Kenya has done it without minerals or arable land...mostly by emphasis on education.Kenyatta inspired Kenya into africa socialism of self help and gave birth to Africa largest cooperative movement..7th largest worldwide..Kenyans pull their resources together however little and benefit from economies of scale.Moi was a dictator who overstayed but he had a passion for education.Kibaki fixed our broken nation and we recovered..and without COVID would have completed 20yrs of growth. Kenya is good example to many countries that good education, cooperation, capitalism and entrepreneurship triumphs gold or oil

Eventually they will open up - we dont need to fire any shot. We just have to wait for them to realize that Kenya is on another level - and they will open all their orifices wide - and we will get on the job.

Ignorance is very expensive. They have to pay for it.

This is actually the big difference btw Kenya and many of these countries. We have never really dropped the ball when it come to education. That has helped us thrive despite lacking any natural resources including arable land.

Most Kenyans instinctively understand the importance of education. Therefore parents really worked hard, teachers and students too.

There is no doubt that kenya has Sub-Saharan best human capital because of that.

For country of 60M - with twice the size of Kenya landmass - that is some serious under-investment in education. They are going nowhere. The biggest investment a country can make is on education.

Kenya education - while Tanzania are sending away pregnant kids from school - kenya this year is hunting those teenage pregnant kids to be taken to school after counselling. Lots of kids got pregnant during covid-19.

Kenya is not GHANA - who are waiting for pope to build them missionary schools. Here is our Minister at 99%. Kenya is hunting Maasai kids - otherwise it's 99%. Only 10,000 kids out of 1.1m who sat for primary exam had not enrolled - and I think were all hunted down -

Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp2018: 3:38pm On Jan 12, 2021
In 2020 - I bet we went to 99.5% - heck some kids left primary and joined polythenic - 800 out of 1M of them - we hunted them

“Over 800 students who sat for KCPE in 2019 have joined TVETs. This is contrary to the expectations of 100% transition initiative which seeks to have all primary students join secondary schools to advance their studies,” he said. Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp2018: 3:33pm On Jan 12, 2021
Kenya - ). Transition rates from primary to secondary school level increased from 81.9 percent in 2015 to 88 percent in 2018 January and to 99% in 2019.

We came to Ghana to see if we can use double track to move from 99% to 100% - 1% are those in Turkana and northern remote areas. We decided against it and build new schools.

In kenya police - Chiefs (prov administration) - go round villages hunting for 100% kids to transition to secondary school.

For example Nairobi had some 24 kids who missed school...we build a new school for them

To carry on with its plans, the government has set up a new secondary school in Nairobi County to accommodate some of 2019 KCPE candidates who had not joined Form One as by the set deadlines for reporting into secondary schools. The new school has been set up within Riruta Satellite Primary School in Dagoretti Sub County and 24 students have been enrolled.

Source of your data - 86%? I know of 36% as late as 2013.

Kenya has attained universal - it now 99% plus.

Just30:
Lies wont save your country abysmal education

86% of junior high school student are able to transition from Junior high school to senior high school

14% tend to fail their entrance exams

Double track in Ghana was highly successful, performance in the transition exams increased hugely to almost 80%.

There is no where in the world where there is 100% transition in any education system where exams are written unless in Kenya

That show how despotic your education is
Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp2018: 1:08pm On Jan 12, 2021
My friend - only 30% of Junior High School graduates in your country - are admitted to Senior High School
You tried double track - where each student get half-baked education - but that is stupid.
Take control, build schools, and focus on getting 100% transition.
vankelvin:
It's about planning.

Kenya decided to build 1500 Secondary schools that can take 1500 students at a time.

Ghana decided to build 800+ big Secondary Schools that can take 2000+ students at a time.

This is not a rocket science but common sense.

You can't expect Ghana to do the same thing you do in Kenya? Are you clear?
Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp2018: 12:37pm On Jan 12, 2021
So about 2-3 per constituency.
Please build more schools.
This is very shameful.
vankelvin:
Coming from a common Kenyan?

Ghana has 275 constituencies not Districts.

We currently have 800+ secondary schools,
Do your own calculations?
--not forgetting some private schools have folded up,
-- there are 40 Day Secondary Schools completed but under lock and key?
-- with others at various stages of completion?

If this year, Government want to end double track, it will happen. They know why they are doing that
Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp2018: 12:35pm On Jan 12, 2021
Their veneer of progressiveness was shattered when they presented Nairobi of 1980s as their 2050 - Beyond Aid goal. You got to be of such low ambition to present another Africa city as your vision 2050. At least everyone else steal Dubai or Singapore smiley

Now turn out their entire education system is run by missionaries.

And they only have 800 senior secondary schools!

And only 2% of Senior High school kid get admitted to universities.

That is shocking.

i was shocked bro... grin
Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp2018: 12:32pm On Jan 12, 2021
Listen to yourself.
You did double track to try to improve the fact that only 30% of your junior high school kids get admitted to senior high school

While you're double tracking - we are in 100% transition - since 2019

“I am proud to report that in 2019, the Ministry of Education achieved this policy by admitting all of the 2018 candidates to secondary schools. I wish to assure the country that the Ministry has put in place measures to fulfil the 100 per cent transition policy in 2020.” He said.

vankelvin:
You guys are close minded.

There is a double track because the Government of the day wanted to run a double track. It's not an issue of lack of infrastructures.

Firstly, it's not all Secondary schools that are on the double track.

Secondary, many Private schools have folded up because of the Free SHS program, Government could have absorbed all those numerous Private secondary schools but they decided not to.

Thirdly there is a double track because the Government decided not to use the Day Secondary schools the previous Government built. About 40 of Day schools are under lock and key whilst 90 Day secondary school buildings are at various levels of completion since 2017.
The government decided not to complete them for reasons best known to them.
Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp2018: 12:27pm On Jan 12, 2021
They are linked. Because you left your education to church - instead of taking control - you have 900 secondary schools - man - in a country that big.
vankelvin:
[/b]

You see how empty you are?

Entire population in your Secondary Schools could be 1500 and above and you are making noise over our over 800+ SHS schools?

Infact we shouldn't waste time on these Kenyans, these guys are too dumb.

Yesterday it was about missionary schools, today it's about number of schools? Like seriously?

So if you have Secondary Schools which admits less than 1600 students as compared to our Secondary Schools that admits averagely over 2000 students, per your thinking Ghana having 800+ Secondary Schools is bad?

Fyi, in Ghana, some SHS population are above 2500 so you can't compare them to your 1500 student population.
By common sense you should know that Kenya has a higher population than Ghana so it's normal for Kenya to have higher number of SHS schools or students?
Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp2018: 10:57am On Jan 12, 2021
Your sound more stupid than usual.
You have so much problems - you put in a system - where SS kids go to school for half year - and then go hunting rats the other half
Just so you can reduce the backlog.

You have 14,000 Junior Secondary schools and then mere 900 Senior High Schools.

Simple maths - 1 Senior High school - has to admit from 17-18 Junior SS - if you were to get to 100% transition.

Jesus christ - 800 senior high schools. That must be one senior high school per district.

Just30:
what sort of dumbness is this

Do you move junior high school and go and place it in senior high school or you move students from junior high school into senior high school ?

There are 350,000 students who transition from junior high schools to senior high schools yearly.
Now calculate the ratio and tell me how impossible it is.

You think our senior high school are those small small schools you have in kenya that cant enough admit up to 100 students a year ?

Kenyan should focus on building more school facilities to end it double track and remove schools under trees so it can reach Ghana standard of giving every child the quality education they deserve.

Kenya's current educational system has been churning out dumb people like yourself and the others here
Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp2018: 10:50am On Jan 12, 2021
Which one do you disagree.
Your education sector is so poor.
No wonder most of your sounds obtuse.

Kenya is first in Africa to achieve universal primary to secondary transition.
We don't have junior high school thing - Kids stays in primary for 8yrs - not six
And then they go to high school for 4yrs
And university for 4yrs.

8-4-4 system like in Canada.

And we are now onto another system that is like 3-3-3-2-3 something crazy like that under Competence Based Learning

Just30:
keep pulling stats out of your but hole to make you feel good about your countries mediocrity
Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp2018: 10:46am On Jan 12, 2021
You're confusing us. Anyway I already found your pathetic enrollment %.
If you have 14,000 junior high school transiting to mere 800 senior high school then
It simple maths 14,000 divide 800.
The ratio is 1 senior high school - should admit all kids in 18 junior high schools.
Obviously that is impossible
That is why you have problems - and trying bandaid like double track : ) laughble idea.
Instead of building more schools.

Kenya we want to move from 99% to 100% enrolment - and were exploring using double track in Turkana deserts.

Just30:
I know math is not your thing so I will let your stupidity say.

Give your calculator to a KG kid so he can tell you what 350,000 by 930 will be.

Each high school admit between 300 to 500 students every year. Depending on their size.

As for double track, despotic Kenya is the one still running double track.
Hope you find money to build classrooms for the children studying under trees.
Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp2018: 10:36am On Jan 12, 2021
Ghana Gross Enrollment - as of 2013

Primary to Junior High - 82%
Junior to SS - 36% -
College - 2.7%

Kenya as I know

Primary to High school - 99%
High school to University - 25% - roughly 125,000 students out of 480K qualify to join university under public scholarship

High school to TIVET/TTCs/MTC - take cares of nearly the rest of them.

Nairobi beats Lagos in number of skyscrapers

Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp2018: 10:23am On Jan 12, 2021
41K>900 secondary schools - Double Track smiley. How big can a secondary school for that kind of ratio.

It's like 1 senior secondary school for 15 junior secondary schools. Let me ignore the nonsense that primary school and junior secondary are the same.

That is crazy - it mean if every Junior sec schools has 500-1000 kids - then your senior secondary schools need to hold upto15,000 kids

Kenya we have decent pyramid - we have maybe 50K plus pre-schools - that transition to about 35K primary schools - that transition to 15K secondary schools - that transition to thousands of village polythetic - thousands of TIVET colleges/teachers/nursing/etc - and then hundreds university - (who enroll more than 0.5M students)

That is why we have 100% primary to secondary transition.

And you're doing double track - as you wait for Pope to build your more classes.

Just30:
we only have 930 or so secondary schools and it is not by my logic but by the facts

41k primary schools are able to transition their huge students numbers into 930 plus secondary schools because secondary schools are huge and can host them.

Just like how 9000 secondary schools in Kenya transition their million students into just a 100 few universities

Dont be silly anymore grin angry

Anyway, Ghana does not run double track
