have attempts whereas same can't be said of Vidic and Ferdinand.Pique forages forward than most defenders, yes...but most times, the goals they get (Pique, Terry etc) comes from having moved up during a set-piece situation, no different from Rio and Vida, they just tend to score more thats all. elampiro: Not that our forward don't mark actually, they do, but the problem is that our midfielders can't really stop opponents and I also will pass some blame to the defenders for playing deep. I do see all our forwards always chasing backwards even if they don't do it as much as Barca. Welbeck and Young are easily the best in that aspect of retracking backward. No striker chases back in the EPL as much as Welbeck.Make that Welbeck, Young and Valencia! |
@ Elampiro, You say RvP misses too many chances... permit me to take you back to the season we lost the league on the final day to City - please "appraise" the last 2 games two or three times as is your norm - UTD vs Swansea and Sunderland - and see what your "White Pele" was doing. |
elampiro: If you get a young player who can play many wings and still give result, you are in for a big fortune. Rooney is one such a player.Super! So why don't he just spare us all the grief and play wherever the manager asks him to play since he can "give result" from anywhere...why is he "dragging" to be automatic choice to play in one particular position!? |
debosky: Walcott is 24, Rooney is 28. They are at different stages in their career. A player who doesnt know where he plays best at 28 will never know. Theo has always been told he will evolve into a CF- that change is ongoing. Is Rooney evolving from a striker to a winger or what exactly?Yeah, yeah, yeah. Nucca please. Tell me something that I don't know! Giggs has gone from winger to central midfield at what age!!? By the way, you never answered my question - who determined what Theo's most "effective" position even after he publicly declared his favored position and posted some good displays there? |
debosky: The point is, he is played where he is most effective - not turned into a spare tyre. Now you're speaking with the other side of your mouth! Who determined "the most effective" position for Walcott? Why should Rooney's be any different!? Oga park well jare. Bring the Iya Charlie 50mill and carry go if you guys think he is that special! |
But how can you deploy Rooney to a deep midfield role and play Welbeck, Chicharito and Kagawa upfront in a season players and fans eventually rated him among the six best? You marginalised your EPL most prolific player because you wanted to experiment.@ Elampiro. Just what is your problem!!? Rooney playing on the wing or in midfield? Because if I can recall, you yourself said here that Rooney likes playing in midfield oh! And besides when was Rooney ever deployed into the "Carrick role"? Dude. I usually don't do this...but you do not know sh.y.te! |
coogar: yes, he's a backup.....berbatov was bought for £30m as a backup to the holy trinity in 2009. he missed many top games but this did not discourage him from winning the golden boot later. competition brings out the best in players, it shouldn't make them run. |
elampiro: Walcott is a natural winger. When his mother gave birth to him, did he come out of the womb holding a sign-board with "Natural Winger" inscribed on it!? |
debosky: Nonsense - did Real Madrid buy another striker and ask CR7 to be marking people in a CL game? Did Barca not adjust their team to maximise Messi's output? Nah, instead United bought RVP and relegated Rooney - on the back of a 34 goal season - to a jack of all trades utility player. It was all done on the basis of 'punishing' him for his asking for a transfer, simple. So, what of Theo Walcott nah!? Shebi he prefers to play center-forward...why isn't he feeling confused, angry, disillusioned, mistreated, maltreated? |
Arrivals for the new season.
|
SailorXY: @Elampiro, Rooney isn't mediocre but he will cause more harm than good as things stand. Even most fans that will be @ Old Trafford week in week out next season are disillusioned in him already. The knowledge that he is no longer an automatic choice should have spurred him to lay claim to former glories & prove himself worthy on the pitch. He has chosen his path, the club must move on.My sentiments exactly. As a "top" player, getting benched should make you sit up, work harder and sort of "reinvent" himself to prove his critics wrong. Fine, maybe that is why he wants to move; maybe go to another club show us what we will be missing. But to suggest that it is UTD that is pushing him away is ludicrous. UTD is only challenging him to up his game and be the Neymar, Schweini, CR7 or Messi of Old Trafford. Those guys didn't just attain "god-ship" status by default - they earned it - and they didn't just rest on their laurels they kept it up and kept striving to achieve more! Elampiro and other Rooney fans want his "super-star" status kept intact based on what he has done in the past. It doesn't work - Giggs has given UTD fans some sweetest memories imaginable, but he still gets lambasted consistently regardless - few look at the long-gone past, it is the immediate past, present and future that concerns the most. For me, UTD is not doing anything wrong...Rooney is the erring party here! |
Bash Me: Ok i will Mr. Daft. The correct thing to have said is "If u av ever DRUNK (And not DRANK)Ijebu garri" Drink (Present Tense), Drank (Past Tense), & Drunk (Past Participle). U shud be thanking me now, I jes upgraded yo' arse Daft.I do not think you have provided enough to conclude beyond reasonable doubt that the young man's initial statement was an "ibon"...correct me if I am wrong! |
