Lagos cannot beat Nairobi in anything except Slumpolis. I don't see any much difference with Kinshasa. Nairobi business districts are small in your small mind. Count the number of high rises - Lagos is way below. Count the number of Skyscrappers - Lagos is way below. Count the number of upper class residence - Lagos only has Banana - Nairobi has tonnes.
Nairobi is a very modern city.
68816419: Nigga, Lagos old CBD(that Video of yours) is still far more developed and larger than all Nairobi and Mombasa CBDs, bellow is An hour non repeated drive in Lagos old CBD, still undergoing total reconstruction. Note: some of the Dusty roads are as a result of the numerous ongoing projects on Lagos Island
10K pages and we have not seen that Lagos. The one we see is this one - with super tiny CBD - a little decent VI - maybe two estates - Banana- and the rest is slumpolis.
68816419: Mazze, everything is wrong with that, why do u guys always celebrate the very tiny part of your capital (CBD),? Why not other parts, I could show u video of small parts of Lagos ,Abuja,PH and other parts which are more than an hour plus trip without repetition, can Kenya do same to your CBDs?,No!. we all know that all Nairobi and Mombasa CBDs are too tiny that one could tour them in less than 10 munities . Take a look at some of Lagos's CBDs bellow, showing only some small parts of ikoyi,VI and lekki, with no Banana Island, very large Lagos old CBD (Marina),Ikeja and other parts, u could see how well developed these are, all drainages are covered, Street lights, road markings and other infrastructures of standard roads.
So you only have 800 secondary schools going by your messed up logic. Heck how are junior secondary (now we hear it's actually primary) suppose to transition from 33K to 800 schools No wonder the double track nonsense.
Just30: you cant even read in addition to your stupidity
As everyone can see, junior high school is under primary school and lettered as subsection 2.3 Primary and Junior high schools are First cycle schools
Read ooo Read for the first time in your life dumb children
secondary school is second cycle and lettered as programme 3.0
Traditional authorities. Communist nation indeed. So land is not owned by Ghanians...it owned by traditional kings. Then school is owned and run by churches. Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
Kenya is totally different. Kenya is freehold - everyone own a title to their land. Public school are PUBLIC.
Just30: The church buys it land from traditional authorities
How can you be beyond aid when you are waiting for the next food aid from unicef, turkey and china?
but i digress
The Ghanaian gov't provide feeding, pays capitation grants, text and exercise books, exams fees, build schools and provide equipment, pay teachers and pay for the upgrade in teacher knowledge. Except in international schools
So you're basically a colony of churches. In kenya - churches got land - those days you could say huge land - but look at this - kenya were 6M in 1960s - now 50m - if we depended on land churches got in 1960s - we would be doing double track nonsense - where kid come for 3 months - and go home for 3 months - because Ghana has SERIOUS LACK of education facilities.
Instead Kenya has Africa FIRST 100% primary to secondary transition.
You cannot beat that.
We don't wait for double track system - we DOUBLE THE CAPACITY of the schools.
You should understand one thing, Ghana is not Kenya so read and learn, all countries are not run the same.
In Ghana the early missionaries got so many lands for free. They own huge lands. So what's wrong with Government making use of the missionary lands by building more schools on the lands whilst Government lands are used for other things?
British left you with 6-3-3 right? Church in any serious country CANNOT be allowed to run critical sector like education. What you're generating is criminal-cum-idiot-cum-pastor. No education is going on. Just indoctrination. Ask any Nairobeans - and they will tell you nearly every Nigeria/Ghanian in Kenya - is part-time pastor part-time Yahoo. Education is being able to question everything including God and Pope.
Just30: we dont tax Churches as long as they use their monies to carry out development to the benefit of the general public. Churches deserve to be taxed if they are not providing public service. You are asking why should churches be tax, are churches not money making business?
a church getting into gov't is new to me, elaborate more ...
No wonder y'all are stupid in kenya. Ghana run a 6 - 3 - 3 system.
The curriculum is provided by the GES and sex education has been taught in Ghana since schools began.
who is this pope you keep referring to and what has he got to do with education?
Try chant this GHANA BEYOND AID. No country can develop on your laughable model. Church cannot be allowed to drive gov agenda...because their objective is totally different.
Kenya go to church, they tithe very well, kenyans like mission schools, they charge expensive fees, but we are secular nation.
Kenya is indeed a modern state. Church, military, etc - are not allowed in public sector - in any form.
Just30: The fact that the church is developmental in Ghana shows how development minded we are as a people.
While your Kenya is 90% Christian, all the church money is funnel through private pockets
Here, Church collections and donations develop communities they are in.
Public schools in kenya are run by parents. Parents appoint a school board - BoM - Board of Management - with chairman now required to be the graduate. The secretary is the school principal. Gov deploy and manages teachers, textbook, equipment's and works. BOM - are responsible for managing the school infrastructure. They can decide to fund raise or seek funding from gov. These are PUBIC school.
Private schools include mission, academies, grammar schools, international schools. They receive ZERO gov funding or help or teachers or anything. Parents pay expensive fees for that reason.
Just30: I said 30,000 primary schools, majority of which are private schools and followed by public schools.
Keep dreaming, you think we are dysfunctional like your nations where people run the street screaming Jesus because of a cloud...
Gov't control the schools and curriculum here too, make another point.
In all schools, morning assemble is compulsory on Mondays and any other day of the week.
Can a muslim be admitted to catholic school and be allowed to pray in a mosque? It appears that you've allowed churches to use public resources to spread their religion. What you describe is basically public school - why you want to call it mission or catholic is beyond me.
vankelvin: I can't continue with this dumbo attitude okay?
-Government is responsible for building infrastructures for these missionary schools
--Goverment is the one training Teachers for these schools.
--Goverment pays their salaries 100%
--Goverment is responsible for buying everything, from text books, desks, chalk/marker, buses etc
-- Government builds teachers bungalows
-- Government pays fees for all the students(free education)
-- Government feeds some of the students for free(school feeding program)
These Missionary churches or muslim missions are only playing supervisory role so who do you think runs these schools?
First let get proper stats. Kenya public primary schools are 27,000 last I checked. Private schools are in excess of 10,000. Secondly where does the church get all that land.
When it come to expenditure - we spend about 5B dollars on public schools
- Gov pays capitation per pupil/student - Gov pays teachers - Gov buys equipment, textbooks, etc - Now Gov also build schools.
Private schools including missions schools- are just outside - any gov - radar.
We are BEYOND AID - like your president clearly shown in the picture.
Just30: There is an automatic system that shapes the future on every community. your doubts will be yours.
I should be telling you that kenya lacks educational facilities because it has less primary schools than Ghana. funny children
The most powerful church in Ghana is the Pentecostal and Methodist Church, is the pope their leader too.?
In Ghana, once church members decide they want a school, the Church provide land and the member starts the school project with the Church development fund. Once it becomes a serious thing the District assembly makes sure it is completed to standard.
Flies in face of all logic. Why would an investor build a private school if public school are good. In countries with good public schools - private school simply don't exist. It doesn't make sense.
Institutions are run differently in different countries.
In some countries, private schools are superior to public schools. In Ghana, public schools are rather superior to private institutions.
Little Education for you.
The catholic/other churches or muslims mission -do not build school infrastructures -They do not train Teachers -They do not pay salaries -They do not employ any worker Government does everything so what do you mean by that Harambee rubbish?
The Churches/muslim mission are only responsible for training the students through their beliefs and what not.
lol charismatic Ghana. Then word - cutting sod . Most catholics schools will take instruction from Rome - or if you like the little vatican inside Rome.
The most powerful religious body in Ghana is the Ghana charismatic council, followed by Ghana catholic bishop conference, Christian council and Islamic leaders.
Missionary schools cannot discriminate because they are a missionary school. They adhere to the constitution fully.
There are Muslims in Christian school and Christians in Muslim schools.
Why would you tax churches? We don't tax churches. But we don't allow them to get into gov. Kenya is a secular nation. The freedom of religion ends there.
Kenya gov has changed education system from British system like Ghana to Canada system 8-4-4 - and now we are into Competence Based Learning - and if we were waiting for Pope to agree - we would be like you. If we decide to teach sex education - we don't wait for Pope.
Functionally illiterates folks.
Just30: The church in most countries are highly powerful.
The church in Ghana is at the highest level of political decision.
That is why schools in Ghana are very powerful places.
Today those same churches have huge universities as part of the free tax regime on the church and in exchange, they keep their university feesin the range of public universities.
The church was involve in politics from the very onset of Ghana
We know what mission school in kenya are. We have them. Kenya is 90% christian nation. But we will never allow them to be anything 70% - they are not even 5% of our education system.
Just30: It is called a mission school because the initiative came from the church and it members. Gov't cant sit and watch a half baked school
In registering the school, the school have to be at a certain level of development.
So most of the infrastructure have to be provided by gov't anyway because it becomes a public school.
The church has 30K primary school producing idiots like you - who probably spend a lot of time gramming bibical verse and chanting Jesus Jesus like Nigerians - than studying.
No wonder you're as obtuse as Somali who went to Madrassa...and spent all the time studying Koran ...instead of basic critical thinking.
Or like Nigerians - where someone is a criminal and a strong christian at the same time . I bet Ghanaians are the same - Church is basically all you know - you went to church school - all your life.
Kenya gov control the schools, the curriculum and everything.
Church in kenya are left to run their private affairs including preaching.
I really doubt that there is an automatic system in place that decided that. I also doubt that church has land everywhere.
Now the double track thing make sense - because you clearly lack education facilities - you're at the mercy of churches.
In Kenya - if 10 parents meet and decide - they are far off from nearest school - they can build one - and gov will supply teachers.
Nowadays the gov build- in my village - they recently decided to build another primary school - we are fewer than 20 families - CDF bought the land - and County gov built the pre-primary - and the MP (CDF) has built 4 initial classes.
Obviously people from poor areas - in kenya - would rather they open a school under a tree - than wait for the pope to build them one.
Just30: Ghanain parent do not need to ask for a school before they get i.
Once the community is of a few 1000 people, they get a primary school. Once the population is above 10,000, They get a mission school in addition once the population grows into the 100 of thousands, they get a cluster of schools and school complexes.
The church have access to lands, once they provide land for a school project they want to start. Their church members begin the construction with their development money and go into negotiations with gov't for support. The district assembly help them complete their project and provide other amenities to complete the school as per GES standard.
All mission schools in Ghana are public, whether state-assisted built mission school or sole built mission schools. Gov't end up running them while the church provide the principals who are usually selected by the church council at national level in collaboration with GES.
I suggest you hand over gov operation to be run from Rome. This is debate we had in 1960s. In kenya - missionary schools - were given a choice - decide to be private or public. Most decided to be private.
You cannot get public funds then discriminate based on religion.
Kenya kids - muslim, christians, protestants - are allowed admission to any public school.
Missionary schools and hospital in kenya are totally private.
vankelvin: Government does not depend on the benevolence of the Pope.
Government inherited some Missionary schools. Over the years Government has built so many schools on campuses of these missionary schools.
Government pays every cost of these schools.
Government absorbed all these schools for a reason. Now as we speak, Government and the Churches are in talks over whether Government should hand over the schools to the Churches or it should still have control over the schools.
Ghana - to help you in your quest to go Beyond AId - you need to study Kenya Harambee motto and spirit.
Harambee is our national motto. Our football team is named Harambee Star. The president office is Harambee Office.
What is harambee - Harambee is self help - pulling together - coming together - not in communist way - but community way.
After Europeans left Kenya in 60s - we began harambee - basically pulling resources - fund raising - and building schools, dispensaries and name it.
Parents meet, they decided they need a school, they start fund-raising in harambees, buy land, build schools. Nowadays this is happening less because we have funds to build public schools.
What fair deal? Kenya parents in every village, meet, decided they need a school, they build it, and gov fund it. Nowadays we have Constitutuency Development Fund - run by the Member of Parliament - and that basically is given about 2M dollars annually - and they use it to top up parents land - schools and provide bursary for poor kids.
We don't wait for the generosity of the church.
Churches have their few schools and hospitals - but If we had depended on them - we would be like Ghana - a backwater.
Missionary schools in kenya are treated as private.
If they want to get gov teachers and funding - then they become public - have to cede authority to parents - who elect board and the church exit - they just become sponsors for religious purpose - although all religions are allowed.
So gov basically depend on goodwill of Pope to run your school? In kenya the story is different. We inherited 1,000 mostly missionary schools in 1963. We began what we call harambee - fund raising - to build public schools Mostly schools in kenya are owned by public - parents. Nowadays the school are under what we call CDF - const dev fund - where each member of parliament is the patron.
Our schools - suffice to say are run and owned by parents (public schools with boards and PTAs) - gov provide teachers and equipment - and now chip in with CDF funding.
Some of them are coloured but yes it's mostly grey. Along the coast - it's whiteish (coral) - Mostly natural stones In rural kenya - people use bricks mostly.
Generally very hard to see pre-cast stone like nigeria
Vlain: Oh the s to s the stone u use. I don't like it in buildings.its hideous.
But surely if their towns look like shanties, their infrastructure third class, how can people live better lives than kenya. Look at electricity - they claim to be at 85%- yet metered customers are only 4m - in a country of 8M plus households.
tylann: Unfortunately we can't test that with pics test So let us give them that But transport infrastructure is physical you can't hide it
Provide the link to the report. Your education standard is appalling if you don't understand the basics of sound argumentation. These are basic debating skills taught in primary.
Just30: you can pick up my trunk road network which is paved to it entire length and my feeder road network figure and add to urban roads and see.
Yes - Kenya comes second to South Africa in the Logistic Performance index that ranks logistics in160 countries . Kenya's LPI score of 3.33 puts it ahead of economies like Russia, Brazil and Argentina.
As for Ghana - their LPI index is 2.57 something.
tylann: Let's start with our railway infrastructure I know Ghana has nothing similar Mombasa port outdos those Ghanaian ports believe me and we are building even a big one in Lamu Road infrastructure the quality in Kenya is higher than Ghana's
Ghana road network - mere 67K - compared to kenya 200K. With only 17% paved. I see in 2009 it was 12% paved...so it shows you're not even adding 1% more paved road annually
It is estimated that Ghana has about 67,291 km of road network today. Of this, 12,785 km are trunk roads, 42,394 km are feeder roads and 12,112 km are urban roads. 83% of trunk roads, 36% of urban roads and 72% of feeder roads are considered being in either good or fair condition. The network size, of which only 17% is paved, grows at an average rate of 8% per year. https://dlca.logcluster.org/display/public/DLCA/2.3+Ghana+Road+Network
Like Nigeria - you country - fails the picture/video test - meaning your data is fudged - which explain the record bailout from IMF/WB - as your country is ever broke.
vankelvin: Airport, seaport, railway, roads etc, they all fall under Transportation infrastructure So let's make progress.
Tells us other areas you beat Ghana
Health infrastructure Education infrastructure(literacy rate) Employment Poverty rate Industries Entertainment infrastructure Agriculture( food security) Sports infrastructure Security, peace and stability Water and sanitation Electricity (accessibility) etc
