Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp2018: 12:56pm On Jun 17, 2020
This must be a Nigerian forced to live with 10 other Nigerians after paying 2yr rent deposit.

It's only Nigerian who do that - Somalis use to do it too. Live 10 people in one single room.

There is housing in Nairobi for every income level and you can get it anytime. You don't need six month or 2yr rent deposit. Your friend is describing Lagos the slumpolis.

We have houses going for 5K dollars per month.

And we have houses in slums going for 5 dollars a month.

samorobo:
I am reposting this again so my point can reach home..btw you still haven't told me how nairobi is the 6th most dynamic city in the world and also how close it is to becoming Africa's Untouchable city grin grin

I don't know why they argue about slum all the time...could this be a way they use in projecting their agony on others. I mean 94% of kenyans are poor ..where else do they expect them to live ....in masionsssss!!!!..
Hell No...Coupled with the fact that 90% of nairobians live on rents which is quite expensive since high cost land properties tends to affect the price of housing forcing 61% that came to the urban space for livelihood to return back to slums which keeps ballooning steadiy since they is almost zero presence of affordable housing provided by the govt of kenya..if you don't even want to follow reports and stats logical reasoning like this can tell you nairobi is one huge slumpolis without even settings foot there or watching a video..

Metro/Greater/Metropolis - no difference oga! You Lagos is very tiny before we remove water. And It's expanding in one direction - apart from Eko city land reclamation.

Nairobi is raising in all directions towards 100kms.

Danielnino00:
You don't even know how to lie..

What's the difference between Metro and Metropolis?

Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp2018: 12:48pm On Jun 17, 2020
Latest Mercer. Lagos is more expensive than Nairobi. By far. Lagos sit next to Bangui.

Nairobi has slums. But Nairobi is not a slumpolis.

Nairobi is a well planned city.

LAGOS and KINSHASASA are mega slumpolis. KANO is nearly there - although KANO is entirely a slumpolis. Beats Kinshasasa to that. At least Lagos has one or two islands of prosperity.

Abeukota, Enugu, name any Nigeria city bar Abuja are slumpolis.

Abuja is well planned but it's going to end up a slumpolis if you don't enforce planning and zonning laws.

BUILT UP=Developed. I can say the 40Kms radius is completely built-up or developed (Nigeria speak). Btw 40-60kms - you can describe as peri-urban.

From Nairobi center to Kitengela is nearly 40kms - completely built up.

From Nairobi to Thika is 40kms - completely built up.

From Nairobi to Tala - is completely built up.

From Nairobi to Limuru - is completely built up.

From Nairobi past Rongai to Kiserian - 40kms built up.

Btw 40-60kms - it about 50% built up.

Btw 60-100kms - it about 20% built up. Kajiado town is 110kms from Nairobi. Nairobi is extending all over there. Nairobi is now moving Past Kenol in Muranga. Nairobi is moving past Konza city to Salama. Nairobi will soon join up with Naivasah dry port/Suswa...Ngong to Suswa plots are being developed.

Unlike Lagos that is expanding in one direction - Nairobi is expanding in all directions - it has no water body

68816419:
how many % of these "Built " up areas is developed ?
Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp2018: 12:38pm On Jun 17, 2020
Nairobi city boundaries are as defined in 1963!
That is about 600Kms square. A radius of 20kms.

Now Nairobi Metro - in the East - extend all the way past Konza city - that is more than 60kms - From JKIA to mlolong to Athi river to Machakos turn off to Konza and now nearing Salama. From Kangundo road - you start from Ruai, Kamulu, Joska, all the way to Tala, Kangundo.

Now Nairobi Metro - in the north - extends the way past Thika to Kenol - that is more than 60kms. Ruriru, Juja are not Nairobi. Ruiru-Juja alone has more than 1M people. Thika town has 0.5M people. Not Nairobi City.

Nairobi in South - extend all the way to near Kaijado town - that 100kms - Rongai, Kitengela, Ngong. Kiserian. Kisaju. Kitengela alone probably nearing 0.5m people now. Not Nairobi city.

Nairobi in the west - extend past limuru - about 60kms. Kabete, Uthiru, Kikuyu, Limuru - all those are teeming with nearly 1m people. Not Nairobi city.

That is the built up areas of Nairobi METRO.

Tatu city is not in Nairobi city. Northland City is not in Nairobi. Konza city is not in Nairobi.

That is Nairobi as of 1963. But Nairobi of 2020 is huge area with built up area of 6,000kms in my estimation.

68816419:
Aint than Nairobi ?

Lagos Slumpolis - if you remove the water - is very tiny slumpolis
Area[1]
• Metropolis 1,171.28 km2 (452.23 sq mi)
• Land 999.6 km2 (385.9 sq mi)
• Water 171.68 km2 (66.29 sq mi)
• Urban 907 km2 (350 sq mi)
• Metro 2,706.7 km2 (1,045.1 sq mi)

But you were given a graph from UN HABITAT showing Nigeria lead in Slums.

UN Habitat is Hqed in Nairobi.

forgiveness:
Bring a reputable source that confirmed Abeokuta and Ibadan as slums. grin

We need a neutralist in this argument and not a Kenyan. grin

Kibera and most parts of Nairobi remains a slum according to UN. grin

Nairobi was 6th most dynamic city. Yes I think Nairobi is competing with Joburg and Cairo really.
samorobo:
Stop giving yourself lines over childish gossips...
Tell us how nairobi will soon be the untouchable capital city of Africa once it's gets it light rail..you can E en compete with Dakar Senegal d you are here making noise...

And also tell me what makes nairobi the 7th most dynamic city globally.. grin
Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp2018: 12:24pm On Jun 17, 2020
Kibera constitutuency is not entirely slum. It has 5 wards. 3 wards are slums. 2 wards are middle class. Kenyatta and Woodley. Check the houses in both.
forgiveness:
Out of 17 district (or whatever you call it) of Nairobi area, 2 full districts are dedicated to slums. Kibera and Mathare are these districts or constituencies and they are the first and second largest slums in Nairobi and also in the world. shocked

Embakasi south Constituency which is also one of the contituency host a slum called Mukuru kwa Njenga. A slum in the East of Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. It belongs to Embakasi south Constituency, but extends into Makadara and Starehe constituencies

Korogocha which is your four largest slum in Nairobi is 1.5km². How can Nairobi be 5% slum? grin

Time will not permit me to mention other notable slums in Nairobi. Pardon me. grin

Nairobi built up area is more than 6,000kms. It radius of 60ks. Konza city. Thika city to Kenol that is 60 kilometers. Nairobi extend past Limuru past Rironi *60km. Nairobi is now near Kajiado - (60kms).
68816419:
Not really , Nairobi county (Including Nairobi City+ Nairobi CBD is actually 696(km2) while Nairobi metropolitan region(Areas boarding Nairobi county is 32,715.5km2), is like saying Lagos state(3,577 km²)+Ogun state(16,981 km²)+Oyo state (28,454 km²) are also parts of"Lagos metropolitan region

Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp2018: 10:45am On Jun 17, 2020
That is Nairobi as of 1966. Nairobi Metro built up area is huge - about 60kms circle - with about 40kms nearly all built up.

Nairobi built-up area is definitely more than 6,000kms.

This is something you can quickly check in google maps.

Magufuli strikes me a builder but it's more than that. Do these health facilities have the medical equipment and staff.

I notice your budget has remained stuck at 14-15B dollars - meaning you're not spending in real stuff beyond building.

You need to tell us how many nurses, doctors, medical equipment have been bought to complete the story

Because we know you can build a hospital that doesn't operate.

Most TZ refferal cases are still being send to Kenyatta and Kenya generally

Kazikazi:
Why you don't learn other international languages like Swahili?

OK this is a translation.....

The Tanzania's government in the past 5 years have built..
1,198 clinics
487 health centers
71 district hospitals
10 referral hospitals
Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp2018: 10:31am On Jun 17, 2020
Slum consists of 2% of Nairobi's built area - 5% of Nairobi landmass. Those are stubborn facts. Lagos like almost all Nigeria Cities except parts of Abuja are INTEGRATED SLUMS.
forgiveness:
Yes! If we add kibera, it's a very bigger city than Lagos but doesn't change the fact that 2km² of Nairobi is developed. Bhuhahahaha! grin

How many design awards has it won? Let assume we can compare Eko 25Kms2 city with what Egypt are doing. You Nigerians are nut-cases.
forgiveness:
I think Eko Atlantic city is better designed than this but this is coming up pretty fast due to government funding it unlike Eko Atlantic city solely developed by private investigators.
Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp2018:
Precisely. That is their game. When he saw Konza city was moving on a technopolis - not a make-belief LEGCO city like they have in Nigeria - he run to Senegal and Egypt.

But it's good that he can see why Egypt is a giant - and they don't claim to have 500B GDP.

EGYPT is consuming about more than 50 million metrics of cement. Egypt beat Nigeria in nearly every sector. Manufacturing. Tech. Agriculture

And yet Egypt GDP is merely 330B dollars.

And as we saw in wealth index...they are at 800B..South Africa at 700B..Nigeria at 400..Kenya at 250B..

It got nothing with being big economy - it got everything with the nature of your economy.

Egypt is not expected to contract - and Egypt economy is bigger than Nigeria - if you ignore the cookery.

Danielnino00:
The big economies like Nigeria will contract...that's normal... South Africa will contract up to 7% .

But u see those small boys like Kenya, they can not even manage with 1% grin

Look like Beirut during war or Yemeni - like it's just recovering from a nuclear bomb. If this is your famed Banana Island - then it surely is bananas. Davido should have more class.

What I expected was maybe something like Mombasa's Nyali - considering it's near the sea - at least some beach front - some golf course - and lots of greenery - and maybe boats - and all that.

Not construction sites of cheap apartments.

I expect Lagos to have something like this - Sirai house Mombasa - for the rich

@Rvp I want you to watch this video on One of Africa's richest Neighbourhood..BANANA ISLAND...36 residents in this island individually own private jets....we've not even talked about those residents with private jets in ikoyi,Lekki,VI,Abuja, port Harcourt, Ikeja and other parts of Lagos mainland...

Anyway this is a tour on DAvido's New Apartment in banana island...I think he is one of the very few celebrities that has been able to live in this neighbourhood.. Banana island is right there competing with Sandton in SA...

Now watch this and tell me when Kenya luxury taste will graduate to this level grin grin grin

If you want to build short building - try something like thisl

samorobo:
Stop decieving yourself...your buildings in Nairobi are just rather talk and ugly as they gets....it's no by height...have you seen those modern buildings austine was posting some pages ..as small as they are they can build you your usually tall 38 flrs of hideous regular block concrete structure...you live in Kenya so you wouldn't understand what modern 21sr century high -tech building is..you wouldn't understand that they cost more..

It's not dead. It's getting allocation every year.

Konza you need to understand is different from your wet dream cities.

This is a TECHNOPOLIS.

This gov project - gov will provide horizontal infrastructure.

And then give you free land - and tax holiday.

And so once gov has completed infrastructure development - investors will snap them and build it.

Already KOREA's famed KASIT has committed 200m to build institute there.

More tech and research companies will go there.

Eko city is opposite - gov public land was given private investor - who then sell the land very expensively - dooming the project
