jln115:You had more minerals than any country on earth..Saudi Arabia of mineral.Your country was not built by whites but incredible minerals on its soil like Botswana and Namibia |
And some midget from Accra - a city looking like Nairobi of 1960s has spend the entire day trying to challenge our common senses ![]() Give Nairobi 10 or less years - and No city in Africa will be anywhere close. We just need to fix light rail - and fix more roads - I think we are nearly there in all And then also fix the few slums - occupying only 5% of Nairobi built area or 2% of Nairobi landmass.

Nairobi - 6th most dynamic city - meaning fastest growing city - only one in top 10 in the world against Asian cities
|
Nairobi CBD when you combine is starting to whip South Africa's Joburg (main cbd, rosebank and sandton) Nairobi old CBD Nairobi Upperhill Nairobi Kilimani Nairobi Parklands Nairobi Westlands. And Mombasa roads Heck even Eastleigh is a serious business district
|
Precisely. Ghana's Accra is Nairobi of 1960s. In 1970s - Nairobi started building highrises. In 1980s - That is where Ghana is aiming for - as you saw in the picture from their midget president. Nairobi post 1990s is too much for Ghana. Nairobi of 2020 is going toe to toe with Joburg and Cairo. gallivant: |
jln115:Stuck in a middle class trap |
Just30:No sane person will dignify Accra by comparing it to Nairobi. TRY MOMBASA |
jln115:I bet if we included those under construction or approved |
Just30:That the picture he took was Nairobi of 80s..Nairobi is sixth world fastest growing or dynamic city.. |
Just30:please let your president know that...he already declared Nairobi to be beyond aid goal north star |
jln115:I may also be blind because joburg in terms of high rises is soon trailing Nairobi..maybe Sandton is impressive but the rest mm.Nairobi is the new Africa capital |
The walling is mostly what we call "ndaruguo stones" - mostly machine cut natural stones found near Thika town. I think Nigeria you guys have to cast - your blocks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAd8lHioCGU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQtwCpYpJ1I https://i.roamcdn.net/hz/pi/listing-thumb-543w/c415c21bd5a579cac5a6b21e5a0cb406/-/horizon-files-prod/pi/picture/qn78w50/719bdc031a187264a52cb81bfa5c7c769aa6a263.jpeg https://d12prgon3aw7l1.cloudfront.net/1638700_img-20190717-065110-4_1500x1125.jpg Vlain: |
Looking at Joburg drones footage - I do think Nairobi has probably overtaken it - except for the Gautrain and few better roads although Nairobi is getting there soon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pg_n3mU1mwc |

South Africa did well - built one of world great's infrastructure - I cannot take that away from them. But now they are not doing as great. Their minerals are now running out - and it's time for Ghana, Nigeria and DRC - to step up and do something - before their minerals run out too. Vlain: |
Which foreigners have build skyscrapers in kenya ![]() Kenya real estate is mostly by black kenyan. vankelvin: |
Your standards are very low. But at least you're better than your president who thought Nairobi of 1980s is good north star for Ghana. South Africa built what you're enjoying ALMOST exclusively from minerals like gold. Ghana you have the same minerals - you have no excuse not to build South Africa level of instratructure. Vlain: |
When will you decorate our views with Ghana villages. You think by licking south africa ar.se you'll become one. Vlain: |
We export and import power - it's part of East Africa power pool - you cannot afford to pay Nigeria for their gas. vankelvin: |
I am. I use God for Nature. popizaino: |
Nigeria - the generator city. Ghana and Nigeria - you need a lot of electricity to just survive the heat - your need ACs in your homes or at least a fun. Do you know in Kenya we don't need AC - except in very few places - like remote north where nobody lives. Kenya sits mostly on highland/mountains - so it's very cold - despite being at the equator. Our power consumption in typical household is therefore for lighting. As for manufacturing - in COMESA - after Egypt - it's Kenya. Obviously we don't have minning industry like you or south africa - consuming power We do light manufacturing - leading Africa in AGOA textile manufacturing for example. Just30: |
He look like a typical Ghanian to me. Appisko: |
1) Kenya lead Africa in solar power installation at household level - this is not documented anyway - so it not captured. 2) Nearly every kenya industrial player produces their own power. Not captured 3) Nearly every large institution in kenya have their own power source. Not captured. Just30: |
Precisely. Very obtuse. Shma2020: |
From horse mouth http://www.energycom.gov.gh/planning/data-center/energy-outlook-for-ghana Just30: |
Please midget...I just gave you a report from your own energy regulator - the latest for 2020 - regarding 2019 - I am sure 2020 is bad - for everyone. The nonsense you are spewing are waste of your time. As of 2019 - peak demand was 2,300MW. Installed capacity is nothing - most of thermal plants - from your own regulator report - are idle - mostly for lack of fuel or gas. Just30: |
Let me leave you video evidence of what we have done. Take 30minutes of your life to watch these videos - and come back - and tell me again that we have done nothing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3NIgWNh1Vs&t=719s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TP_-IuyK9SE&t=319s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZE1Y-e21HM&t=235s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZRdqC4lhRM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EuoAznN-Alc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtC3iQIg3kM Appisko: |
Installed capacity versus real consumption - huge mismatch in Ghana - real consumption is not even 2,500MW - while installed capacity is twice that. Most of your thermal plants - are idle - expensive misadventure. Kenya we have very little thermals plants - and are now almost on renewable clean energy. Just30: |
More reading - I discovered your thermal power is mostly dysfunctional - due to lack of gas/fuel (can't afford to pay Nigeria?) - and so even smelting has to be constrained by power. It appears the real power is mostly hydro. So your installed capacity is just good for the books - but in reality - you're still relying on Kwame Nkurumahs 1960 volta akosombo dam Just30: |
The usual lame excuses. Kenya has done very very well compared to many (nearly all) of Sub-Sahara Africa without MINERALs. Ghana your country is rich in gold, oil, bauxite, name it. And yet your cities, rural areas and name it look horrible. You have a dysfunctional democracy where every gov in power fudges figures to look good. That is why Ghana fails the picture test. Don't blame me - it's Kazikazi igneous invention - one of those engineering things of pottery. There is NO SINGLE DAY a SANE KENYAN will respect Ghana or Nigeria - after what we know. God gave you everything - but the brains - to turn it around. Arable land, Minerals, huge rivers, forests, sea, name it - and YOURE POOR - and your entire cities shanties. God gave us only 11% arable land and no minerals. And yet when you look at Kenya - you got be proud of what we have done for ourselves - best out of the worst (africa) of course. Appisko: |
